We demonstrated a 1.91 μm pumped, injection-seeded Q-switched Ho:YAG laser operating at room temperature. By inserting two Fabry-Perot etalons into the laser cavity, single-frequency Tm, Ho:YAG seed lasing was achieved at a wavelength of 2090.9 nm, with a typical output power of 60 mW. Single-frequency, nearly transform-limited Q-switched operation of the Ho:YAG laser was achieved by injection seeding. The output energy of the single-frequency Q-switched pulse is 7.6 mJ, with a pulse width of 132 ns and a repetition rate of 100 Hz. We measured the pulse spectrum, half-width of which was 3.5 MHz, by a heterodyne technique.  相似文献

We report the pulsed-diode-pumped and acoustics-optically Q-switched operation of a long-pulse-width Tm:YAG laser at room temperature. Output energy for single pulse of 48 mJ is obtained under the incident pump energy of 217.3 mJ, corresponding to a slope efficiency of 30.2% and an optical conversion efficiency of 22.1%. For the Q-switched regime, maximum pulse energy of 3.25 mJ and the pulse width of 232.8 ns at the repetition rate of 30 Hz are achieved. The wavelength of the Q-switched laser is 2.013 μm. A beam quality factor of M 2 < 1.4 is measured using the traveling 90/10 knife-edge method.  相似文献

The Er:YAG and the CO2 laser are competitors in the field of hard tissue ablation. The use of Er:YAG lasers (2.94 μm, pulse length L of 100 to 200 μs) show smaller areas of thermal defects then ‘‘superpulsed’’ CO2 lasers with pulse lengths of approximately 100 μs. Only the development of a Q-switched CO2 laser (9.6 μm, τL=250 ns) allowed for similar results. In this paper new results for the Er:YAG and the Q-switched CO2 laser under the influence of water spray will be presented. Several parameters are of special interest for these investigations: the specific ablation energy, which shows a minimum for the CO2 laser at an energy density of 9 J/cm 2 and a broad shallow minimum in the range of 10 to 70 J/cm2 for the Er:YAG laser, and comparison of the cut-shape and depth. Surface effects and cutting velocity are discussed based on SEM pictures. Received: 19 July 2000 / Revised version: 1 November 2000 / Published online: 30 November 2000  相似文献

The free running and Q-switched operation of 2 μm Tm:YAG lasers side-pumped by pulse laser diodes were reported. In the free running mode the maximum output energies were 102.5 mJ at 1 Hz and 94.6 mJ at 10 Hz, respectively. With an acousto-optic modulator in the laser resonator, 21 mJ 2 μm Q-switched pulse was obtained, with a pulse width of about 330 ns. The dependences of the output energy and the efficiency on the laser resonator parameters were investigated.  相似文献

By using both acousto-optic (AO) modulator and V3+:YAG saturable absorber, a diode-pumped doubly Q-switched a-cut Nd:GdVO4 laser at 1.34 μm is realized. The average output power and the pulse width for different AO repetition rate f have been measured. The experimental results show that the doubly Q-switched laser can compress the pulse width and improve the pulsed peak power in comparison to the singly Q-switched laser with AO or V3+:YAG saturable absorber. At the pump power 10.34 W and f = 10 kHz, the greatest pulse width compression ratio 72% and the highest peak power improvement 8.8 times have been obtained, respectively.  相似文献

An efficient continuous wave (CW) and Q-switched c-cut Tm:YAP laser is reported in this letter. With the dual-end-pumped convex-concave resonator, CW output power up to 13.6 W at 1.99 μm was obtained under a total incident pump power of 50 W. The corresponding slope efficiency was 34.3% and conversion efficiency was 27.2%. The active Q-switched operation of the laser had an average output power of 12.5 W at 10 kHz pulse repetition frequency, with a minimum pulse width of 126 ns. With 6 kHz pulse repetition frequency, the maximum pulse energy of 1.6 mJ was obtained. In addition, using the Tm:YAP laser as a pumping source for gain-switched Cr:ZnSe laser, as much as 4 W output power in the wavelength range of 2.5–2.6 μm was obtained.  相似文献

2-μm lasers with high pulse energy and long pulse width of hundreds of nanoseconds are needed urgently in the accurate wind velocity lidar systems. This paper presents the acoustic-optical Q-switched Tm:YAG laser performance in a pulsed-laser-diode end-pumping figure-eight ring resonator structure. Pulse energy and pulse width are investigated with the increasing of the incident pump energy at different repetition rate operation. Maximum energy of 4.6 mJ with the pulse width of 179.2 ns and 3.57 mJ with pulse width of 184.4 ns are obtained at the repetition rate of 20 and 100 Hz, respectively. Under free-running and Q-switched operation, the peak output wavelength is 2.014 μm at all time, and the beam quality factors are lower than 2 times diffraction-limited measured by a knife-edge traveling method.  相似文献

The solid-state, tunable, narrowband, high pulse energy and high reliability lasers are attractive source for LIDAR system. In this paper, we demonstrated a diode pumped injection-seeded 2 μm Tm:YAG laser. By inserting two F-P etalons into the laser cavity, linear-polarized single-frequency seed-laser was achieved at a wavelength of 2013 nm, with a maximum output power of 60 mW. Long-term and short-term frequency stability for the seed-laser were 1.27 × 10− 7 and 97 Hz/μs, respectively. High power Q-switched laser was operated using a bowtie cavity, the bidirectional output of which was favorable for the injection-seeded. After injecting the seed-laser to the power-laser, single-frequency, nearly transform-limited pulsed 2 μm laser was obtained. As much as 2.0 mJ output energy was achieved at an operating repetition rate of 15 Hz, with a pulse width of 356.2 ns.  相似文献

Continuous-wave (CW) and Q-switched operation of a room-temperature Ho:LuAG laser was resonantly double-end-pumped by a diode-pumped Tm:YLF laser at 1.91 μm. The CW Ho: LuAG laser generated 24.5 W of linearly output at 2094.4 nm with beam quality factor of M 2 = 1.11 ± 0.02 for an absorbed pump power of 44.0 W, corresponding to optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 55.7% and slope efficiency of 60.5%. Under Q-switched operation, a maximum output power of 24.1 W with a slope efficiency of 58.1% at 12 kHz was obtained. Also, the minimum pulse width of 32 ns was achieved, corresponding to the peak power was 37.7 kW.  相似文献

By using both V3+:YAG and Co:LMA saturable absorbers, an xenon-lamp-pumped doubly passively Q-switched and mode-locked (QML) Nd:YAG laser at 1.3 μm in a straight cavity is realized for the first time. The modulation depth of QML pulse has nearly reached 100%. The experimental results shows that the doubly passively Q-switched and mode-locked (QML) laser can generate shorter Q-switch envelope pulse with higher average peak power in comparison to the singly passively QML laser with V3+:YAG or Co:LMA saturable absorber.  相似文献

A passively Q-switched and mode-locked Nd:LuVO4 laser with V:YAG at 1.34 μm was successfully demonstrated. Comparisons between c-cut and a-cut Nd:LuVO4 lasers were experimentally made. The maximum average output power of 170 mW, the highest Q-switched pulse energy of 4.5 μJ were obtained in c-cut Nd:LuVO4 laser. The duration of mode-locked pulse was estimated to be less than 540 ps with repetition rate of 110 MHz.  相似文献

Q-switched operation of a room temperature Ho:YAP laser was resonantly end-pumped by a diode-pumped Tm:YLF laser at 1.91 μm. The CW Ho:YAP laser generated 9.9 W of linearly output at 2119.03 nm with beam quality factor of M 2 ∼1.46 with respect to absorbed pump power of 19.16 W, corresponding to an optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 51.7% and slope efficiency of 60.6%. Under Q-switched operation, the maximum output power of 9.8 W in relation to 10 kHz pulse repetition frequency (PRF) was obtained, however, the maximum peak power of 60 kW at the PRF of 5 kHz was demonstrated. At 5 kHz pulse energies of 1.92 mJ with pulse width of 32 ns was achieved.  相似文献

We report a LD side-pumped fundamental-mode (Mx2 = 1.35 and My2 = 1.27) passive Q-switched and mode-locked Nd:YAG laser based on a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM). At a pump current of 12.5 A, the average output power of 5.68 W with 80 kHz repetition rate and 2 μs pulse width of the Q-switched envelope was generated. The repetition rate of the mode-locked pulse within the Q-switched envelope of 88 MHz was achieved.  相似文献

A LD-pumped single-frequency passively Q-switched Nd: YVO4/KTP/Cr:YAG green laser is presented. Cr:YAG plays the double role of a passive Q-switch and a Brewster plate. With 900 mW incident pump laser, single-frequency passively Q-switched green laser with average power of 86 mW, pulse width of 14.7 ns, repetition rate of 140.8 kHz and peak power of 41.6 W is obtained. Measurement shows that the pulse amplitude and period between pulses are stable within ±1.5%.  相似文献

The character of a diode-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:GdVO4/V3+:YAG 912 nm laser was demonstrated for the first time to our knowledge. With an absorbed pump power of 7.4 W, an average output power of 360 mW with a Q-switched pulse width of 328 ns at a pulse repetition rate of 163 kHz was obtained. The Q-switching efficiency was found to be 32.7%. Our work further indicated V3+:YAG could be an effective fast passive Q-switch for 0.9 μm radiation.  相似文献

In this paper, we report a Tm (5.5 at %), Ho (0.55 at %):GdVO4 laser pumped by diode laser at 800 nm. To our best knowledge, it is the first time that the use of Tm (5.5 at %), Ho (0.55 at %):GdVO4 crystal among the similar experiments. We observed the influences of LD working temperature i.e. pump wavelength to 2 μm laser conversion efficiency. In the conditions of the continuous wave and 10 kHz acousto-optic Q-switch, high efficiency output of 2.05 μm laser was obtained. With the maximum pump power of 34.6, 13.9, and 13.6 W at 2.05 μm laser output was achieved respectively. Single laser pulse width was 25.6 ns in 10 kHz acousto-optic Q-switched condition.  相似文献

The mode-locked pulse inside the Q-switched pulse has a repetition rate of 349 MHz, and its average pulse width is estimated to be about 750 ps.  相似文献

We have developed a gain-switched room-temperature Cr:forsterite laser operating at repetition rates of between 1 and 34 kHz, and pumped by a continuous wave, Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. With optimised output coupling, an output pulse energy of 52 μJ was measured at 1.5 kHz repetition rate, corresponding to 11% efficiency and 13% slope efficiency. Threshold pulse energy was 53 μJ. Output power of 370 mW was obtained at 10 kHz repetition rate and 4.4 W pump power. Water cooling was not required for repetition rates up to 10 kHz. In a tunable, folded resonator, the Cr:forsterite wavelength tuned between 1173 and 1338 nm. This laser operated with maximum pulse energy of 34 μJ, efficiency of 13%, and power of 307 mW. The laser output was close to diffraction-limited with M2 of 1.2. Received: 6 January 1999 / Published online: 29 July 1999  相似文献
