We have investigated the temperature dependence of the H parallel to c flux line lattice structural phase transition from square to hexagonal symmetry, in the tetragonal superconductor LuNi2B2C ( T(c) = 16.6 K). At temperatures below 10 K the transition onset field, H2(T), is only weakly temperature dependent. Above 10 K, H2(T) rises sharply, bending away from the upper critical field. This contradicts theoretical predictions of H2(T) merging with the upper critical field and suggests that just below the H(c2)(T) curve the flux line lattice might be hexagonal.  相似文献

The lower critical field H(c1) for highly underdoped YBa2Cu3O(6+x) with T(c) between 8.9 and 22 K has been determined by measurements of magnetization M(H) curves with applied field parallel to the c axis. H(c1) is linear in temperatures below about 0.6T(c), and H(c1)(0) is proportional to T(1.64+/-0.04)(c), clearly violating the proportionality between rho(s)(0) and T(c). Moreover, the slope -dH(c1)/dT decreases steeply toward zero as T(c) approaches zero, indicating that the effective charge of the quasiparticles vanishes as the doping is decreased toward the insulating phase.  相似文献

The thermal decline in magnetization, M(T), at fixed magnetic field (H) under 'zero-field-cooled' (ZFC) and 'field-cooled' (FC) conditions, the time evolution of ZFC magnetization, M(ZFC)(t), at fixed temperature and field, M(H) hysteresis loops/isotherms, and ac susceptibility have been measured on polycrystalline Gd samples with average grain sizes of d = 12 and 18 nm. The irreversibility in magnetization, M(irr), occurring below a characteristic temperature that reduces with increasing H, is completely suppressed above a grain-size-dependent threshold field, H*. At low fields (H ≤ 100 Oe), M(irr)(T), like the coercive field, H(c)(T), exhibits a minimum at ~16 K and a broad peak at ~50 K before going to zero at T ? T(C) (Curie temperature). At fixed temperature (T < T(C)) and field (H ? H*), where M(irr) is finite, M(ZFC) has a logarithmic dependence on time. The magnetic viscosity (S) at H = 1 Oe and T ≤ 290 K is independent of the measurement time above ~2 ms but for t < 2 ms it is strongly time-dependent. S(T) peaks at T ? T(C) for H = 1 Oe. A magnetic field reduces the peak height and shifts the peak in S(T) to lower temperatures. All the above observations are put on a consistent theoretical footing within the framework of a model in which the intra-grain magnetizations overcome the energy barriers (brought about by the intra-grain and grain-boundary/interfacial magnetic anisotropies) by the thermal activation process. These field- and temperature-dependent energy barriers, that separate the high-energy metastable (ZFC) state from the stable minimum-energy (FC) state, are independent of time for t ? 2 ms and have a very broad distribution. We show that the shape anisotropy plays a decisive role in the magnetization reversal process, and that the magnetocrystalline and magnetostatic fluctuations, prevalent in the grain-boundary and interfacial regions, govern the approach-to-saturation of magnetization in nanocrystalline Gd.  相似文献

We present high resolution heat capacity measurements of the organic superconductors kappa-(ET)(2)Cu[N(CN)(2)]Br and kappa-(ET)(2)Cu(NCS)(2) in fields up to 14 T. We use the high field data to determine the normal state specific heat and hence extract the behavior of the electronic specific heat C(el) in the superconducting state in zero and finite fields. We find that in both materials for T/T(c) less or similar 0.3, C(el)(H=0) approximately T2 indicating d-wave superconductivity. The data are well described by a strong coupling d-wave model from our base temperature (T/T(c) approximately 0.1) right up to T(c). Our data help to resolve the controversy regarding the order parameter symmetry in these materials.  相似文献

A study of the dependence of the heat capacity C(p)(alpha) on the field angle in LuNi2B2C reveals an anomalous disorder effect. For pure samples, C(p)(alpha) exhibits a fourfold variation as the field H (alpha=0). A slightly disordered sample, however, develops anomalous secondary minima along <110> for mu(0)H>1 T, leading to an eightfold pattern at 2 K and 1.5 T. The anomalous pattern is discussed in terms of coexisting superconducting gap anisotropy and nonlocal effects.  相似文献

We report the electrical transport, magnetic, and thermodynamic properties of polycrystalline PdTe which exhibits superconductivity below 4.5 K. Using the measured values for the lower (H(c1)) and upper (H(c2)) critical fields, and the specific heat C(p), we estimate the thermodynamic critical field H(c)(0), coherence length ξ(0), penetration depth λ(0), and the Ginzburg-Landau parameter κ. Compared with band structure calculations, the density of states at the Fermi level is enhanced due to electron-phonon coupling with λ(ep) = 1.4. Furthermore, the large values of ΔC(p)/γ(n)T(c) and 2Δ(0)/k(B)T(c) suggest that PdTe is a strongly coupled superconductor.  相似文献

The effect of a magnetic field on the spectral density of a S = 1/2 Kondo impurity is investigated at zero and finite temperatures by using Wilson's numerical renormalization group method. A splitting of the total spectral density is found for fields larger than a critical value H(c)(T = 0) approximately 0.5T(K), where T(K) is the Kondo scale. The splitting correlates with a peak in the magnetoresistivity of dilute magnetic alloys which we calculate and compare with the experiments on CexLa1-xAl2,x = 0.0063. The linear magnetoconductance of quantum dots exhibiting the Kondo effect is also calculated.  相似文献

We report measurements of the anisotropy of the spin echo decay for the inner layer Cu site of the triple layer cuprate Hg(0.8)Re(0.2)Ba(2)Ca(2)Cu(3)O(8) (T(c)=126 K). The angular dependence of the second moment (T(-2)(2M) identical with ) deduced from the decay curves indicates that T(-2)(2M) for H0 parallel c is enhanced in the pseudogap regime below T(pg) approximately 170 K, as seen in bilayer systems. Comparison of T(-2)(2M) between H0 parallel c and H0 perpendicular c indicates that this enhancement is caused by electron spin correlations between the inner and the outer CuO2 layers. The results provide the answer to the long-standing controversy regarding the opposite T dependences of (T1T)(-1) and T(-2)(2G) (T(2G): Gaussian component) in the pseudogap regime of multilayer systems.  相似文献

We have synthesized polycrystalline samples of Eu(1-x)K(x)Fe2As2 (x = 0-1) and carried out systematic characterization using x-ray diffraction, ac and dc magnetic susceptibility, and electrical resistivity measurements. A clear signature of the coexistence of a superconducting transition (T(c) = 5.5 K) with spin density wave (SDW) ordering is observed in our underdoped sample with x = 0.15. The SDW transition disappears completely for the x = 0.3 sample and superconductivity arises below 20 K. The superconducting transition temperature Tc increases with increase in the K content and a maximum Tc = 33 K is reached for x = 0.5, beyond which it decreases again. The doping dependent Tx phase diagram is extracted from the magnetic and electrical transport data. It is found that magnetic ordering of Eu moments coexists with the superconductivity up to x = 0.6. The isothermal magnetization data taken at 2 K for the doped samples suggest the 2+ valence state of the Eu ions. We also present the temperature dependence of the lower critical field H(c1) of the superconducting polycrystalline samples. The values of H(c1)(0) obtained for x = 0.3, 0.5, and 0.7 after taking the demagnetization factor into account are 202, 330, and 212 Oe, respectively. The London penetration depth λ(T) calculated from the lower critical field does not show exponential dependence at low temperature, as would be expected for a fully gapped clean s-wave superconductor. In contrast, it shows a T2 power law feature up to T = 0.3Tc, as observed in Ba(1-x)K(x)Fe2As2 and BaFe(2-x)Co(x)As2.  相似文献

The magnetic-field-induced 3D ordered phase of the two-leg spin ladder Cu2(C5H12N2)2Cl4 has been probed through measurements of 1H NMR spectra and 1/T1 in the temperature range 70 mK-1.2 K. The second order transition line T(c)(H) has been determined between H(c1) = 7.52 T and H(c2) = 13.5 T and varies as (H-H(c1))(2/3) close to H(c1). From the observation of anomalous shifts and a crossover in 1/T1 above T(c), the mechanism of the 3D transition is argued to be magnetoelastic as in spin-Peierls chains, here involving a displacement of the protons along the longitudinal exchange ( J( parallel)) path.  相似文献

Specific-heat experiments on single crystals of the S = 1 quasi-one-dimensional bond-alternating antiferromagnet Ni(C9H24N4)(NO2)ClO2 (NTENP) have been performed in magnetic fields applied both parallel and perpendicular to the spin chains. We have found for the parallel field configuration that the magnetic specific heat (C(mag)) is proportional to temperature (T) above a critical field H(c), at which the energy gap vanishes, in a temperature region above that of the long-range ordered state. The ratio C(mag)/T increases as the magnetic field approaches H(c) from above. The data are in good quantitative agreement with the prediction of the c= 1 conformal field theory in conjunction with the velocity of the excitations calculated by a numerical diagonalization, providing conclusive evidence for a Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid.  相似文献

We report the spin Knight shift (K(s)) and the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation rate (1/T1) in the vortex state as a function of magnetic field (H) up to 28 T in the high-Tc superconductor TlSr2CaCu2O6.8 (Tc = 68 K). At low temperatures well below Tc, both K(s) and 1/T1 measured around the middle point between the two nearest vortices (saddle point) increase substantially with increasing field, which indicate that the quasiparticle states with an ungapped spectrum are extended outside the vortex cores in a d-wave superconductor. The density of states (DOS) around the saddle point is found to be kappaN(0)square root[H/H(c2)], with kappa = 0.5-0.7 and N0 being the normal-state DOS.  相似文献

We report bulk superconductivity (SC) in Eu(0.2)Sr(0.8)(Fe(0.86)Co(0.14))(2)As(2) single crystals by means of electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility and specific heat measurements with T(c) is approximately equal to 20 K and an antiferromagnetic (AFM) ordering of Eu(2+) moments at T(N) is approximately equal to 2.0 K in zero field. (75)As NMR experiments have been performed in the two external field directions (H is parallel to ab) and (H is parallel to c). (75)As-NMR spectra are analysed in terms of first-order quadrupolar interaction. Spin-lattice relaxation rates (1/T(1)) follow a T(3) law in the temperature range 4.2-15 K. There is no signature of a Hebel-Slichter coherence peak just below the SC transition, indicating a non-s-wave or s(±) type of superconductivity. In the temperature range 160-18 K 1/T(1)T follows the C/(T+θ) law reflecting 2D AFM spin fluctuations.  相似文献

High-pressure measurements of the resistivity of americium metal are reported to 27 GPa and down to temperatures of 0.4 K. The unusual dependence of the superconducting temperature (T(c)) on pressure is deduced. The critical field [H(c)(0) extrapolated to T=0] increases dramatically from 0.05 to approximately 1 T as the pressure is increased, suggesting that the type of superconductivity is changing as pressure increases. At pressures of approximately 16 GPa the 5f electrons of Am are changing from localized to itinerant, and the crystal structure also transforms to a complex one. The role of a Mott-type transition in the development of the peak in T(c) above 16 GPa is postulated.  相似文献

We have observed an unexpected enhancement of the lower critical field H(c1)(T) and the critical current I(c)(T) deep in the superconducting state below T approximately 0.6 K (T/T(c) approximately 0.3) in the filled skutterudite heavy fermion superconductor PrOs(4)Sb(12). From a comparison of the behavior of H(c1)(T) with that of the heavy fermion superconductors U(1-x)Th(x)Be(13) and UPt(3), we speculate that the enhancement of H(c1)(T) and I(c)(T) in PrOs(4)Sb(12) reflects a transition into another superconducting phase that occurs below T/T(c) approximately 0.3. An examination of the literature reveals unexplained anomalies in other physical properties of PrOs(4)Sb(12) near T/T(c) approximately 0.3 that correlate with the features we have observed in H(c1)(T) and I(c)(T).  相似文献

The striped cuprate La(2-x)Ba(x)CuO(4) (x=1/8) undergoes several transitions below the charge-ordering temperature T(co)=54 K. From Nernst experiments, we find that, below T(co), there exists a large, anomalous Nernst signal e(N,even)(H,T) that is symmetric in field H, and remains finite as H→0. The time-reversal violating signal suggests that, below T(co), vortices of one sign are spontaneously created to relieve interlayer phase frustration.  相似文献

The magnetization, M(H< or =30 T,0.7< or =T< or =300 K), of (C5H12N)2CuBr4 has been used to identify this system as an S = 1/2 Heisenberg two-leg ladder in the strong-coupling limit, J( perpendicular) = 13.3 K and J( parallel) = 3.8 K, with H(c1) = 6.6 T and H(c2) = 14.6 T. An inflection point in M(H,T = 0.7 K) at half saturation, M(s)/2, is described by an effective XXZ chain. The data exhibit universal scaling behavior in the vicinity of H(c1) and H(c2), indicating that the system is near a quantum critical point.  相似文献

Effects of normal-state resistivity rho(n) on the vortex phase diagram at low temperature T have been studied based on dc and ac complex resistivities for thick amorphous MoxSi(1-x) films. It is commonly observed irrespective of rho(n) that, in the limit T=0, the vortex-glass-transition line B(g)(T) is independent of T and extrapolates to a field below the T=0 upper critical field B(c2)(0), indicative of the quantum-vortex-liquid (QVL) phase in the regime B(g)(0)相似文献

We report on results of our theoretical study of magnetic field induced changes of the c-axis infrared response of bilayer cuprate superconductors using the phenomenological multilayer model involving the conductivity of the spacing layers and that of the bilayer units. For H perpendicular to the planes, the local conductivities have been expressed in terms of a two-fluid approximation--as weighted averages of the superconducting state ones and the normal state ones representing contributions of the vortex cores, the weight of the latter increasing linearly with the field. This allows us to reproduce and interpret the fast decrease with increasing H of the well known 400 cm(-1) peak (transverse plasma mode) in the c-axis conductivity, observed by LaForge and co-workers. For the local conductivities of underdoped YBa(2)Cu(3)O(7-δ) with T(c)=58 K reported by Dubroka and co-workers and the fraction of the normal state (T ≈ T(c)) component given by (μ(0)H/25 T), the computed field induced changes of the reflectivity are in quantitative agreement with the data. This suggests that the response at H=0 and T ≈ T(c) is close to that at H=25 T < H(c2) and T ? T(c), in accord with theories attributing the above T(c) state to that of a superconductor lacking long-range phase coherence. Also discussed are changes of the response induced by H parallel to the CuO(2) planes.  相似文献

The two layered hexagonal hydroxides of Ni are β-Ni(OH)(2) and α-Ni(OH)(2); β-Ni(OH)(2) is now known to be an antiferromagnet whereas the nature of the magnetism in α-Ni(OH)(2) is not yet well established. Here, the magnetic properties of α-Ni(OH)(2) with lattice parameters a = 3.02 ? and c = 8.6 ?, and flower-like morphology with petal thickness of approximately equal to 50 ? are reported. Temperature (2-300 K) and magnetic field (up to 65 kOe) dependence of the magnetization and ac susceptibility at f = 0.1-1000 Hz were measured. Analysis of the data yields ferromagnetic ordering in the system with T(C) is approximately equal to 16 K. In addition, a nanosize related blocking temperature T(B) = 8 K and spin-glass-like ordering of the surface spins near 3.5 K are inferred from the ac frequency and dc magnetic field dependence of these transitions. Fitting to the high temperature series and quasi-2D nature of the system is used to determine J(1)/k(B) = 4.38 K (J(2)/k(B) = 0.14 K) for the intraplane (interplane) exchange coupling between the Ni(2+) ions.  相似文献
