The investigation of a q -analogue of the convolution on the line, started in conjunction with Koornwinder, is continued, with special attention to the approximation of functions by means of the convolution. A new space of functions that forms an increasing chain of algebras (with respect to the q -convolution), depending on a parameter s>0 , is constructed. For a special value of the parameter the corresponding algebra is commutative and unital, and is shown to be the quotient of an algebra studied in a previous paper modulo the kernel of a q -analogue of the Fourier transform. This result has an analytic interpretation in terms of analytic functions, whose q -moments have a (fast) decreasing behavior and allows the extension of Koornwinder's inversion formula for the q -Fourier transform. A few results on the invertibility of functions with respect to the q -convolution are also obtained and they are applied to the solution of certain simple linear q -difference equations with polynomial coefficients.  相似文献

We prove results on the distribution of points in an orbit of PGL(2,q) acting on an element of GF(qn). These results support a conjecture of Klapper. More precisely, we show that the points in an orbit are uniformly distributed if n is small with respect to q.  相似文献

It is known that a geometry with rankrand no minor isomorphic to the (q+2)-point line has at most (qr−1)/(q−1) points, with strictly fewer points ifr>3 andqis not a prime power. Forqnot a prime power andr>3, we show thatqr−1−1 is an upper bound. Forqa prime power andr>3, we show that any rank-rgeometry with at leastqr−1points and no (q+2)-point-line minor is representable overGF(q). We strengthen these bounds toqr−1−(qr−2−1)/(q−1)−1 andqr−1−(qr−2−1)/(q−1) respectively whenqis odd. A mixed partition of PG(2n−1,q2) is a partition of the points of PG(2n−1,q2) into (n−1)-spaces and Baer subspaces of dimension 2n−1. In (Bruck and Bose, J. Algebra 1 (1964) 85) it is shown that such a mixed partition of PG(2n−1,q2) can be used to construct a (2n−1)-spread of PG(4n−1,q) and hence a translation plane of order q2n. In this paper, we provide several new examples of such mixed partitions in the case when n=2.  相似文献

We make use of the “path sum” function to prove that the family of stretched operator functions characterized by the operator irrep labels p,q,…,q, 0,…, 0 satisfy a pair of general difference equations. This family of functions is a generalization of Milne's p,q,…,q, 0, functions for U(n) and Biedenharn and Louck's p,q, 0 functions for U(3). The fact that this family of stretched operator functions are polynomials follows from a detailed study of their symmetries and zeros. As a further application of our general difference equations and symmetry properties we give an explicit formula for the polynomials characterized by the operator irrep labels p, 1, 0,…, 0.  相似文献

q-analogs of the Catalan numbers Cn = (1/(n + 1))(n2n) are studied from the view-point of Lagrange inversion. The first, due to Carlitz, corresponds to the Andrews-Gessel-Garsia q-Lagrange inversion theory, satisfies a nice recurrence relation and counts inversions of Catalan words. The second, tracing back to Mac Mahon, arise from Krattenthaler's and Gessel and Stanton's q-Lagrange inversion formula, have a nice explicit formula and enumerate the major index. Finally a joint generalization is given which includes also the Polya-Gessel q-Catalan numbers.  相似文献

For a finite group G the minimal degree of a faithful permutation representation of G is denoted by p(G). The minimal degree of a faithful representation of G by quasi-permutation matrices over the rational and the complex numbers are denoted by q(G) and c(G) respectively. Finally r(G) denotes the minimal degree of a faithful rational valued complex character of G. In this paper, we systematically recover the identities for the q-eta numbers ηk and the q-eta polynomials ηk(x), presented by Carlitz [L. Carlitz, q-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials, Duke Math. J. 15 (1948) 987–1000], which we define here via generating series rather than via the difference equations of Carlitz. Following a method developed by Kaneko et al. [M. Kaneko, N. Kurokawa, M. Wakayama, A variation of Euler’s approach to the Riemann zeta function, Kyushu J. Math. 57 (2003) 175–192] for a canonical q-extension of the Riemann zeta function, we investigate a similarly constructed q-extension of the Hurwitz zeta function. The details of this investigation disclose some interesting connections among q-eta polynomials, Carlitz’s q-Bernoulli polynomials -polynomials, and the q-Bernoulli polynomials that emerge from the q-extension of the Hurwitz zeta function discussed here.  相似文献

For q ≥ 0, Olsen [1] has attained the exact rate of convergence of the L q -spectrum of a self-similar measure and showed that the so-called empirical multifractal moment measures converges weakly to the normalized multifractal measures. Unfortunately, nothing is known for q < 0. Indeed, the problem of analysing the L q - spectrum for q < 0 is generally considered significantly more difficult since the L q -spectrum is extremely sensitive to small variations of μ for q < 0. In [2] we showed that self-similar measures satisfying the Open Set Condition (OSC) are Ahlfors regular and, using this fact, we obtained the exact rate of convergence of the L q -spectrum of a self-similar measure satisfying the OSC for q < 0. In this paper, we apply the results from [2] to show the empirical multifractal q’th moment measures of self-similar measures satisfying the OSC converges weakly to the normalized multifractal Hausdorff measures for q < 0.  相似文献

We introduce operators of q-fractional integration through inverses of the Askey–Wilson operator and use them to introduce a q-fractional calculus. We establish the semigroup property for fractional integrals and fractional derivatives. We study properties of the kernel of q-fractional integral and show how they give rise to a q-analogue of Bernoulli polynomials, which are now polynomials of two variables, x and y. As q→1 the polynomials become polynomials in xy, a convolution kernel in one variable. We also evaluate explicitly a related kernel of a right inverse of the Askey–Wilson operator on an L2 space weighted by the weight function of the Askey–Wilson polynomials.  相似文献

For the group O(p,q) we give a new construction of its minimal unitary representation via Euclidean Fourier analysis. This is an extension of the q=2 case, where the representation is the mass zero, spin zero representation realized in a Hilbert space of solutions to the wave equation. The group O(p,q) acts as the Möbius group of conformal transformations on , and preserves a space of solutions of the ultrahyperbolic Laplace equation on . We construct in an intrinsic and natural way a Hilbert space of solutions so that O(p,q) becomes a continuous irreducible unitary representation in this Hilbert space. We also prove that this representation is unitarily equivalent to the representation on L2(C), where C is the conical subvariety of the nilradical of a maximal parabolic subalgebra obtained by intersecting with the minimal nilpotent orbit in the Lie algebra of O(p,q).  相似文献

   Abstract. We consider the indeterminate Stieltjes moment problem associated with the q -Laguerre polynomials. A transformation of the set of solutions, which has all the classical solutions as fixed points, is established and we present a method to construct, for instance, continuous singular solutions. The connection with the moment problem associated with the Stieltjes—Wigert polynomials is studied; we show how to come from q -Laguerre solutions to Stieltjes—Wigert solutions by letting the parameter α —> ∞ , and we explain how to lift a Stieltjes—Wigert solution to a q -Laguerre solution at the level of Pick functions. Based on two generating functions, expressions for the four entire functions from the Nevanlinna parametrization are obtained.  相似文献
