Vertigan has shown that if M is a binary matroid, then |T M (?ι,ι)|, the modulus of the Tutte polynomial of M as evaluated in (?ι,ι), can be expressed in terms of the bicycle dimension of M. In this paper, we describe how the argument of the complex number T M (?ι,ι) depends on a certain $\mathbb{Z}/4\mathbb {Z}$ -valued quadratic form that is canonically associated with M. We show how to evaluate T M (?ι,ι) in polynomial time, as well as the canonical tripartition of M and further related invariants.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new method of solving polynomial mixed 0–1 fractional programming (P01FP) problems to obtain a global optimum. Given a polynomial 0–1 term x1x2,…,xny, where xi is a 0–1 variable and y is a continuous variable; we develop a linearization technique to transfer the x1x2,…,xny term into a set of mixed 0–1 linear inequalities. Based on this technique, the P01FP can then be solved by a branch-and-bound method to obtain the global solution.  相似文献

We establish for which weighted graphs H homomorphism functions from multigraphs G to H are specializations of the Tutte polynomial of G, answering a question of Freedman, Lovász and Schrijver.We introduce a new property of graphs called “q-state Potts uniqueness” and relate it to chromatic and Tutte uniqueness, and also to “chromatic–flow uniqueness”, recently studied by Duan, Wu and Yu.  相似文献

We prove L bounds and estimates of the modulus of continuity of solutions to the Poisson problem for the normalized infinity and p-Laplacian, namely $$\begin{array}{ll} -\Delta_p^N u=f\quad{\rm for } \; n < p \leq\infty.\end{array}$$ We are able to provide a stable family of results depending continuously on the parameter p. We also prove the failure of the classical Alexandrov–Bakelman–Pucci estimate for the normalized infinity Laplacian and propose alternate estimates.  相似文献

Given an open set Ω, we consider the problem of providing sharp lower bounds for λ 2(Ω), i.e. its second Dirichlet eigenvalue of the p-Laplace operator. After presenting the nonlinear analogue of the Hong–Krahn–Szego inequality, asserting that the disjoint unions of two equal balls minimize λ 2 among open sets of given measure, we improve this spectral inequality by means of a quantitative stability estimate. We provide proofs of some key propositions that were used in previous work by Dossa and Tadmon dealing with the characteristic initial value problem for the Einstein–Yang–Mills–Higgs (EYMH) system. The aforesaid proofs were missing, making the considered work difficult to understand. This work is presented with a view to have an almost self-contained paper. With this respect we completely recall the process of constructing initial data for the EYMH system on two intersecting smooth null hypersurfaces as done in the work of Dossa and Tadmon mentioned above. This is achieved by successfully adapting the hierarchical method set up by Rendall to solve the same problem for the Einstein equations in vacuum and with perfect fluid source. Many delicate calculations and expressions are given in details so as to address, in a forthcoming work, the issue of global resolution of the characteristic initial value problem for the EYMH system. The method obviously applies to the Einstein–Maxwell and the Einstein-scalar field models as well.  相似文献

We use computer algebra to demonstrate the existence of a multilinear polynomial identity of degree 8 satisfied by the bilinear operation in every Lie–Yamaguti algebra. This identity is a consequence of the defining identities for Lie–Yamaguti algebras, but is not a consequence of anticommutativity. We give an explicit form of this identity as an alternating sum over all permutations of the variables in a nonassociative polynomial with 8 terms. Our computations show that no such identities exist in degrees less than 8.  相似文献

It is proved that the broken circuit complex of an ordered matroid is Gorenstein if and only if it is a complete intersection. Several characterizations for a matroid that admits such an order are then given, with particular interest in the h-vector of broken circuit complexes of the matroid. As an application, we prove that the Orlik–Terao algebra of a hyperplane arrangement is Gorenstein if and only if it is a complete intersection. Interestingly, our result shows that the complete intersection property (and hence the Gorensteinness as well) of the Orlik–Terao algebra can be determined from the last two nonzero entries of its h-vector.  相似文献
