IntroductionWheelchair Users (WCUs) depend on their upper extremities for their daily living. Therefore, it is not unusual to find that shoulder pain (SP) is a problem for WCUs and reduces their participation in sport and leisure activities.ObjectivesThe aims of this study were 1 – to analyse skin temperature measured by infrared thermography (IRT) before (pre-test), one minute after (post-test) and 10 min after (post-10) the kinematic wheelchair propulsion test (T-CIDIF) of athletic wheelchair users; 2 – to evaluate the relationship between shoulder pain (SP) and Skin Temperature Asymmetry (ΔTsk) before and after (pre-test, post-test, post-10) the T-CIDIF, and to relate the SP with the kinematic variables of the T-CIDIF.Participants & interventions/procedureA volunteer sample of 12 wheelchair athletes completed an exercise test (T-CIDIF) in their own wheelchair. It consisted in a 30-s maximum test performed on two rollers. Two linear transducers connected to the rollers registered the number of propulsions, maximum and mean velocity and power of each arm. SP was assessed with the Wheelchair Users Shoulder Pain Index (WUSPI). Skin temperature (Tsk) of the anterior and posterior upper body was measured before and after the T-CIDIF by using an infrared camera. A total of 26 ROIs were evaluated with respect to the opposite side of the body to identify significant (ΔTsk).Results/main outcome measure(s)Significant differences were observed between the Tsk of the post-10 and pre-test in 12 ROIs, and between the post-10 and the post-test in most of the ROIs. These differences are attenuated when the ΔTsk is compared before and after exercise. Tsk tends to initially decrease immediately after the test and then significantly increase after 10 min of completing the T-CIDIF. The ΔTsk vs SP analysis yielded significant inverse relationships (from r = −0.58 to r = −0.71, p < 0.05) in 5 of the 26 ROI. No significant correlations between propulsion variables and SP questionnaire were found. All T-CIDIF variables were significantly correlated with the temperature asymmetries in multiple ROIs (from r = −0.86 to r = −0.58, from p < 0.05 to p < 0.001).ConclusionsThese results present indications that high performance wheelchair athletes exhibit similar capacity of heat production than able-bodied. The thermographic data inversely correlates with the SP and the kinematic variables, but the last is not related to SP. This work contributes to improve the understanding about temperature changes in wheelchair athletes during exercise, and could be used to assess the efficacy of various sports and rehabilitation programs.  相似文献

The oxygen nonstoichiometry δ of La1−xSrxCo1−yFeyO3−δ (x = 0.6 and y = 0.2, 0.4) was investigated by thermogravimetry in the range 703  T/°C  903 and 1E−5 < pO2/atm < 1. The oxygen deficit increases with increasing T and decreasing pO2. Electronic conductivities σ were measured as a function of pO2 in the range 1E−5 < pO2/atm < 1 at 700  T/°C  900. At constant T, a p-type pO2-dependence of σ is observed. Oxygen nonstoichiometry data are analyzed with regard to the enthalpy and entropy of oxidation ΔHoxθ and ΔSoxθ, as well as to the partial molar enthalpy and entropy of oxygen with respect to the standard state of oxygen (pO2θ = 1 atm), (hO  HOθ) and (sO  SOθ), respectively. For 2.67  (3  δ)  2.79, (hO  HOθ) decreases with increasing δ, while (sO  SOθ) is constant within the limits of error. Defect chemical modelling was performed by an ideal solution model under consideration of three different valence states for B-site ions (Co or Fe). The dependence of σ on δ is modelled, using calculated defect concentrations as functions of δ. Deviations from the ideal behaviour suggest an immobilization of n-type charge carriers by oxygen vacancies.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to develop a novel magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based modeling technique for measuring intervertebral displacements. Here, we present the measurement bias and reliability of the developmental work using a porcine spine model. Porcine lumbar vertebral segments were fitted in a custom-built apparatus placed within an externally calibrated imaging volume of an open-MRI scanner. The apparatus allowed movement of the vertebrae through pre-assigned magnitudes of sagittal and coronal translation and rotation. The induced displacements were imaged with static (T1) and fast dynamic (2D HYCE S) pulse sequences. These images were imported into animation software, in which these images formed a background ‘scene’. Three-dimensional models of vertebrae were created using static axial scans from the specimen and then transferred into the animation environment. In the animation environment, the user manually moved the models (rotoscoping) to perform model-to-‘scene’ matching to fit the models to their image silhouettes and assigned anatomical joint axes to the motion-segments. The animation protocol quantified the experimental translation and rotation displacements between the vertebral models. Accuracy of the technique was calculated as ‘bias’ using a linear mixed effects model, average percentage error and root mean square errors. Between-session reliability was examined by computing intra-class correlation coefficients (ICC) and the coefficient of variations (CV). For translation trials, a constant bias (β0) of 0.35 (± 0.11) mm was detected for the 2D HYCE S sequence (p = 0.01). The model did not demonstrate significant additional bias with each mm increase in experimental translation (β1Displacement = 0.01 mm; p = 0.69). Using the T1 sequence for the same assessments did not significantly change the bias (p > 0.05). ICC values for the T1 and 2D HYCE S pulse sequences were 0.98 and 0.97, respectively. For rotation trials, a constant bias (β0) of 0.62 (± 0.12)° was detected for the 2D HYCE S sequence (p < 0.01). The model also demonstrated an additional bias (β1Displacement) of 0.05° with each degree increase in the experimental rotation (p < 0.01). Using T1 sequence for the same assessments did not significantly change the bias (p > 0.05). ICC values for the T1 and 2D HYCE S pulse sequences were recorded 0.97 and 0.91, respectively. This novel quasi-static approach to quantifying intervertebral relationship demonstrates a reasonable degree of accuracy and reliability using the model-to-image matching technique with both static and dynamic sequences in a porcine model. Future work is required to explore multi-planar assessment of real-time spine motion and to examine the reliability of our approach in humans.  相似文献

We have investigated the magnetic and electronic properties of the antiferromagnetic Kondo lattice YbPtAl using the 170Yb Mössbauer effect at ambient pressure (1.8<T<10 K), electrical resistance (1.8<T<300 K) and X-ray diffraction (T=300 K) techniques at high pressures up to 26 GPa. We find a complex magnetic state in YbPtAl at ambient pressure and an unusual volume-induced change of TN. It is suggested, that the anomalous volume dependence of TN is due to the interplay between frustrated anisotropic exchange interactions and magnetocrystalline anisotropy. The magnetic frustration originates from the topology of the crystal lattice.  相似文献

AC susceptibility and DC magnetization measurements were performed for the RPdIn (R=Gd–Er) compounds both in the paramagnetic and in the ordered state. In opposite to GdPdIn, which is a ferromagnet (Tc=102 K), the other samples show a complex ferrimagnetic behavior with the additional transition at Tt<Tc. In the high-temperature phase (for Tt<T<Tc), a ferromagnetic interaction dominates, while in the low-temperature phase (for TTt) antiferromagnetic interactions with the magnetocrystalline anisotropy, especially strong for TbPdIn, come into play. The ordering temperatures are Tc=70, 34, 25 and 12.3 K for Tb-, Dy-, Ho- and ErPdIn respectively, while transition temperatures are Tt=6, 14 and 6 K for Tb-, Dy- and HoPdIn respectively. TbPdIn reveals an additional transition at 27 K connected with the intermediate ferrimagnetic phase. The critical fields for the magnetization process of the low-temperature phase are high (52 and 150 kOe for TbPdIn and 32 kOe for DyPdIn at T=4.2 K) yet these values decrease remarkably with increasing temperature. Results of the study are compared with magnetic and neutron diffraction data hitherto available. We state that irreversibility of the zero-field cooled–field cooled magnetization is not connected with the spin-glass phase claimed elsewhere.  相似文献

(p, ρ, T) and (ps, ρs, Ts) properties, and apparent molar volumes Vϕ of LiI (aq) at T = 298.15 to 398.15 K, at pressures up to p = 60 MPa were reported, and apparent molar volumes at infinite dilution Vϕ0 have been evaluated. An empirical correlation for density of lithium iodide (aq) with pressure, temperature and molality was derived. The experiments were carried out at molalities m = 0.11053, 0.32532, 0.70013, 1.40459, 2.95059, and 4.88147 mol kg 1 of lithium iodide.  相似文献

The decomposition of dimethyl ether (CH3OCH3) has been investigated behind incident shock waves in a diaphragmless shock tube using laser schlieren densitometry, LS (T = 1500–2450 K, P = 57 ± 4, 125 ± 5 and 253 ± 12 Torr). The LS density gradient profiles were simulated and excellent agreement was found between the simulations and experimental profiles. Rate coefficients for CH3OCH3  CH3O + CH3 were obtained. They showed strong fall-off, and at the lower end of the experimental temperature range are close to the low pressure limit. First order rate coefficient expressions were determined over 1500 < T < 2450 K. k57Torr = (3.10 ± 1.0) × 1079T?19.03 exp(?54417/T) s?1, k125Torr = (1.12 ± 0.3) × 1083T?19.94 exp(?55554/T) s?1and k253Torr = (1.02 ± 0.3) × 1073T?17.09 exp(?51500/T) s?1. The effect of a roaming channel for decomposition of dimethyl ether was assessed and the best agreement was obtained with 1% dissociation of DME via the roaming path.  相似文献

The temperature–dependent electrical resistivity ρ(T) in metallic and semiconducting phase of ZnO nanostructures is theoretically analysed. ρ(T) shows semiconducting phase in low temperature regime (140 K<T<180 K), shows an absolute minimum near 180 K and increases linearly with T at high temperatures (200 K<T<300 K). The resistivity in metallic phase is estimated within the framework of electron–phonon and electron–electron scattering mechanism. The contributions to the resistivity by inherent acoustic phonons (ρac) as well as high frequency optical phonons (ρop) were estimated using Bloch–Gruneisen (BG) model of resistivity. The electron–electron contributions ρe?e=BT2 in addition with electron–phonon scattering is also estimated for complete understanding of resistivity in metallic phase. Estimated contribution to resistivity by considering both phonons, i.e., ωac and ωop and the zero limited resistivity are added with electron–electron interaction ρe–e to obtain the total resistivity. Resistivity in Semiconducting phase is discussed with small polaron conduction (SPC) model. The SPC model consistently retraces the low temperature resistivity behaviour (140 K<T<180 K). Finally the theoretically calculated resistivity is compared with experimental data which appears favourable with the present analysis in wide temperature range.  相似文献

The temperature and the oxygen partial pressure dependences of the electron and hole conductivities were measured by the dc polarization method using a Hebb–Wagner's ion blocking cell for Gd0.2Ce0.8O1.9 polycrystalline bodies with grain size of 0.5 μm prepared by sintering of nano-sized powder. A significant enrichment of gadolinium was observed in the vicinity of the grain boundary by TEM/EDS analyses. The electron conductivity were comparable with those of conventional Gd0.2Ce0.8O1.9 polycrystalline body with grain size of 2 μm, and it followed p(O2) 1/4 dependence at temperatures T = 973–1273 K. However, the observed hole conductivity was higher than that of conventional Gd0.2Ce0.8O1.9, and it did not follow p(O2)1/4 dependence. This anomalous p(O2) dependence disappeared after the sample was treated at T = 1773 K for 38 h and grain size was enlarged to 2–10 μm.  相似文献

The paper presents measurements of magnetic frustrations for the Fe80Nb6B14 amorphous alloy preliminary annealed for 1 h at temperatures ranging from 300 to 770 K in comparison with other parameters characterizing structural relaxation. It was shown that annealing out of free volume and internal stresses cause a reduction in number of frustrated states observed in the range 400>T>50 K. In the range 2<T<50 K additional frustrations due to iron clusters or nanograins were detected.  相似文献

The effects of hydrostatic pressure up to 10 kbar on Curie temperature TC, compensation temperature TCOMP and spontaneous magnetization MS of ferrimagnetic GdCo12B6 compound have been studied. Two antiferromagnetically coupled sublattices that are carrying magnetization of typically 0.42 μB/Co atom and 7 μB/Gd cancel out at compensation temperature at about 50 K and magnetic ordering temperature TC=163±2 K. The volume dependence of intrinsic magnetic properties of the GdCo12B6 compound has been determined by studying it under hydrostatic pressure. The observed increase of MS with pressure (dMS/dp=+0.005 μB kbar?1 at 5 K) is attributed predominantly to the pressure induced decrease of Co magnetic moments. The crucial role of Co in this behavior is confirmed by the change of sign of the pressure slope at temperatures above TCOMP and by the fact that the estimated decrease of mCo is also quite comparable with pressure induced decrease of MS in YCo12B6 (dMS/dp=?0.007 μB kbar?1). The decrease of mCo is also responsible for the increase of TCOMP with pressure (dTCOMP/dp=+0.06 K kbar?1). The decrease of TC with pressure (dTC/dp=?0.55 K kbar?1) is comparable to the decrease observed on RCo12B6 compounds with non-magnetic R and can be attributed to the volume dependence of Co–Co exchange interactions. The remarkable role of the hybridization as a consequence of small distances between Co and B atoms could be a background of this rather unexpected volume stability of magnetic properties.  相似文献

Transport and magnetic properties of LaMnO3+δ nanoparticles with average size of 18 nm have been investigated. The ensemble of nanoparticles exhibits a paramagnetic to ferromagnetic (FM) transition at TC~246 K, while the spontaneous magnetization disappears at T≈270 K. It was found that the blocking temperature lies slightly below TC. The temperature dependence of the resistivity shows a metal–insulator transition at T≈192 K and low-temperature upturn at T<50 K. The transport at low temperatures is controlled by the charging energy and spin-dependent tunnelling through grain boundaries. The low temperature IV characteristics are well described by indirect tunnelling model while at higher temperatures both direct and resonant tunnelling dominates.  相似文献

This paper presents results of investigations of carrier scattering mechanisms in n-Cd1xMgxSe mixed crystals with magnesium content varying from x = 0 to x = 0.33. Experimental results obtained by means of the Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Hall measurements are discussed in the frame of the Drude and the quantum theories. The character of the wavelength dependence of the optical absorption coefficient in investigated crystals was found to be of the type ∼λp, where 2 < p < 3.5. The p = 2 is expected from the Drude theory and the relaxation time approximation. The obtained experimental values of p parameter suggest that the optical phonon and impurity scattering mechanisms are dominating scattering mechanisms in these crystals. The calculated carrier concentration from optical absorption spectrum for a n-CdSe crystal is in a good agreement with this obtained from Hall measurement.  相似文献

Phase transformations in squaric acid (H2C4O4) have been investigated by thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry with different heating rates β. The mass loss in TG apparently begins at onset temperatures Tdi=245±5 °C (β=5 °C min?1), 262±5 °C (β=10 °C min?1), and 275±5 °C (β=20 °C min?1). A polymorphic phase transition was recognized as a weak endothermic peak in DSC around 101 °C (Tc+). Further heating with β=10 °C min?1 in DSC revealed deviation of the baseline around 310 °C (Ti), and a large unusual exothermic peak around 355 °C (Tp), which are interpreted as an onset and a peak temperature of thermal decomposition, respectively. The activation energy of the thermal decomposition was obtained by employing relevant models. Thermal decomposition was recognized as a carbonization process, resulting in amorphous carbon.  相似文献

Currently several therapeutic applications of ultrasound in cancer treatment are under progress which uses cavitation phenomena to deliver their effects. There are several methods to evaluate cavitation activity such as chemical dosimetry and measurement of subharmonic signals. In this study, the cavitation activity induced by the ultrasound irradiation on exposure parameters has been measured by terephthalic acid chemical dosimetry and subharmonic analysis. Experiments were performed in the near 1 MHz fields in the progressive wave mode and effect of duty cycles changes with 2 W/cm2 intensity (ISATA) and acoustic intensity changes in continuous mode on both fluorescence intensity and subharmonic intensity were measured. The dependence between fluorescence intensity of terephthalic acid chemical dosimetry and subharmonic intensity analysis were analyzed by Pearson correlation (p-value < 0.05). It has been shown that the subharmonic intensity and the fluorescence intensity for continuous mode is higher than for pulsing mode (p-value < 0.05). Also results show that there is a significant difference between the subharmonic intensity and the fluorescence intensity with sonication intensity (p-value < 0.05). A significant correlation between the fluorescence intensity and subharmonic intensity at different duty cycles (R = 0.997, p-value < 0.05) and different intensities (R = 0.985, p-value < 0.05) were shown. The subharmonic intensity (μW/cm2) significantly correlated with the fluorescence intensity (count) (R = 0.901; p < 0.05) and the fluorescence intensity due to chemical dosimetry could be estimated with subharmonic intensity due to subharmonic spectrum analysis. It is concluded that there is dependence between terephthalic acid chemical dosimetry and subharmonic spectrum analysis to examine the acoustic cavitation activity.  相似文献

PurposeTo determine magnetic resonance elastography (MRE)-derived stiffness of pancreas in healthy volunteers with emphasis on: 1) short term and midterm repeatability; and 2) variance as a function of age.MethodsPancreatic MRE was performed on 22 healthy volunteers (age range:20–64 years) in a 3 T–scanner. For evaluation of reproducibility of stiffness estimates, the scans were repeated per volunteer on the same day (short term) and one month apart (midterm). MRE wave images were analyzed using 3D inversion to estimate the stiffness of overall pancreas and different anatomic regions (i.e., head, neck, body, and tail). Concordance and Spearman correlation tests were performed to determine reproducibility of stiffness measurements and relationship to age.ResultsA strong concordance correlation (ρc = 0.99; p-value < 0.001) was found between short term and midterm repeatability pancreatic stiffness measurements. Additionally, the pancreatic stiffness significantly increased with age with good Spearman correlation coefficient (all ρ > 0.81; p < 0.001). The older age group (> 45 yrs) had significantly higher stiffness compared to the younger group (≤ 45 yrs) (p < 0.001). No significant difference (p > 0.05) in stiffness measurements was observed between different anatomical regions of pancreas, except neck stiffness was slightly lower (p < 0.012) compared to head and overall pancreas at month 1.ConclusionMRE-derived pancreatic stiffness measurements are highly reproducible in the short and midterm and increase linearly with age in healthy volunteers. Further studies are needed to examine these effects in patients with various pancreatic diseases to understand potential clinical applications.  相似文献

The surface reconstruction, 3 × 2, induced by Yb adsorption on a Ge (Si)(111) surface has been studied using first principles density-functional calculation within the generalized gradient approximation. The two different possible adsorption sites have been considered: (i) H3 (this site is directly above a fourth-layer Ge (Si) atom) and (ii) T4 (directly above a second-layer Ge (Si) atom). We have found that the total energies corresponding to these binding sites are nearly the same, indeed for the Yb/Ge (Si)(111)–(3 × 2) structure the T4 model is slightly energetic by about 0.01 (0.08) eV/unitcell compared with the H3 model. In particular for the Ge sublayer, the energy difference is small, and therefore it is possible that the T4, H3, or T4H3 (half of the adatoms occupy the T4 adsorption site and the rest of the adatoms are located at the H3 site) binding sites can coexist with REM/Ge(111)–(3 × 2). In contrast to the proposed model, we have not determined any buckling in the Ge = Ge double bond. The electronic band structures of the surfaces and the corresponding natures of their orbitals have also been calculated. Our results for both substrates are seen to be in agreement with the recent experimental data, especially that of the Yb/Si(111)–(3 × 2) surface.  相似文献

PurposeSafe, sensitive, and non-invasive imaging methods to assess the presence, extent, and turnover of myocardial fibrosis are needed for early stratification of risk in patients who might develop heart failure after myocardial infarction. We describe a non-contrast cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) approach for sensitive detection of myocardial fibrosis using a canine model of myocardial infarction and reperfusion.MethodsSeven dogs had coronary thrombotic occlusion of the left anterior descending coronary arteries followed by fibrinolytic reperfusion. CMR studies were performed at 7 days after reperfusion. A CMR spin-locking T1ρ mapping sequence was used to acquire T1ρ dispersion data with spin-lock frequencies of 0 and 511 Hz. A fibrosis index map was derived on a pixel-by-pixel basis. CMR native T1 mapping, first-pass myocardial perfusion imaging, and post-contrast late gadolinium enhancement imaging were also performed for assessing myocardial ischemia and fibrosis. Hearts were dissected after CMR for histopathological staining and two myocardial tissue segments from the septal regions of adjacent left ventricular slices were qualitatively assessed to grade the extent of myocardial fibrosis.ResultsHistopathology of 14 myocardial tissue segments from septal regions was graded as grade 1 (fibrosis area, < 20% of a low power field, n = 9), grade 2 (fibrosis area, 20–50% of field, n = 4), or grade 3 (fibrosis area, > 50% of field, n = 1). A dramatic difference in fibrosis index (183%, P < 0.001) was observed by CMR from grade 1 to 2, whereas differences were much smaller for T1ρ (9%, P = 0.14), native T1 (5.5%, P = 0.12), and perfusion (− 21%, P = 0.05).ConclusionA non-contrast CMR index based on T1ρ dispersion contrast was shown in preliminary studies to detect and correlate with the extent of myocardial fibrosis identified histopathologically. A non-contrast approach may have important implications for managing cardiac patients with heart failure, particularly in the presence of impaired renal function.  相似文献

The effect of in vacuo substrate surface pre-treatment on the growth kinetics and chemical constitution of ultra-thin (<3 nm) oxide films grown on bare Al–1.1 at.% Mg alloy surfaces was studied by a combined experimental approach of real-time in situ spectroscopic ellipsometry (RISE) and angle-resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (AR-XPS). One alloy surface pre-treatment prior to oxidation consisted of the removal of the native oxide and other contaminants on the alloy surface by sputter-cleaning under UHV conditions. A second surface pre-treatment involved exposing such sputter-cleaned surfaces to a short in vacuo annealing step at 460 K. Next, ultra-thin (<3 nm) oxide films were grown on these two pre-treated alloy surfaces by exposure to O2(g) within the temperature range of T = 300–485 K (at pO2 = 1 × 10?4 Pa). It was found that, as long as the chemical segregation of Mg from the alloy’s interior to the alloy/oxide interface is kinetically hindered, the oxide-film growth kinetics, the developing oxide-film constitution, as well as the local chemical states of the Al and Mg cations in the oxide layer depend strongly on the alloy surface pre-treatment. At T ? 450 K, the thermally-activated interfacial segregation of Mg becomes pronounced and, only then, the developing oxide-film constitution is approximately independent of the surface pre-treatment.  相似文献
