A long-standing open problem in harmonic analysis is: given a non-negative measure μ onR, find the infimal width of frequencies needed to approximate any function inL2(μ). We consider this problem in the “perturbative regime”, and characterize asymptotic smallness of perturbations of measures which do not change that infimal width. Then we apply this result to show that there are no local restrictions on the structure of orthogonal spectral measures of one-dimensional Schrödinger operators on a finite interval. Using a generalized notion of symplectic Cayley transform in the symplectic group, we introduce a sequence of integer valued invariants (higher order signatures) associated with a degeneracy instant of a smooth path of symplectomorphisms. In the real analytic case, we give a formula for the Conley–Zehnder index in terms of the higher order signatures.  相似文献

Let Ω be a bounded domain with C2-smooth boundary in an n-dimensional oriented Riemannian manifold. It is well known that for the biharmonic equation Δ2u=0 in Ω with the condition u=0 on ∂Ω, there exists an infinite set {uk} of biharmonic functions in Ω with positive eigenvalues {λk} satisfying on ∂Ω. In this paper, by a new method we establish the Weyl-type asymptotic formula for the counting function of the biharmonic Steklov eigenvalues λk.  相似文献

In this paper we give criteria on integral kernels ensuring that integral operators on compact manifolds belong to Schatten classes. A specific test for nuclearity is established as well as the corresponding trace formulae. We construct an explicit scheme to associate to any potential symbol an operator acting between sections of natural bundles (associated to irreducible representations) for a so-called AHS-structure. Outside of a finite set of critical (or resonant) weights, this procedure gives rise to a quantization, which is intrinsic to this geometric structure. In particular, this provides projectively and conformally equivariant quantizations for arbitrary symbols on general (curved) projective and conformal structures.  相似文献

In this short note we prove that a Banach space X is reflexive if, and only if, the Eisenfeld–Lakshmikantham measure of nonconvexity in X satisfies the Cantor property. Using the general formalism of 12 , a study of index theory for non‐Fredholm operators was initiated in 9 . Let M be a topological G2-manifold. We prove that the space of infinitesimal associative deformations of a compact associative submanifold Y with boundary in a coassociative submanifold X is the solution space of an elliptic problem. For a connected boundary ∂Y of genus g, the index is given by Yc1(νX)+1−g, where νX denotes the orthogonal complement of TY in TX|∂Y and c1(νX) the first Chern class of νX with respect to its natural complex structure. This paper addresses the isomorphism problem for the universal (non-self-adjoint) operator algebras generated by a row contraction subject to homogeneous polynomial relations. We find that two such algebras are isometrically isomorphic if and only if the defining polynomial relations are the same up to a unitary change of variables, and that this happens if and only if the associated subproduct systems are isomorphic. The proof makes use of the complex analytic structure of the character space, together with some recent results on subproduct systems. Restricting attention to commutative operator algebras defined by a radical ideal of relations yields strong resemblances with classical algebraic geometry. These commutative operator algebras turn out to be algebras of analytic functions on algebraic varieties. We prove a projective Nullstellensatz connecting closed ideals and their zero sets. Under some technical assumptions, we find that two such algebras are isomorphic as algebras if and only if they are similar, and we obtain a clear geometrical picture of when this happens. This result is obtained with tools from algebraic geometry, reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces, and some new complex-geometric rigidity results of independent interest. The C?-envelopes of these algebras are also determined. The Banach-algebraic and the algebraic classification results are shown to hold for the wot-closures of these algebras as well.  相似文献

For free boundary problems on Euclidean spaces, the monotonicity formulas of Alt–Caffarelli–Friedman and Caffarelli–Jerison–Kenig are cornerstones for the regularity theory as well as the existence theory. In this article we establish the analogs of these results for the Laplace–Beltrami operator on Riemannian manifolds. As an application we show that our monotonicity theorems can be employed to prove the Lipschitz continuity for the solutions of a general class of two-phase free boundary problems on Riemannian manifolds.  相似文献

In the recent years, the notion of slice regular functions has allowed the introduction of a quaternionic functional calculus. In this paper, motivated also by the applications in quaternionic quantum mechanics, see Adler (1995) [1], we study the quaternionic semigroups and groups generated by a quaternionic (bounded or unbounded) linear operator T=T0+iT1+jT2+kT3. It is crucial to note that we consider operators with components T?(?=0,1,2,3) that do not necessarily commute. Among other results, we prove the quaternionic version of the classical Hille–Phillips–Yosida theorem. This result is based on the fact that the Laplace transform of the quaternionic semigroup etT is the S-resolvent operator , the quaternionic analogue of the classical resolvent operator. The noncommutative setting entails that the results we obtain are somewhat different from their analogues in the complex setting. In particular, we have four possible formulations according to the use of left or right slice regular functions for left or right linear operators.  相似文献

In this paper we use the combinatorics of alcove walks to give uniform combinatorial formulas for Macdonald polynomials for all Lie types. These formulas resemble the formulas of Haglund, Haiman and Loehr for Macdonald polynomials of type GLn. At q=0 these formulas specialize to the formula of Schwer for the Macdonald spherical function in terms of positively folded alcove walks and at q=t=0 these formulas specialize to the formula for the Weyl character in terms of the Littelmann path model (in the positively folded gallery form of Gaussent and Littelmann).  相似文献

We construct a conformally invariant vector bundle connection such that its equation of parallel transport is a first order system that gives a prolongation of the conformal Killing equation on differential forms. Parallel sections of this connection are related bijectively to solutions of the conformal Killing equation. We construct other conformally invariant connections, also giving prolongations of the conformal Killing equation, that bijectively relate solutions of the conformal Killing equation on k-forms to a twisting of the conformal Killing equation on (k?)-forms for various integers ?. These tools are used to develop a helicity raising and lowering construction in the general setting and on conformally Einstein manifolds.  相似文献
