In this paper we show an example of two differential graded algebras that have the same derivator K-theory but non-isomorphic Waldhausen K-theory. We also prove that Maltsiniotis?s comparison and localization conjectures for derivator K-theory cannot be simultaneously true.  相似文献

Given any model category, or more generally any category with weak equivalences, its simplicial localization is a simplicial category which can rightfully be called the “homotopy theory” of the model category. There is a model category structure on the category of simplicial categories, so taking its simplicial localization yields a “homotopy theory of homotopy theories”. In this paper we show that there are two different categories of diagrams of simplicial sets, each equipped with an appropriate definition of weak equivalence, such that the resulting homotopy theories are each equivalent to the homotopy theory arising from the model category structure on simplicial categories. Thus, any of these three categories with the respective weak equivalences could be considered a model for the homotopy theory of homotopy theories. One of them in particular, Rezk’s complete Segal space model category structure on the category of simplicial spaces, is much more convenient from the perspective of making calculations and therefore obtaining information about a given homotopy theory.  相似文献

This paper represents a step toward a model structure on pro-spectra in which the weak equivalences are the maps inducing pro-isomorphisms of all pro-homotopy groups. We construct a category in which these weak equivalences are inverted and show that we have not inverted “too much,” in the sense that isomorphic objects still give pro-isomorphic cohomology groups.  相似文献

In this article we extend Hilton's projective homotopy theory of modules (Hilton, 1967) to a homotopy theory of crossed modules, and then reduce some resulting homotopy classification problems to problems in group homology. We also observe that our homotopy theory satisfies the axioms of a Baues fibration category (Baues, 1989).This author would like to thank the University of Cape Town for its hospitality.  相似文献

The homotopy limit problem for Karoubi?s Hermitian K-theory (Karoubi, 1980) [26] was posed by Thomason (1983) [44]. There is a canonical map from algebraic Hermitian K-theory to the Z/2-homotopy fixed points of algebraic K-theory. The problem asks, roughly, how close this map is to being an isomorphism, specifically after completion at 2. In this paper, we solve this problem completely for fields of characteristic 0 (Theorems 16, 20). We show that the 2-completed map is an isomorphism for fields F of characteristic 0 which satisfy cd2(F[i])<∞, but not in general.  相似文献

Let X be a 1-connected CW-complex of finite type and Lx its rational homotopy Lie algebra. In this work, we show that there is a spectral sequence whose E2 term is the Lie algebra ExtULx(Q, Lx), and which converges to the homotopy Lie algebra of the classifying space B autX. Moreover, some terms of this spectral sequence are related to derivations of Lx and to the Gottlieb group of X.  相似文献

We introduce the notion of a local torus action modeled on the standard representation (for simplicity, we call it a local torus action). It is a generalization of a locally standard torus action and also an underlying structure of a locally toric Lagrangian fibration. For a local torus action, we define two invariants called a characteristic pair and an Euler class of the orbit map, and prove that local torus actions are classified topologically by them. As a corollary, we obtain a topological classification of locally standard torus actions, which includes the topological classifications of quasi-toric manifolds by Davis and Januszkiewicz and of effective T2-actions on four-dimensional manifolds without nontrivial finite stabilizers by Orlik and Raymond. We discuss locally toric Lagrangian fibrations from the viewpoint of local torus actions. We also investigate the topology of a manifold equipped with a local torus action when the Euler class of the orbit map vanishes.  相似文献

We show that Quillen?s small object argument works for exact categories under very mild conditions. This has immediate applications to cotorsion pairs and their relation to the existence of certain triangulated adjoint functors and model structures. In particular, the interplay of different exact structures on the category of complexes of quasi-coherent sheaves leads to a streamlined and generalized version of recent results obtained by Estrada, Gillespie, Guil Asensio, Hovey, Jørgensen, Neeman, Murfet, Prest, Trlifaj and possibly others.  相似文献

The Farrell-Jones Fibered Isomorphism Conjecture for the stable topological pseudoisotopy theory has been proved for several classes of groups. For example, for discrete subgroups of Lie groups [F.T. Farrell, L.E. Jones, Isomorphism conjectures in algebraic K-theory, J. Amer. Math. Soc. 6 (1993) 249-297], virtually poly-infinite cyclic groups [F.T. Farrell, L.E. Jones, Isomorphism conjectures in algebraic K-theory, J. Amer. Math. Soc. 6 (1993) 249-297], Artin braid groups [F.T. Farrell, S.K. Roushon, The Whitehead groups of braid groups vanish, Internat. Math. Res. Notices 10 (2000) 515-526], a class of virtually poly-surface groups [S.K. Roushon, The isomorphism conjecture for 3-manifold groups and K-theory of virtually poly-surface groups, math.KT/0408243, K-Theory, in press] and virtually solvable linear group [F.T. Farrell, P.A. Linnell, K-Theory of solvable groups, Proc. London Math. Soc. (3) 87 (2003) 309-336]. We extend these results in the sense that if G is a group from the above classes then we prove the conjecture for the wreath product G?H for H a finite group. The need for this kind of extension is already evident in [F.T. Farrell, S.K. Roushon, The Whitehead groups of braid groups vanish, Internat. Math. Res. Notices 10 (2000) 515-526; S.K. Roushon, The Farrell-Jones isomorphism conjecture for 3-manifold groups, math.KT/0405211, K-Theory, in press; S.K. Roushon, The isomorphism conjecture for 3-manifold groups and K-theory of virtually poly-surface groups, math.KT/0408243, K-Theory, in press]. We also prove the conjecture for some other classes of groups.  相似文献

We give sufficient conditions for the existence of a model structure on operads in an arbitrary symmetric monoidal model category. General invariance properties for homotopy algebras over operads are deduced.  相似文献

We discuss an analogon to the Farrell-Jones Conjecture for homotopy algebraic K-theory. In particular, we prove that if a group G acts on a tree and all isotropy groups satisfy this conjecture, then G satisfies this conjecture. This result can be used to get rational injectivity results for the assembly map in the Farrell-Jones Conjecture in algebraic K-theory.  相似文献

The settings for homotopical algebra—categories such as simplicial groups, simplicial rings, AA spaces, EE ring spectra, etc.—are often equivalent to categories of algebras over some monad or triple T. In such cases, T is acting on a nice simplicial model category in such a way that T descends to a monad on the homotopy category and defines a category of homotopy T-algebras. In this setting there is a forgetful functor from the homotopy category of T-algebras to the category of homotopy T-algebras.  相似文献

By combining ideas of homotopical algebra and of enriched category theory, we explain how two classical formulas for homotopy colimits, one arising from the work of Quillen and one arising from the work of Bousfield and Kan, are instances of general formulas for the derived functor of the weighted colimit functor.  相似文献

We consider a number of combinatorial problems in which rational generating functions may be obtained, whose denominators have factors with certain singularities. Specifically, there exist points near which one of the factors is asymptotic to a nondegenerate quadratic. We compute the asymptotics of the coefficients of such a generating function. The computation requires some topological deformations as well as Fourier–Laplace transforms of generalized functions. We apply the results of the theory to specific combinatorial problems, such as Aztec diamond tilings, cube groves, and multi-set permutations.  相似文献

Extending investigations of Yarahmadian and Zumbrun in the strictly parabolic case, we study time-asymptotic stability of arbitrary (possibly large) amplitude noncharacteristic boundary layers of a class of hyperbolic–parabolic systems including the Navier–Stokes equations of compressible gas, and magnetohydrodynamics with inflow or outflow boundary conditions, establishing that linear and nonlinear stability are both equivalent to an Evans function, or generalized spectral stability, condition. The latter is readily checkable numerically, and analytically verifiable in certain favorable cases; in particular, it has been shown by Costanzino, Humpherys, Nguyen, and Zumbrun to hold for sufficiently large-amplitude layers for isentropic ideal gas dynamics, with general adiabiatic index γ?1. Together with these previous results, our results thus give nonlinear stability of large-amplitude isentropic boundary layers, the first such result for compressive (“shock-type”) layers in other than the nearly-constant case. The analysis, as in the strictly parabolic case, proceeds by derivation of detailed pointwise Green function bounds, with substantial new technical difficulties associated with the more singular, hyperbolic behavior in the high-frequency/short time regime.  相似文献

In this paper we re-develop the foundations of the category theory of quasi-categories (also called ∞-categories) using 2-category theory. We show that Joyal's strict 2-category of quasi-categories admits certain weak 2-limits, among them weak comma objects. We use these comma quasi-categories to encode universal properties relevant to limits, colimits, and adjunctions and prove the expected theorems relating these notions. These universal properties have an alternate form as absolute lifting diagrams in the 2-category, which we show are determined pointwise by the existence of certain initial or terminal vertices, allowing for the easy production of examples.  相似文献
