We present the first direct observation of a higher-order inverse-free-electron-laser (IFEL) interaction. Interaction at the fourth, fifth, and sixth harmonics is observed from an IFEL operating at 800 nm. The harmonic spacing, relative harmonic strength, and transverse beam overlap of the interaction are all in good agreement with tracking simulations.  相似文献

We present a full optimization of the high harmonics wave front owing to the use of a soft X-ray Hartmann sensor. The sensor was calibrated using a high harmonic source with an accuracy of λ/50 root-mean-square (rms) with λ around 30 nm. We observed a high harmonic wave front of λ/7 rms, which is two times the diffraction-limit, astigmatism being the dominant aberration for every condition of generation. By clipping slightly the unfocused high harmonic beam, it is possible to produce a diffraction-limited beam containing approximately 90% of the incident energy.  相似文献

数值研究了双色激光脉冲与一维氩原子相互作用的谐波发射功率谱.双色激光脉冲由800 nm和1600 nm的两束激光组成,脉冲持续时间为9.7 fs.计算结果表明,相对相位为π时,谐波截止频率从单色场情形的58 eV大幅度地展宽到316 eV,获得频宽为93 eV的软X射线连续辐射谱.此外,还采用短程的普薛耳-特勒势和长程的软化库仑势进行比对,数值结果表明该连续辐射谱的存在具有普适性.通过半经典的“三步”模型和时频分析小波变换方法对该连续辐射谱进行分析,发现其主要由单一的“短”量子路径生成,直接叠加频率从22 关键词: 红外双色激光脉冲 连续辐射谱 阿秒脉冲  相似文献

We demonstrate a high-throughput and high-damage-threshold beam splitter for high-order harmonics in the soft-x-ray region that uses Si and (or) SiC plates set at Brewster's angle with respect to the pump wavelength. The beam splitters are guaranteed to have a damage threshold of at least 0.8 TW/cm2 (average power density, 0.25 W/cm2) and an attenuation rate of 10(-4)-10(-5) for a 30-fs pump pulse. The measured reflection efficiency at the 27th harmonic (29.6 nm) was 0.56 for Si and 0.45 for SiC. These beam splitters are useful not only for high harmonics but also for longitudinally pumped x-ray lasers.  相似文献

利用“泵浦-探测”非共线双等离子体通道方法实现三次谐波增强。泵浦光与探测光间的耦合作用能有效改善探测光光丝中的饱和效应,克服光强钳制对谐波强度增加的限制。实验中将两束能量分别为4.4和10.2 mJ、中心波长均为810 nm、脉宽均为60 fs的超短脉冲在空气中非共线聚焦,能各自形成光丝且产生微弱三次谐波。当强光在时域上超前于弱光时,强光会预先成丝形成等离子体通道,对后续弱光产生调制,使探测光产生的三次谐波强度明显增强。实验发现270 nm谐波能量增加的显著区域内频谱宽度出现振荡变化,当两光以27.3 mrad小角度相交于几何焦点前约15 mm,且探测光滞后约55 fs时,获得的能量增长倍率达到近70倍,对应谱宽约为5 nm。  相似文献

Pulse widths of the 7th and 9th harmonics of a Ti:sapphire (TiS) laser have been measured by an autocorrelation technique using two-photon and three-photon ionization of He and Ar as nonlinear phenomena. The pulse widths of the 7th and 9th harmonics were 47 fs and 27 fs, respectively, where the pulse width of the fundamental pulse was 34 fs. The pulse width of the 9th harmonic depends strongly on the peak intensity of the fundamental pulse. These results can be explained by quantum theory by taking into account the temporal and spatial distribution of the fundamental beam. We present the first (to our best knowledge) femtosecond enhancement cavity in the visible wavelength range for ultraviolet frequency comb generation. The cavity is seeded at 518 nm by a frequency-doubled Yb fiber laser and operates at a peak intensity of 1.2×10(13) W/cm(2). High harmonics of up to the ninth order (~57 nm) are generated in an intracavity xenon gas jet. Intracavity high harmonic powers of several milliwatts for the third harmonic order and microwatts for the fifth harmonic order prove the potential of the "green cavity" as an efficient ultraviolet frequency comb source for future spectroscopic experiments. A limiting degradation effect of the cavity mirrors is avoided by operating at a constant oxygen background pressure.  相似文献

We demonstrate the first experimental complete temporal characterization of high-harmonic XUV pulses by spectral phase interferometry, with an all-optical setup. This method allows us to perform single-shot measurements of the harmonic temporal profile and phase, revealing a remarkable shot-to-shot stability. We characterize harmonics generated in argon by a 50 fs 800 nm laser pulse. The 11th harmonic is found to be 22 fs long with a negative chirp rate of -4.8 x 10(27) s(-2). This duration can be reduced to 13 fs by modulating the polarization of the generating laser. The technique is easy to implement and could be routinely used in femtosecond XUV pump-probe experiments with harmonics.  相似文献

High-order harmonic generation(HHG) driven by two non-collinear beams including a fundamental and its weak second harmonic is numerically studied. The interference of harmonics from adjacent electron quantum paths is found to be dependent on the relative delay of the driving pulse, and the dependences are different for different harmonic orders.This frequency dependence of the interference is attributed to the spatial frequency chirp in the HHG beam resulting from the harmonic dipole phase, which in turn provides a potential way to gain an insight into the generation of high-order harmonics. As an example, the intensity dependent dipole phase coefficient α is retrieved from the interference fringe.  相似文献

Using a multilayer spherical mirror, we focus the high-order harmonic radiation produced near 55 nm by the nonlinear interaction of an intense femtosecond laser pulse and a xenon gas jet. The focused XUV beam is characterized by a knife-edge technique in the focal region and by far-field imaging. We show that good-quality beams, nearly two times diffraction limited, can be generated, a conclusion that is at variance with recent predictions of harmonic phase-front distortion. Spot sizes close to 10 microm are obtained, resulting in a high XUV intensity. Increasing the gas density and the length of the generating medium results in a large increase in the divergence in and degradation of the beam quality.  相似文献

A study of the variation of the spectral shape and the harmonic distribution of the high-order harmonics generated from silver plasma on the frequency chirp of the driving laser radiation (793 nm 48 fs) is reported. The results of the systematic study of the harmonic generation from the 21st order up to the 61st order (λ=13 nm) are presented. We demonstrate a high-throughput, high-damage-threshold beam separator for wavelengths shorter than 30 nm, which uses a 10 nm thick niobium nitrogen film prepared on a Si substrate, set at the Brewster angle relative to the pump wavelength. The film was deposited by rf reactive magnetron sputtering on a Si substrate. The beam separator has an attenuation ratio of 0.01 and a damage-threshold intensity of at least 0.8 TW/cm2 for a 26 fs pump pulse. The measured reflectivity of the beam separator exceeded 70% in a wavelength range of 13-18 nm. This broadband beam separator may be used to eliminate energetic laser pulses from longitudinally pumped x ray lasers as well as from high-order harmonics.  相似文献

In this paper,by using the"frequency up-conversion"principle with a high gain harmonic generation free electron laser and an external seed laser,we consider the possibility of modulating a relativistic electron beam on the attosecond scale,so that it can produce coherent spontaneous radiation from the deep ultraviolet to the hard X-ray spectral region with a very short radiator.Analytical estimation and three-dimensional numerical modeling show the great potential to reach ultra-high harmonics up to several thousand.For an electron bunch with the typical quality as in the free electron laser scheme and a seed laser with 800 nm wavelength,0.8 nm attosecond trains with alterable duration and GW scale peak power are modeled.The output radiation exhibits good shot-to-shot stability,full coherence and perfect tuning ability between the discrete harmonics of the seed frequency.  相似文献

Harmonics up to the 18th order are generated from solid targets by focusing 2 mJ, 50 fs pulses at 800 nm to a spot size of 1.7 μm (FWHM). To our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of high-harmonic generation with a very short focal length paraboloid (f/1.4) and kilohertz laser system. The harmonics have a low divergence (<4°) compared to the driving beam and conversion efficiencies (>10(-7) per harmonic) comparable to gas harmonics. No contrast enhancement techniques are employed, and the system is capable of operating at 500 Hz.  相似文献

We provide the first report on the harmonics generated by an intense femtosecond vector beam that is normally incident on a solid target. By using 2D particle-in-cell(PIC) codes, we observe the third and the fifth harmonic signals with the same vector structure as the driving beam, and obtain an attosecond vector beam pulse train. We also show that the conversion efficiencies of the third and the fifth harmonics reach their maxima for a plasma density of four times the critical density due to the plasma resonating with the driving force. This method provides a new means of generating intense extreme ultraviolet(XUV) vector beams via ultra-intense laser-driven harmonics.  相似文献

We theoretically investigate high-order harmonic and attosecond pulse generation from helium atom in a three-color laser field, which is synthesized by 10 fs/800 nm Ti-sapphire laser and a two-color field consisting of 30 fs/532 nm and30 fs/1330 nm pulses. Compared with harmonic spectrum generated by a monochromatic field, the harmonics generated from the synthesized three-color field show a supercontinuum spectrum with a bandwidth of 235 eV, ranging from the 154 th to the 306 th order harmonic. This phenomenon can be attributed to the fact that the ionization of atoms as well as motion of ionized electron can be effectively controlled in the three-color field. Therefore, an isolated 46-as pulse can be generated by superposing supercontinuum from the 160 th to the 210 th order harmonics.  相似文献

We report the demonstration of strong resonance enhancement of a single high-order harmonic in the extreme ultraviolet (XUV) region generated from the interaction of a femtosecond pulse with low-ionized In ablation. A strong 13th harmonic (61.2 nm) of Ti:sapphire laser radiation with output intensity almost two orders of magnitude higher than neighboring harmonics was observed in these studies. The high conversion efficiency of the 13th harmonic (8 x 10(-5)) is attributed to multiple collisions of electron trajectories with the origin due to multiphoton resonance with the In ion.  相似文献

The harmonic emission from thin solid carbon and aluminum foils, irradiated by 150 fs long frequency-doubled Ti:sapphire laser pulses at lambda=395 nm and peak intensities of a few 10(18) W/cm(2), has been studied. In addition to the harmonics emitted from the front side in the specular direction, we observe harmonics up to the 10th order, including the fundamental from the rear side in the direction of the incident beam, while the foil is still strongly overdense. The experimental observations are well reproduced by particle-in-cell simulations. They reveal that strong coupling between the laser-irradiated side and the rear side occurs via the nonlocal electron current driven by the laser light.  相似文献
