We consider interval exchange transformations of periodic type and construct different classes of ergodic cocycles of dimension?1 over this special class of IETs. Then using Poincaré sections we apply this construction to obtain the recurrence and ergodicity for some smooth flows on non-compact manifolds which are extensions of multivalued Hamiltonian flows on compact surfaces.  相似文献

We present in this paper an approach to studying the topological entropy of a class of billiard systems. In this class, any billiard table consists of strictly convex domain in the plane and strictly convex inner scatterers. Combining the concept of anti-integrable limit with the theory of Lyusternik-Shnirel'man, we show that a billiard system in this class generically admits a set of non-degenerate anti-integrable orbits which corresponds bijectively to a topological Markov chain of arbitrarily large topological entropy. The anti-integrable limit is the singular limit when scatterers shrink to points. In order to get around the singular limit and so as to apply the implicit function theorem, on auxiliary circles encircling these scatterers we define a length functional whose critical points are well-defined at the anti-integrable limit and give rise to billiard orbits when the scatterers are not points. Consequently, we prove the topological entropy of the first return map to the scatterers can be made arbitrarily large provided the inner scatterers are sufficiently small.  相似文献

This paper investigates the well posedness of ordinary differential equations and more precisely the existence (or uniqueness) of a flow through explicit compactness estimates. Instead of assuming a bounded divergence condition on the vector field, a compressibility condition on the flow (bounded Jacobian) is considered. The main result provides existence under the condition that the vector field belongs to BV in dimension 2 and SBV in higher dimensions.  相似文献

We study the existence, uniqueness, and asymptotic stability of time periodic traveling wave solutions to a periodic diffusive Lotka–Volterra competition system. Under certain conditions, we prove that there exists a maximal wave speed c? such that for each wave speed c?c?, there is a time periodic traveling wave connecting two semi-trivial periodic solutions of the corresponding kinetic system. It is shown that such a traveling wave is unique modulo translation and is monotone with respect to its co-moving frame coordinate. We also show that the traveling wave solutions with wave speed c<c? are asymptotically stable in certain sense. In addition, we establish the nonexistence of time periodic traveling waves for nonzero speed c>c?.  相似文献

We give a simple and entirely elementary proof of Gasper's Theorem on the Markov sequence problem for Jacobi polynomials. It is based on the spectral analysis of an operator that arises in the study of a probabilistic model of colliding molecules introduced by Marc Kac, and the methods developed here yield new estimates relevant to the collision model.  相似文献

We construct a functor, which we call the topological Radon transform, from a category of complex algebraic varieties with morphisms given by divergent diagrams, to constructible functions. The topological Radon transform is thus the composition of a pull-back and a push-forward of constructible functions. We show that the Chern-Schwartz-MacPherson transformation makes the topological Radon transform of constructible functions compatible with a certain homological Verdier-Radon transform. We use this set-up to prove, given a projective variety X, a formula for the Chern-Mather class of the dual variety in terms of that of X.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the dynamics of an infinite-dimensional gradient system under small almost periodic perturbations. Under the assumption that the original autonomous system has a global attractor given as the union of unstable manifolds of a finite number of hyperbolic equilibrium solutions, we prove that the perturbed non-autonomous system has exactly the same number of almost periodic solutions. As a consequence, the pullback attractor of the perturbed system is given by the union of unstable manifolds of these finitely many almost periodic solutions. This paper concerns a priori estimates and existence of solutions of generalized mean curvature equations with Dirichlet boundary value conditions in smooth domains. Using the blow-up method with the Liouville-type theorem of the p laplacian equation, we obtain a priori bounds and the estimates of interior gradient for all solutions. The existence of positive solutions is derived by the topological method. We also consider the non-existence of solutions by Pohozaev identities.  相似文献

In this paper we present Sturmian separation and comparison theorems for linear Hamiltonian systems when no controllability assumption is imposed. This generalizes the traditional results of W. T. Reid for controllable (or normal) linear Hamiltonian systems to the possibly abnormal case. Our new theory is based on several recent results on linear Hamiltonian systems without controllability by W. Kratz, M. Wahrheit, V. We consider non-local linear Schrödinger-type critical systems of the type(1) where Ω is antisymmetric potential in L2(R,so(m)), v is an Rm valued map and Ωv denotes the matrix multiplication. We show that every solution vL2(R,Rm) of (1) is in fact in , for every 2?p<+∞, in other words, we prove that the system (1) which is a-priori only critical in L2 happens to have a subcritical behavior for antisymmetric potentials. As an application we obtain the regularity of weak 1/2-harmonic maps into C2 compact sub-manifolds without boundary.  相似文献

We prove an infinite dimensional KAM theorem. As an application, we use the theorem to study the two dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation with periodic boundary conditions. We obtain for the equation a Whitney smooth family of small-amplitude quasi-periodic solutions corresponding to finite dimensional invariant tori of an associated infinite dimensional dynamical system.  相似文献
