In this paper, sixth‐order monotonicity‐preserving optimized scheme (OMP6) for the numerical solution of conservation laws is developed on the basis of the dispersion and dissipation optimization and monotonicity‐preserving technique. The nonlinear spectral analysis method is developed and is used for the purpose of minimizing the dispersion errors and controlling the dissipation errors. The new scheme (OMP6) is simple in expression and is easy for use in CFD codes. The suitability and accuracy of this new scheme have been tested through a set of one‐dimensional, two‐dimensional, and three‐dimensional tests, including the one‐dimensional Shu–Osher problem, the two‐dimensional double Mach reflection, and the Rayleigh–Taylor instability problem, and the three‐dimensional direct numerical simulation of decaying compressible isotropic turbulence. All numerical tests show that the new scheme has robust shock capturing capability and high resolution for the small‐scale waves due to fewer numerical dispersion and dissipation errors. Moreover, the new scheme has higher computational efficiency than the well‐used WENO schemes. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The purpose of the present paper is to evaluate very‐high‐order upwind schemes for the direct numerical simulation (DNS ) of compressible wall‐turbulence. We study upwind‐biased (UW ) and weighted essentially nonoscillatory (WENO ) schemes of increasingly higher order‐of‐accuracy (J. Comp. Phys. 2000; 160 :405–452), extended up to WENO 17 (AIAA Paper 2009‐1612, 2009). Analysis of the advection–diffusion equation, both as Δx→0 (consistency), and for fixed finite cell‐Reynolds‐number ReΔx (grid‐resolution), indicates that the very‐high‐order upwind schemes have satisfactory resolution in terms of points‐per‐wavelength (PPW ). Computational results for compressible channel flow (Re∈[180, 230]; M?CL ∈[0.35, 1.5]) are examined to assess the influence of the spatial order of accuracy and the computational grid‐resolution on predicted turbulence statistics, by comparison with existing compressible and incompressible DNS databases. Despite the use of baseline Ot2) time‐integration and Ox2) discretization of the viscous terms, comparative studies of various orders‐of‐accuracy for the convective terms demonstrate that very‐high‐order upwind schemes can reproduce all the DNS details obtained by pseudospectral schemes, on computational grids of only slightly higher density. A simple methodology for a high‐resolution scheme to be applied to compressible multicomponent flows with shock waves is investigated. The method is intended for use with direct numerical simulation or large eddy simulation of compressible multicomponent flows. The method dynamically adds non‐linear artificial diffusivity locally in space to capture different types of discontinuities such as a shock wave, contact surface or material interface while a high‐order compact differencing scheme resolves a broad range of scales in flows. The method is successfully applied to several one‐dimensional and two‐dimensional compressible multicomponent flow problems with shock waves. The results are in good agreement with experiments and earlier computations qualitatively and quantitatively. The method captures unsteady shock and material discontinuities without significant spurious oscillations if initial start‐up errors are properly avoided. Comparisons between the present numerical scheme and high‐order weighted essentially non‐oscillatory (WENO) schemes illustrate the advantage of the present method for resolving a broad range of scales of turbulence while capturing shock waves and material interfaces. Also the present method is expected to require less computational cost than popular high‐order upwind‐biased schemes such as WENO schemes. The mass conservation for each species is satisfied due to the strong conservation form of governing equations employed in the method. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A complete set of equivalence conditions, relating the mass‐lumped Bubnov–Galerkin finite element (FE) scheme for Lagrangian linear elements to node‐centred finite volume (FV) schemes, is derived for the first time for conservation laws in a three‐dimensional cylindrical reference. Equivalence conditions are used to devise a class of FV schemes, in which all grid‐dependent quantities are defined in terms of FE integrals. Moreover, all relevant differential operators in the FV framework are consistent with their FE counterparts, thus opening the way to the development of consistent hybrid FV/FE schemes for conservation laws in a three‐dimensional cylindrical coordinate system. The two‐dimensional schemes for the polar and the axisymmetrical cases are also explicitly derived. Numerical experiments for compressible unsteady flows, including expanding and converging shock problems and the interaction of a converging shock waves with obstacles, are carried out using the new approach. The results agree fairly well with one‐dimensional simulations and simplified models. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Accurate computations of two‐dimensional turbulent hypersonic shock–shock interactions that arise when single and dual shocks impinge on the bow shock in front of a cylinder are presented. The simulation methods used are a class of lower–upper symmetric‐Gauss–Seidel implicit anti‐diffusive weighted essentially non‐oscillatory (WENO) schemes for solving the compressible Navier–Stokes equations with Spalart–Allmaras one‐equation turbulence model. A numerical flux of WENO scheme with anti‐diffusive flux correction is adopted, which consists of first‐order and high‐order fluxes and allows for a more flexible choice of first‐order dissipative methods. Experimental flow fields of type IV shock–shock interactions with single and dual incident shocks by Wieting are computed. By using the WENO scheme with anti‐diffusive flux corrections, the present solution indicates that good accuracy is maintained and contact discontinuities are sharpened markedly as compared with the original WENO schemes on the same meshes. Computed surface pressure distribution and heat transfer rate are also compared with experimental data and other computational results and good agreement is found. High‐speed compressible turbulent flows typically contain discontinuities and have been widely modeled using Weighted Essentially Non‐Oscillatory (WENO) schemes due to their high‐order accuracy and sharp shock capturing capability. However, such schemes may damp the small scales of turbulence and result in inaccurate solutions in the context of turbulence‐resolving simulations. In this connection, the recently developed Targeted Essentially Non‐Oscillatory (TENO) schemes, including adaptive variants, may offer significant improvements. The present study aims to quantify the potential of these new schemes for a fully turbulent supersonic flow. Specifically, DNS of a compressible turbulent channel flow with M = 1.5 and Reτ = 222 is conducted using OpenSBLI, a high‐order finite difference computational fluid dynamics framework. This flow configuration is chosen to decouple the effect of flow discontinuities and turbulence and focus on the capability of the aforementioned high‐order schemes to resolve turbulent structures. The effect of the spatial resolution in different directions and coarse grid implicit LES are also evaluated against the WALE LES model. The TENO schemes are found to exhibit significant performance improvements over the WENO schemes in terms of the accuracy of the statistics and the resolution of the three‐dimensional vortical structures. The sixth‐order adaptive TENO scheme is found to produce comparable results to those obtained with nondissipative fourth‐ and sixth‐order central schemes and reference data obtained with spectral methods. Although the most computationally expensive scheme, it is shown that this adaptive scheme can produce satisfactory results if used as an implicit LES model.  相似文献

Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) and linear analysis of a shock interacting with incompressible and compressible isotropic turbulence is conducted. A dependence of amplification ratios on the degree of compressibility of the incoming flow is found. It can be shown that the enhancement of rms values of turbulent quantities across the shock varies according to the ratio of compressible to incompressible kinetic energy (exact definition see eq. 8). Inflow conditions with high values of display reduced amplification ratios of TKE and thermodynamic quantities while vorticity fluctuations are enhanced more strongly. The different behaviour of the turbulent kinetic energy (TKE) is due to the reduced pressure diffusion term in the TKE-equation. Experiments show qualitatively a similar behaviour as the simulation with incompressible inflow conditions, but they could so far not confirm our findings of reduced amplification rates in the compressible case, one of the reasons being the lack of knowledge of all flow parameters upstream of the shock front and the inability to generate isotropic turbulence in real life experiments. For the DNS we use a third order in space shock-capturing scheme based on the ENO algorithm of Harten [10] together with an approximate Riemann solver. This non-TVD scheme turned out to have many advantages over other common Godunov-type high resolution schemes for the specific problem of a shock interacting with turbulent fields.  相似文献

The resolution of the Saint‐Venant equations for modelling shock phenomena in open‐channel flow by using the second‐order central schemes of Nessyahu and Tadmor (NT) and Kurganov and Tadmor (KT) is presented. The performances of the two schemes that we have extended to the non‐homogeneous case and that of the classical first‐order Lax–Friedrichs (LF) scheme in predicting dam‐break and hydraulic jumps in rectangular open channels are investigated on the basis of different numerical and physical conditions. The efficiency and robustness of the schemes are tested by comparing model results with analytical or experimental solutions. Copyright © 2003 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this study, the advection upwinding splitting method (AUSM) is modified for the resolution of two‐phase mixtures with interfaces. The compressible two‐fluid model proposed by Saurel and Abgrall is chosen as the model equations. Dense and dilute phases are described in terms of the volume fraction and equations of state to represent multi‐phase mixtures. Test cases involving an air–water shock tube, water faucet, and dilute particulate turbulent flows through a 90° bend are used to verify the current work. It is shown that the AUSM based on flux differences (AUSMD) contains the mechanism to correctly capture the contact discontinuity and interfaces between phases. In addition, a successful application to dilute particulate turbulence flows by the AUSMD is demonstrated. Copyright © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In the present paper, a numerical method for the computation of time‐harmonic flows, using the time‐linearized compressible Reynolds‐averaged Navier–Stokes equations is developed and validated. The method is based on the linearization of the discretized nonlinear equations. The convective fluxes are discretized using an O(Δx) MUSCL scheme with van Leer flux‐vector‐splitting. Unsteady perturbations of the turbulent stresses are linearized using a frozen‐turbulence‐Reynolds‐number hypothesis, to approximate eddy‐viscosity perturbations. The resulting linear system is solved using a pseudo‐time‐marching implicit ADI‐AF (alternating‐directions‐implicit approximate‐factorization) procedure with local pseudo‐time‐steps, corresponding to a matrix‐successive‐underrelaxation procedure. The stability issues associated with the pseudo‐time‐marching solution of the time‐linearized Navier–Stokes equations are discussed. Comparison of computations with measurements and with time‐nonlinear computations for 3‐D shock‐wave oscillation in a square duct, for various back‐pressure fluctuation frequencies (180, 80, 20 and 10 Hz), assesses the shock‐capturing capability of the time‐linearized scheme. An initially planar shock wave can undergo significant distortion to its shape along with changes in its strength during the period of its interaction with a compressible vortex. This phenomenon is studied by numerically simulating the shock wave-vortex interaction with a high resolution shock-capturing scheme. Incident shock waves of various Mach numbers are made to interact with a compressible vortex and the dependence of the shock wave distortion on the strength of the incident shock wave is studied in detail. It is known that the type of complex shock structure formed in the later stages of a compressible vortex-shock wave interaction is dependent on the Mach number of the incident shock wave. A simple physical model based on the principle of shock wave reflection is proposed to explain this complex shock structure formation and its dependence on the relative strengths of the interacting vortex and shock wave. This paper combines the pseudo‐compressibility procedure, the preconditioning technique for accelerating the time marching for stiff hyperbolic equations, and high‐order accurate central compact scheme to establish the code for efficiently and accurately solving incompressible flows numerically based on the finite difference discretization. The spatial scheme consists of the sixth‐order compact scheme and 10th‐order numerical filter operator for guaranteeing computational stability. The preconditioned pseudo‐compressible Navier–Stokes equations are marched temporally using the implicit lower–upper symmetric Gauss–Seidel time integration method, and the time accuracy is improved by the dual‐time step method for the unsteady problems. The efficiency and reliability of the present procedure are demonstrated by applications to Taylor decaying vortices phenomena, double periodic shear layer rolling‐up problem, laminar flow over a flat plate, low Reynolds number unsteady flow around a circular cylinder at Re = 200, high Reynolds number turbulence flow past the S809 airfoil, and the three‐dimensional flows through two 90°curved ducts of square and circular cross sections, respectively. It is found that the numerical results of the present algorithm are in good agreement with theoretical solutions or experimental data. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper makes the first attempt of extending implicit AUSM‐family schemes to multiphase flow simulations. Water faucet, air–water shock tube and oscillating manometer problems are used as benchmark tests with the generic four‐equation two‐fluid model. For solving the equations implicitly, Newton's method along with a sparse matrix solver (UMFPACK solver) is employed, and the numerical Jacobian matrix is calculated. Comparison between implicit and explicit AUSM‐family schemes is presented, indicating that similarly accurate results are obtained with both schemes. Furthermore, the water faucet problem is solved using both staggered and collocated grids. This investigation helps integrate high‐resolution schemes into staggered‐grid‐based computational algorithms. The influence of the interface pressure correction on the simulation results is also examined. Results show that the interfacial pressure correction introduces numerical dissipation. However, this dissipation cannot eliminate the overshoots because of the incompatibility of numerical discretization of the conservative and non‐conservative terms in the governing equations. The comparison of CPU time between implicit and explicit schemes is also studied, indicating that the implicit scheme is capable of improving the computational efficiency over its explicit counterpart. Turbulence and aeroacoustic noise high‐order accurate schemes are required, and preferred, for solving complex flow fields with multi‐scale structures. In this paper a super compact finite difference method (SCFDM) is presented, the accuracy is analysed and the method is compared with a sixth‐order traditional and compact finite difference approximation. The comparison shows that the sixth‐order accurate super compact method has higher resolving efficiency. The sixth‐order super compact method, with a three‐stage Runge–Kutta method for approximation of the compressible Navier–Stokes equations, is used to solve the complex flow structures induced by vortex–shock interactions. The basic nature of the near‐field sound generated by interaction is studied. Copyright © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A 5-point-stencil optimised nonlinear scheme with spectral-like resolution within the whole wave number range for secondary derivatives is devised. The proposed scheme can compensate for the dissipation deficiency of traditional linear schemes and suppress the spurious energy accumulation that occurs at high wave numbers, both of which are frequently encountered in large eddy simulation. The new scheme is composed of a linear fourth-order central scheme term and an artificial viscosity term. These two terms are connected by a nonlinear weight. The proposed nonlinear weight is designed based on Fourier analysis, rather than Taylor analysis, to guarantee a spectral-like resolution. Moreover, the accuracy is not affected by the optimisation, and the new scheme reaches fourth-order accuracy. The new scheme is tested numerically using the one-dimensional diffusion problem, one-dimensional steady viscous Burger’s shock, two-dimensional vortex decaying, three-dimensional isotropic decaying turbulence and fully developed turbulent channel flow. All the tests confirm that the new scheme has spectral-like resolution and can improve the accuracy of the energy spectrum, dissipation rate and high-order statistics of turbulent flows.  相似文献

The development of new aeronautic projects require accurate and efficient simulations of compressible flows in complex geometries. It is well known that most flows of interest are at least locally turbulent and that the modelling of this turbulence is critical for the reliability of the computations. A turbulence closure model which is both cheap and reasonably accurate is an essential part of a compressible code. An implicit algorithm to solve the 2D and 3D compressible Navier–Stokes equations on unstructured triangular/tetrahedral grids has been extended to turbulent flows. This numerical scheme is based on second-order finite element–finite volume discretization: the diffusive and source terms of the Navier–Stokes equations are computed using a finite element method, while the other terms are computed with a finite volume method. Finite volume cells are built around each node by means of the medians. The convective fluxes are evaluated with the approximate Riemann solver of Roe coupled with the van Albada limiter. The standard k–ϵ model has been introduced to take into account turbulence. Implicit integration schemes with efficient numerical methods (CGS, GMRES and various preconditioning techniques) have also been implemented. Our interest is to present the whole method and to demonstrate its limitations on some well-known test cases in three-dimensional geometries. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In order to solve compressible turbulent flow problems, this study focuses on incorporating the Spalart–Allmaras turbulence model into gas‐kinetic BGK (Bhatnagar–Gross–Krook) scheme. The Spalart–Allmaras turbulence model is solved using finite difference discretization. The variables on the cell interface are interpolated via the van Leer limiter in the reconstruction stage. Simulation of subsonic and transonic flow over a NACA0012 airfoil has been implemented using two‐dimensional body‐fitted grids. The numerical results obtained appear in good agreement with the AGARD results, demonstrating the effectiveness and usefulness of the strategy of coupling the Spalart–Allmaras turbulence model with the BGK scheme for compressible turbulent flow simulation. A new numerical method named as basic function method is proposed. It can directly discretize differential operators on unstructured grids. By expanding the basic function to approach the exact function, the central and upwind schemes of derivative are constructed. By using the second-order polynomial as a basic function and applying the flux splitting method and the combination of central and upwind schemes to suppress non-physical fluctuation near shock waves, a second-order basic function scheme of polynomial type is proposed to solve inviscid compressible flows numerically. Numerical results of typical examples for two-dimensional inviscid compressible transonic and supersonic steady flows indicate that the new scheme has high accuracy and high resolution for shock waves. Combined with the adaptive remeshing technique, satisfactory results can be obtained.  相似文献
