The use of distributions (generalized functions) is a powerful tool to treat singularities in structural mechanics and, besides providing a mathematical modelling, their capability of leading to closed form exact solutions is shown in this paper. In particular, the problem of stability of the uniform Euler–Bernoulli column in presence of multiple concentrated cracks, subjected to an axial compression load, under general boundary conditions is tackled. Concentrated cracks are modelled by means of Dirac’s delta distributions. An integration procedure of the fourth order differential governing equation, which is not allowed by the classical distribution theory, is proposed. The exact buckling mode solution of the column, as functions of four integration constants, and the corresponding exact buckling load equation for any number, position and intensity of the cracks are presented. As an example a parametric study of the multi-cracked simply supported and clamped–clamped Euler–Bernoulli columns is presented.  相似文献

The exact solution of the bending of a thick rectangular plate with three clamped edges and one free edge under a uniform transverse load is obtained by means of the concept of generalized simply-supported boundary[1] in Reissner’s theory of thick plates. The effect of the thickness h of a plate on the bending is studied and the applicable range of Kirchhoffs theory for bending of thin plates is considered.  相似文献

Axisymmetric bending of functionally graded circular magneto-electro-elastic plates of transversely isotropic materials is analyzed based on linear three-dimensional theory of elasticity coupled with magnetic and electric fields. The transverse loads are expanded in Fourier-Bessel series and therefore can be arbitrarily distributed along the radial direction. The radial distributions of the displacements are assumed in combination of Fourier-Bessel series and polynomials as well as the electric potential and magnetic potential. If the material properties obey the exponential law along the thickness of the plate, two three-dimensional exact solutions for two unusual boundary conditions can be derived since they satisfy the governing equations and specified boundary conditions point by point. For simply supported or clamped boundary, the obtained solutions satisfy the governing equations exactly and the boundary conditions approximately. A layer wise model is also introduced to treat with the plates whose material property components vary independently and arbitrarily along the thickness of the plates. The numerical results are finally tabulated and plotted to demonstrate the presented method and agree well with those from finite element methods.  相似文献

通过把固支边上的边界位移函数作为状态变量引入状态方程,得到了含固支边矩形单层与叠层厚板的精确解. 在求解过程中,将非齐次状态方程的求解变为齐次状态方程的求解,省略了求解待定常数的中间过程,使求解过程变得简单. 所得到的解能够严格满足固支边界条件,在同一材料层内不需作分层处理,因而更加精确. 此外,对固支边的应力提出了新的计算方法,能够得到更精确的边界应力. 算例表明,本文解比现有精确解收敛快,与有限元解吻合的更好,尤其是在固支边处体现得更加明显.  相似文献

Delamination of a symmetric circular plate made of viscoelastic composite is studied. It is assumed that the plate has a penny-shaped crack whose edges have a minor axisymmetric imperfection. The lateral surface of the plate is clamped and is compressed by uniform radial normal forces through a rigid body. The studies are made using the exact geometrically nonlinear equations of the theory of viscoelasticity. The delamination criterion is assumed unrestrained growth of the initial imperfection. The Laplace transform and FEM are employed. In particular cases, the results are compared with those for elastic composites  相似文献

The edge effects of a sandwich plate with a “soft” core and free edges, i.e. the plate is supported only at the lower face-sheet, and the upper face-sheet and the core are free of stresses at their edges, using the high order approach (HSAPT), are presented. The two-dimensional analysis consists of a mathematical formulation that uses the classical thin plate theory for the face-sheets and a three-dimensional elasticity theory for the core. The governing equations and the required boundary conditions are derived explicitly through variational principals, yielding a system of eight partial differential equations. The non-homogeneous differential equations system is numerically solved using a modification of the extended Kantorovich method (MEKM). The model presented enables a two-dimensional solution of the stress and displacement fields when subjected to a general scheme of loads. It is applicable to any type of boundary conditions that can be applied separately on each face-sheet and on the core. A numerical study is presented, and it examines the behavior and the two-dimensional stress field of a sandwich plate with free edges, at the upper face-sheet and core, subjected to thermal and uniformly distributed loads, for various boundary conditions at the lower face-sheet. For completeness, the MEKM solution of the two-dimensional high order model is verified through comparison with a three-dimensional Finite Element model revealing good correlation. Furthermore, the problems involved in the construction of an appropriate three-dimensional FE model of a full scale sandwich plate that require large computer resources are discussed.The numerical study yields that the peeling (normal) stresses, which reach their maximum values at the edges of the sandwich plate, using a one-dimensional analysis, varies also in the transverse direction from a maximum value in the middle of the edge, descending towards the corners. Moreover, the nature of variation along the boundaries strongly depends on the type of loading and the transverse boundary conditions. The substantial variation of the stress field in the transverse direction clearly shows the necessity of a two-dimensional analysis and the inefficiencies of the one-dimensional model.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a non-local non-linear finite element formulation for the Timoshenko beam theory. The proposed formulation also takes into consideration the surface stress effects. Eringen׳s non-local differential model has been used to rewrite the non-local stress resultants in terms of non-local displacements. Geometric non-linearities are taken into account by using the Green–Lagrange strain tensor. A C0 beam element with three degrees of freedom has been developed. Numerical solutions are obtained by performing a non-linear analysis for bending and free vibration cases. Simply supported and clamped boundary conditions have been considered in the numerical examples. A parametric study has been performed to understand the effect of non-local parameter and surface stresses on deflection and vibration characteristics of the beam. The solutions are compared with the analytical solutions available in the literature. It has been shown that non-local effect does not exist in the nano-cantilever beam (Euler–Bernoulli beam) subjected to concentrated load at the end. However, there is a significant effect of non-local parameter on deflections for other load cases such as uniformly distributed load and sinusoidally distributed load (Cheng et al. (2015) [10]). In this work it has been shown that for a cantilever beam with concentrated load at free end, there is definitely a dependency on non-local parameter when Timoshenko beam theory is used. Also the effect of local and non-local boundary conditions has been demonstrated in this example. The example has also been worked out for other loading cases such as uniformly distributed force and sinusoidally varying force. The effect of the local or non-local boundary conditions on the end deflection in all these cases has also been brought out.  相似文献

基于形状记忆合金Brinson一维热力学本构关系和von K\'{a}rm\'{a}n几何非线性薄板理论,研究了径向嵌入SMA丝复合材料加热圆板在横向均布 机械载荷作用下的弯曲响应, 获得了周边不可移简支和夹紧圆板的中心最大挠度与升温之间的关系曲线. 结果表明,形状 记忆合金丝在从马氏体向奥氏体的逆相变过程中所产生的相变回复力对板的弯曲变形具有明 显的调整作用. 通过嵌入SMA纤维丝和施加升温载荷可以主动而有效地调节受机 械载荷作用圆板的弯曲变形.  相似文献

Symmetric laminated plates used usually are anisotropic plates. Based on the fundamental equation for anisotropic rectangular plates in plane stress problem, a general analytical solution is established accurately by method of stress function. Therefore the general formula of stress and displacement in plane is given. The integral constants in general formula can be determined by boundary conditions. This general solution is composed of solutions made by trigonometric function and hyperbolic function, which can satisfy the problem of arbitrary boundary conditions along four edges, and the algebraic polynomial solutions which can satisfy the problem of boundary conditions at four corners. Consequently this general solution can be used to solve the plane stress problem with arbitrary boundary conditions. For example, a symmetric laminated square plate acted with uniform normal load, tangential load and nonuniform normal load on four edges is calculated and analyzed.  相似文献

The paper presents the results of an experimental as well as analytical investigation on the behavior of square hyperbolic-paraboloid (hypar) shell, subjected to uniformly distributed load and clamped all along the boundaries. The experimental investigation involves casting and testing of a microconcrete model of size 1000 mm×1000 mm, rise 222 mm and shell thickness 15 mm, clamped along all the four edges. The experimental results within elastic limit are compared with the results of a finite-element analysis using a doubly curved triangular shell element. The model was tested to destruction to study the behavior of the shell at ultimate load stage.  相似文献

Axisymmetric buckling analysis is presented for moderately thick laminated shallow, truncated conical caps under transverse load. Buckling under uniformly distributed loads and ring loads applied statically or as step function loads is considered. Marguerre-type, first-order shear deformation shallow shell theory is formulated in terms of transverse deflection w, the rotation ψ of the normal to the mid-surface and the stress function Φ. The governing equations are solved by the orthogonal point collocation method. Truncated conical caps with a circular opening, which is either free or plugged by a rigid central mass, have been analysed for clamped and simple supports with movable and immovable edge conditions. Typical numerical results are presented illustrating the effect of various parameters.  相似文献
