We use a classical result of Golinskii and Ibragimov to prove an analog of the strong Szegő theorem for Jacobi matrices on . In particular, we consider the class of Jacobi matrices with conditionally summable parameter sequences and find necessary and sufficient conditions on the spectral measure such that and lie in , the linearly-weighted l 2 space. In this paper we prove a sufficient condition, in terms of the behavior of a ground state of a symmetric critical operator P 1, such that a nonzero subsolution of a symmetric nonnegative operator P 0 is a ground state. Particularly, if P j : = ?Δ + V j , for j = 0,1, are two nonnegative Schrödinger operators defined on \(\Omega\subseteq \mathbb{R}^d\) such that P 1 is critical in Ω with a ground state φ, the function \(\psi\nleq 0\) is a subsolution of the equation P 0 u = 0 in Ω and satisfies \(\psi_+\leq C\varphi\) in Ω, then P 0 is critical in Ω and \(\psi\) is its ground state. In particular, \(\psi\) is (up to a multiplicative constant) the unique positive supersolution of the equation P 0 u = 0 in Ω. Similar results hold for general symmetric operators, and also on Riemannian manifolds.  相似文献

We develop a Lagrangian formulation for classical systems with a general nonholonomic constraints by utilizing the so-called velocity-determined virtual-displacement conditions, i.e. by assuming the virtual displacements to be along the direction of the velocities in a special reference frame. It is shown that our general scheme encompasses as special cases the Chetaev and Voronets approaches when the constraints are homogeneous or linear in relative velocities.  相似文献

In this paper, we developed a new parametrization method to calculate the localization length in onedimensional Anderson model with diagonal disorder. This method can avoid the divergence difficulty encountered in the conventional methods, and significantly save computing time as well.  相似文献

We develop a resonance theory to describe the evolution of open systems with time-dependent dynamics. Our approach is based on piecewise constant Hamiltonians: we represent the evolution on each constant bit using a recently developed dynamical resonance theory, and we piece them together to obtain the total evolution. The initial state corresponding to one time-interval with constant Hamiltonian is the final state of the system corresponding to the interval before. This results in a non-Markovian dynamics. We find a representation of the dynamics in terms of resonance energies and resonance states associated to the Hamiltonians, valid for all times t≥0 and for small (but fixed) interaction strengths. The representation has the form of a path integral over resonances. We present applications to a spin-fermion system, where the energy levels of the spin may undergo rather arbitrary crossings in the course of time. In particular, we find the probability for transition between ground- and excited state at all times.  相似文献

We introduce a model of branching Brownian motions in time-space random environment associated with the Poisson random measure. We prove that, if the randomness of the environment is moderated by that of the Brownian motion, the population density satisfies a central limit theorem and the growth rate of the population size is the same as its expectation with strictly positive probability. We also characterize the diffusive behavior of our model in terms of the decay rate of the replica overlap. On the other hand, we show that, if the randomness of the environment is strong enough, the growth rate of the population size is strictly less than its expectation almost surely. To do this, we use a connection between our model and the model of Brownian directed polymers in random environment introduced by Comets and Yoshida. For billiards with a hyperbolic behavior, Fundamental Theorems ensure an abundance of geometrically nicely situated and sufficiently large stable and unstable invariant manifolds. A Transversal Fundamental Theorem has recently been suggested by the present authors to proveglobal ergodicity (and then, as an easy consequence, the K-property) of semidispersing billiards, in particular, the global ergodicity of systems ofN3 elastic hard balls conjectured by the celebratedBoltzmann-Sinai ergodic hypothesis. (In fact, the suggested Transversal Fundamental Theorem has been successfully applied by the authors in the casesN=3 and 4.) The theorem generalizes the Fundamental Theorem of Chernov and Sinai that was really the fundamental tool to obtainlocal ergodicity of semi-dispersing billiards. Our theorem, however, is stronger even in their case, too, since its conditions are simpler and weaker. Moreover, a complete set of conditions is formulated under which the Fundamental Theorem and its consequences like the Zig-zag theorem are valid for general semi-dispersing billiards beyond the utmost interesting case of systems of elastic hard balls. As an application, we also give conditions for the ergodicity (and, consequently, the K-property) of dispersing-billiards. Transversality means the following: instead of the stable and unstable foliations occurring in the Chernov-Sinai formulation of the stable version of the Fundamental Theorem, we use the stable foliation and an arbitrary nice one transversal to the stable one.Dedicated to Joel L. We want to point out the following strengthening of the classical theorem of Groenewold and van Hove:There exists no mapping Op from polynomial observables f(p,q) on the phase space R^2n into linear operators on L^2 (R^n) which would map Poisson brackets into commutators, the position and momentum observables p and q into the usual (Schrodinger) position and momentum operators, and would obey the von Neumann rule Op (cf^k)=cDp(f)^k for k=1,2,3 and c∈R.The point is that neither linearity, nor continuity etc.of Op are assumed.  相似文献

We consider a smooth groupoid of the form Σ⋊Γ, where Σ is a Riemann surface and Γ a discrete pseudogroup acting on Σ by local conformal diffeomorphisms. After defining a K-cycle on the crossed product C 0(Σ)⋊Γ generalising the classical Dolbeault complex, we compute its Chern character in cyclic cohomology, using the index theorem of Connes and Moscovici. This involves in particular a generalisation of the Euler class constructed from the modular automorphism group of the von Neumann algebra L (Σ)⋊Γ. The path of a tracer particle through a porous medium is typically modeled by a stochastic differential equation (SDE) driven by Brownian noise. This model may not be adequate for highly heterogeneous media. This paper extends the model to a general SDE driven by a Lévy noise. Particle paths follow a Markov process with long jumps. Their transition probability density solves a forward equation derived here via pseudo-differential operator theory and Fourier analysis. In particular, the SDE with stable driving noise has a space-fractional advection-dispersion equation (fADE) with variable coefficients as the forward equation. This result provides a stochastic solution to anomalous diffusion models, and a solid mathematical foundation for particle tracking codes already in use for fractional advection equations.  相似文献

We define a special class of quantum operations we call Markovian and show that it has the same spectral properties as a corresponding Markov chain. We then consider a convex combination of a quantum operation and a Markovian quantum operation and show that under a norm condition its spectrum has the same properties as in the conclusion of the Perron–Frobenius theorem if its Markovian part does. Moreover, under a compatibility condition of the two operations, we show that its limiting distribution is the same as the corresponding Markov chain. We apply our general results to partially decoherent quantum random walks with decoherence strength \(0 \le p \le 1\). We obtain a quantum ergodic theorem for partially decoherent processes. We show that for \(0 < p \le 1\), the limiting distribution of a partially decoherent quantum random walk is the same as the limiting distribution for the classical random walk.  相似文献

We establish a Mermin–Wagner type theorem for Gibbs states on infinite random Lorentzian triangulations (LT) arising in models of quantum gravity. Such a triangulation is naturally related to the distribution P of a critical Galton–Watson tree, conditional upon non-extinction. At the vertices of the triangles we place classical spins taking values in a torus M of dimension d, with a given group action of a torus G of dimension d′≤d. In the main body of the paper we assume that the spins interact via a two-body nearest-neighbor potential U(x,y) invariant under the action of G. We analyze quenched Gibbs measures generated by U and prove that, for P-almost all Lorentzian triangulations, every such Gibbs measure is G-invariant, which means the absence of spontaneous continuous symmetry-breaking.  相似文献

To asymptotic complete scattering systems {M ++V,M +} on H+:=L2(R+,K{\mathcal{H}}_{+}:=L^{2}(\mathbf{R}_{+},{\mathcal{K}}, d λ), where M + is the multiplication operator on H+{\mathcal{H}}_{+} and V is a trace class operator with analyticity conditions, a decay semigroup is associated such that the spectrum of the generator of this semigroup coincides with the set of all resonances (poles of the analytic continuation of the scattering matrix into the lower half plane across the positive half line), i.e. the decay semigroup yields a “time-dependent” characterization of the resonances. As a counterpart a “spectral characterization” is mentioned which is due to the “eigenvalue-like” properties of resonances.  相似文献

We show that any N-qubit state which is diagonal in the Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger basis is full N-qubit entangled state if and only if no partial transpose of the multiqubit state is positive with respect to any partition.  相似文献

A magnetometer designed for permanent magnet manufacturing and operated around 25 mT with 10 ppm absolute accuracy is described. The magnetometer uses pulse electron paramagnetic resonance methodology. The use of a pulsed broadband acquisition allowed reliable measurements in the presence of the magnetic field gradient and in relatively inhomogeneous magnetic fields of un-shimmed magnets.  相似文献

In the foundations of quantum mechanics Gleason’s theorem dictates the uniqueness of the state transition probability via the inner product of the corresponding state vectors in Hilbert space, independent of which measurement context induces this transition. We argue that the state transition probability should not be regarded as a secondary concept which can be derived from the structure on the set of states and properties, but instead should be regarded as a primitive concept for which measurement context is crucial. Accordingly, we adopt an operational approach to quantum mechanics in which a physical entity is defined by the structure of its set of states, set of properties and the possible (measurement) contexts which can be applied to this entity. We put forward some elementary definitions to derive an operational theory from this State–COntext–Property (SCOP) formalism. We show that if the SCOP satisfies a Gleason-like condition, namely that the state transition probability is independent of which measurement context induces the change of state, then the lattice of properties is orthocomplemented, which is one of the ‘quantum axioms’ used in the Piron–Solèr representation theorem for quantum systems. In this sense we obtain a possible physical meaning for the orthocomplementation widely used in quantum structures.  相似文献

We compute explicitly the monodromy representations of “cyclotomic” analogs of the Knizhnik–Zamolodchikov differential system. These are representations of the type B braid group Bn1{B_n^1} . We show how the representations of the braid group B n obtained using quantum groups and universal R-matrices may be enhanced to representations of Bn1{B_n^1} using dynamical twists. Then, we show how these “algebraic” representations may be identified with the above “analytic” monodromy representations.  相似文献

We study the transition probabilities for the totally asymmetric simple exclusion process (TASEP) on the infinite integer lattice with a finite, but arbitrary number of first and second class particles. Using the Bethe ansatz we present an explicit expression of these quantities in terms of the Bethe wave function. In a next step it is proved rigorously that this expression can be written in a compact determinantal form for the case where the order of the first and second class particles does not change in time. An independent geometrical approach provides insight into these results and enables us to generalize the determinantal solution to the multi-class TASEP.  相似文献
