On a generalized Kirchhoff equation with sublinear nonlinearities

In this paper, we consider a generalized Kirchhoff equation in a bounded domain under the effect of a sublinear nonlinearity. Under suitable assumptions on the data of the problem, we show that, with a simple change of variable, the equation can be reduced to a classical semilinear equation and then studied with standard tools. Under some conditions, the energy decaying and blow-up of solution are discussed. Error Estimates for Finite Element Approximations of a Viscous Wave Equation

We consider a family of fully discrete finite element schemes for solving a viscous wave equation, where the time integration is based on the Newmark method. A rigorous stability analysis based on the energy method is developed. Optimal error estimates in both time and space are obtained. For sufficiently smooth solutions, it is demonstrated that the maximal error in the L ²-norm over a finite time interval converges optimally as O(h ^p+1 + Δt ^s ), where p denotes the polynomial degree, s = 1 or 2, h the mesh size, and Δt the time step.

Rigorous Derivation of a Nonlinear Diffusion Equation as Fast-Reaction Limit of a Continuous Coagulation-Fragmentation Model with Diffusion

Weak solutions of the spatially inhomogeneous (diffusive) Aizenmann–Bak model of coagulation-breakup within a bounded domain with homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions are shown to converge, in the fast reaction limit, towards local equilibria determined by their mass. Moreover, this mass is the solution of a nonlinear diffusion equation whose nonlinearity depends on the (size-dependent) diffusion coefficient. Initial data are assumed to have integrable zero order moment and square integrable first order moment in size, and finite entropy. In contrast to our previous result [5 Carrillo , J. A. , Desvillettes , L. , Fellner , K. ( 2008 ). Fast-reaction limit for the inhomogeneous aizenman-bak model . Kinetic and Related Models 1 : 127 – 137 . [Google Scholar]], we are able to show the convergence without assuming uniform bounds from above and below on the number density of clusters.

On the finite element approximation of elliptic QVIs with noncoercive operators

In this paper, we extend the approach developed by the author for the standard finite element method in the L^∞‐norm of the noncoercive variational inequalities (VI) (Numer Funct Anal Optim.2015;36:1107‐1121.) to impulse control quasi‐variational inequality (QVI). We derive the optimal error estimate, combining the so‐called Bensoussan‐Lions Algorithm and the concept of subsolutions for VIs.     

On the Equation of a Rotating Film

We study positive periodic solutions to a nonautonomous nonlinear third-order ordinary differential equation of the theory of motion of a viscous incompressible fluid with free boundary. This equation describes the steady motions of a thin layer of a fluid film on the surface of a rotating horizontal cylinder in the gravity field. The linear operator on the left-hand side of the equation has a three-dimensional kernel. Moreover, the equation contains two nonnegative parameters proportional to the gravity acceleration and surface tension. Depending on these parameters the problem in question may have either two solutions or no solutions at all. We establish some qualitative properties of solutions to the problem: in particular, their asymptotic behavior at the extremal values of the parameters.

本文首先介绍了结构方程模型和联立方程模型的一般形式、典型实例及其在我国的研究现状。通过将结构方程模型与联立方程模型进行比较,发现结构方程模型具有能直接处理潜变量和测量误差等优点,在管理学、心理学等社会科学中具有广泛应用;但是结构方程模型对样本量要求大、对抽样、问卷设计和调查过程的缺陷以及忽略变量等模型的设定错误不能弥补;而且,结构方程模型的参数不如联立方程模型的含义那么具体而直观。

In this paper, we consider the Liouville-type theorem for stable solutions of the following Kirchhoff equation ■,where M(t) = a + bt~θ, a 0, b, θ≥ 0, θ = 0 if and only if b = 0.
