Let A be an absolute valued algebra with involution, in the sense of Urbanik [K. Urbanik, Absolute valued algebras with an involution, Fund. Math. 49 (1961) 247-258]. We prove that A is finite-dimensional if and only if the algebra obtained by symmetrizing the product of A is simple, if and only if eAs = As, where e denotes the unique nonzero self-adjoint idempotent of A, and As stands for the set of all skew elements of A. We determine the idempotents of A, and show that A is the linear hull of the set of its idempotents if and only if A is equal to either McClay’s algebra [A.A. Albert, A note of correction, Bull. Amer. Math. Soc. 55 (1949) 1191], the para-quaternion algebra, or the para-octonion algebra. We also prove that, if A is infinite-dimensional, then it can be enlarged to an absolute valued algebra with involution having a nonzero idempotent different from the unique nonzero self-adjoint idempotent.  相似文献

It is proved that, for any metabelian Mal'tsev algebra M over a field of characteristic 2,3, there is an alternative algebra A such that the algebra M can be embedded in the commutator algebra A(-). Moreover, the enveloping alternative algebra A can be found in the variety of algebras with the identity [x,y][z,t] = 0. The proof of this result is based on the construction of additive bases of the free metabelian Mal'tsev algebra and the free alternative algebra with the identity [x,y][z,t] = 0.  相似文献

Let ? be a zero-product preserving bijective bounded linear map from a unital algebra A onto a unital algebra B such that ?(1)=k. We show that if A is a CSL algebra on a Hilbert space or a J-lattice algebra on a Banach space then there exists an isomorphism ψ from A onto B such that ?=kψ. For a nest algebra A in a factor von Neumann algebra, we characterize the linear maps on A such that δ(x)y+xδ(y)=0 for all x,yA with xy=0.  相似文献

We consider the combinatorial Dyson-Schwinger equation X=B+(P(X)) in the non-commutative Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra of planar rooted trees HNCK, where B+ is the operator of grafting on a root, and P a formal series. The unique solution X of this equation generates a graded subalgebra AN,P of HNCK. We describe all the formal series P such that AN,P is a Hopf subalgebra. We obtain in this way a 2-parameters family of Hopf subalgebras of HNCK, organized into three isomorphism classes: a first one, restricted to a polynomial ring in one variable; a second one, restricted to the Hopf subalgebra of ladders, isomorphic to the Hopf algebra of quasi-symmetric functions; a last (infinite) one, which gives a non-commutative version of the Faà di Bruno Hopf algebra. By taking the quotient, the last class gives an infinite set of embeddings of the Faà di Bruno algebra into the Connes-Kreimer Hopf algebra of rooted trees. Moreover, we give an embedding of the free Faà di Bruno Hopf algebra on D variables into a Hopf algebra of decorated rooted trees, together with a non-commutative version of this embedding.  相似文献

Let A be a Banach algebra. The second dual A** can be equipped with two multiplications, each of which is a natural extension of the original multiplication in A. The algebra A is said to be Arens regular if these two multiplications coincide. We give necessary (and, for some classes of algebras, sufficient) conditions for the regularity of a Segal algebra. We also obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the weak complete continuity of a Segal algebra.  相似文献

We show that if A is a finite-dimensional associative H-module algebra for an arbitrary Hopf algebra H, then the proof of the analog of Amitsur’s conjecture for H-codimensions of A can be reduced to the case when A is H-simple. (Here we do not require that the Jacobson radical of A is an H-submodule.) As an application, we prove that if A is a finite-dimensional associative H-module algebra where H is a Hopf algebra H over a field of characteristic 0 such that H is constructed by an iterated Ore extension of a finite-dimensional semisimple Hopf algebra by skew-primitive elements (e.g., H is a Taft algebra), then there exists integer PIexpH(A). In order to prove this, we study the structure of algebras simple with respect to an action of an Ore extension.  相似文献

We study certain commutative regular semisimple Banach algebras which we call hyper-Tauberian algebras. We first show that they form a subclass of weakly amenable Tauberian algebras. Then we investigate the basic and hereditary properties of them. Moreover, we show that if A is a hyper-Tauberian algebra, then the linear space of bounded derivations from A into any Banach A-bimodule is reflexive. We apply these results to the Figà-Talamanca-Herz algebra Ap(G) of a locally compact group G for p∈(1,∞). We show that Ap(G) is hyper-Tauberian if the principal component of G is abelian. Finally, by considering the quantization of these results, we show that for any locally compact group G, Ap(G), equipped with an appropriate operator space structure, is a quantized hyper-Tauberian algebra. This, in particular, implies that Ap(G) is operator weakly amenable.  相似文献

We introduce the concept of a universal quantum linear semigroupoid (UQSGd), which is a weak bialgebra that coacts on a (not necessarily connected) graded algebra A universally while preserving grading. We restrict our attention to algebraic structures with a commutative base so that the UQSGds under investigation are face algebras (due to Hayashi). The UQSGd construction generalizes the universal quantum linear semigroups introduced by Manin in 1988, which are bialgebras that coact on a connected graded algebra universally while preserving grading. Our main result is that when A is the path algebra kQ of a finite quiver Q, each of the various UQSGds introduced here is isomorphic to the face algebra attached to Q. The UQSGds of preprojective algebras and of other algebras attached to quivers are also investigated.  相似文献

We construct a basis for the universal multiplicative enveloping algebra U(A) of a right-symmetric algebra A. We prove an analog of the Magnus embedding for right-symmetric algebras; i.e., we prove that a right-symmetric algebra A/R 2, where A is a free right-symmetric algebra, is embedded into the algebra of triangular matrices of the second order.  相似文献

An Artin algebra A is said to be CM-finite if there are only finitely many isomorphism classes of indecomposable finitely generated Gorenstein-projective A-modules. We construct the maximal graded left quotient algebra of every graded algebra A without homogeneous total right zero divisors as the direct limit of graded homomorphisms (of left A-modules) from graded dense left ideals of A into a graded left quotient algebra of A. In the case of a superalgebra, and with some extra hypothesis, we prove that the component in the neutral element of the group of the maximal graded left quotient algebra coincides with the maximal left quotient algebra of the component in the neutral element of the group of the superalgebra.  相似文献

When the base connected cochain DG algebra is cohomologically bounded, it is proved that the difference between the amplitude of a compact DG module and that of the DG algebra is just the projective dimension of that module. This yields the unboundedness of the cohomology of non-trivial regular DG algebras. When A is a regular DG algebra such that H(A) is a Koszul graded algebra, H(A) is proved to have the finite global dimension. And we give an example to illustrate that the global dimension of H(A) may be infinite, if the condition that H(A) is Koszul is weakened to the condition that A is a Koszul DG algebra. For a general regular DG algebra A, we give some equivalent conditions for the Gorensteiness. For a finite connected DG algebra A, we prove that Dc(A) and Dc(A op) admit Auslander-Reiten triangles if and only if A and A op are Gorenstein DG algebras. When A is a non-trivial regular DG algebra such that H(A) is locally finite, Dc(A) does not admit Auslander-Reiten triangles. We turn to study the existence of Auslander-Reiten triangles in Dlfb(A) and Dlfb (A op) instead, when A is a regular DG algebra. Let A be a monomial quasi-hereditary algebra with a pure strong exact Borel subalgebra B.It is proved that the category of induced good modules over B is contained in the category of good modules over A;that the characteristic module of A is an induced module of that of B via the exact functor-(?)_B A if and only if the induced A-module of an injective B-module remains injective as a B-module.Moreover,it is shown that an exact Borel subalgebra of a basic quasi-hereditary serial algebra is right serial and that the characteristic module of a basic quasi-hereditary serial algebra is exactly the induced module of that of its exact Borel subalgebra.  相似文献

In this article, we provide an alternative approach to the definition of a weak Hopf algebra (WHA). For an associative unital algebra A with a coassociative comultiplication Δ ∈Alg u (A, A ? A), the set of homomorphisms from A to A ? A, which do not preserve the units. If the linear maps Ξ1, Ξ2 ∈ End(A ? A), defined by Ξ1(a ? b) = Δ(a)(1 ? b), Ξ2(a ? b) = (a ? 1)Δ(b), are von Neumann regular elements in the ring End(A ? A) of endomorphisms of A ? A satisfying some appropriate assumptions, we call the A a Hopf-type algebra. We show the existence of a target, a source, a counit, and an antipode of A as in the usual WHA.  相似文献
