Order components of a finite group are introduced in Chen (J. Algebra 15 (1996) 184). We prove that PSL(3,q) can be uniquely determined by its order components where q is an odd prime power. A main consequence of our result is the validity of Thompson's conjecture for the groups under consideration.  相似文献

Under the assumption (V = L) we construct countable completely regular spaces X and Y such that the spaces Cp(X) and Cp(Y) of real-valued continuous functions on X and Y, equipped with the pointwise convergence topology, are analytic noncoanalytic and they are not homeomorphic. The author will prove that the group ^2Dp(3) can be uniquely determined by its order components, where p ≠ 2^m + 1 is a prime number, p ≥ 5. More precisely, if OC(G) denotes the set of order components of G, we will prove OC(G) = OC(^2Dp(3)) if and only if G is isomorphic to ^2Dp(3). The Durrmeyer modification, Mn, of the Bernstein operator is a bounded operator on Lp(S) and has many “nice” properties, most notably commutativity and self-adjointness. In this paper, relations between Mn−z.dfnc;Lp(S) and E[√n]()Lp(S) will be given by weak inequalities will imply, for 0<α<1 and 1≤p≤∞, En()Lp(S)=O(n-2α)Mn−z.dfnc;Lp(S)=O(n). It is well known that the best discrete linear Lp approximation converges to a special best Chebyshev approximation as p → ∞. In this paper it is shown that the corresponding result for the case p → 1 is also true. Furthermore, the special best L1 approximation obtained as the limit is characterized as the unique solution of a nonlinear programming problem on the set of all L1 solutions.  相似文献

We extend the geometric approach of Cheney and Loeb in [2] to the problem of approximation in Lp(μ) by “admissable” generalized rational functions. We obtain a characterization for locally best approximations and find the interpolating condition sufficient for their local unicity. Our results are comparable to those for the linear approximation problem as investigated by Singer and Ault, Deutsch, Morris, and Olson.  相似文献

The main problem on caps, posed originally by Segre in the fifties, is to determine the values of k for which there exists a complete k-cap. Very few results on this problem are known. The cardinality of the largest cap(s) and the smallest complete cap(s) are crucial. In this paper it is shown that there exist complete k-caps in PG(3, q), q an odd prime 5 or q = 9, such that k = (q2 + q + 6)/3 or k = (q2 + 2q + 6)/3. For some integer k0 and two graph parameters π and τ, a graph G is called πτ(k)-perfect, if π(H)−τ(H)k for every induced subgraph H of G. For r1 let αr and γr denote the r-(distance)-independence and r-(distance)-domination number, respectively. In (J. Graph Theory 32 (1999) 303–310), I. Zverovich gave an ingenious complete characterization of α1γ1(k)-perfect graphs in terms of forbidden induced subgraphs. In this paper we study αrγs(k)-perfect graphs for r,s1. We prove several properties of minimal αrγs(k)-imperfect graphs. Generalizing Zverovich's main result in (J. Graph Theory 32 (1999) 303–310), we completely characterize α2r−1γr(k)-perfect graphs for r1. Furthermore, we characterize claw-free α2γ2(k)-perfect graphs.  相似文献
