Synthesis and Cyclization of N-(4-Phenoxyphenyl)-β-alanines

We have used the reaction of 4-aminodiphenyl ester with acrylic, methacrylic, crotonic, and itaconic acids to synthesize N-substituted -alanines, which undergo ring closure to form derivatives of dihydropyrimidinedione and 4-carboxy-2-pyrrolidinone. We have studied the reactions of acylation and recyclization of the dihydropyrimidinedione ring, and we have synthesized derivatives of 4-carboxy-1-(4-phenoxyphenyl)-2-pyrrolidinone: arylidene hydrazides, 2[(2-oxo-4-pyrrolidinyl-1-(4-phenoxyphenyl)]benzimidazole.

Synthesis and cyclization of N-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-and N-(2-benzyloxyphenyl)-Β-alanines

N-Substituted -alanines have been synthesized by treating o-aminophenol or o-benzyloxyaniline with acrylic, methacrylic, or crotonic acids. Preparation of aminotriazole-thione derivatives from n-aryl-n-carboxyethyl-β-alanines

Depending on the substituents in the aryl moiety, the fusion of N-aryl-N-ethoxycarbonyl-β-alanines with thiocarbohydrazide gives di- or monotriazole derivatives, namely, 4-amino-(2-{[2-(4-amino-5-thioxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)ethyl]anilino}ethyl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5-thiones, 1-[2-(4-amino- 5-thioxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)ethyl]-2,3-dihydroquinolin-4(1H)-ones, 4-amino-3-[2-(4-methylanilino))ethyl]-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5-thione and 4-amino-3-[2-(4-ethoxyanilino)-ethyl]-4,5-dihydro-1H-1,2,4-triazole-5-thione. A ditriazolethione derivative was also obtained from the diethyl ester of N-ethoxycarbonyl-N-(4-ethoxyphenyl)- β-alanine.     

Cyclization of O-benzoyl-β-piperidinopropionamidoximes to form 5-phenyl-3-(β-piperidino)ethyl-1,2,4-oxadiazoles

The reactions of -piperidinopropionamidoxime with substituted benzoyl chlorides afforded O-benzoylation products, which underwent cyclization to form 5-phenyl-3-(-piperidino)ethyl-1,2,4-oxadiazoles upon heating in dimethylformamide in the presence of molecular sieves at 60 °C for 1—2.5 h. Heating of O-benzoyl--piperidinopropionamidoxime in dimethylformamide in the presence of K₂CO₃ at 85 °C for 4 h afforded a mixture of 5-phenyl-3-(-piperidino)ethyl-1,2,4-oxadiazole, benzoic acid, and N-(-piperidino)ethylurea.     

Crystal structure of N-(β-acetoxyethyl)-4-methylpyridinium bromide

Intramolecular Cyclization of 1-(ω-Phenylalkyl)-2-(nitromethylene)pyrrolidines in Triflic Acid

1-(ω-Phenylalkyl)-2-(nitromethylene)pyrrolidines in triflic acid undergo a C,O-diprotonation, followed by loss of water, to form conjugated iminium–hydroxynitrilium dications, which react with the tethered phenyl ring by electrophilic aromatic substitution to afford tricyclic iminium compounds as triflate salts. The scope and mechanism of this reaction are discussed.     

Electrophilic Cyclization of Dimethyl(ω-phenylaminoalkyl)alkenylsilanes

Unsaturated organosilicon amines [CH₂ = CH(CH₂) _n ]Me₂Si[(CH₂) _m NHPh] at the action of Hg(OAc)₂ in THF solution transform to corresponding heterocycles. Regioselectivity of this intramolecular electrophilic heterocyclization is defined by the position of double bond relatively to the silicon atom. This is caused by -effect of the silyl group.     

Solvent extraction of rhenium with N-(2-hydroxy-5-nonylbenzyl)-β-hydroxyethylmethylamine

Solvent extraction of rhenium from sulfuric acid solutions with aminophenol-class reagent N-(2-hydroxy-5-nonylbenzyl)-β-hydroxyethylmethylamine was studied. Solvent extraction stoichiometry was established. The structure of rhenium complex formed in solvent extraction with N-(2-hydroxy-5-nonylbenzyl)-β-hydroxyethylmethylamine was proposed on the basis of data of IR spectroscopy. Back extraction of rhenium with ammonia solutions was studied.
