Cadmium and its compounds were analysed for oxygen and cadmium by a modification of the Schütze-Unterzaucher method. Oxygen in some compounds such as cadmium oxide, nitrate and sulphate could not be determined by the usual method. The method of adding carbon was employed for the determination of total oxygen. Total oxygen could be determined by the addition of 5 mg of carbon to a sample boat and heating at 950 degrees . The determination was also carried out by addition of naphthalene (2 mg). It was found that the cadmium powder and cadmium flake used contained ca. 1 and 0.15% oxygen, respectively. Oxygen and cadmium in cadmium and its compounds were simultaneously determined by the addition of 2 mg of naphthalene. Cadmium was determined colorimetrically by use of glyoxal-bis-(2-hydroxyanil). Oxygen and cadmium in the samples could be determined simultaneously with an average error of -0.02 and -0.22%, respectively.  相似文献

Vapour pressures of water over saturated solutions of cadmium salts (chloride, bromide, iodide, nitrate, and sulphate) were determined over the temperature range 280 K to 322 K and compared with the literature data. The vapour pressures determined were used to obtain the water activities, osmotic coefficients and the molar enthalpies of vaporization in the (cadmium salt + water) systems.  相似文献

Cadmium and lead metals deposited on CdS particles are shown to act as substrates--electron donors for enzymes, hydrogenase from Thiocapsa roseopersicina (HG), NAD-dependent hydrogenase from Alcaligenes eutrophus (NLH), and ferredoxin:NADP oxidoreductase (FNR) from Chlorella in the formation of hydrogen, NADH and NADPH, respectively. Adsorption of the enzyme on the surface of the metallized CdS particle is required for enzymatic oxidation of metal. The maximum rates for the formation of hydrogen and NADH catalyzed by hydrogenase and NAD-dependent hydrogenase with metals as electron donors are comparable with the rates obtained for these enzymes using soluble substrates. Kinetic analysis of the enzymatic oxidation of cadmium metal has revealed that the rate decreases mainly due to the formation of a solid product, which is supposed to be Cd(OH)2. The deceleration of lead oxidation catalyzed by hydrogenase proceeds at the expense of the inhibitory effect of the formed Pb2+. The enzymatic oxidation of electrochemically prepared cadmium metal is also shown. Based on these results, a new mechanism of action of the enzymes involved in anaerobic biocorrosion is proposed. By this mechanism, the enzyme accelerates the process of metal dissolution through a mediatorless catalysis of the reduction of the enzyme substrate.  相似文献

The determination of free cadmium ions with solid-state cadmium ion-selective electrode can be performed in non-flow measurements in non-buffered solutions in a wide concentration range down to pCd 10. In cadmium ion buffered solutions linear Nernstian response was obtained even down to pCd 12, which is lower, that expected based on calculation of cadmium solubility from the conditional solubility product. Interferences of trace amounts of Fe(III), Cu(II) and Pb(II) commonly present in natural waters in larger concentrations than Cd(II) can be eliminated by reduction with hydroxylamine, complexation with Neocuproine and ion-exchange on anion-exchange resin in sulphate form, respectively. The developed procedure might be suitable for the determination of activity of free cadmium ions in natural water. A preliminary study on this subject is demonstrated for river water sample using stopped-flow flow-injection system.  相似文献

A polarographic method has been developed for the simultaneous determination of cadmium and tellurium in thin-film cadmium telluride. The procedure involves dissolution of the film with concentrated nitric acid, which is subsequently removed by evaporation. The Cd(II) and Te(IV) waves are well separated at pH 10, but sufficient ammonia must be present to prevent the precipitation of cadmium hydroxide.  相似文献

We report the combination of measurement and prediction of X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) data, where the term XAFS refers to the overall spectrum that encompasses both the X-ray Absorption Near Edge Structure (XANES) region as well as the Extended X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (EXAFS) region, to evaluate the cadmium thiolate cluster structures in the metalloprotein metallothionein. XAFS spectra were simulated using coordinates from molecular models of the protein calculated by molecular mechanics/molecular dynamics (MM3/MD), from NMR analyses, and from analysis of X-ray diffraction data. XAFS spectra were also simulated using the coordinates from X-ray crystallographic data for [Cd(SPh)4]2-, CdS, [Cd2(mu-SPh)2(SPh)4]2-, and [Cd4(mu-SPh)6(SPh)4]2-. The simulated XAFS data that were calculated using the FEFF8 program closely resemble the experimental data reported for [Cd(SPh)4]2-, CdS, [Cd2(mu-SPh)2(SPh)4]2-, [Cd4(mu-SPh)6(SPh)4]2-, rabbit liver metallothionein cadmium alpha-domain (Cd4-alpha MT), and cadmium rabbit liver betaalpha metallothionein (Cd7-betaalpha MT). MM3 force field parameters were modified to include cadmium-sulfur bonding and were initially set to values derived from published X-ray diffraction and EXAFS experimental data. The force field was further calibrated and adjusted through comparison between experimental spectra taken from the literature and simulated XAFS spectra calculated using the FEFF8 program in combination with atomic coordinates from MM3/MD energy minimization. MM3/MD techniques were used with the calibrated force field to predict the high-resolution structure of the metal clusters in rabbit liver Cd7-MT. Structures for Cd3S9 (beta) MT and Cd4S11 (alpha) MT domains from MM3/MD calculations and those previously reported for Cd7-MT on the basis of 1H and 113Cd NMR data were compared. Structural differences between the different models for these cadmium thiolate clusters were evident. Combining the measurement and simulation of XAFS data provides an excellent method of assessing, modeling, and predicting metal-binding sites in metalloproteins when X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) data are available.  相似文献

Monolithic aerogels composed of cadmium sulfide nanoparticles partially modified with metallic gold (CdS-Au) are reported. The semiconductor–metal nanoparticles are synthesized using an inverse micelle media of Bis-(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate sodium salt (AOT) in heptane, followed by capping with 4-fluorothiophenol and precipitation with triethylamine. The nanoparticles are then dispersed in acetone and gel formation is achieved using nanoparticle condensation strategy. The resultant CdS-Au aerogel materials are mesoporous, with an interconnected network of semiconductor–metal nanoparticles. A detailed microstructure analysis of the semiconductor–metal aerogels via transmission electron microscopy indicates that the final gold concentration significantly impacts the semiconductor–metal aerogel morphology and porosity.  相似文献

An extraction study was performed on tracer concentrations of cadmium, zinc and silver halides in absence and presence of phosphoric acid. A long chain amine (Amberlite LA-2) and an organophosphorus solvent (TBP) have been investigated. The presence of phosphoric acid was found to enhance considerably the extraction of most halides. The mechanism of extraction has been discussed in light of the obtained results.  相似文献

A rapid and selective radiochemical separaton procedure has been developed based on an amalgam exchange for the determination of sub-ppm levels of cadmium in petroleum. The variables which affect the exchange have been optimized to obtain quantitative yields. Decontamination factors are very high and can be controlled by the use of carriers and hold-back carriers. Precision is better than 10% on average, and accuracy is quite good as proved by comparison to results obtained via flameless atomic absorption.  相似文献

An extraction study was performed on various concentrations of cadmium, zinc and cobalt halides in the presence of sulphuric acid. A long chain amine (Amberlite LA-2) and an organophosphorus solvent (TBP) have been investigated. In most cases the value of the distribution ratio decreases with the increase of metal concentration in the aqueous phase.
