A graph G is clique-perfect if the cardinality of a maximum clique-independent set of H equals the cardinality of a minimum clique-transversal of H, for every induced subgraph H of G. A graph G is coordinated if the minimum number of colors that can be assigned to the cliques of H in such a way that no two cliques with non-empty intersection receive the same color equals the maximum number of cliques of H with a common vertex, for every induced subgraph H of G. Coordinated graphs are a subclass of perfect graphs. The complete lists of minimal forbidden induced subgraphs for the classes of clique-perfect and coordinated graphs are not known, but some partial characterizations have been obtained. In this paper, we characterize clique-perfect and coordinated graphs by minimal forbidden induced subgraphs when the graph is either paw-free or {gem, W4, bull}-free, both superclasses of triangle-free graphs.  相似文献

A graph is said to beK 1,3-free if it contains noK 1,3 as an induced subgraph. It is shown in this paper that every 2-connectedK 1,3-free graph contains a connected [2,3]-factor. We also obtain that every connectedK 1,3-free graph has a spanning tree with maximum degree at most 3. Let r ≥ 3, nr and π = (d 1, d 2, ..., d n ) be a non-increasing sequence of nonnegative integers. If π has a realization G with vertex set V (G) = {v 1, v 2, ..., v n } such that d G (v i ) = d i for i = 1, 2, ..., n and v 1 v 2 ... v r v 1 is a cycle of length r in G, then π is said to be potentially C r ″-graphic. In this paper, we give a characterization for π to be potentially C r ″-graphic. We study the amply regular diameter d graphs Γ such that for some vertex a the set of vertices at distance d from a is the set of points of a 2-design whose set of blocks consists of the intersections of the neighborhoods of points with the set of vertices at distance d-1 from a. We prove that the subgraph induced by the set of points is a clique, a coclique, or a strongly regular diameter 2 graph. For diameter 3 graphs we establish that this construction is a 2-design for each vertex a if and only if the graph is distance-regular and for each vertex a the subgraph Γ3(a) is a clique, a coclique, or a strongly regular graph. We obtain the list of admissible parameters for designs and diameter 3 graphs under the assumption that the subgraph induced by the set of points is a Seidel graph. We show that some of the parameters found cannot correspond to distance-regular graphs.  相似文献

The generalized Petersen graphsP(n,k), n≥3, 1≤k<n/2, consist of an outern-cyclex o x 1 x 2...x n−1 , a set ofn spokesx i y i (0≤in−1), andn inner edgesy i y i +k with indices taken modulon. This paper deals with (a,b)-consecutive labelings of generalized Petersen graphP(n,k).  相似文献

A dominating set in a graph G is a connected dominating set of G if it induces a connected subgraph of G. The minimum number of vertices in a connected dominating set of G is called the connected domination number of G, and is denoted by γ c (G). Let G be a spanning subgraph of K s,s and let H be the complement of G relative to K s,s ; that is, K s,s = GH is a factorization of K s,s . The graph G is k-γ c -critical relative to K s,s if γ c (G) = k and γ c (G + e) < k for each edge eE(H). First, we discuss some classes of graphs whether they are γ c -critical relative to K s,s . Then we study k-γ c -critical graphs relative to K s,s for small values of k. In particular, we characterize the 3-γ c -critical and 4-γ c -critical graphs.  相似文献

A graph H is called a supersubdivison of a graph G if H is obtained from G by replacing every edge uv of G by a complete bipartite graph K2,m (m may vary for each edge) by identifying u and v with the two vertices in K2,m that form one of the two partite sets. We denote the set of all such supersubdivision graphs by SS(G). Then, we prove the following results.
1. Each non-trivial connected graph G and each supersubdivision graph HSS(G) admits an α-valuation. Consequently, due to the results of Rosa (in: Theory of Graphs, International Symposium, Rome, July 1966, Gordon and Breach, New York, Dunod, Paris, 1967, p. 349) and El-Zanati and Vanden Eynden (J. Combin. Designs 4 (1996) 51), it follows that complete graphs K2cq+1 and complete bipartite graphs Kmq,nq can be decomposed into edge disjoined copies of HSS(G), for all positive integers m,n and c, where q=|E(H)|.
2. Each connected graph G and each supersubdivision graph in SS(G) is strongly n-elegant, where n=|V(G)| and felicitous.
3. Each supersubdivision graph in EASS(G), the set of all even arbitrary supersubdivision graphs of any graph G, is cordial.
Further, we discuss a related open problem.  相似文献

Let K m,nbe a complete bipartite graph with two partite sets having m and n vertices, respectively. A K p,q-factorization of K m,n is a set of edge-disjoint K p,q-factors of K m,n which partition the set of edges of K m,n. When p = 1 and q is a prime number, Wang, in his paper “On K 1,k -factorizations of a complete bipartite graph” (Discrete Math, 1994, 126: 359—364), investigated the K 1,q -factorization of K m,nand gave a sufficient condition for such a factorization to exist. In the paper “K 1,k -factorizations of complete bipartite graphs” (Discrete Math, 2002, 259: 301—306), Du and Wang extended Wang’s result to the case that q is any positive integer. In this paper, we give a sufficient condition for K m,n to have a K p,q-factorization. As a special case, it is shown that the Martin’s BAC conjecture is true when p : q = k : (k+ 1) for any positive integer k.  相似文献

We introduce a new class of graphs which we call P 3-dominated graphs. This class properly contains all quasi-claw-free graphs, and hence all claw-free graphs. Let G be a 2-connected P 3-dominated graph. We prove that G is hamiltonian if α(G 2) ≤ κ(G), with two exceptions: K 2,3 and K 1,1,3. We also prove that G is hamiltonian, if G is 3-connected and |V(G)| ≤ 5δ(G) − 5. These results extend known results on (quasi-)claw-free graphs. A k-ranking of a graph G = (V, E) is a mapping ϕ: V → {1, 2, ..., k} such that each path with end vertices of the same colour c contains an internal vertex with colour greater than c. The ranking number of a graph G is the smallest positive integer k admitting a k-ranking of G. In the on-line version of the problem, the vertices v 1, v 2, ..., v n of G arrive one by one in an arbitrary order, and only the edges of the induced graph G[{v 1, v 2, ..., v i }] are known when the colour for the vertex v i has to be chosen. The on-line ranking number of a graph G is the smallest positive integer k such that there exists an algorithm that produces a k-ranking of G for an arbitrary input sequence of its vertices. We show that there are graphs with arbitrarily large difference and arbitrarily large ratio between the ranking number and the on-line ranking number. We also determine the on-line ranking number of complete n-partite graphs. The question of additivity and heredity is discussed as well.  相似文献

Let Г be a simple connected graph and let G be a group of automorphisms of Г. Г is said to be (G, 2)-arc transitive if G is transitive on the 2-arcs of Г. It has been shown that there exists a family of non-quasiprimitive (PSU3(q), 2)-arc transitive graphs where q = 2^3m with m an odd integer. In this paper we investigate the case where q is an odd prime power.  相似文献

It is shown in [4] that if a normal matrix,A satisfies some conditions then |C,1| k summability implies |A| k summability wherek≥1. In the present paper, we consider the converse implication.  相似文献

A Variation of an Extremal Theorem Due to Woodall   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We consider a variation of an extremal theorem due to Woodall [12, or 1, Chapter 3] as follows: Determine the smallest even integer (3C1,n), such that every n-term graphic sequence = (d1, d2,..., dn) with term sum () = d1 + d2 + ... + dn (3C1,n) has a realization G containing a cycle of length r for each r = 3,4,...,l. In this paper, the values of (3Cl,n) are determined for l = 2m – 1,n 3m – 4 and for l = 2m,n 5m – 7, where m 4.AMS Mathematics subject classification (1991) 05C35Project supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Grant No. 19971086) and the Doctoral Program Foundation of National Education Department of China  相似文献

Let G be an outerplanar graph with maximum degree △. Let χ(G^2) and A(G) denote the chromatic number of the square and the L(2, 1)-labelling number of G, respectively. In this paper we prove the following results: (1) χ(G^2) = 7 if △= 6; (2) λ(G) ≤ △ +5 if △ ≥ 4, and ),(G)≤ 7 if △ = 3; and (3) there is an outerplanar graph G with △ = 4 such that )λ(G) = 7. These improve some known results on the distance two labelling of outerplanar graphs.  相似文献

We show that the set of C metrics in the two dimensional torus with no continuous invariant graphs of the geodesic flow is open and dense in the C 1 topology. The generic nonexistence of invariant graphs with rational rotation numbers was known in the C topology for metrics, and in general the generic nonexistence in the C topology of invariant graphs with Liouville rotation numbers is known for twist maps and Hamiltonian flows in the torus. The main idea of the proof is that small C 1 bumps are enough to prevent the existence of invariant graphs.Partially supported by CNPq, FAPERJ, TWAS  相似文献

A b-coloring of a graph is a coloring such that every color class admits a vertex adjacent to at least one vertex receiving each of the colors not assigned to it. The b-chromatic number of a graph G, denoted by χ b (G), is the maximum number t such that G admits a b-coloring with t colors. A graph G is b-continuous if it admits a b-coloring with t colors, for every . We define a graph G to be b-monotonic if χ b (H 1) ≥ χ b (H 2) for every induced subgraph H 1 of G, and every induced subgraph H 2 of H 1. In this work, we prove that P 4-sparse graphs (and, in particular, cographs) are b-continuous and b-monotonic. Besides, we describe a dynamic programming algorithm to compute the b-chromatic number in polynomial time within these graph classes. LetG be a finite group, andS a subset ofG \ |1| withS =S −1. We useX = Cay(G,S) to denote the Cayley graph ofG with respect toS. We callS a Cl-subset ofG, if for any isomorphism Cay(G,S) ≈ Cay(G,T) there is an α∈ Aut(G) such thatS α =T. Assume that m is a positive integer.G is called anm-Cl-group if every subsetS ofG withS =S −1 and | S | ≤m is Cl. In this paper we prove that the alternating groupA 5 is a 4-Cl-group, which was a conjecture posed by Li and Praeger.  相似文献
