We study fine properties of Lévy trees that are random compact metric spaces introduced by Le Gall and Le Jan in 1998 as the genealogy of continuous state branching processes. Lévy trees are the scaling limits of Galton-Watson trees and they generalize the Aldous continuum random tree which corresponds to the Brownian case. In this paper, we prove that Lévy trees always have an exact packing measure: we explicitly compute the packing gauge function and we prove that the corresponding packing measure coincides with the mass measure up to a multiplicative constant.  相似文献

Summary We discuss Sobolev spaces of Banach-valued functions. They are extensions of Sobolev spaces of scalar functions. We use a gamma transform of a semigroup associated with a Markov process. A typical example is the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process on the Wiener space.  相似文献

In this paper, we establish the dimension-free Harnack inequality on configuration spaces by using the coupling argument. Furthermore, a unified treatment is also used to prove the equivalence between the Harnack inequality on configuration space and that on the corresponding base space under a very mild condition.  相似文献

The paper concerns a resonance problem for a class of singular quasilinear elliptic equations in weighted Sobolev spaces. The equation set studied is one of the most useful sets of Navier-Stokes equations; these describe the motion of viscous fluid substances such as liquids, gases and so on. By using Galerkin-type techniques, the Brouwer fixed point theorem, and a new weighted compact Sobolev-type embedding theorem established by Shapiro, we show the existence of a nontrivial solution.  相似文献

We consider special subclasses of the class of Lindelöf Σ-spaces obtained by imposing restrictions on the weight of the elements of compact covers that admit countable networks: A space X is in the class LΣ(?κ) if it admits a cover by compact subspaces of weight κ and a countable network for the cover. We restrict our attention to κ?ω. In the case κ=ω, the class includes the class of metrizably fibered spaces considered by Tkachuk, and the P-approximable spaces considered by Tka?enko. The case κ=1 corresponds to the spaces of countable network weight, but even the case κ=2 gives rise to a nontrivial class of spaces. The relation of known classes of compact spaces to these classes is considered. It is shown that not every Corson compact of weight 1 is in the class LΣ(?ω), answering a question of Tkachuk. As well, we study whether certain compact spaces in LΣ(?ω) have dense metrizable subspaces, partially answering a question of Tka?enko. Other interesting results and examples are obtained, and we conclude the paper with a number of open questions.  相似文献

Summary A general comparison argument for expectations of certain multitime functionals of infinite systems of linearly interacting diffusions differing in the diffusion coefficient is derived. As an application we prove clustering occurs in the case when the symmetrized interaction kernel is recurrent, and the components take values in an interval bounded on one side. The technique also gives an alternative proof of clustering in the case of compact intervals.  相似文献

Using the heat kernel estimates by Davies (1989) and Anker et al. (1996), we show large deviations for the radial processes of the Brownian motions on hyperbolic spaces.  相似文献

By using lower bound conditions of the Lévy measure w.r.t. a nice reference measure, the coupling and strong Feller properties are investigated for the Markov semigroup associated with a class of linear SDEs driven by (non-cylindrical) Lévy processes on a Banach space. Unlike in the finite-dimensional case where these properties have also been confirmed for Lévy processes without drift, in the infinite-dimensional setting the appearance of a drift term is essential to ensure the quasi-invariance of the process by shifting the initial data. Gradient estimates and exponential convergence are also investigated. The main results are illustrated by specific models on the Wiener space and separable Hilbert spaces.  相似文献

We introduce a new cardinal invariant, core of a space, defined for any locally compact Hausdorff space X and denoted by cor(X). Locally compact spaces of countable core generalize locally compact σ-compact spaces in a way that is slightly exotic, but still quite natural. We show in Section 1 that under a broad range of conditions locally compact spaces of countable core must be σ-compact. In particular, normal locally compact spaces of countable core and realcompact locally compact spaces of countable core are σ-compact. Perfect mappings preserve the class of spaces of countable core in both directions (Section 2). The Alexandroff compactification aX is weakly first countable at the Alexandroff point a if and only if cor(X)=ω (Section 3). Two examples of non-σ-compact locally compact spaces of countable core are discussed in Section 3. We also extend the well-known theorem of Alexandroff and Urysohn on the cardinality of perfectly normal compacta to compacta satisfying a weak version of perfect normality. Several open problems are formulated.  相似文献

We propose a type-dependent branching model with mutation and competition for modelling phylogenies of a virus population. The competition kernel depends on the total mass, the types of the virus particles, and the genetic information available through the number of nucleotide substitutions separating the virus particles. We consider evolving phylogenies in the huge population, short reproduction time and frequent mutation regime, show tightness in the space of marked metric measure spaces and characterize the limit through a martingale problem. Due to heterogeneity in the branching rates, the phylogenies are not ultra-metric. We therefore develop new techniques for verifying compact containment.  相似文献

We establish Lamperti representations for semi-stable Markov processes in locally compact groups. We also study the particular cases of processes with values in RR and CC under the hypothesis that they do not visit 0. These Lamperti representations yield some properties of these semi-stable Markov processes.  相似文献

We consider the Complex Stone-Weierstrass Property (CSWP), which is the complex version of the Stone-Weierstrass Theorem. If X is a compact subspace of a product of three linearly ordered spaces, then X has the CSWP if and only if X has no subspace homeomorphic to the Cantor set. In addition, every finite power of the double arrow space has the CSWP. These results are proved using some results about those compact Hausdorff spaces which have scattered-to-one maps onto compact metric spaces.  相似文献

We study regularity properties of quasiminimizers of the p-Dirichlet integral on metric measure spaces. We adapt the Moser iteration technique to this setting and show that it can be applied without an underlying differential equation. However, we have been able to run the Moser iteration fully only for minimizers. We prove Caccioppoli inequalities and local boundedness properties for quasisub- and quasisuperminimizers. This is done in metric spaces equipped with a doubling measure and supporting a weak (1, p)-Poincaré inequality. The metric space is not required to be complete. We also provide an example which shows that the dilation constant from the weak Poincaré inequality is essential in the condition on the balls in the Harnack inequality. This fact seems to have been overlooked in the earlier literature on nonlinear potential theory on metric spaces.  相似文献

We first study the growth properties of p-adic Lie groups and its connection with p-adic Lie groups of type R and prove that a non-type R p-adic Lie group has compact neighbourhoods of identity having exponential growth. This is applied to prove the growth dichotomy for a large class of p-adic Lie groups which includes p-adic algebraic groups. We next study p-adic Lie groups that admit recurrent random walks and prove the natural growth conjecture connecting growth and the existence of recurrent random walks, precisely we show that a p-adic Lie group admits a recurrent random walk if and only if it has polynomial growth of degree at most two. We prove this conjecture for some other classes of groups also. We also prove the Choquet-Deny Theorem for compactly generated p-adic Lie groups of polynomial growth and also show that polynomial growth is necessary and sufficient for the validity of the Choquet-Deny for all spread-out probabilities on Zariski-connected p-adic algebraic groups. Counter example is also given to show that certain assumptions made in the main results can not be relaxed.  相似文献

Stochastic equations indexed by negative integers and taking values in compact groups are studied. Extremal solutions of the equations are characterized in terms of infinite products of independent random variables. This result is applied to characterize several properties of the set of all solutions in terms of the law of the driving noise.  相似文献

Gustafson and Styan (Gustafson and Styan, Superstochastic matrices and Magic Markov chains, Linear Algebra Appl. 430 (2009) 2705-2715) examined the mathematical properties of superstochastic matrices, the transition matrices of “magic” Markov chains formed from scaled “magic squares”. This paper explores the main stochastic properties of such chains as well as “semi-magic” chains (with doubly-stochastic transition matrices). Stationary distribution, generalized inverses of Markovian kernels, mean first passage times, variances of the first passage times and expected times to mixing are considered. Some general results are developed, some observations from the chains generated by MATLAB are discussed, some conjectures are presented and some special cases, involving three and four states, are explored in detail.  相似文献

We establish general theorems quantifying the notion of recurrence–through an estimation of the moments of passage times–for irreducible continuous-time Markov chains on countably infinite state spaces. Sharp conditions of occurrence of the phenomenon of explosion are also obtained. A new phenomenon of implosion is introduced and sharp conditions for its occurrence are proven. The general results are illustrated by treating models having a difficult behaviour even in discrete time.  相似文献

General characterizations of ergodic Markov chains have been developed in considerable detail. In this paper, we study the transience for discrete-time Markov chains on general state spaces, including the geometric transience and algebraic transience. Criteria are presented through bounding the modified moment of the first return time and establishing the appropriate drift condition. Moreover, we apply the criteria to the random walk on the half line and the skip-free chain on nonnegative integers.  相似文献
