The problem of the numerical evaluation of Cauchy principal value integrals of oscillatory functions , where −1<τ<1, has been discussed. Based on analytic continuation, if f is analytic in a sufficiently large complex region G containing [−1, 1], the integrals can be transformed into the problems of integrating two integrals on [0,+) with the integrand that does not oscillate, and that decays exponentially fast, which can be efficiently computed by using the Gauss-Laguerre quadrature rule. The validity of the method has been demonstrated in the provision of two numerical experiments and their results.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to the approximation of differentiable semialgebraic functions by Nash functions. Approximation by Nash functions is known for semialgebraic functions defined on an affine Nash manifold M, and here we extend it to functions defined on Nash sets  X⊂MXMwhose singularities are monomial. To that end we discuss first finiteness and weak normality for such sets X. Namely, we prove that (i) X is the union of finitely many open subsets, each Nash diffeomorphic to a finite union of coordinate linear varieties of an affine space, and (ii) every function on X which is Nash on every irreducible component of X extends to a Nash function on M. Then we can obtain approximation for semialgebraic functions and even for certain semialgebraic maps on Nash sets with monomial singularities. As a nice consequence we show that m-dimensional affine Nash manifolds with divisorial corners which are class k   semialgebraically diffeomorphic, for k>m2k>m2, are also Nash diffeomorphic.  相似文献

We describe an efficient method for the computer evaluation of the ordinary irreducible polynomial representations of general linear groups using an integral form of the ordinary irreducible representations of symmetric groups. In order to do this, we first give an algebraic explanation of D. E. Littlewood's modification of I. Schur's construction. Then we derive a formula for the entries of the representing matrices which is much more concise and adapted to the effective use of computer calculations. Finally, we describe how one obtains — using this time an orthogonal form of the ordinary irreducible representations of symmetric groups — a version which yields a unitary representation when it is restricted to the unitary subgroup. In this way we adapt D. B. Hunter's results which heavily rely on Littlewood's methods, and boson polynomials come into the play so that we also meet the needs of applications to physics.  相似文献

The generalized Cox construction associates with an algebraic variety a remarkable invariant—its total coordinate ring, or Cox ring. In this note, we give a new proof of the factoriality of the Cox ring when the divisor class group of the variety is finitely generated and free. The proof is based on the notion of graded factoriality. We show that if the divisor class group has torsion, then the Cox ring is again factorially graded, but factoriality may be lost.  相似文献

We construct quasi-Fuchsian groups acting on two-dimensional complex hyperbolic space with limit set a wild knot. Also, we study the Teichmüller space T(G) of faithful, discrete, type-preserving representations of a Fuchsian group G of the first kind with parabolic elements in complex hyperbolic space. We show that T(G) is not connected, and that the Toledo invariant does not distinguish different connected components of T(G).  相似文献

Summary We investigate a class of statistical problems, where usual bootstrap methods fail, and discuss two alternative solutions. In particular, a stochastic procedure for constructing confidence sets is proposed. New sufficient conditions and necessary conditions are developed for two skew diagrams to give rise to the same skew Schur function. The sufficient conditions come from a variety of new operations related to ribbons (also known as border strips or rim hooks). Let C be a small category and R a commutative ring with identity. The cohomology ring of C with coefficients in R is defined as the cohomology ring of the topological realization of its nerve. First we give an example showing that this ring modulo nilpotents is not finitely generated in general, even when the category is finite EI. Then we study the relationship between the cohomology ring of a category and those of its subcategories and extensions. The main results generalize certain theorems in group cohomology theory.  相似文献

We give a sharp estimate for the codimension of the poly‐Bergman space in the poly‐Bergman space over the punctured domain. It is established the behaviour at the infinity point of polyanalytic Bergman functions on the complement of closed disks. In the main result of the paper, we prove that for and the j‐polyanalytic Bergman space over the domain U is trivial precisely when the complement of U has at most one point and at most two points or three points lying in a circle, respectively. We point out the differences between the domains over which the Bergman space and the non‐analytic poly‐Bergman space are trivial.  相似文献
