Conditions are given under which the empirical copula process associated with a random sample from a bivariate continuous distribution has a smaller asymptotic covariance function than the standard empirical process based on observations from the copula. Illustrations are provided and consequences for inference are outlined.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the empirical likelihood for constructing a confidence region of the parameter of interest in a multi-link semiparametric model when an infinite-dimensional nuisance parameter exists. The new model covers the commonly used varying coefficient, generalized linear, single-index, multi-index, hazard regression models and their generalizations, as its special cases. Because of the existence of the infinite-dimensional nuisance parameter, the classical empirical likelihood with plug-in estimation cannot be asymptotically distribution-free, and the existing bias correction is not extendable to handle such a general model. We then propose a link-based correction approach to solve this problem. This approach gives a general rule of bias correction via an inner link, and consists of two parts. For the model whose estimating equation contains the score functions that are easy to estimate, we use a centering for the scores to correct the bias; for the model of which the score functions are of complex structure, a bias-correction procedure using simpler functions instead of the scores is given without loss of asymptotic efficiency. The resulting empirical likelihood shares the desired features: it has a chi-square limit and, under-smoothing technique, high order kernel and parameter estimation are not needed. Simulation studies are carried out to examine the performance of the new method.  相似文献

An autoregressive-moving average model in which all roots of the autoregressive polynomial are reciprocals of roots of the moving average polynomial and vice versa is called an all-pass time series model. All-pass models generate uncorrelated (white noise) time series, but these series are not independent in the non-Gaussian case. An approximate likelihood for a causal all-pass model is given and used to establish asymptotic normality for maximum likelihood estimators under general conditions. Behavior of the estimators for finite samples is studied via simulation. A two-step procedure using all-pass models to identify and estimate noninvertible autoregressive-moving average models is developed and used in the deconvolution of a simulated water gun seismogram.  相似文献

Autoregressive time series models of order p have p+2 parameters, the mean, the variance of the white noise and the p autoregressive parameters. Change in any of these over time is a sign of disturbance that is important to detect. The methods of this paper can test for change in any one of these p+2 parameters separately, or in any collection of them. They are available in forms that make one-sided tests possible, furthermore, they can be used to test for a temporary change. The test statistics are based on the efficient score vector. The large sample properties of the change-point estimator are also explored.  相似文献

The innovations algorithm can be used to obtain parameter estimates for periodically stationary time series models. In this paper we compute the asymptotic distribution for these estimates in the case where the underlying noise sequence has infinite fourth moment but finite second moment. In this case, the sample covariances on which the innovations algorithm are based are known to be asymptotically stable. The asymptotic results developed here are useful to determine which model parameters are significant. In the process, we also compute the asymptotic distributions of least squares estimates of parameters in an autoregressive model.  相似文献

This paper considers the short- and long-memory linear processes with GARCH (1,1) noises. The functional limit distributions of the partial sum and the sample autocovariances are derived when the tail index αα is in (0,2)(0,2), equal to 2, and in (2,∞)(2,), respectively. The partial sum weakly converges to a functional of αα-stable process when α<2α<2 and converges to a functional of Brownian motion when α≥2α2. When the process is of short-memory and α<4α<4, the autocovariances converge to functionals of α/2α/2-stable processes; and if α≥4α4, they converge to functionals of Brownian motions. In contrast, when the process is of long-memory, depending on αα and ββ (the parameter that characterizes the long-memory), the autocovariances converge to either (i) functionals of α/2α/2-stable processes; (ii) Rosenblatt processes (indexed by ββ, 1/2<β<3/41/2<β<3/4); or (iii) functionals of Brownian motions. The rates of convergence in these limits depend on both the tail index αα and whether or not the linear process is short- or long-memory. Our weak convergence is established on the space of càdlàg functions on [0,1][0,1] with either (i) the J1J1 or the M1M1 topology (Skorokhod, 1956); or (ii) the weaker form SS topology (Jakubowski, 1997). Some statistical applications are also discussed.  相似文献

Time series of counts have a wide variety of applications in real life. Analyzing time series of counts requires accommodations for serial dependence, discreteness, and overdispersion of data. In this paper, we extend blockwise empirical likelihood (Kitamura, 1997 [15]) to the analysis of time series of counts under a regression setting. In particular, our contribution is the extension of Kitamura’s (1997) [15] method to the analysis of nonstationary time series. Serial dependence among observations is treated nonparametrically using a blocking technique; and overdispersion in count data is accommodated by the specification of a variance-mean relationship. We establish consistency and asymptotic normality of the maximum blockwise empirical likelihood estimator. Simulation studies show that our method has a good finite sample performance. The method is also illustrated by analyzing two real data sets: monthly counts of poliomyelitis cases in the USA and daily counts of non-accidental deaths in Toronto, Canada.  相似文献

A new empirical likelihood approach is developed to analyze data from two-stage sampling designs, in which a primary sample of rough or proxy measures for the variables of interest and a validation subsample of exact information are available. The validation sample is assumed to be a simple random subsample from the primary one. The proposed empirical likelihood approach is capable of utilizing all the information from both the specific models and the two available samples flexibly. It maintains some nice features of the empirical likelihood method and improves the asymptotic efficiency of the existing inferential procedures. The asymptotic properties are derived for the new approach. Some numerical studies are carried out to assess the finite sample performance.  相似文献

The normal distribution based likelihood ratio (LR) statistic is widely used in structural equation modeling. Under a sequence of local alternative hypotheses, this statistic has been shown to asymptotically follow a noncentral chi-square distribution. In practice, the population mean vector and covariance matrix as well as the model and sample size are always fixed. It is hard to justify the validity of the noncentral chi-square distribution for the resulting LR statistic even when data are normally distributed and sample size is large. By extending results in the literature, this paper develops normal distributions to describe the behavior of the LR statistic for mean and covariance structure analysis. A sequence of local alternative hypotheses is not necessary for the proposed distributions to be asymptotically valid. When the effect size is medium and above or when the model is not trivially misspecified, empirical results indicate that a refined normal distribution describes the behavior of the LR statistic better than the commonly used noncentral chi-square distribution, as measured by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov distance. Quantile-quantile plots are also provided to better understand the different distributions.  相似文献

Orban and Wolfe (1982) and Kim (1999) provided the limiting distribution for linear placement statistics under null hypotheses only when one of the sample sizes goes to infinity. In this paper we prove the asymptotic normality and the weak convergence of the linear placement statistics of Orban and Wolfe (1982) and Kim (1999) when the sample sizes of each group go to infinity simultaneously.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss the construction of the confidence intervals for the regression vector β in a linear model under negatively associated errors. It is shown that the blockwise empirical likelihood (EL) ratio statistic for β is asymptotically χ2-type distributed. The result is used to obtain an EL based confidence region for β.  相似文献

We construct a quasi likelihood analysis for diffusions under the high-frequency sampling over a finite time interval. For this, we prove a polynomial type large deviation inequality for the quasi likelihood random field. Then it becomes crucial to prove nondegeneracy of a key index χ0χ0. By nature of the sampling setting, χ0χ0 is random. This makes it difficult to apply a naïve sufficient condition, and requires a new machinery. In order to establish a quasi likelihood analysis, we need quantitative estimate of the nondegeneracy of χ0χ0. The existence of a nondegenerate local section of a certain tensor bundle associated with the statistical random field solves this problem.  相似文献

This paper considers the discrete-time risk model with insurance risk and financial risk in some dependence structures. Under assumptions that the insurance risks are heavy tailed (belong to the intersection of the long-tailed class and the dominatedly varying-tailed class) and the financial risks satisfy some moment conditions, the asymptotic and uniformly asymptotic relations for the finite-time and ultimate ruin probabilities are derived.  相似文献

Theorems of approximation of Gaussian processes for the sequential empirical process of the permutations of independent random variables are established. The results are applied to simulate critical values for the functionals of sequential empirical processes used in change point analysis. The proofs are based on the properties of rank statistics and negatively associated random variables.  相似文献

Berk and Jones (Z. Wahrsch. Verw. Gebiete 47 (1979) 47) described a nonparametric likelihood test of uniformity that is more efficient, in Bahadur's sense, than any weighted Kolmogorov-Smirnov test at any alternative. This article shows how to obtain a nonparametric likelihood test of a general parametric family for incomplete survival data. A nonparametric likelihood ratio test process is employed to measure the discrepancy between a parametric family and the observed data. Large sample properties of the likelihood ratio test process are studied under both the null and alternative hypotheses. A Monte Carlo simulation method is proposed to estimate its null distribution. We show how to produce a likelihood ratio graphical check as well as a formal test of a parametric family based on the developed theory. Our method is developed for the right-censorship model, but can be easily extended to some other survival models. Illustrations are given using both real and simulated data.  相似文献

For a class of multivariate skew normal distributions, the noncentral skew chi-square distribution is studied. The necessary and sufficient conditions under which a sequence of quadratic forms is generalized noncentral skew chi-square distributed random variables are obtained. Several examples are given to illustrate the results.  相似文献
