The renormalization of the relativistic self-consistent Hartree-Fock approximation is restudied. It is shown that the renormalization procedure suggested by Bielajew and Serot can be greatly simplified and the renormalization achieved in a way no more complicated than that of the relativistic self-consistent Fock approximation, if the parameters in the counterterms are allowed to be density-dependent and the renormalization of the tadpole self-energy is treated appropriately. A transformation relation between the four- and three-dimensional representation of the baryon self-energy is presented and a self-consistent Hartree-Fock scheme different from that considered by Bielajew and Serot studied. The renormalized integral equations for the baryon self-energy which includes effects from the Dirac sea are reformulated in a three-dimensional form. Explicit expressions are derived. An approach is proposed to calculate Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs) in a Constituent Quark Model (CQM) scenario. These off-diagonal distributions are obtained from momentum space wave functions to be evaluated in a given non-relativistic or relativized CQM. The general relations linking the twist-two GPDs to the form factors and to the leading-twist quark densities are consistently recovered from our expressions. Results for the leading twist, unpolarized GPD, H, in a simple harmonic-oscillator model, as well as in the Isgur and Karl model, are shown to have the general behavior found in previous estimates. NLO evolution of the obtained distributions, from the low-momentum scale of the model up to the experimental one, is also shown. Further applications of the proposed formalism are addressed. Based on the newly constructed Einstein, Podolsky and Rosen (EPR) entangled state representation we introduce macroscopic classical functions associated with atomic coherent state τ with angular momentum value j. These functions are proportional to the ordinary one-variable Hermite polynomials of order 2j. The corresponding Wigner quasiprobability function for τ in phase space is also derived which turns out to be a two-variable Hermite polynomial H 2j, 2j. In so doing, a new classical-quantum correspondence scheme for angular momentum system is established. The observed polarisation of Λ hyperons from the inclusive pA → ΛX reaction at high energies has previously been well described within the Lund string model through polarised sˉs quark pair production in the string breaking hadronisation process. This model is here applied to the exclusive ˉpp → ˉΛΛ reaction at low energies and compared to available data sets down to an incident-beam momentum of 1.835 GeV/c. This required an extension of the diquark scattering model to involve three components: an isotropic part relevant close to the threshold, a spectator part and a forward-scattering part as in pA → ΛX at high energies. The observed angular distributions are then reproduced and, for momentum transfers above | t'| = 0.2 GeV2, agreement with the measured polarisation is also obtained. The equation of motion of twists on classical antiferromagnetic Heisenberg spin chains are derived. It is shown that twists interact via position- and velocity-dependent long-range two-body forces. A quiescent regime is identified wherein the system conserves momentum. With increasing kinetic energy the system exits this regime and momentum conservation is violated due to walls annihilation. A bitwist system is shown to be integrable and its exact solution is analysed. Many-twist systems are discussed and novel periodic twist lattice solutions are found on closed chains. The stability of these solutions is discussed. Received 12 June 2002 Published online 2 October 2002 RID="a" ID="a"e-mail: rbbll@phy.cam.ac.uk  相似文献

Two recent developments of the nuclear shell model are presented. One is a breakthrough in computational feasibility owing to the Monte Carlo Shell Model (MCSM). By the MCSM, the structure of low-lying states can be studied with realistic interactions for a wide, nearly unlimited basically, variety of nuclei. The magic numbers are the key concept of the shell model, and are shown to be different in exotic nuclei from those of stable nuclei. Its novel origin and robustness will be discussed. A model of spherically symmetric SU(2) gauge theory is considered. The self-duality equations are written and it is shown that they are compatible with the Einstein-Yang-Mills equations. It is proven that the SU(2) gauge model is self-dual on a Schwarzschild space-time but not on a Reissner-Nordstr?m one. The theoretical approach to the two-proton radioactivity and three-body decays developed in (L.V. Grigorenko, R.C. Johnson, I.G. Mukha, I.J. Thompson, M.V. Zhukov, Phys. Rev. Lett. 85, 22 (2000) and to be published in Phys. Rev. C) is applied to the range of light nuclear systems. We study nuclear structures, widths, and momentum correlations for the decay fragments. Strong contradictions with experiment, as well as effects of special interest, are found in 12O and 16Ne nuclei. The dynamics of a non-planar vortex in a two-dimensional easy-plane ferromagnet of finite size is studied. Spin dynamics simulations show small cycloidal oscillations of the vortex around its mean path. In contrast to an earlier phenomenological theory we give a physical explanation: The oscillations occur due to the interaction of the vortex with coherent spin waves which are excited by this vortex at the moment when it starts to move, in order to conserve the total energy and angular momentum. The calculation of these quantities yields the frequencies and amplitudes of the cycloidal oscillations in good agreement with the simulation data. A three-dimensional model has been developed for simulating the behaviour of inductively coupled plasma torches (ICPTs), using customized CFD commercial code FLUENT ?. The helicoidal coil is taken into account in its actual 3-D shape, showing the effects of its non-axisymmetry on the plasma discharge. Steady state, continuity, momentum and energy equations are solved for argon optically thin plasmas under the assumptions of LTE and laminar flow. The electromagnetic field is obtained by solving the 3-D vector potential equation on a grid extending outside the torch region. In order to evaluate the importance of various 3-D effects on calculated plasma temperature and flow fields, comparisons of our new results with the ones obtainable from conventional 2-D models and from an improved 2-D model that includes 3-D coil effects are presented. The presence of wall temperature hot spots due to plasma discharge displacement from the torch axis is evidenced, while the use of the new 3-D code for optimization of induction coil geometry and plasma gas inlet features is foreseen. The temporal dynamics of a storage-ring Free Electron Laser is here investigated with particular attention to the case in which an external modulation is applied to the laser-electron beam detuning. The system is shown to produce bifurcations as well as chaotic regimes. The peculiarities of this phenomenon with respect to the analogous behaviour displayed by conventional laser sources are pointed out. Theoretical results, obtained by means of a phenomenological model reproducing the evolution of the main statistical parameters of the system, are shown to be in a good agreement with experiments carried out on the Super-ACO Free Electron Laser. Coulomb form factors of C4 transitions in even-even N = Z sd-shell nuclei ( 20Ne, 24Mg, 28Si and 32S) are discussed taking into account higher-energy configurations outside the sd-shell model space which are called core polarization effects. Higher configurations are taken into account through a microscopic theory, which allows particle-hole excitations from the 1s and 1p shells core orbits and also from the 2s1d-shell orbits to the higher allowed orbits with excitations up to 4 ω. The effect of core polarization is found essential in both the transition strengths and momentum transfer dependence of form factors, and gives a remarkably good agreement with the measured data with no adjustable parameters. The calculations are based on the Wildenthal interaction for the sd-shell model space and on the modified surface delta interaction (MSDI) for the core polarization effects. The nearest-neighbor mass-spacing distribution of the meson and baryon spectrum (up to 2.5 GeV) is described by the Wigner surmise corresponding to the statistics of the Gaussian orthogonal ensemble of random matrix theory. This can be viewed as a manifestation of quantum chaos in hadrons. A renormalization scheme for interacting fermionic systems is presented where the renormalization is carried out in terms of the fermionic degrees of freedom. The scheme is based on continuous unitary transformations of the Hamiltonian which stays hermitian throughout the renormalization flow, whereby any frequency dependence is avoided. The approach is illustrated in detail for a model of spinless fermions with nearest neighbour repulsion in one dimension. Even though the fermionic degrees of freedom do not provide an easy starting point in one dimension favorable results are obtained which agree well with the exact findings based on Bethe ansatz. We study the effect of electrostatic interactions on the distribution function of the end-to-end distance of a single polyelectrolyte chain in the rod-like limit. The extent to which the radial distribution function of a polyelectrolyte is reproduced by that of a wormlike chain with an adjusted effective persistence length is investigated. Strong evidence is found for a universal scaling formula connecting the effective persistence length of a polyelectrolyte with the strength of the electrostatic interaction and the Debye screening length. Electronic structure of three-dimensional quantum dots   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We study the electronic structure of three-dimensional quantum dots using the Hartree-Fock approximation. The confining potential of the electrons in the quantum dot is assumed to be spatially isotropic and harmonic. For up to 40 interacting electrons the ground-state energies and ground-state wavefunctions are calculated at various interaction strengths. The quadrupole moments and electron densities in the quantum dot are computed. Hund's rule is confirmed and a shell structure is identified via the addition energies and the quadrupole moments. While most of the shell structure can be understood on the basis of the unperturbed non-interacting problem, the interplay of an avoided crossing and the Coulomb interaction results in an unexpected closed shell for 19 electrons. The multiscattering problem is studied in the matrix density formalism. We study how to isolate the quasi-classical degrees of freedom in order to connect them with a cascade approach. The different problems that arise, as well as their possible solutions, are discussed and exemplified with a pion-nucleus model. The even-even nucleus 126Ce was studied via in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy using the 40Ca + 92Mo reaction at 190 MeV. Five bands were observed, one of them being identified for the first time. New connecting transitions were identified between the bands, which lead to new spin assignments. The bands are discussed in the framework of the IBM + broken pairs model. The even-even nucleus 136Nd was studied via in-beam γ-ray spectroscopy using the 16O + 125Te reaction at 100 MeV and the EUROBALL array. One new dipole band was observed. Together with a previously identified dipole band, whose position in the level scheme is revised, the new band forms a doublet structure similar to the recently observed chiral bands in the odd-odd neighboring nuclei. This would be the first case of a chiral doublet in an even-even nucleus. The influence of final-state NN and πN rescattering in incoherent pion photoproduction on the deuteron has been investigated. For the elementary photoproduction operator an effective Lagrangian model is used which describes well the elementary reaction. The interactions in the final two-body subsystems are taken in separable form. While NN rescattering shows quite a significant effect, particularly strong for neutral pion production, πN rescattering is almost negligible. Inclusion of such effects leads to an improved and quite satisfactory agreement with experiment.
