By using negativity as entanglement measure, we have investigated the effect of local decoherence from a non-Markovian environmenton the time evolution of entanglement of three-qubit states including the GHZ state, the W state, and the Werner state. From the results, we find that the entanglement dynamics depends not only on the coupling strengths but also on the specific states of concern. Specifically, the entanglement takes different behaviors under weak or strong coupling and it varies with the quantum states under study. The entanglement of the GHZ state and the Werner state can be destroyed completely by the local decoherence, while the entanglement of the W state can survive through the local decoherence partially.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a multipartite entanglement measure for arbitrary pure states, which is presented based on reduced density matrices of multi-qudit pure states. We review some multipartite entanglement measures based on density matrices. This is helpful for us to introduce a new good entanglement measure, which is vanishing if and only if a state is separable, invariant under local unitary transformations and non-increasing under local operations assisted by classical communication. We apply our entanglement measure for some explicit examples. It demonstrates that our entanglement measure is practical and convenient for computation. It can also distinguish the relatively high entanglement and the maximal entanglement. In short, our entanglement measure is good at characterizing multipartite entanglement.  相似文献

We investigate the possibility of transforming, under local operations and classical communication, a general bipartite quantum state on a dA x dB tensor-product space into a final state in 2 x 2 dimensions, while maintaining as much entanglement as possible. For pure states, we prove that Nielsens theorem provides the optimal protocol, and we present quantitative results on the degree of entanglement before and after the dimensional reduction. For mixed states, we identify a protocol that we argue is optimal for isotropic and Werner states. In the literature, it has been conjectured that some Werner states are bound entangled and in support of this conjecture our protocol gives final states without entanglement for this class of states. For all other entangled Werner states and for all entangled isotropic states some degree of free entanglement is maintained. In this sense, our protocol may be used to discriminate between bound and free entanglement.Received: 21 January 2004, Published online: 2 March 2004PACS: 03.67.Mn Entanglement production, characterization, and manipulation - 42.50.Dv Nonclassical states of the electromagnetic field, including entangled photon states; quantum state engineering and measurements - 03.65.Ud Entanglement and quantum nonlocality (e.g. EPR paradox, Bells inequalities, GHZ states, etc.)  相似文献

We characterize the entanglement contained in a pure three-qubit state via operational entanglement measures. To this end, we derive a new decomposition for arbitrary three-qubit states which is characterized by five parameters (up to local unitary operations). We show that these parameters are uniquely determined by bipartite entanglement measures. These quantities measure the entanglement required to generate the state following a particular preparation procedure and have a clear physical meaning. Moreover, we show that the classification of states obtained in this way is strongly related to the one obtained when considering general local operations and classical communication.  相似文献

We consider the manipulation of multipartite entangled states in the limit of many copies under quantum operations that asymptotically cannot generate entanglement. In stark contrast to the manipulation of entanglement under local operations and classical communication, the entanglement shared by two or more parties can be reversibly interconverted in this setting. The unique entanglement measure is identified as the regularized relative entropy of entanglement, which is shown to be equal to a regularized and smoothed version of the logarithmic robustness of entanglement. Here we give a rigorous proof of this result, which is fundamentally based on a certain recent extension of quantum Stein’s Lemma, giving the best measurement strategy for discriminating several copies of an entangled state from an arbitrary sequence of non-entangled states, with an optimal distinguishability rate equal to the regularized relative entropy of entanglement. We moreover analyse the connection of our approach to axiomatic formulations of the second law of thermodynamics.  相似文献

A relevant problem regarding entanglement measures is the following: Given an arbitrary mixed state, how does a measure for multipartite entanglement change if general local operations are applied to the state? This question is nontrivial as the normalization of the states has to be taken into account. Here we answer it for pure-state entanglement measures which are invariant under determinant-one local operations and homogeneous in the state coefficients, and their convex-roof extension which quantifies mixed-state entanglement. Our analysis allows us to enlarge the set of mixed states for which these important measures can be calculated exactly. In particular, our results hint at a distinguished role of entanglement measures which have homogeneous degree 2 in the state coefficients.  相似文献

We investigate which entanglement resources allow universal measurement-based quantum computation via single-qubit operations. We find that any entanglement feature exhibited by the 2D cluster state must also be present in any other universal resource. We obtain a powerful criterion to assess the universality of graph states by introducing an entanglement measure which necessarily grows unboundedly with the system size for all universal resource states. Furthermore, we prove that graph states associated with 2D lattices such as the hexagonal and triangular lattice are universal, and obtain the first example of a universal nongraph state.  相似文献

Assuming the validity of a conjecture given by DiVincenzo et al. [Phys. Rev. A 61, 062312 (2000)] and by Dür et al. [Phys. Rev. A 61, 062313 (2000)], we show that the distillable entanglement for two bipartite states, each of which individually has zero distillable entanglement, can be nonzero. We show that this also implies that the distillable entanglement is not a convex function. Our example consists of the tensor product of a bound entangled state based on an unextendible product basis with an entangled Werner state which lies in the class of conjectured undistillable states.  相似文献

We investigate the concurrence and Bell violation of the standard Werner state or Werner-like states in the presence of collective dephasing. It is shown that the standard Werner state and certain kinds of Werner-like states are robust against the collective dephasing, and some kinds of Werner-like states is fragile and becomes completely disentangled in a finite-time. The threshold time of complete disentanglement of the fragile Werner-like states is given. The influence of external driving field on the finite-time disentanglement of the standard Werner state or Werner-like states is discussed. Furthermore, we present a simple method to control the stationary state entanglement and Bell violation of two qubits. Finally, we show that the theoretical calculations of fidelity based on the initial Werner state assumption well agree with previous experimental results.  相似文献

In this work, we experimentally created and characterized a class of qubit-ququart PPT (positive under partial transpose) entangled states using three nuclear spins on an nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) quantum information processor. Entanglement detection and characterization for systems with a Hilbert space dimension 2?3 is nontrivial since there are states in such systems which are both PPT as well as entangled. The experimental detection scheme that we devised for the detection of qubit-ququart PPT entanglement was based on the measurement of three Pauli operators with high precision, and is a key ingredient of the protocol in detecting entanglement. The family of PPT-entangled states considered in the current study are incoherent mixtures of five pure states. All the five states were prepared with high fidelities and the resulting PPT entangled states were prepared with mean fidelity ≥ 0.95. The entanglement thus detected was validated by carrying out full quantum state tomography (QST).  相似文献

We report on the first experimental realization of an entanglement witness, a method to detect entanglement with few local measurements. The present demonstration has been performed with polarized photons in Werner states, a well-known family of mixed states that can be either separable or nonseparable. The Werner states are generated by a novel high brilliance source of bipartite entangled states by which the state mixedness can be easily adjusted.  相似文献

Entanglement irreversibility from quantum discord and quantum deficit   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We relate the problem of irreversibility of entanglement with the recently defined measures of quantum correlation--quantum discord and one-way quantum deficit. We show that the entanglement of formation is always strictly larger than the coherent information and the entanglement cost is also larger in most cases. We prove irreversibility of entanglement under local operations and classical communication for a family of entangled states. This family is a generalization of the maximally correlated states for which we also give an analytic expression for the distillable entanglement, the relative entropy of entanglement, the distillable secret key, and the quantum discord.  相似文献

Quantum entanglement has become a resource for the fascinating developments in quantum information and quantum communication during the last decades. It quantifies a certain nonclassical correlation property of a density matrix representing the quantum state of a composite system. We discuss the concept of how entanglement changes with respect to different factorizations of the algebra which describes the total quantum system. Depending on the considered factorization a quantum state appears either entangled or separable. For pure states we always can switch unitarily between separability and entanglement, however, for mixed states a minimal amount of mixedness is needed. We discuss our general statements in detail for the familiar case of qubits, the GHZ states, Werner states and Gisin states, emphasizing their geometric features. As theorists we use and play with this free choice of factorization, which for an experimentalist is often naturally fixed. For theorists it offers an extension of the interpretations and is adequate to generalizations, as we point out in the examples of quantum teleportation and entanglement swapping.  相似文献

We use the generalized Wootters formula, the positive partial transpose(PPT) criterion and the matched entanglement witness, to detect entanglement of three-qubit GHZ and W superposition state and its decayed states. It shows that the results of the generalized Wootters formula in the part near the W state are tight. In the other parts, the PPT criterion is superior to the generalized Wootters formula. Furthermore, we investigate the relationship between entanglement and coherence.  相似文献

Optimal entanglement criterion for mixed quantum states   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
We develop a strong and computationally simple entanglement criterion. The criterion is based on an elementary positive map Phi which operates on state spaces with even dimension N > or = 4. It is shown that Phi detects many entangled states with a positive partial transposition (PPT) and that it leads to a class of optimal entanglement witnesses. This implies that there are no other witnesses which can detect more entangled PPT states. The map Phi yields a systematic method for the explicit construction of high-dimensional manifolds of bound entangled states.  相似文献

Two closest single-qubit states could be diagonalised by the same unitary matrix, which helps to find the relative entropy of entanglement of a two-qubit ’X’ state. We formulate two binary equations for the relative entropy of entanglement and the corresponding closest separable state of a given two-qubit ’X’ state. This approach can be applied to get the relative entropy of entanglement of many widely-discussed two-qubit states, such as pure states,Werner states, and so on.  相似文献

Recently, it was argued that the binegativity might be a good quantifier of entanglement for two-qubit states. Like the concurrence and the negativity, the binegativity is also analytically computable quantifier for all two qubits. Based on numerical evidence, it was conjectured that it is a PPT (positive partial transposition) monotone and thus fulfills the criterion to be a good measure of entanglement. In this work, we investigate its behavior under noisy channels which indicate that the binegativity is decreasing monotonically with respect to increasing noise. We also find that the binegativity is closely connected to the negativity and has closed analytical form for arbitrary two qubits. Our study supports the conjecture that the binegativity is a monotone.  相似文献

We derive a new inequality for entanglement for a mixed four-partite state. Employing this inequality, we present a one-shot lower bound for entanglement cost and prove that entanglement cost is strictly larger than zero for any entangled state. We demonstrate that irreversibility occurs in the process of formation for all nondistillable entangled states. In this way we solve a long standing problem of how "real" is entanglement of bound entangled states. Using the new inequality we also prove the impossibility of local cloning of a known entangled state.  相似文献

We study the nonlinear positive map of the density matrix of two-qubit Werner states, called the nonlinear channel. The map ρ → Φ(ρ) is realized by the rational function Φ. We discuss the influence of the map on the entanglement properties of the transformed density matrix. We investigate the violation of the Bell inequality (CHSH inequality) for the two-qubit state Φ(ρ). The nonlinear channels under discussion create the entangled state from a separable Werner state. We study the quantum spin tomograms of the states.  相似文献
