Then, in the case of stable and superstable theories, we make a general study of the notion of rank. We give an axiomatization of the class ECF of exponentially closed fields, which includes the pseudo-exponential fields previously introduced by the second author, and show that it is superstable over its interpretation of arithmetic. Furthermore, ECF is exactly the elementary class of the pseudo-exponential fields if and only if the Diophantine conjecture CIT on atypical intersections of tori with subvarieties is true.  相似文献

In [E. Baro, M. Otero, On o-minimal homotopy, Quart. J. Math. (2009) 15pp, in press (doi:10.1093/qmath/hap011)] o-minimal homotopy was developed for the definable category, proving o-minimal versions of the Hurewicz theorems and the Whitehead theorem. Here, we extend these results to the category of locally definable spaces, for which we introduce homology and homotopy functors. We also study the concept of connectedness in ?-definable groups — which are examples of locally definable spaces. We show that the various concepts of connectedness associated to these groups, which have appeared in the literature, are non-equivalent.  相似文献

A structure M is pregeometric if the algebraic closure is a pregeometry in all structures elementarily equivalent to M. We define a generalisation: structures with an existential matroid. The main examples are superstable groups of Lascar U-rank a power of ω and d-minimal expansion of fields. Ultraproducts of pregeometric structures expanding an integral domain, while not pregeometric in general, do have a unique existential matroid.Generalising previous results by van den Dries, we define dense elementary pairs of structures expanding an integral domain and with an existential matroid, and we show that the corresponding theories have natural completions, whose models also have a unique existential matroid. We also extend the above result to dense tuples of structures.  相似文献

We define a logic D capable of expressing dependence of a variable on designated variables only. Thus D has similar goals to the Henkin quantifiers of [4] and the independence friendly logic of [6] that it much resembles. The logic D achieves these goals by realizing the desired dependence declarations of variables on the level of atomic formulas. By [3] and [17], ability to limit dependence relations between variables leads to existential second order expressive power. Our D avoids some difficulties arising in the original independence friendly logic from coupling the dependence declarations with existential quantifiers. As is the case with independence friendly logic, truth of D is definable inside D. We give such a definition for D in the spirit of [11] and [2] and [1].  相似文献

A model of countable similarity type and cardinality is expandable if every consistent extension of its complete theory with is satisfiable in and it is compactly expandable if every such extension which additionally is finitely satisfiable in is satisfiable in . In the countable case and in the case of a model of cardinality of a superstable theory without the finite cover property the notions of saturation, expandability and compactness for expandability agree. The question of the existence of compactly expandable models which are not expandable is open. Here we present a test which serves to prove that a compactly expandable model of cardinality of a superstable theory is expandable. It is stated in terms of the existence of a certain elementary submodel whose corresponding theory of pairs of models satisfies a weak elimination of Ramsey quantifiers. We study tree‐like decompositions of models of a theory and a related complexity measure called partition width. We prove a dichotomy concerning partition width and definable pairing functions: either the partition width of models is bounded, or the theory admits definable pairing functions. We consider a class of weakly o‐minimal structures admitting an o‐minimal style cell decomposition, for which one can construct certain canonical o‐minimal extension. The paper contains several fundamental facts concerning the structures in question. Among other things, it is proved that the strong cell decomposition property is preserved under elementary equivalences. We also investigate fiberwise properties (of definable sets and definable functions), definable equivalence relations, and conditions implying elimination of imaginaries.  相似文献

We develop a version of Herbrand's theorem for continuous logic and use it to prove that definable functions in infinite‐dimensional Hilbert spaces are piecewise approximable by affine functions. We obtain similar results for definable functions in Hilbert spaces expanded by a group of generic unitary operators and Hilbert spaces expanded by a generic subspace. We also show how Herbrand's theorem can be used to characterize definable functions in absolutely ubiquitous structures from classical logic.  相似文献

The correspondence between definable connected groupoids in a theory T and internal generalised imaginary sorts of T, established by Hrushovski in [“Groupoids, imaginaries and internal covers,” Turkish Journal of Mathematics, 2012], is here extended in two ways: First, it is shown that the correspondence is in fact an equivalence of categories, with respect to appropriate notions of morphism. Secondly, the equivalence of categories is shown to vary uniformly in definable families, with respect to an appropriate relativisation of these categories. Some elaborations on Hrushovki's original constructions are also included.  相似文献

The paper builds on both a simply typed term system and a computation model on Scott domains via so-called parallel typed while programs (PTWP). The former provides a notion of partial primitive recursive functional on Scott domains supporting a suitable concept of parallelism. Computability on Scott domains seems to entail that Kleene's schema of higher type simultaneous course-of-values recursion (scvr) is not reducible to partial primitive recursion. So extensions and PTWP are studied that are closed under scvr. The twist are certain type 1 G?del recursors for simultaneous partial primitive recursion. Formally, denotes a function , however, is modelled such that is finite, or in other words, a partial sequence. As for PTWP, the concept of type writable variables is introduced, providing the possibility of creating and manipulating partial sequences. It is shown that the PTWP-computable functionals coincide with those definable in plus a constant for sequential minimisation. In particular, the functionals definable in denoted can be characterised by a subclass of PTWP-computable functionals denoted . Moreover, hierarchies of strictly increasing classes in the style of Heinermann and complexity classes are introduced such that . These results extend those for and PTWP [Nig94]. We prove, by explicit construction, that not all sets definable in polynomially bounded o-minimal structures have mild parameterization. Our methods do not depend on the bounds particular to the definition of mildness and therefore our construction is also valid for a generalized form of parameterization, which we call G-mild. Moreover, we present a cell decomposition result for certain o-minimal structures which may be of independent interest. This allows us to show how our construction can produce polynomially bounded, model complete expansions of the real ordered field which, in addition to lacking G-mild parameterization, nonetheless still have analytic cell decomposition.  相似文献

We find a small weakly minimal theory with an isolated weakly minimal type ofM-rank ∞ and an isolated weakly minimal type of arbitrarily large finiteM-rank. These examples lead to the notion of an m-normal theory. We prove theM-gap conjecture for m-normalT. In superstable theories with few countable models we characterize traces of complete types as traces of some formulas. We prove that a 1-based theory with few countable models is m-normal. We investigate generic subgroups of small superstable groups. We compare the notions of independence induced by measure (μ-independence) and category (m-independence). Using appropriate notation systems for proofs, cut-reduction can often be rendered feasible on these notations. Explicit bounds can be given. We formulate C. Freiling's axioms of symmetry for general second-order structures with respect to a certain ideal of small sets contained in them and find several equivalent formulations of the principles. Then we focus on particular models, namely saturated and recursively saturated ones, and show that they are symmetric with respect to appropriate classes of small sets when their second-order part consists of definable sets. We study the theory of lovely pairs of geometric structures, in particular o-minimal structures. We use the pairs to isolate a class of geometric structures called weakly locally modular which generalizes the class of linear structures in the settings of SU-rank one theories and o-minimal theories. For o-minimal theories, we use the Peterzil-Starchenko trichotomy theorem to characterize for a sufficiently general point, the local geometry around it in terms of the thorn U-rank of its type inside a lovely pair.  相似文献
