Memory is an important factor on the evolution of cooperation in spatial structure. For evolutionary biologists, the problem is often how cooperation acts can emerge in an evolving system. In the case of snowdrift game, it is found that memory can boost cooperation level for large cost-to-benefit ratio r, while inhibit cooperation for small r. Thus, how to enlarge the range of r for the purpose of enhancing cooperation becomes a hot issue recently. This paper addresses a new memory-based approach and its core lies in: Each agent applies the given rule to compare its own historical payoffs in a certain memory size, and take the obtained maximal one as virtual payoff. In order to get the optimal strategy, each agent randomly selects one of its neighbours to compare their virtual payoffs, which can lead to the optimal strategy. Both constant-size memory and size-varying memory are investigated by means of a scenario of asynchronous updating algorithm on regular lattices with different sizes. Simulation results show that this approach effectively enhances cooperation level in spatial structure and makes the high cooperation level simultaneously emerge for both small and large r. Moreover, it is discovered that population sizes have a significant influence on the effects of cooperation.  相似文献

The public goods game is an important theoretical model for investigating the emergence of cooperation in the multi-player social dilemma. It has been proven that scale-free networks can significantly promote cooperation, but fail to sustain cooperation when the player obtains the normalized payoff. In this paper, we introduce heterogeneous investment mechanism into the public goods game on scale-free networks, and study the evolution of cooperation in both cases of accumulated and normalized payoff. Our research reveals that the heterogeneous investment mechanism can obviously facilitate cooperation as the adjusted parameter α increases. The increase of α allows cooperators to emerge under lower values of r. In the case of accumulated payoff, cooperators always firmly occupy the hubs, and the population keeps high cooperation level. In the case of normalized payoff, the increase of α changes the situation that the hubs are easily invaded by defectors, and inhibits the spread of defectors.  相似文献

We introduce a deterministic win-stay-lose-shift rule into the spatial public goods game, according to which a player will change its current strategy only if its payoff is below a predefined aspiration level. Simulation results on the square lattice and scale-free network indicate that the aspiration level greatly affects the evolution of cooperation. For small multiplication factors, the frequency of cooperation increases to 0.5 as the aspiration level increases. For large multiplication factors, intermediate levels of aspiration prove optimal for the successful evolution of public cooperation. Some qualitative analyses are provided to explain the above results. Besides, we have found that there exists a ping-pong vibration of cooperation at some specific values of multiplication factors and aspiration levels.  相似文献

We investigate the impact of memory effect on the evolution of cooperation in the spatial prisoner's dilemma game, in which each player will record his own strategies during the previous M game rounds (here, M is also named as the memory length). At each time step, each individual will update his current strategy according to the Fermi-like probability which will be multiplied by a pre-factor, and this factor will be correlated with the fraction of previous strategy states identical with the individual strategy to be updated. The numerical simulation results demonstrate that the memory length will largely influence the cooperation level at the stationary state, and it is clearly shown that the intermediate value of M will optimally favor the emergence of cooperation and the dynamical evolution, and characteristic patterns also support these conclusions. In addition, we depict the full cooperation phase diagrams and find that the cooperation region will be broadened under the case of moderate M values. The current results also indicate that the limited memory may be enough for us to design the effective promotion mechanism and further understand the emergency of cooperation taking place upon many networked populations.  相似文献

We study the effects of mobility on the evolution of cooperation among mobile players, which imitate collective motion of biological flocks and interact with neighbors within a prescribed radius R. Adopting the the prisoner’s dilemma game and the snowdrift game as metaphors, we find that cooperation can be maintained and even enhanced for low velocities and small payoff parameters, when compared with the case that all agents do not move. But such enhancement of cooperation is largely determined by the value of R, and for modest values of R, there is an optimal value of velocity to induce the maximum cooperation level. Besides, we find that intermediate values of R or initial population densities are most favorable for cooperation, when the velocity is fixed. Depending on the payoff parameters, the system can reach an absorbing state of cooperation when the snowdrift game is played. Our findings may help understanding the relations between individual mobility and cooperative behavior in social systems.  相似文献

A fundamental question of human society is the evolution of cooperation. Many previous studies explored this question via setting spatial background, where players obtain their payoffs by playing game with their nearest neighbors. Another undoubted fact is that the environment plays an important role in the individual development. Inspired by these phenomena, we reconsider the definition of individual fitness which integrates the environment, denoted by the average payoff of all individual neighbors, with the traditional individual payoffs by introducing a selection parameter u. Tuning u equal to zero returns the traditional version, while increasing u bears the influence of environment. We find that considering the environment, i.e., integrating neighborhoods in the evaluation of fitness, promotes cooperation. If we enhance the value of u, the invasion of defection could be resisted better. We also provide quantitative explanations and complete phase diagrams presenting the influence of the environment on the evolution of cooperation. Finally, the universality of this mechanism is testified for different neighborhood sizes, different topology structures and different game models. Our work may shed light on the emergence and persistence of cooperation in our life.  相似文献

We present a new form of a Parrondo game using discrete-time quantum walk on a line. The two players A and B with different quantum coins operators, individually losing the game can develop a strategy to emerge as joint winners by using their coins alternatively, or in combination for each step of the quantum walk evolution. We also present a strategy for a player A (B) to have a winning probability more than player B (A). Significance of the game strategy in information theory and physical applications are also discussed.  相似文献

Many previous studies have shown that the environment plays an important role for social individuals. In this paper, we integrate the environmental factor, which is defined as the average payoff of all a player's neighbours, with the standard Fermi updating rule by introducing a tunable parameter, ω. It is found that the level of cooperation increases remarkably, and that the cooperators can better resist the invasion of defection with an increase in ω. This interesting phenomenon is then explained from a microscopic view. In addition, the universality of this mechanism is also proved with the help of the small-world network and the random regular graph. This work may be helpful in understanding cooperation behaviour in species from unicellular organisms up to human beings.  相似文献

When more than one pedestrian want to move to the same site, conflicts appear and thus the involved pedestrians play a motion game.In order to describe the emergence of cooperation during the conflict resolving process,an evolutionary cellular automation model is established considering the effect of aspiration and mean gain.In each game, pedestrian may be gentle cooperator or aggressive defector. We propose a set of win-stay-lose-shrift WSLS like rules for updating pedestrian's strategy. These rules prescribe that if the mean gain of current strategy between some given steps is larger than aspiration the strategy keeps, otherwise the strategy changes. The simulation results show that a high level aspiration will lead to more cooperation. With the increment of the statistic length, pedestrians will be more rational in decision making. It is also found that when the aspiration level is small enough and the statistic length is large enough all the pedestrian will turn to defectors. We use the prisoner's dilemma model to explain it.At last we discuss the effect of aspiration on fundamental diagram.  相似文献

Conditional interactions are common in both human and animal societies. To understand the impacts of this feature on the evolution of cooperation, we propose a modified public goods game combined with conditional interactions in terms of the aspiration payoffs. Through simulations, we find that the function of the fraction of cooperators and the synergy factor is non-monotonic. This indicates that a large synergy factor is not always in favor of the promotion of cooperation. In addition, for a high aspiration, the typical coexistence state of cooperators and defectors could disappear, and the system demonstrates a sharp transition from the complete defection state to the complete cooperation state as the synergy factor increases. Furthermore, an interesting critical phenomenon is found in a finite system, i.e., the system can randomly evolve into a complete defection state or a complete cooperation state. An explanation of these evolutionary outcomes is provided in this paper, which is in agreement with the simulation results.  相似文献

We generalize the usual two-strategy prisoner?s dilemma game to a multi-strategy game, in which the strategy variable s is allowed to take q different fractional values lying between 0 and 1. The fractional-valued strategies signify that individuals are not absolutely cooperative or defective, instead they can adopt intermediate strategies. Simulation results on 1D and 2D lattices show that, compared with the binary strategy game, the multi-strategy game can sustain cooperation in more stringent defective environments. We give a comprehensive analysis of the distributions of the survived strategies and we compare pairwise the relative strength and weakness of different strategies. It turns out that some intermediate strategies survive the pure defection because they can reduce being exploited and at the same time benefit from the spatial reciprocity effect. Our work may shed some light on the intermediate behaviors in human society.  相似文献

In this paper, we study an aspiration-induced migration model, in which each individual plays the prisoner’s dilemma game with those being within a circle of radius r centered on himself/herself. An individual will migrate to a randomly chosen place with the velocity v if his/her payoff is below the aspiration level. We report that cooperative behavior is favored when the aspiration level and interaction radius are moderate, and the migration velocity is slow.  相似文献

We introduce a preferential selection mechanism into a spatial public goods game where players are located on a square lattice. Each individual chooses one of its neighbors as a reference with a probability proportional to , where Py is the neighbor’s payoff and A (≥0) is a tunable parameter. It is shown that the introduction of such a preferential selection can remarkably promote the emergence of cooperation over a wide range of the multiplication factor. We find that the mean payoffs of cooperators along the boundary are higher than that of defectors and cooperators form larger clusters as A increases. The extinction thresholds of cooperators and defectors for different values of noise are also investigated.  相似文献

An evolutionary prisoner’s dilemma game with players adjusting their learning motivation is studied. At each time step, each player can adjust his/her learning motivation according to the difference between the current payoff and payoff aspiration. Greater payoff aspiration means stronger learning motivation, and vice versa. We find that the density of cooperation in a spatial prisoner’s dilemma game is enhanced when the learning motivation mechanism is considered. Meanwhile, we show that proper noise can not only induce the highest cooperation level but also can maintain the cooperation phenomenon even though there is more temptation to defect.  相似文献

We investigate the effects of heterogeneous investment and distribution on the evolution of cooperation in the context of the public goods games. To do this, we develop a simple model in which each individual allocates differing funds to his direct neighbors based upon their difference in connectivity, because of the heterogeneity of real social ties. This difference is characterized by the weight of the link between paired individuals, with an adjustable parameter precisely controlling the heterogeneous level of ties. By numerical simulations, it is found that allocating both too much and too little funds to diverse neighbors can remarkably improve the cooperation level. However, there exists a worst mode of funds allocation leading to the most unfavorable cooperation induced by the moderate values of the parameter. In order to better reveal the potential causes behind these nontrivial phenomena we probe the microscopic characteristics including the average payoff and the cooperator density for individuals of different degrees. It demonstrates rather different dynamical behaviors between the modes of these two types of cooperation promoter. Besides, we also investigate the total link weights of individuals numerically and theoretically for negative values of the parameter, and conclude that the payoff magnitude of middle-degree nodes plays a crucial role in determining the cooperators’ fate.  相似文献

Using molecular dynamics (MD) simulation and evolutionary game theory, we incorporate the spacial structure of individuals into the study of the behaviors of cooperation, by adopting the prisoner's dilemma and snowdrift game as metaphors of cooperation between unrelated individuals. The results show that the introduction of spacial structure enhances cooperation using the strategy of prisoner's dilemma while does not make much changes to the cooperation if the strategy of snowdrift game is used. It is also found that our model is a meta-phase between regular ring graph model and complex network model. And the “activity of players” T* we introduced makes our simulation much more closer to real world problems.  相似文献

The electronic, structural and magnetic phase diagram of the colossal magnetoresistive Sm1−xSrxMnO3 (0.16≤х≤0.67) manganites is constructed on the basis of their systematic studies by high-resolution neutron powder diffraction. It is shown the tendency of researched system to formation of the phase-separated states on crystallographic as well as, in the even greater extent, on magnetic level. A clear correlation between fine specific features and temperature evolution of crystal structures, spin ordering of the manganese ions, and the physical properties of the samarium-strontium series of manganites obtained from temperature magnetic and transport measurements is demonstrated. It was found that ground state of Sm-Sr manganites shows very various physical properties depending first of all on the doping level х and, for given х, determined by two distortion parameters, namely, the average A-cation size <rA> and the local A-cation size mismatch σ2.  相似文献

We study the time evolution of cooperation in a recently proposed N-person evolutionary snowdrift game, by focusing on the details of the evolutionary dynamics. It is found that the analytic solution for the equilibrium fraction of cooperators as given previously by the replicator dynamics stems from a balance between the terms: the cost to contribute to a common task and the risk in refusing to participate in a common task. Analytic expressions for these two terms are given, and their magnitudes are studied over the whole range of parameter space. Away from equilibrium, it is the imbalance between these terms that drives the system to equilibrium. A continuous time first-order differential equation for the degree of cooperation is derived, for arbitrary interacting group size N and cost-to-benefit ratio. Analytic solutions to the time evolution of cooperation for the cases of N=2 and N=3 are obtained, with results in good agreement with those obtained by numerical simulations. For arbitrary N, numerical solutions to the equation give the time evolution of cooperation, with the long time limit giving the equilibrium fraction of cooperators.  相似文献

The late-time nonlinear evolution of the Rayleigh-Taylor (RT) and Richtmyer-Meshkov (RM) instabilities for random initial perturbations is investigated using a statistical mechanics model based on single-mode and bubble-competition physics at all Atwood numbers ( A ) and full numerical simulations in two and three dimensions. It is shown that the RT mixing zone bubble and spike fronts evolve as hα·A·gt2 with different values of α for the bubble and spike fronts. The RM mixing zone fronts evolve as htθ with different values of θ for bubbles and spikes. Similar analysis yields a linear growth with time of the Kelvin–Helmholtz mixing zone. The dependence of the RT and RM scaling parameters on A and the dimensionality will be discussed. The 3D predictions are found to be in good agreement with recent Linear Electric Motor (LEM) experiments.  相似文献
