We consider the spectral problem for a non self-adjoint Dirichlet problem for a higher-order elliptic operator in a sequence of perforated domains. We establish the convergence of the singular numbers generated by the problem to the corresponding singular numbers generated by a limit problem of the same type but containing an additional term of capacity type.Research supported by the National Research Foundation of South Africa.  相似文献

This paper deals with some general irregular oblique derivative problems for nonlinear uniformly elliptic equations of second order in a multiply connected plane domain. Firstly, we state the well-posedness of a new set of modified boundary conditions. Secondly, we verify the existence of solutions of the modified boundary-value problem for harmonic functions, and then prove the solvability of the modified problem for nonlinear elliptic equations, which includes the original boundary-value problem (i.e. boundary conditions without involving undertermined functions data). Here, mainly, the location of the zeros of analytic functions, a priori estimates for solutions and the continuity method are used in deriving all these results. Furthermore, the present approach and setting seems to be new and different from what has been employed before.The research was partially supported by a UPGC Grant of Hong Kong.  相似文献

We consider a semilinear elliptic Dirichlet problem with jumping nonlinearity and, using variational methods, we show that the number of solutions tends to infinity as the number of jumped eigenvalues tends to infinity. In order to prove this fact, for every positive integer k we prove that, when a parameter is large enough, there exists a solution which presents k interior peaks. We also describe the asymptotic behaviour and the profile of this solution as the parameter tends to infinity.  相似文献

Via Linking theorem and delicate energy estimates, the existence of nontrivial solutions for a nonlinear PDE with an inverse square potential and critical sobolev exponent is proved. This result gives a partial (positive) answer to an open problem proposed in Ferrero and Gazzola (J. Differential Equations 177 (2001) 494).  相似文献

Our aim in this article is to study the existence and regularity of solutions of a quasilinear elliptic-hyperbolic equation. This equation appears in the design of blade cascade profiles. This leads to an inverse problem for designing two-dimensional channels with prescribed velocity distributions along channel walls. The governing equation is obtained by transformation of the physical domain to the plane defined by the streamlines and the potential lines of fluid. We establish an existence and regularity result of solutions for a more general framework which includes our physical problem as a specific example.  相似文献

We investigate the homogeneous Dirichlet boundary value problem for a class of second-order nonlinear elliptic partial differential equations with a gradient term and singular data. Under general conditions on the data, we study the behaviour of the solution near the boundary of the domain. In this paper, we consider a nonlinear elliptic system which is an extension of the single equation derived by investigating the stationary states of the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. We establish the existence and uniqueness of solutions to the Dirichlet problem on the ball. In addition, the nonexistence of the ground state solutions under certain conditions on the nonlinearities and the complete structure of different types of solutions to the shooting problem are proved.  相似文献

In this paper we study a quasilinear elliptic problem with the Dirichlet boundary condition in a bounded domain involving the operator Au=−ΔpuΔqu. Assuming that the nonlinearity has a concave-convex behavior we obtain some multiplicity results. In this paper we consider a heat equation with nonlinear boundary condition occurring in population genetics, the selection–migration problem for alleles in a region, considering flow of genes throughout the boundary. Such a problem determines a gradient flow in a convenient phase space and then the dynamics for large times depends heavily on the knowledge of the equilibrium solutions. In the study of composites, it is important to determine the shape of inclusions. There is an interesting case in conductivity problem that the inclusion is insulated. In present paper, we first obtain the representation formula of the solution to an exterior problem, and then prove that for any uniform loading such solution can be extended into the inclusion as an affine function if and only if the insulated inclusion is an ellipse or an ellipsoid. We also show that an analogous result holds for the elasticity problem, which is related to Eshelby conjecture. The main results in this paper are motivated by Ammari, Kang, Kim and Lee (2013), Ammari, Kang and Lim (2005), Kang and Milton (2008), and Liu (2008).  相似文献

In this paper, some mixed sublinear-superlinear critical problem extending the famous problem of Brezis–Nirenberg are analysed. The existence of solutions is discussed. A phase plane analysis is performed in order to transform the problem into an ordinary differential equation. Finally, a full classification of radial solutions according to their behavior at the origin is performed for subcritical, critical and supercritical cases.  相似文献
