In this paper, we discuss the uniqueness in an integral geometry problem along the straight lines in a strongly convex domain. Our problem is related with the problem of finding a Riemannian metric by the distances between all pairs of the boundary points. For the proof, the problem is reduced to an inverse source problem for a kinetic equation and then the uniqueness theorem is proved using the tools of Fourier analysis.  相似文献

Considering a time-harmonic electromagnetic plane wave incident on an arbitrarily shaped open cavity embedded in infinite ground plane, the physical process is modelled by Maxwell's equations. We investigate the inverse problem of determining the shape of the open cavity from the information of the measured scattered field. Results on the uniqueness and the local stability of the inverse problem in the 2-dimensional TM (transverse magnetic) polarization are proved in this paper.  相似文献

We investigate the uniqueness and agreement between different kinds of solutions for a free boundary problem in heat propagation that in classical terms is formulated as follows: to find a continuous function defined in a domain and such that

0\}. \end{displaymath}">

We also assume that the interior boundary of the positivity set, \nobreak 0\}$">, so-called free boundary, is a regular hypersurface on which the following conditions are satisfied:

Here denotes outward unit spatial normal to the free boundary. In addition, initial data are specified, as well as either Dirichlet or Neumann data on the parabolic boundary of . This problem arises in combustion theory as a limit situation in the propagation of premixed flames (high activation energy limit).

The problem admits classical solutions only for good data and for small times. Several generalized concepts of solution have been proposed, among them the concepts of limit solution and viscosity solution. We investigate conditions under which the three concepts agree and produce a unique solution.

In a Banach space E, we consider the inverse problem du(t)/dt = Au(t) + (t)p , u(0) = u 0, u(T) = u1, with an unknown function u(t) and an element p E. The operator A is assumed linear and closed. In this paper, we establish minimal constraints on the function C([0, T]) for which the uniqueness of the solution of the inverse problem is completely described in terms of the eigenvalues of the operator A.Translated from Matematicheskie Zametki, vol. 77, no. 2, 2005, pp. 273–290.Original Russian Text Copyright © 2005 by I. Uniqueness is proven for two non-overdetermined 3-d inverse problems of the determination of the spatially distributed sound speed in the frequency dependent acoustic PDE. The main new point is the assumption that only the modulus of the scattered complex valued wave field is measured on a certain set. The phase is unknown.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the inverse electromagnetic scattering by a 2D (impenetrable or penetrable) smooth periodic curve. Precisely, we establish global uniqueness results on the inverse problem of determining the grating profile from the scattered fields corresponding to a countably infinite number of quasiperiodic incident waves. For the case of an impenetrable and partially coated perfectly reflecting grating, we prove that the grating profile and its physical property can be uniquely determined from the scattered field measured above the periodic structure. For the case of a penetrable grating, we show that the periodic interface can be uniquely recovered by the scattered field measured only above the interface. A key ingredient in our proofs is a novel mixed reciprocity relation that is derived in this paper for the periodic structures and seems to be new. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We consider the problem of analytic continuation of the solution of the system of thermoelasticity equations in a bounded three-dimensional domain on the basis of known values of the solution and the corresponding stress on a part of the boundary, i.e., the Cauchy problem. We construct an approximate solution of the problem based on the method of Carleman's function.Translated fromMatematicheskie Zametki, Vol. 64, No. 2, pp. 212–217, August, 1998.In conclusion, the authors wish to thank Professor M. This paper is devoted to the investigation of the solution to the Cauchy problem for a system of partial differential equations describing thermoelasticity of nonsimple materials in a three-dimensional space. The model of linear dynamical thermoelasticity of nonsimple materials is considered as the system of partial differential equations of fourth order. In this paper, we proposed a convenient evolutionary method of approach to the system of equations of nonsimple thermoelasticity. We proved the LpLq time decay estimates for the solution to the Cauchy problem for linear thermoelasticity of nonsimple materials.  相似文献

An inverse problem of the reconstruction of the right-hand side of the Euler-Darboux equation is studied. This problem is equivalent to the Volterra integral equation of the third kind with the operator of multiplication by a smooth nonincreasing function. Numerical solution of this problem is constructed using an integral representation of the solution of the inverse problem, the regularization method, and the method of quadratures. The convergence and stability of the numerical method is proved.  相似文献

In this paper, we establish a Carleman estimate for a strongly damped wave equation in order to solve a coefficient inverse problems of retrieving a stationary potential from a single time‐dependent Neumann boundary measurement on a suitable part of the boundary. This coefficient inverse problem is for a strongly damped wave equation. We prove the uniqueness and the local stability results for this inverse problem. The proof of the results relies on Carleman estimate and a certain energy estimates for hyperbolic equation with strongly damped term. Moreover, this method could be used for a similar inverse problem for an integro‐differential equation with hyperbolic memory kernel. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the inverse Robin transmission problem with one electrostatic measurement. We prove a uniqueness result for the simultaneous determination of the Robin parameter p, the conductivity k, and the subdomain D, when D is a ball. When D and k are fixed, we prove a uniqueness result and a directional Lipschitz stability estimate for the Robin parameter p. When p and k are fixed, we give an upper bound to the subdomain D. For the reconstruction purposes of the Robin parameter p, we set the inverse problem under an optimization form for a Kohn–Vogelius cost functional. We prove the existence and the stability of the optimization problem. Finally, we show some numerical experiments that agree with the theoretical considerations. An X-ray tomography problem is formulated and analyzed within the framework of a mathematical model based on the polychromatic stationary radiative transfer equation with no collision integral. It is assumed that the outgoing radiation density is only given, and the task is to find the surface of an internal inclusion on whose boundary the coefficients of the equation may have jump discontinuities. The uniqueness of the solution is proved, and the corresponding solution algorithm is outlined. A feature of this work is that the research technique is local in character. This makes it possible to use only some of the available data, and the procedure can be stopped at an intermediate stage of the reconstruction, which can be useful in applications.  相似文献

The aim of this article is to study the parabolic inverse problem of determination of the leading coefficient in the heat equation with an extra condition at the terminal. After introducing a new variable, we reformulate the problem as a nonclassical parabolic equation along with the initial and boundary conditions. The uniqueness and continuous dependence of the solution upon the data are demonstrated, and then finite difference methods, backward Euler and Crank–Nicolson schemes are studied. The results of some numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the efficiency and the rapid convergence of the methods. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We consider the scattering of time-harmonic elastic waves inan isotropic medium which is characterized by constant Lamécoefficients and an inhomogeneous mass density. We prove thata knowledge of the far-field pattern for all incident planewaves and a single frequency provides sufficient informationto determine the mass density uniquely. To this end we constructa periodic Faddeev-type fundamental solution for the Navierequation and derive the existence of complex geometrical opticssolutions to the Navier equation.  相似文献
