Microsolvated formamide clusters have been generated in a supersonic jet expansion and characterized using Fourier transform microwave spectroscopy. Three conformers of the monohydrated cluster and one of the dihydrated complex have been observed. Seven monosubstituted isotopic species have been measured for the most stable conformer of formamide...H(2)O, which adopts a closed planar ring structure stabilized by two intermolecular hydrogen bonds (N-H...O(H)-H...O=C). The two higher energy forms of formamide...H(2)O have been observed for the first time. The second most stable conformer is stabilized by a O-H...O=C and a weak C-H...O hydrogen bond, while, in the less stable form, water accepts a hydrogen bond from the anti hydrogen of the amino group. For formamide...(H(2)O)(2), the parent and nine monosubstituted isotopic species have been observed. In this cluster the two water molecules close a cycle with the amide group through three intermolecular hydrogen bonds (N-H...O(H)-H...O(H)-H...O=C), the nonbonded hydrogen atoms of water adopting an up-down configuration. Substitution (r(s)) and effective (r(0)) structures have been determined for formamide, the most stable form of formamide...H(2)O and formamide...(H(2)O)(2). The results on monohydrated formamide clusters can help to explain the observed preferences of bound water in proteins. Clear evidence of sigma-bond cooperativity effects emerges when comparing the structures of the mono- and dihydrated formamide clusters. No detectable structural changes due to pi-bond cooperativity are observed on formamide upon hydration.  相似文献

Pyridine containing water clusters, H(+)(pyridine)(m)(H(2)O)(n), have been studied both experimentally by a quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometer and by quantum chemical calculations. In the experiments, H(+)(pyridine)(m)(H(2)O)(n) with m = 1-4 and n = 0-80 are observed. For the cluster distributions observed, there are no magic numbers, neither in the abundance spectra, nor in the evaporation spectra from size selected clusters. Experiments with size-selected clusters H(+)(pyridine)(m)(H(2)O)(n), with m = 0-3, reacting with D(2)O at a center-of-mass energy of 0.1 eV were also performed. The cross-sections for H/D isotope exchange depend mainly on the number of water molecules in the cluster and not on the number of pyridine molecules. Clusters having only one pyridine molecule undergo D(2)O/H(2)O ligand exchange, while H(+)(pyridine)(m)(H(2)O)(n), with m = 2, 3, exhibit significant H/D scrambling. These results are rationalized by quantum chemical calculations (B3LYP and MP2) for H(+)(pyridine)(1)(H(2)O)(n) and H(+)(pyridine)(2)(H(2)O)(n), with n = 1-6. In clusters containing one pyridine, the water molecules form an interconnected network of hydrogen bonds associated with the pyridinium ion via a single hydrogen bond. For clusters containing two pyridines, the two pyridine molecules are completely separated by the water molecules, with each pyridine being positioned diametrically opposite within the cluster. In agreement with experimental observations, these calculations suggest a "see-saw mechanism" for pendular proton transfer between the two pyridines in H(+)(pyridine)(2)(H(2)O)(n) clusters.  相似文献

Computational chemistry simulations were performed to determine the effect that the addition of a single formic acid molecule has on the structure and stability of protonated water clusters. Previous experimental studies showed that addition of formic acid to protonated pure water results in higher intensities of large-sized clusters when compared to pure water and methanol-water mixed clusters. For larger, protonated clusters, molecular dynamics simulations were performed on H(+)(H(2)O)(n), H(+)(H(2)O)(n)CH(3)OH, and H(+)(H(2)O)(n)CHOOH clusters, 19-28 molecules in size, using a reactive force field (ReaxFF). Based on these computations, formic acid-water clusters were found to have significantly higher binding energies per molecule. Addition of formic acid to a water cluster was found to alter the structure of the hydrogen-bonding network, creating selective sites within the cluster, enabling the formation of new hydrogen bonds, and increasing both the stability of the cluster and its rate of growth.

Ab initio and density functional methods have been used to examine the structures and energetics of the hydrated clusters of methane sulfonic acid (MSA), CH3SO3H.(H2O)n (n = 1-5). For small clusters with one or two water molecules, the most stable clusters have strong cyclic hydrogen bonds between the proton of OH group in MSA and the water molecules. With three or more water molecules, the proton transfer from MSA to water becomes possible, forming ion-pair structures between CH3SO3- and H3O+ moieties. For MSA.(H2O)3, the energy difference between the most stable ion pair and neutral structures are less than 1 kJ/mol, thus coexistence of neutral and ion-pair isomers are expected. For larger clusters with four and five water molecules, the ion-pair isomers are more stable (>10 kJ/mol) than the neutral ones; thus, proton transfer takes place. The ion-pair clusters can have direct hydrogen bond between CH3SO3- and H3O+ or indirect one through water molecule. For MSA.(H2O)5, the energy difference between ion pairs with direct and indirect hydrogen bonds are less than 1 kJ/mol; namely, the charge separation and acid ionization is energetically possible. The calculated IR spectra of stable isomers of MSA.(H2O)n clusters clearly demonstrate the significant red shift of OH stretching of MSA and hydrogen-bonded OH stretching of water molecules as the size of cluster increases.  相似文献

Phosphorus functionalized trimeric alanine compounds (l)- and (d)-P(CH(2)NHCH(CH(3))COOH)(3) 2 are prepared in 90% yields by the Mannich reaction of Tris(hydroxymethyl)phosphine 1 with (l)- or (d)- Alanine in aqueous media. The hydration properties of (l)-2 and (d)-2 in water and water-methanol mixtures are described. The crystal structure analysis of (l)-2.4H(2)O, reveals that the alanine molecules pack to form two-dimensional bilayers running parallel to (001). The layered structural motif depicts two closely packed monolayers of 2 each oriented with its phosphorus atoms projected at the center of the bilayer and adjacent monolayers are held together by hydrogen bonds between amine and carboxylate groups. The water bilayers are juxtaposed with the H-bonded alanine trimers leading to 18-membered (H(2)O)(18) water rings. Exposure of aqueous solution of (l)-2 and (d)-2 to methanol vapors resulted in closely packed (l)-2 and (d)-2 solvated with mixed water-methanol (H(2)O)(15)(CH(3)OH)(3) clusters. The O-O distances in the mixed methanol-water clusters of (l)-2.3H(2)O.CH(3)OH and (d)-2.3H(2)O.CH(3)OH (O-O(average) = 2.857 A) are nearly identical to the O-O distance observed in the supramolecular (H(2)O)(18) water structure (O-O(average) = 2.859 A) implying the retention of the hydrogen bonded structure in water despite the accommodation of hydrophobic methanol groups within the supramolecular (H(2)O)(15)(CH(3)OH)(3) framework. The O-O distances in (l)-2.3H(2)O.CH(3)OH and (d)-2.3H(2)O.CH(3)OH and in (H(2)O)(18) are very close to the O-O distance reported for liquid water (2.85 A).  相似文献

Bare vanadium oxide and hydroxide cluster cations, V(m)O(n)+ and V(m)O(n-1) (OH)+ (m = 1-4, n = 1-10), generated by electrospray ionization, were investigated with respect to their reactivity toward methanol using mass spectrometric techniques. Several reaction channels were observed, such as abstraction of a hydrogen atom, a methyl radical, or a hydroxymethyl radical, elimination of methane, and adduct formation. Moreover, dehydrogenation of methanol to generate formaldehyde was found to occur via four different pathways. Formaldehyde was released as a free molecule either upon transfer of two hydrogen atoms to the cluster or upon transfer of an oxygen atom from the cluster to the neutral alcohol concomitant with elimination of water. Further, formaldehyde was attached to V(m)O(n)+ upon loss of H2 or neutral water to produce the cation V(m)O(n)(OCH(2))+ or V(m)O(n-1) (OCH(2))+, respectively. A reactivity screening revealed that only high-valent vanadium oxide clusters are reactive with respect to H2 uptake, oxygen transfer, and elimination of H2O, whereas smaller and low-valent cluster cations are capable of dehydrogenating methanol via elimination of H2. For comparison, the reactivity of methanol with the corresponding hydroxide cluster ions, V(m)O(n-1) (OH)+, was studied also, for which dominant pathways lead to both condensation and association products, i.e., generation of the ions V(m)O(n-1) (OCH(3))+ and V(m)O(n-1) (OH)(CH(3)OH)+, respectively.  相似文献

The structures of 2-phenylethanethiol (PET, PhCH(2)CH(2)SH) and its 1:1 water clusters have been studied using resonant two-photon ionization spectroscopy including band contour analysis and UV-UV holeburning, combined with extensive ab initio calculations on ground and excited states. The most populated conformer, labeled Ggpi, has a gauche arrangement about the SCCC and HSCC bonds that permits a stabilizing SH...dpi type of hydrogen bond. The other observed conformer, Ag, is anti with respect to the SCCC bond. In the dominant 1:1 water cluster, a water molecule binds to the Ggpi conformer via an OH...S hydrogen bond and two significant CH...O interactions. There is also evidence for water binding to conformer Ag with a similar arrangement, and for a second Ggpi cluster where water inserts between the SH and the aromatic ring. The additional interactions to the water molecules result in net D(e) binding energies approximately double those resulting from a single thiol-water hydrogen bond. The (1)(pi,pi(*)) excited state lifetimes in the bare molecules are very short because of internal conversion to a dissociative (1)(n,pi(*)) state related to the thiol. In the dominant Gw(1) cluster, the lifetime is significantly increased from <1 to approximately 4 ns. Hydrogen bonding to the thiol, which raises the energy of the dissociative (1)(n,pi(*)) state, accounts for this behavior.  相似文献

Infrared spectra of large-sized protonated methanol-water mixed clusters, H(+)(MeOH)(m)(H(2)O)(n) (m=1-4, n=4-22), were measured in the OH stretch region. The free OH stretch bands of the water moiety converged to a single peak due to the three-coordinated sites at the sizes of m+n=21, which is the magic number of the protonated water cluster. This is a spectroscopic signature for the formation of the three-dimensional cage structure in the mixed cluster, and it demonstrates the compatibility of a small number of methanol molecules with water in the hydrogen-bonded cage formation. Density functional theory calculations were carried out to examine the relative stability and structures of selected isomers of the mixed clusters. The calculation results supported the microscopic compatibility of methanol and water in the hydrogen-bonded cage development. The authors also found that in the magic number clusters, the surface protonated sites are energetically favored over their internal counterparts and the excess proton prefers to take the form of H(3)O(+) despite the fact that the proton affinity of methanol is greater than that of water.  相似文献

Endohedral CH(4)@(H(2)O)(n) (n = 16, 18, 20, 22, 24) clusters with standard and nonstandard cage configurations containing four-, five-, six-, seven-membered rings were generated by spiral algorithm and were systematically explored using DFT-D methods. The geometries of all isomers were optimized in vacuum and aqueous solution. In vacuum, encapsulation of methane molecules can stabilize the hollow (H(2)O)(n) cage by 2.31~5.44 kcal/mol; but the endohedral CH(4)@(H(2)O)(n) cages are still less stable than the pure (H(2)O)(n) clusters. Aqueous environment could promote the stabilities of the hollow (H(2)O)(n) cages as well as the CH(4)@(H(2)O)(n) clusters, and the CH(4)@(H(2)O)(n) clusters possess larger stabilization energies with regard to the pure (H(2)O)(n) clusters except for n = 24. The lowest energy structures of the CH(4)@(H(2)O)(20) and CH(4)@(H(2)O)(24) cages are identical to the building units in the crystalline sI clathrate hydrate. All of the low-energy cages (including both regular and irregular ones) have large structural similarity and can be connected by "dimer-insertion" operation and Stone-Wales transformation. Our calculation also showed that in the range of cluster size n = 16-24, the relative energies of cage isomers tend to decrease with increasing number of the adjacent pentagons in the oxygen skeleton structures. In addition to the regular endohedral CH(4)@(H(2)O)(20) and CH(4)@(H(2)O)(24) cage structures, some nonstandard CH(4)@(H(2)O)(n) (n = 18, 20, 22, 24) cages have lower energies and might appear during nucleation process of methane hydrate. For the methane molecules in these low-energy cage isomers, we found that the C-H symmetric stretching frequencies show a red-shift trend and the (13)C NMR chemical shifts generally move toward negative values as the cavity size increases. These theoretical results are comparable to the available experimental data and might help experimental identification of the endohedral water cages during nucleation.  相似文献

Infrared photodissociation spectra of Al(+)(CH(3)OH)(n) (n = 1-4) and Al(+)(CH(3)OH)(n)-Ar (n = 1-3) were measured in the OH stretching region, 3000-3800 cm(-1). For n = 1 and 2, sharp absorption bands were observed in the free OH stretching region, all of which were well reproduced by the spectra calculated for the solvated-type geometry with no hydrogen bond. For n = 3 and 4, there were broad vibrational bands in the energy region of hydrogen-bonded OH stretching vibrations, 3000-3500 cm(-1). Energies of possible isomers for the Al(+)(CH(3)OH)(3),4 ions with hydrogen bonds were calculated in order to assign these bands. It was found that the third and fourth methanol molecules form hydrogen bonds with methanol molecules in the first solvation shell, rather than a direct bonding with the Al(+) ion. For the Al(+)(CH(3)OH)(n) clusters with n = 1-4, we obtained no evidence of the insertion reaction, which occurs in Al(+)(H(2)O)(n). One possible explanation of the difference between these two systems is that the potential energy barriers between the solvated and inserted isomers in the Al(+)(CH(3)OH)(n) system is too high to form the inserted-type isomers.  相似文献

The binding energies of the first 5 H2O molecules to c-C3H3+ were determined by equilibrium measurements. The measured binding energies of the hydrated clusters of 9-12 kcal/mol are typical of carbon-based CH+...X hydrogen bonds. The ion solvation with the more polar CH3CN molecules results in stronger bonds consistent with the increased ion-dipole interaction. Ab initio calculations show that the lowest energy isomer of the c-C3H3+(H2O)4 cluster consists of a cyclic water tetramer interacting with the c-C3H3+ ion, which suggests the presence of orientational restraint of the water molecules consistent with the observed large entropy loss. The c-C3H3+ ion is deprotonated by 3 or more H2O molecules, driven energetically by the association of the solvent molecules to form strongly hydrogen bonded (H2O)nH+ clusters. The kinetics of the associative proton transfer (APT) reaction C3H3+ + nH2O --> (H2O)nH+ + C3H2* exhibits an unusually steep negative temperature coefficient of k = cT(-63+/-4) (or activation energy of -37 +/- 1 kcal mol(-1)). The behavior of the C3H3+/water system is exactly analogous to the benzene+*/water system, suggesting that the mechanism, kinetics and large negative temperature coefficients may be general to multibody APT reactions. These reactions can become fast at low temperatures, allowing ionized polycyclic aromatics to initiate ice formation in cold astrochemical environments.  相似文献

Hydration of the atomic oxygen radical anion is studied with computational electronic structure methods, considering (O(-))(H(2)O)(n) clusters and related proton-transferred (OH(-))(OH)(H(2)O)(n)(-)(1) clusters having n = 1-5. A total of 67 distinct local-minimum structures having various interesting hydrogen bonding motifs are obtained and analyzed. On the basis of the most stable form of each type, (O(-))(H(2)O)(n)) clusters are energetically favored, although for n > or = 3, there is considerable overlap in energy between other members of the (O(-))(H(2)O)(n) family and various members of the (OH(-))(OH)(H(2)O)(n)(-)(1) family. In the lower-energy (O(-))(H(2)O)(n) clusters, the hydrogen bonding arrangement about the oxygen anion center tends to be planar, leaving the oxygen anion p-like orbital containing the unpaired electron uninvolved in hydrogen bonding with any water molecule. In (OH(-))(OH)(H(2)O)(n)(-)(1) clusters, on the other hand, nonplanar arrangements are the rule about the anionic oxygen center that accepts hydrogen bonds. No instances are found of OH(-) acting as a hydrogen bond donor. Those OH bonds that form hydrogen bonds to an anionic O(-) or OH(-) center are significantly stretched from their equilibrium value in isolated water or hydroxyl. A quantitative inverse correlation is established for all hydrogen bonds between the amount of the OH bond stretch and the distance to the other oxygen involved in the hydrogen bond.  相似文献

The adsorption of water molecules (H(2)O) on sodium chloride cluster cations and anions was studied at 298 K over a mass range of 100-1200 amu using a custom-built laser desorption ionization reactor and mass spectrometer. Under the conditions used, the cations Na(3)Cl(2)(+) and Na(4)Cl(3)(+) bind up to three water molecules, whereas the larger cations, Na(5)Cl(4)(+) to Na(19)Cl(18)(+), formed hydrates with one or two only. The overall trend is a decrease in hydration with increasing cluster size, with an abrupt drop occurring at the closed-shell Na(14)Cl(13)(+). As compared to the cluster cations, the cluster anions showed almost no adsorption. Among smaller clusters, a weak adsorption of one water molecule was observed for the cluster anions Na(6)Cl(7)(-) and Na(7)Cl(8)(-). In the higher mass region, a substantial adsorption of one water molecule was observed for Na(14)Cl(15)(-). Density functional theory (DFT) computations were carried out for the adsorption of one molecule of H(2)O on the cations Na(n)Cl(n-1)(+), for n = 2-8, and the anions Na(n)Cl(n+1)(-), for n = 1-7. For each ion, the structure of the hydrate, the hydration energy, and the standard-state enthalpy, entropy, and Gibbs energy of hydration at 298 K were computed. In addition, it was useful to compute the distortion energy, defined as the electronic energy lost due to weakening of the Na-Cl bonds upon adsorption of H(2)O. The results show that strong adsorption of a H(2)O molecule occurs for the linear cations only at an end Na ion and for the nonlinear cations only at a corner Na ion bonded to two Cl ions. An unexpected result of the theoretical investigation for the anions is that certain low-energy isomers of Na(6)Cl(7)(-) and Na(7)Cl(8)(-) bind H(2)O strongly enough to produce the observed weak adsorption. The possible implications of these results for the initial hydration of extended NaCl surfaces are discussed.  相似文献

The microsolvation of cobalt and nickel dications by acetonitrile and water is studied by measuring photofragment spectra at 355, 532 and 560-660 nm. Ions are produced by electrospray, thermalized in an ion trap and mass selected by time of flight. The photodissociation yield, products and their branching ratios depend on the metal, cluster size and composition. Proton transfer is only observed in water-containing clusters and is enhanced with increasing water content. Also, nickel-containing clusters are more likely to undergo charge reduction than those with cobalt. The homogeneous clusters with acetonitrile M(2+)(CH(3)CN)(n) (n = 3 and 4) dissociate by simple solvent loss; n = 2 clusters dissociate by electron transfer. Mixed acetonitrile/water clusters display more interesting dissociation dynamics. Again, larger clusters (n = 3 and 4) show simple solvent loss. Water loss is substantially favored over acetonitrile loss, which is understandable because acetonitrile is a stronger ligand due to its higher dipole moment and polarizability. Proton transfer, forming H(+)(CH(3)CN), is observed as a minor channel for M(2+)(CH(3)CN)(2)(H(2)O)(2) and M(2+)(CH(3)CN)(2)(H(2)O) but is not seen in M(2+)(CH(3)CN)(3)(H(2)O). Studies of deuterated clusters confirm that water acts as the proton donor. We previously observed proton loss as the major channel for photolysis of M(2+)(H(2)O)(4). Measurements of the photodissociation yield reveal that four-coordinate Co(2+) clusters dissociate more readily than Ni(2+) clusters whereas for the three-coordinate clusters, dissociation is more efficient for Ni(2+) clusters. For the two-coordinate clusters, dissociation is via electron transfer and the yield is low for both metals. Calculations of reaction energetics, dissociation barriers, and the positions of excited electronic states complement the experimental work. Proton transfer in photolysis of Co(2+)(CH(3)CN)(2)(H(2)O) is calculated to occur via a (CH(3)CN)Co(2+)-OH(-)-H(+)(NCCH(3)) salt-bridge transition state, reducing kinetic energy release in the dissociation.  相似文献

The structure of dibenzo-18-crown-6-ether (DB18C6) and its hydrated clusters has been investigated in a supersonic jet. Two conformers of bare DB18C6 and six hydrated clusters (DB18C6-(H(2)O)(n)) were identified by laser-induced fluorescence, fluorescence-detected UV-UV hole-burning and IR-UV double-resonance spectroscopy. The IR-UV double resonance spectra were compared with the IR spectra obtained by quantum chemical calculations at the B3LYP/6-31+G* level. The two conformers of bare DB18C6 are assigned to "boat" and "chair I" forms, respectively, among which the boat form is dominant. All the six DB18C6-(H(2)O)(n) clusters with n = 1-4 have a boat conformation in the DB18C6 part. The water molecules form a variety of hydration networks in the boat-DB18C6 cavity. In DB18C6-(H(2)O)(1), a water molecule forms the bidentate hydrogen bond with the O atoms adjacent to the benzene rings. In this cluster, the water molecule is preferentially hydrogen bonded from the bottom of boat-DB18C6. In the larger clusters, the hydration networks are developed on the basis of the DB18C6-(H(2)O)(1) cluster.  相似文献

The gas phase reaction of Ni plasma and methanol clusters is studied by the laser ablation-molecular beam(LAMB) method. Five species of clustered complex ions Ni+(CH3OH)n,NiO+(CH3OH)n,H+(CH3OH)n,H3O+(CH3OH)n,CH3O-(CH3OH)n(n≤25)are observed. Interestingly, the species and sizes of the product clusters vary observably when the plasma acts on the different parts of the pulsed methanol molecular beam. When the laser ablated Ni plasma acts on the head and tail of the beam, the metal methanol complex clusters Ni+(CH3OH)n and the oxidation clusters NiO+(CH3OH)n(n=1-15)together with protonated methanol clusters H +(CH3OH)n are domain. While the plasma acts on the middle of the beam,however,Ni+(CH3OH)1-2 and H+(CH3OH)n along with the mixed methanol-water clusters H3O+(CH3OH)n(n=15-25)turn to be the main resulting clusters. By comparing the intensities and the cluster sizes of NiO+(CH3OH)n with Ni+(CH3OH)n,the formation of NiO+(CH3OH)n is contributed to the intracluster demethanation reaction of Ni+(CH3OH)n and evaporation of several methanol molecules. As the H3O+(CH3OH)n is observed only when the plasma acts on the high density part of the beam, and their intensities are only 0. 5% of the protonated methanol molecule,it is concluded that the species are partially due to the recombination of H+(CH3OH)n and water, which come from the plasma-molecule reaction.  相似文献

Here we report ion mobility experiments and theoretical studies aimed at elucidating the identity of the acetylene dimer cation and its hydrated structures. The mobility measurement indicates the presence of more than one isomer for the C(4)H(4)(●+) ion in the cluster beam. The measured average collision cross section of the C(4)H(4)(●+) isomers in helium (38.9 ± 1 A?(2)) is consistent with the calculated cross sections of the four most stable covalent structures calculated for the C(4)H(4)(●+) ion [methylenecyclopropene (39.9 A?(2)), 1,2,3-butatriene (41.1 A?(2)), cyclobutadiene (38.6 A?(2)), and vinyl acetylene (41.1 A?(2))]. However, none of the single isomers is able to reproduce the experimental arrival time distribution of the C(4)H(4)(●+) ion. Combinations of cyclobutadiene and vinyl acetylene isomers show excellent agreement with the experimental mobility profile and the measured collision cross section. The fragment ions obtained by the dissociation of the C(4)H(4)(●+) ion are consistent with the cyclobutadiene structure in agreement with the vibrational predissociation spectrum of the acetylene dimer cation (C(2)H(2))(2)(●+) [R. A. Relph, J. C. Bopp, J. R. Roscioli, and M. A. Johnson, J. Chem. Phys. 131, 114305 (2009)]. The stepwise hydration experiments show that dissociative proton transfer reactions occur within the C(4)H(4)(●+)(H(2)O)(n) clusters with n ≥ 3 resulting in the formation of protonated water clusters. The measured binding energy of the C(4)H(4)(●+)H(2)O cluster, 38.7 ± 4 kJ/mol, is in excellent agreement with the G3(MP2) calculated binding energy of cyclobutadiene(●+)·H(2)O cluster (41 kJ/mol). The binding energies of the C(4)H(4)(●+)(H(2)O)(n) clusters change little from n = 1 to 5 (39-48 kJ/mol) suggesting the presence of multiple binding sites with comparable energies for the water-C(4)H(4)(●+) and water-water interactions. A significant entropy loss is measured for the addition of the fifth water molecule suggesting a structure with restrained water molecules, probably a cyclic water pentamer within the C(4)H(4)(●+)(H(2)O)(5) cluster. Consequently, a drop in the binding energy of the sixth water molecule is observed suggesting a structure in which the sixth water molecule interacts weakly with the C(4)H(4)(●+)(H(2)O)(5) cluster presumably consisting of a cyclobutadiene(●+) cation hydrogen bonded to a cyclic water pentamer. The combination of ion mobility, dissociation, and hydration experiments in conjunction with the theoretical calculations provides strong evidence that the (C(2)H(2))(2)(●+) ions are predominantly present as the cyclobutadiene cation with some contribution from the vinyl acetylene cation.  相似文献

Three polynuclear thorium(IV) molecular complexes have been synthesized under ambient conditions from reactions of an amorphous Th precipitate, obtained via hydrolysis, with carboxylate functionalized ligands. The structures of Th(6)(OH)(4)O(4)(H(2)O)(6)(HCO(2))(12)·nH(2)O (1), Th(6)(OH)(4)O(4)(H(2)O)(6)(CH(3)CO(2))(12)·nH(2)O (2), Th(6)(OH)(4)O(4)(H(2)O)(6)(ClCH(2)CO(2))(12)·4H(2)O (3) each consist of a hexanuclear Th core wherein six 9-coordinate Th(IV) cations are bridged by four μ(3)-hydroxo and four μ(3)-oxo groups. Each Th(IV) center is additionally coordinated to one bound "apical" water molecule and four oxygen atoms from bridging carboxylate functionalized organic acid units. "Decoration" of the cationic [Th(6)(μ(3)-O)(4)(μ(3)-OH)(4)](12+) cores by anionic shells of R-COO(-) ligands (R = H, CH(3), or CH(2)Cl) terminates the oligomers and results in the formation of discrete, neutral molecular clusters. Electronic structure calculations at the density functional theory level predicted that the most energetically favorable positions for the protons on the hexanuclear core result in the cluster with the highest symmetry with the protons separated as much as possible. The synthesis, structure, and characterization of the materials are reported.  相似文献

The roles of hydrogen bonds in the solvation of an excess electron and a lithium atom in water hexamer cluster at 150 K have been studied by means of ab initio molecular dynamics simulations. It is found that the hydrogen bonded structures of (H(2)O)(6)(-) and Li(H(2)O)(6) clusters are very different from each other and they dynamically evolve from one conformer to other along their simulation trajectories. The populations of the single acceptor, double acceptor, and free type water molecules are found to be significantly high unlike that in pure water clusters. Free hydrogens of these type of water molecules primarily capture the unbound electron density in these clusters. It is found that the binding motifs of the free electron evolve with time and the vertical detachment energy of (H(2)O)(6)(-) and vertical ionization energy of Li(H(2)O)(6) also change with time. Assignments of the observed peaks in vibrational power spectra are done, and we found direct correlations between the time-averaged population of water molecules in different hydrogen bonding states and the spectral features. The dynamical aspects of these clusters have also been studied through calculations of time correlations of instantaneous stretch frequencies of OH modes which are obtained from the simulation trajectories through a time series analysis.  相似文献
