The nonisothermal crystallization kinetics of poly(propylene) (PP) and poly(propylene)/organic‐montmorillonite (PP/Mont) nanocomposite were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) with various cooling rates. The Avrami analysis modified by previous research was used to describe the nonisothermal crystallization process of PP and PP/Mont nanocomposite very well. The values of half‐time and Zc showed that the crystallization rate increased with increasing cooling rates for both PP and PP/Mont nanocomposite, but the crystallization rate of PP/Mont nanocomposite was faster than that of PP at a given cooling rate. The activation energies were estimated by the Kissinger method, and the values were 189.4 and 155.7 kJ/mol for PP and PP/Mont nanocomposite, respectively. PP/Mont nanocomposite could be easily fabricated as original PP, although the addition of organomontmorillonite might accelerate the overall nonisothermal crystallization process. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The precursor of LiNiPO4 was synthesized by solid-state reaction at low-heating temperature using LiOH·H2O and NH4NiPO4·H2O as raw materials. LiNiPO4 was obtained by calcining the precursor. Based on the advanced isoconversional procedure and the distributed activation energy model (DAEM), the activation energies calculated indicated that the thermal process involved two stages which stage II was a kinetically complex process, but stage I was single-step process. The most probable mechanism for the stage I is random nucleation and subsequent growth. DAEM and nonlinear model-fitting method were applied to study the stage II of decomposition process of the precursor. The distributions of activation energy, f(E a) and values of preexponential factor A of the stage II of the thermal decomposition of precursor were obtained on the basis of DAEM. The results of nonlinear model-fitting method showed the most probable mechanisms of the parallel reactions for stage II are chemical reaction and nucleation.  相似文献

This paper reports results on the crystallization kinetics of 35.5CaO–7.25La2O3–57.25B2O3 glass under nonisothermal conditions based on the studies carried out from the differential thermal analysis upon using various well-established models. The crystalline phases formed during the optimized ceramization process have been confirmed from the X-ray diffraction. The activation energies of the first (formation of CaLaB7O13) and second (formation of LaBO3) crystallization events have been estimated using the conventional methods of Kissinger, Augis–Bennett, Ozawa, and Matusita, and the results are found to be in good agreement with each other. The Avrami exponents that are determined by these models for the crystallization of CaLaB7O13 and LaBO3 are found to be in the range of (1.81–2.35) and (4.03–4.65), respectively. This indicates that the formation of CaLaB7O13 is dominated by a surface crystallization, whereas LaBO3 is formed by three-dimensional bulk crystallization with an increased rate of nucleation. This observation is further validated by microstructural investigation, which shows the formation of CaLaB7O13 phase as a surface layer and a bulk crystallization of LaBO3 in optimally ceramized samples.  相似文献

The nonisothermal cold crystallization behavior of intercalated polylactide (PLA)/clay nanocomposites (PLACNs) was studied using differential scanning calorimetry, polarized optical microscope, X‐ray diffractometer, dynamic mechanical thermal analysis, and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer. The results show that both the cold crystallization temperature (Tcc) and melting point (Tm) of PLA matrix decreases monotonously with increasing of clay loadings, accompanied by the decreasing degree of crystallinity (Xc%) at the low heating rates (≤5 °C/min). However, the Xc% of PLACNs presents a remarkable increase at the high heating rate of 10 °C/min in contrast to that of neat PLA. The crystallization kinetics was then analyzed by the Avrami, Jezioney, Ozawa, Mo, Kissinger and Lauritzen–Hoffman kinetic models. It can be concluded that at the low heating rate, the cold crystallization of both the neat PLA and nanocomposites proceeds by regime III kinetics. The nucleation effect of clay promote the crystallization to some extent, while the impeding effect of clay results in the decrease of crystallization rate with increasing of clay loadings. At the high heating rate of 10 °C/min, crystallization proceeds mainly by regime II kinetics. Thus, the formation of much more incomplete crystals in the PLACNs with high clay loadings due to the dominant multiple nucleations mechanism in regime II, may have primary contribution to the lower crystallization kinetics, also as a result to the higher degree of crystallinity and lower melting point in contrast to that of neat PLA. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The nonisothermal melt crystallization behavior of poly(trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT) was investigated using the DSC technique. PTT peak exothermic crystallization temperature was found to move to lower temperatures as the cooling rate was increased. The modified Avrami equation exponent, n, was 4 when the cooling rates were between 5 and 15 °C/min, indicating a thermal nucleation and a three-dimensional spherical growth mechanism. When the cooling rate was increased to 25 °C/min, n gradually decreased to near 3, implying the nucleation mechanism changed to an athermal mode. PTT nonisothermal crystallization behavior could also be analyzed using the Ozawa equation and the combined equations of Ozawa and Avrami with very good fit of the data.PTT spherulite morphologies and the sign of the birefringence depended strongly on the spherulite's growth temperature. When the growth temperature was decreased from 222 to 170 °C, the spherulite changed from a saturation-type dendritic morphology to one with a colorful banded texture; the sign of the birefringence also changed in the following order: from a weakly positive spherulite → mixed spherulite → weakly negative spherulite → negative spherulite → positive spherulite → negative spherulite → positive spherulite.  相似文献

The nonisothermal cold‐crystallization kinetics and subsequent melting behavior of poly(trimethylene terephthalate) (PTT) were investigated with differential scanning calorimetry. The Avrami, Tobin, and Ozawa equations were applied to describe the kinetics of the crystallization process. Both the Avrami and Tobin crystallization rate parameters increased with the heating rate. The Ozawa crystallization rate increased with the temperature. The ability of PTT to crystallize from the glassy state at a unit heating rate was determined with Ziabicki's kinetic crystallizability index, which was found to be about 0.89. The effective energy barrier describing the nonisothermal cold‐crystallization process of PTT was estimated by the differential isoconversional method of Friedman and was found to range between about 114.5 and 158.8 kJ mol?1. In its subsequent melting, PTT exhibited double‐melting behavior for heating rates lower than or equal to 10 °C min?1 and single‐melting behavior for heating rates greater than or equal to 12.5 °C min?1. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Kinetics of nonisothermal crystallization of poly(β-hydroxybutyrate) from melt and glassy states were performed by differential scanning calorimetry under various heating and cooling rates. Several different analysis methods were used to describe the process of nonisothermal crystallization. The results showed that both Avrami treatment and a new method developed by combining the Avrami equation and Ozawa equation could describe this system very well. However, Ozawa analysis failed. By using an evaluation method, proposed by Kissinger, activation energies have been evaluated to be 92.6 kJ/mol and 64.6 kJ/mol for crystallization from the glassy and melt state, respectively. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The kinetics of the intermediates in unterminated polymerization reactions were studied. It was found that in a first-order initiation (A) all intermediates accumulate monotonically. In a second-order initiation (B) the first intermediates pass through a maximum, whereas the later ones strictly accumulate. An initiator-started polymerization can follow course A or course B, depending on the initial ratio of the concentrations of the initiator and monomer.  相似文献

The nonisothermal crystallization kinetics was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry for the nylon 6/graphene composites prepared by in situ polymerization. The Avrami theory modified by Jeziorny, Ozawa equation, and Mo equation was used to describe the nonisothermal crystallization kinetics. The analysis based on the Avrami theory modified by Jeziorny shows that, at lower cooling rates (at 5, 10, and 20 K/min), the nylon 6/graphene composites have lower crystallization rate than pure nylon 6. However, at higher cooling rates (at 40 K/min), the nylon 6/graphene composites have higher crystallization rate than pure nylon 6. The values of Avrami exponent m and the cooling crystallization function F(T) from Ozawa plots indicate that the mode of the nucleation and growth at initial stage of the nonisothermal crystallization may be as follows: two‐dimensional (2D), then one‐dimensional (1D) for all samples at 5–10 °C/min; three‐dimensional (3D) or complicated than 3D, then 2D and 1D at 10–20 and 20–40 °C/min. The good linearity of the Mo plots indicated that the combined approach could successfully describe the crystallization processes of the nylon 6 and nylon 6/graphene composites. The activation energies (ΔE) of the nylon 6/graphene composites, determined by Kissinger method, were lower than those of pure nylon 6. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Recent advances in Earth and satellite based observations of molecules in interstellar environments and in planetary atmospheres have highlighted the lack of information regarding many important gas-phase formation mechanisms involving neutral species at low temperatures. Whilst significant progress has been made towards a better understanding of radical-molecule reactions in these regions, the inherent difficulties involved in the investigation of reactions between two unstable radical species have hindered progress in this area. This perspective article provides a brief review of the most common techniques applied to study radical-radical reactions below room temperature, before outlining the developments in our laboratory that have allowed us to extend such measurements to temperatures relevant to astrochemical environments. These developments will be discussed with particular emphasis on our recent investigations of the reactions of atomic nitrogen with diatomic radicals.  相似文献

Kinetics of the reaction of O3 with single olefins and olefin-pairs have been investigated. The reactions were carried out by passing O3 into a solution of the olefin(s). Most relative rate data gave the best fit to a zero order rate law, especially in cases where olefin consumption was extensive. The results are interpreted in terms of a reversible complex.  相似文献

Many chemical reactions involve a change in spin-state and are formally forbidden. This article summarises a number of previously published applications showing that a form of Transition State Theory (TST) can account for the kinetics of these reactions. New calculations for the emblematic spin-forbidden reaction HC + N(2) are also reported. The observed reactivity is determined by two factors. The first is the critical energy required for reaction to occur, which in spin-forbidden reactions is often defined by the relative energy of the Minimum Energy Crossing Point (MECP) between potential energy surfaces corresponding to the different spin states. The second factor is the probability of hopping from one surface to the other in the vicinity of the crossing region, which is largely defined by the spin-orbit coupling matrix element between the two electronic wavefunctions. The spin-forbidden transition state theory takes both factors into account and gives good results. The shortcomings of the theory, which are largely analogous to those of standard TST, are discussed. Finally, it is shown that in cases where the surface-hopping probability is low, the kinetics of spin-forbidden reactions will be characterised by unusually unfavourable entropies of activation. As a consequence, reactions involving a spin-state change can be expected to compete poorly with spin-allowed reactions at high temperatures (or energies).  相似文献

Nonisothermal crystallization kinetics and melting behavior of bimodal-medium-density- polyethylene (BMDPE) and the blends of BMDPE/LDPE were studied using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) at various scanning rates. The Avrami analysis modified by Jeziorny and a method developed by Mo were employed to describe the nonisothermal crystallization process of BMDPE. The BMDPE DSC data were analyzed by the theory of Ozawa. Kinetic parameters such as the Avrami exponent (n), the kinetic crystallization rate constant (Zc), the peak temperatures (Tp) and the half-time of crystallization (t1/2) etc. were determined at various scanning rates. The appearance of double melting peaks and the double crystallization peaks in the heating and cooling DSC curves of BMDPE/LDPE blends indicated that the BMDPE and LDPE could crystallize respectively.  相似文献

The article deals with the melting and nonisothermal crystallization behavior of neat poly (phenylene sulphide) (PPS) and its composites with a thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer (TLCP)—Vectra A950, prepared by melt mixing and probed by differential scanning calorimetry. The various macrokinetic models namely, the Ozawa, the modified Avrami, the Tobin, and the Mo models were applied to describe the crystallization kinetics under nonisothermal conditions. The kinetic crystallizabilty of PPS/TLCP composites calculated using the approach of Ziabicki varies depending on these two composite composition‐induced effects. Similarly Mo model predicts that to obtain a higher degree of crystallizabilty for PPS/TLCP composites, a higher cooling rate should be used. The effective energy barrier based on the differential isoconversional method of Friedman is found to be an increasing function of relative degree of melt conversion. The effect is explained in terms of nucleation theory proposed by Wunderlich to crystallization of polymers. The Lauritzen–Hoffman parameters are estimated using G = 1/t0.5 effective activation energy equation proposed by Vyazovkin and Sbirrazzuoli. The Kg values estimated from latter equations are more comparable with values obtained using isothermal crystallization data than 1/t0.5 method. Furthermore, the kinetic analysis using this equation shows a regime transition from regime II to regime III for 100/00, 90/10, 80/20 PPS/TLCP composites, basically attributed to reduced mobility of PPS chains in composites. This regime II to III transition is accompanied by a morphological transition from defective spherulitic sheaf‐like structures to ordered sheaf‐like structures. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The thermal and kinetic aspects of gas phase decomposition reactions can be extremely complex due to a large number of parameters, a variety of possible intermediates, and an overlap in thermal decomposition traces. The experimental determination of the activation energies is particularly difficult when several possible reaction pathways coexist in the thermal decomposition. Ab initio calculations intended to provide an interpretation of the experiment are often of little help if they produce only the activation barriers and ignore the kinetics of the decomposition process. To overcome this ambiguity, a theoretical study of a complete picture of gas phase thermo-decomposition, including reaction energies, activation barriers, and reaction rates, is illustrated with the example of the β-octahydro-1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocine (HMX) molecule by means of quantum-chemical calculations. We study three types of major decomposition reactions characteristic of nitramines: the HONO elimination, the NONO rearrangement, and the N-NO(2) homolysis. The reaction rates were determined using the conventional transition state theory for the HONO and NONO decompositions and the variational transition state theory for the N-NO(2) homolysis. Our calculations show that the HMX decomposition process is more complex than it was previously believed to be and is defined by a combination of reactions at any given temperature. At all temperatures, the direct N-NO(2) homolysis prevails with the activation barrier at 38.1 kcal/mol. The nitro-nitrite isomerization and the HONO elimination, with the activation barriers at 46.3 and 39.4 kcal/mol, respectively, are slow reactions at all temperatures. The obtained conclusions provide a consistent interpretation for the reported experimental data.  相似文献
