In this article, we prove a conjecture of J. G. Thompson for the finite simple group 2 D n (q). More precisely, we show that every finite group G with the property Z(G) = 1 and N(G) = N(2 D n (q)) is necessarily isomorphic to 2 D n (q). In this paper, we classify those finite groups with exactly two supercharacter theories. We show that the solvable groups with two supercharacter theories are ?3 and S3. We also show that the only nonsolvable group with two supercharacter theories is Sp(6,2). 相似文献

We introduce a principle of local collection for compositional truth predicates and show that it is arithmetically conservative over the classically compositional theory of truth. This axiom states that upon restriction to formulae of any syntactic complexity, the resulting predicate satisfies full collection. In particular, arguments using collection for the truth predicate applied to sentences occurring in any given (code of a) proof do not suffice to show that the conclusion of that proof is true, in stark contrast to the case of the induction scheme.We analyse various further results concerning end-extensions of models of compositional truth and the collection scheme for the compositional truth predicate. 相似文献

R. Shore proved that every recursively enumerable (r. e.) set can be split into two (disjoint) nowhere simple sets. Splitting theorems play an important role in recursion theory since they provide information about the lattice ? of all r. e. sets. Nowhere simple sets were further studied by D. Miller and J. Remmel, and we generalize some of their results. We characterize r. e. sets which can be split into two (non) effectively nowhere simple sets, and r. e. sets which can be split into two r. e. non-nowhere simple sets. We show that every r. e. set is either the disjoint union of two effectively nowhere simple sets or two noneffectively nowhere simple sets. We characterize r. e. sets whose every nontrivial splitting is into nowhere simple sets, and r. e. sets whose every nontrivial splitting is into effectively nowhere simple sets. R. Shore proved that for every effectively nowhere simple set A, the lattice L* (A) is effectively isomorphic to ?*, and that there is a nowhere simple set A such that L*(A) is not effectively isomorphic to ?*. We prove that every nonzero r. e. Turing degree contains a noneffectively nowhere simple set A with the lattice L*(A) effectively isomorphic to ?*. In this article, we study simple transitive 2-representations of certain 2-subcategories of the 2-category of projective functors over a star algebra. We show that in the simplest case, which is associated to the Dynkin type A2, simple transitive 2-representations are classified by cell 2-representations. In the general case we conjecture that there exist many simple transitive 2-representations which are not cell 2-representations and provide some evidence for our conjecture. 相似文献
