In this study, we characterized Cerenkov radiation generated in polystyrene (PS)- and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA)-based plastic optical fibers (POFs) to select an adequate optical fiber for producing Cerenkov radiation. To determine the relationship between the absorbed dose and the intensity of Cerenkov radiation, we calculated the energy depositions of photon beams and fluxes of electrons inducing Cerenkov radiation using the Monte Carlo N-Particle eXtended code. Also, intensities of Cerenkov radiation generated in PS- and PMMA-based POFs were measured as functions of dose rate and monitor unit. At last, therapeutic photon beams-induced Cerenkov radiation in PS- and PMMA-based POFs was measured according to depths of solid water phantom.  相似文献

The problem relating to the synchrotron radiation of a charged current-carrying thread in a uniaxial transparent crystal is considered here using the Sitenko-Kolomensky method. The formulas for the intensity of the synchrotron radiation and the limiting values of the formulas giving the intensity of the Cerenkov radiation of a thread moving uniformly and rectilinearly parallel to the optical axis of a crystal have been derived.  相似文献

A new way in electron beam emittance measurement with Cerenkov radiation "double imaging" method is proposed in this paper. In the standard emittance measurements with optical diagnostics such as Cerenkov radiation, OTR (Optical Transition Radiation), fluorescence screen or BMP (beam profile monitor) etc., the emittance is indirectly calculated through quadrupole-scanning technique, with the prior ssumption that the beam phase space density distribution is ellipse, which will certainly induce systematic error when the beam profile is quite irregular or the space-charge effects can not be omitted. In proposed method, the Cerenkov radiation pass through a 1-meter focal-length thin convex lens, and a CCD camera is used to capture two images of Cerenkov radiation at the focal plane and at the image plane of the lens respectively. Then, with image processing technique, we acquire the angular divergence information of the electron beam from the image of the focal plane and the radial distribution information from the image of the image plane, which we call Cerenkov radiation "double imaging" method. Therefore, the emittance can be directly attained according to the definition of the RMS emittance. By this method, we can measure the actual phase space distributions without making any prior assumptions about the density distributions. Compared with other general measurements, this "double imaging" method has advantages of simpler equipment, higher precision and wider application. This paper also presents the computer simulation results of emittance measurement on the DC-SC (DC-Superconducting) photocathode injector of PKU-SCAF (Peking University Superconducting Accelerator Facility) being built at Peking University.  相似文献

切伦科夫辐射“双成像法”测量电子束发射度   总被引:5,自引:0,他引:5  
利用切伦科夫辐射,OTR或荧光靶等光学诊断方法进行发射度测量,国内外绝大部分实验是用CCD相机观测电子束打靶产生的光斑,变化四极透镜的磁场梯度,应用“三梯度法”计算出发射度.文中提出了一种新的“双成像法”测量方法,使切伦科夫辐射光通过一长焦距的消色差薄透镜,分别在焦平面和像平面获取图像.通过图像处理,前者可分析出电子束散角分布,后者可分析出电子束径向分布,从而直接得到均方根发射度.该方法对束流相空间和电荷密度分布无需假设,无需借助“三梯度法”,较其他常规测量方法具有实验装置更简便、测量精度更高和适用性更广等优点.文中给出了该测量方法对北京大学DC?SC光阴极注入器的发射度测量进行计算机模拟实验的结果和分析.  相似文献

Diffusive radiation is a new type of radiation predicted to occur in randomly inhomogeneous media due to the multiple scattering of pseudophotons. This theoretical effect is now observed experimentally. The radiation is generated by the passage of electrons of energy 200 KeV-2.2 MeV through a random stack of films in the visible light region. The radiation intensity increases resonantly provided the Cerenkov condition is satisfied for the average dielectric constant of the medium. The observed angular dependence and electron resonance energy are in agreement with the theoretical predictions. These observations open a road to application of diffusive radiation in particle detection, astrophysics, soft-x-ray generation, etc.  相似文献

The transformation of the angular momentum of an optical eddy in a weakly directing perturbed optical fiber is analyzed within the spin-orbit operator representation. The case of fibers with anisotropy of the core and cladding materials and the case of fibers with an elliptic cross section are considered. The spectrum of polarization corrections to the scalar propagation constant is determined for fibers of two types. For both the strongly anisotropic and elliptic fibers, the spin angular momentum of the linearly polarized LV eddy is suppressed and the orbital angular momentum is characterized by simple oscillations with a beating length dependent only on the spin-orbit parameter of an unperturbed fiber. The orbital and spin angular momenta of the circularly polarized CV eddy in the anisotropic fiber interchange in the elliptic fiber. The orbital angular momentum can be completely restored in the strongly anisotropic fiber, whereas only the spin angular momentum is completely restored in the elliptic fiber.  相似文献

介绍了一种新型被动综合孔径成像探测方法:视场辐射信号被接收和放大后,通过电光幅度调制将其幅度和相位信息加载到光波上,经光纤传输在末端形成阵列,通过光学系统直接成像,将视场实时恢复出来.该方法可实现工作在微波、毫米波和太赫兹波段的高分辨力实时成像探测的目的.深入分析了电光调制器在综合孔径成像探测中的应用,建立电光调制模型,讨论了在小信号调制下的电光幅度调制近似理论.通过数值计算与仿真分析,得到综合孔径成像探测中电光调制器的调制信号强度限制的有关结论.结果表明,利用上变频电光调制技术和光信息处理,所得到的成像仿真图的半峰全宽和信噪比性能都优于传统的基于下变频技术的成像仿真结果.  相似文献

We demonstrate a method of generating short pulses at 1350 nm by exciting Cerenkov radiation in a higher-order-mode fiber with a 1064 nm femtosecond fiber laser. We measure a 106 fs, 0.66 nJ output pulse. Cerenkov radiation in fibers allows for energy transfer between a soliton and a dispersive wave, providing an effective and engineerable platform to shift the wavelength of a femtosecond source. With appropriate design of the higher-order-mode fiber, this method of generating short pulses at 1350 nm can be extended to other wavelengths and to higher pulse energies.  相似文献

We demonstrate soliton self-frequency shift of more than 12% of the optical frequency in a higher-order mode solid, silica-based fiber below 1300nm. This new class of fiber shows great promise for supporting Raman-shifted solitons below 1300nm in intermediate energy regimes of 1 to 10nJ that cannot be reached by index-guided photonic crystal fibers or air-core photonic bandgap fibers. By changing the input pulse energy of 200fs pulses from 1.36 to 1.63nJ we observe Raman-shifted solitons between 1064 and 1200nm with up to 57% power conversion efficiency and compressed output pulse widths less than 50fs. Furthermore, due to the dispersion characteristics of the HOM fiber, we observe redshifted Cerenkov radiation in the normal dispersion regime for appropriately energetic input pulses.  相似文献

To theoretically explore the feasibility of neutron dose characterized by Cerenkov photons, the relationship between Cerenkov photons and neutron dose in a water phantom was quantified using the Monte Carlo toolkit Geant4. Results showed that the ratio of the neutron dose deposited by secondary electrons above Cerenkov threshold energy to the total neutron dose is approximately a constant for monoenergetic neutrons from 0.01 eV to 100 eV. With the initial neutron beam energy from 0.01 eV to 100 eV, the number of Cerenkov photons has a good correlation with the total neutron dose along the central axis of the water phantom. The changes of neutron energy spectrum and mechanism analysis also explored at different depths. And the ratio of total neutron dose to the intensity of Cerenkov photons is independent of neutron energy for neutrons from 0.01 eV to 100 eV. These findings indicate that Cerenkov radiation also has potential in the application of neutron dose measurement in some specific fields.  相似文献

Recent results and used way of tissue optical properties measurements in vitro with laser goniophotometer are presented. The optical properties were obtained on the basis of an indirect technique using solution of the radiative transfer equation, which relate the optical parameters of tissue with the measured parameters of reflected and transmitted radiation. The angular patterns of reflected and transmitted radiation by optically thick saline-soaked samples of tumor tissue, namely, mammary fibroadenoma, were measured at the wavelength of 0.63 μm, and the measurement data were inverted to find the absorption and extinction coefficients and the parameters of the phase function of these tumor samples. Obtained values of the optical parameters have been found to be of the same order of magnitude as the earlier reported data for similar tumor samples.  相似文献

Radiation induced losses and the recovery behavior of several optical fibers have been determined by in situ steady state and by pulse measurements in a nuclear reactor. Agreement with the literature was found for Suprasil and Fibropsil core fibers in ionizing radiation, but our results on Suprasil-W core fibers show an appreciably higher radiation hardness of this material than reported elsewhere. Additionally, increased long term losses were observed, when the mixed radiation flux contained a noticeable content of neutrons.  相似文献

The optical parameters of homogeneous, isotropic, and fluorescent thin films are determined by comparing measured with calculated angular intensity distributions of the s- and p-polarized light emitted into the substrate. The method also yields information about the multipole nature of the emitted radiation. The theory is presented for electric and magnetic dipole transitions. For extremely thin layers of optical thickness n0d0 ? λ/8 (where λ is the emission wavelength) analytic expressions for the angular intensity distributions are given. For between 25–30 nm thick evaporated layers of an europium-benzoyltrifluoro-acetone- chelate the refractive index was determined to be n0 = 1.57 at λ = 612 nm. The fluorescent light emitted by these layers in an about 6 nm wide band centered at λ = 612 nm is emitted by randomly oriented electric dipoles.  相似文献

The Cerenkov radiation of an electron moving parallel to a dielectric boundary is calculated usingToraldo di Francia's expansion of the electron field in a set of evanescent waves. The radiation field is composed of these waves which are refracted at the boundary. In contrast to a previous treatment of this problem byLinhart it is shown that in addition to the TM-waves TE -waves are produced of comparable energy.
