We report for the first time (to our knowledge) a 1053 nm Nd:LiYF4 (Nd:YLF) laser by directly pumping into the upper lasing level with a tunable Ti:sapphire laser. The results obtained for direct upper laser level pumping at 872 and 880 nm of Nd:YLF were compared with traditional 806 nm pump band excitation. Highly efficient 1053 nm continuous-wave (CW) laser emission under direct pumping at 880 nm in an 8 mm thick, 1.0 at % Nd:YLF crystal is obtained. The slope efficiency is improved from 39.1% for traditional pumping at 806 nm to 63.9% for direct pumping at 880 nm.  相似文献

Experimental data for cw lasing from a compact solid-state laser based on a neodymium-doped calcium-gallium-germanium-garnet crystal (Ca3Ga2Ge3O12:Nd3+) at a wavelength of 1.06 μm in the case of intense diode pumping are reported. The laser output reaches 0.7 W for a cavity 15 mm long and an active element 1 mm thick. It is shown that the output power is limited by a thermal lens placed in the active element.  相似文献

Features of the generation of laser lines upon the diode pumping of Er:BaY2F8 crystals are studied. Blue, violet, and UV laser lines are most efficiently generated via the nonlinear frequency self-addition of 541 and 553 nm lines of Er3+ radiation with the corresponding IR line of Er3+ for Er:BaY2F8 crystals pumped by a laser diode with a wavelength of 972 nm.  相似文献

A comparative study of the flash-lamp pumped laser performance of standard b-grown Nd:KGW and Nd:KGW grown for propagation along the optical axis Ng is presented. The results show that, in comparison with b-grown crystal, the Ng-grown Nd:KGW is very promising for use at high repetition flash-lamp pumping rates. With the same laser cavity configuration, the Ng-grown Nd:KGW can operate at an average flash-lamp input power of at least 1.4 kW, while the b-cut one ceases lasing at average flash-lamp input power of ∼0.5 kW. The reason for this is that the thermal lens induced in the Ng-oriented Nd:KGW rod under pump radiation is relatively weak, nearly spherical and positive, whereas the b-grown Nd:KGW rod acts as a quite weak positive lens for radiation with radial polarization, and as a much stronger negative lens for tangentially polarized radiation. We report the experimental observation of random wavelength emission and intensity-dependent central-wavelength shift in a diode-pumped Yb3+-doped Y2O3 ceramic laser. We show experimentally that, like conventional lasers, the emission of the laser has fixed well-defined transverse modes; however, its instantaneous emission wavelengths change randomly with time. The central wavelength of the laser emission also shifts with the intracavity light intensity. A model was developed to describe the spectral behavior of Yb3+-doped lasers. We show that the observed random wavelength emission and central lasing wavelength shift of the laser could be well explained based on the strong reabsorption of light in the gain medium. Nd0.03Lu2.871Gd0.099Al5O12 (Nd:LuGdAG) crystal was grown by the Czochralski method. The absorption, fluorescence spectra and fluorescence lifetime of Nd:LuGdAG crystal at room temperature were investigated for the first time. We reported the continuous-wave (CW) Nd:LuGdAG laser operation under diode pumping. Output power of 1.43 W at 1064 nm was achieved with a slope efficiency of 34.1%. All the results show that Nd:LuGdAG crystal is a promising laser material.  相似文献

Stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) has been observed for the first time in a tetragonal LiYbF4 crystal. The recorded Stokes and anti-Stokes components of χ(3) nonlinear lasing are attributed to the two SRS-active phonon modes with ωSRS1 ~ 325 cm–1 and ωSRS2 ~ 432 cm–1 of this crystal.  相似文献

In this paper, a detailed theoretical analysis of the second-harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency as a function of polarization ratio and crystal length of CsLiB6O10 (CLBO) in the phase matching using a computer simulation is presented. The SHG efficiency was as high as 80% when the pumping radiation was a plane wave. The efficiency is 65% and 80% for the pumping waves of type I and type II Gaussian beams, respectively. An important result is that the phase matching of type II is perfectly adopted in the SHG experiment with CLBO.  相似文献

Optical properties of Ho3+-doped Lu3Al5O12 and (Lu,Y)3Al5O12 crystals were investigated and compared. Substitution of Y for Lu in the host garnet Lu3Al5O12 results in broad absorption and emission spectra, and improvements in the laser behavior of Ho3+. Pumped by Tm:fiber laser, a maximum output power of 5.02 and 5.73 W of Ho-doped Lu3Al5O12 and (Lu,Y)3Al5O12 have been obtained, respectively. The center lasing wavelength are 2124.5 and 2123.0 nm for Lu3Al5O12 and (Lu,Y)3Al5O12, respectively.  相似文献

We describe the output performances of the 928 nm 4 F 3/24 I 9/2 transition in Nd:CLNGG under diode-laser pumping. An end-pumped Nd:CLNGG crystal yielded 1.3 W of continuous-wave output power for 17.8 W of absorbed pump power. The slope efficiency with respect to the absorbed pump power was 11.2%. Furthermore, with 17.8 W of diode pump power and the frequency-doubling crystal LiB3O5 (LBO), a maximum output power of 260 mW in the blue spectral range at 464 nm has been achieved. The blue output power stability over 4 h is better than 3.2%.  相似文献

The photoluminescence of Er3+ ions in a SiO2 matrix containing silicon nanocrystals 3.5 nm in diameter is studied under resonant and nonresonant pulsed pumping with pulses 5 ns in duration. The effective erbium excitation cross section under pulsed pumping, σeff = 8.7 × 10?17 cm2, is close to that for nanocrystals. Comparison of the erbium photoluminescence intensity obtained for a SiO2 matrix with and without nanocrystals made it possible to determine the absolute concentration of optically active nanocrystals capable of exciting erbium ions, the concentration of optically active erbium, and the average number of erbium ions excited by one nanocrystal. The study revealed that excitation transfer from one erbium ion to another is a relatively slow process, which accounts for the low efficiency of erbium ion excitation under pulsed pumping in a SiO2 matrix containing silicon nanocrystals.  相似文献

Boiling occurs in a solution of oxygen and fullerenes in CCl4 upon optical pumping of C60 upon the fast appearance of incandescent fullerenes in cold solvent. Upon single-photon absorption, a spherical zone of the critical state of CCl4 is formed within 5 ns (with a diameter of 22–25 nm, P cr ∼ 45 atm, and T cr ∼ 556 K). This spherical zone (gas-bubble nucleus) expands to a diameter of ∼100–400 nm for 2–5 ns. If the external pressure (natural or artificial) is rapidly released, the bubble accelerates and emerges into a vacuum chamber within 0.7–25 μs (the length of the passage is 0.1–5 cm depending on the construction of the singlet oxygen generator). We note that singlet oxygen appears 50 ns after the absorption of a photon by fullerene (i.e., inside of the almost formed gas bubble that only begins to emerge from the liquid to a low-pressure gas region).  相似文献

We have experimentally demonstrated a diode-pumped passively mode-locked Nd:CaNb2O6 laser for the first time to our best knowledge. With a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM) as a passive mode locker, the laser generated stable mode-locked pulses with pulse duration of 17.3 ps and repetition rate of 88.4 MHz. With a singe-emitter laser diode pumping, the maximum average output power of the mode-locked laser was 0.843 W, with a slope efficiency of 23%. The experimental results show the Nd:CaNb2O6 crystal is a promising laser gain medium for picosecond pulse generation.  相似文献

We have measured absorption of emission from a TEA CO2 laser, lasing on hot band lines, in pure CS2 and a mixture of CS2 with air, and we have determined the optimal lines for optical excitation. Numerical modeling has shown that as the peak intensity of the pump radiation is increased, we observe absorption saturation, the extent of which decreases as the pressure increases. The major factor responsible for absorption saturation is the “rotational bottleneck” effect. A saturated-absorption spectrum of SiF4 gas, free of Doppler broadening, has been recorded in the lasing range of a low-pressure CO2 laser. Multiplets of superfine structure are observed, which are due to the tunnel transitions between the states of molecular rotation around equivalent symmetry axes. Multiplet satellites are revealed, whose origin is explained by two-photon processes. Splitting of the energy levels of the superfine structure multiplet is derived from satellite interpretation. A satellite is found, which can be caused by fourphoton processes.  相似文献

We report a red laser at 671 nm generation by intracavity frequency doubling of a continuous wave (cw) laser operation of a 1342 nm Nd:Y0.36Gd0.64VO4 laser under diode pumping into the emitting level 4 F 3/2. An GdCa4O(BO3)3 (GdCOB) crystal, cut for critical type I phase matching at room temperature is used for second harmonic generation of the laser. At an incident pump power of 17.8 W, as high as 1.12 W of cw output power at 671 nm is achieved. The optical-to-optical conversion efficiency is up to 6.3%, and the fluctuation of the red output power was better than 3.5% in the given 30 min.  相似文献

A diode end-pumped single-frequency Tm:GdVO4 laser at room temperature was reported. The maximal output power of single-frequency is as high as 66 mW by using two uncoated fused etalons, which are respectively 0.05 mm thick YAG and 1 mm thick quartz. We obtained the single frequency Tm:GdVO4 laser at 1875.1 nm. The slope efficiency is 1.5%. The change of the lasing wavelength on temperature was also measured. The single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) laser can be used as a seed laser for coherent wind measurements and differential absorption LIDAR systems.  相似文献
