The character and the wave front set correspondence in the stable range

We relate the distribution characters and the wave front sets of unitary representation for real reductive dual pairs of type I in the stable range.     

Equality of the homogeneous and the Gabor wave front set

We prove that Hörmander’s global wave front set and Nakamura’s homogeneous wave front set of a tempered distribution coincide. In addition, we construct a tempered distribution with a given wave front set, and we develop a pseudodifferential calculus adapted to Nakamura’s homogeneous wave front set.     

On the singular set of stationary harmonic maps

LetM andN be compact riemannian manifolds, andu a stationary harmonic map fromM toN. We prove thatH ⁿ⁻² (Σ)=0, wheren=dimM and Σ is the singular set ofu. This is a generalization of a result of C. Evans [7], where this is proved in the special caseN is a sphere. We also prove that, ifu is a weakly harmonic map inW ^1,n (M, N), thenu is smooth. This extends results of F. Hélein for the casen=2, or the caseN is a sphere ([9], [10]).     

Surface homeomorphisms with zero-dimensional singular set

We prove that if ƒ is an orientation-preserving homeomorphism of a closed orientable surface M² whose singular set Σ(ƒ) is totally disconnected, then ƒ is topologically conjugate to a conformal transformation.     

The Chern-Simons invariants of cone-manifolds with Whitehead link singular set

In the present article, we obtain some explicit integral formulas for the generalized Chern-Simons function I(W(α,β)) for Whitehead link cone-manifolds in the hyperbolic and spherical cases. We also give the Chern-Simons invariant for the Whitehead link orbifolds. We find a formula for the Chern-Simons invariant of n-fold coverings of the three-sphere branched over the Whitehead link.     

On the singular set of the parabolic obstacle problem

This paper is devoted to regularity results and geometric properties of the singular set of the parabolic obstacle problem with variable right-hand side. Making use of a monotonicity formula for singular points, we prove the uniqueness of blow-up limits at singular points. These results apply to parabolic obstacle problem with variable coefficients.     

The zero set of semi-invariants for extended Dynkin quivers

We show that the set of common zeros of all semi-invariants vanishing at 0 on the variety of all representations with dimension vector of an extended Dynkin quiver under the group is a complete intersection if is ``big enough'. In case does not contain an open -orbit, which is the case not considered so far, the number of irreducible components of grows with , except if is an oriented cycle.

     

Pseudodifferential operators of Beurling type and the wave front set

We investigate the action of pseudodifferential operators of Beurling type on the wave front sets. More precisely, we show that these operators are microlocal, that is, preserve or reduce wave front sets. Some consequences on micro-hypoellipticity are derived.     

The size of the singular set in mean curvature flow of mean-convex sets

We prove that when a compact mean-convex subset of (or of an -dimensional riemannian manifold) moves by mean-curvature, the spacetime singular set has parabolic hausdorff dimension at most . Examples show that this is optimal. We also show that, as , the surface converges to a compact stable minimal hypersurface whose singular set has dimension at most . If , the convergence is everywhere smooth and hence after some time , the moving surface has no singularities
