In the present work, a further numerical simulation of the starting flow around a flat plate normal to the direction of motion in a uniform fluid has been made by means of the discrete vortex method. The secondary separation occurring at rear surface of the plate is explored, and predicted approximately using Thwait's method. The calculated results show that in the early stages of the flow secondary separation does occur. The evolution of flow field, the vortex growing process and the characteristics of secondary vortices have been described. The time dependent drag coefficients, the vorticity shed from the edges and rear surface, and the separation positions are calculated as well as the distributions of velocity and pressure on the plate. In the case of flow normal to the plate, the calculated secondary vortices are weak. Their existence will change the local velocity distributions and affect pressure distributions. However, the effect on drag coefficient is negligible.  相似文献

利用PIV技术研究了柱体与平板层流边界层角区的非定常流动结构,流动显示和PIV测量均 表明角区存在3种非定常的马蹄涡模态,即绕合模态、脱落-绕合模态以及脱落-耗散模态, 一定$Re$数下主涡脱落后既可能表现为脱落-绕合模态,也可能表现为脱落-耗散模态. 这主 要取决于模型头部形状对涡轴造成的拉伸以及耗散和扩散程度. PIV测量表明,随雷诺数增 加主涡下方从壁面喷发的反向二次涡逐步增大形成强度和尺度较大的``涡舌', 该``涡舌' 将突入整个涡系所在的边界层,最终将主涡与上游涡系隔离并使其从旋涡生成区涡系脱落. 马蹄涡非定常摆动时具有较复杂的奇点形态组合和演化,反映涡轴受到了交替的拉伸和压缩 作用.  相似文献

数值研究了平板方舵激波-湍流边界层干扰流场。模拟出了分离激波与弓型激波砬撞后形成的“λ”激波结构;消晰地显示了分离区中的旋涡结构,发现流场中会出现二次分离涡,并从理论上分析了流场对称面涡心形态与非定常的关系,得到了涡心为不稳定螺旋点或出现极限环是非定常流动特征的新结论。  相似文献

Flow visualization was used to investigate experimentally the evolution process from symmetrical shedding to staggered shedding of the starting vortex and the phenomenon of secondary separation on an elliptic cylinder at moderate Reynolds numbers. The vortex structure of the flow separation was studied. The temporal variation of separation angle and length of wake vortex were given. The photographs and experimental results provided basis for further investigation of the complicated feature of the starting process of unsteady separated flows around an elliptic cylinder. Wake separation is crucial to aircraft landing safety and is an important factor in airport operational efficiency. The near-ground evolution characteristics of wake vortices form the foundation of the wake separation system design. In this study, we analysed the near-ground evolution of vortices in the wake of a domestic aircraft ARJ21 initialised by the lift-drag model using large eddy simulations based on an adaptive mesh. Evolution of wake vortices formed by the main wing, flap and horizontal tail was discussed in detail. The horizontal tail vortices are the weakest and dissipate rapidly, whereas the flap vortices are the strongest and induce the tip vortex to merge with them. The horizontal tail and flap of an ARJ21 do not significantly influence the circulation evolution, height change and movement trajectory of the wake vortices. The far-field evolution of wake vortices can therefore be analysed using the conventional wake vortex model.  相似文献

Vortex wakes of circular cylinders at low Reynolds numbers have been investigated. Sound waves are superimposed on the flow in mean flow direction. In this configuration the Kármán vortices are shed at the sound frequency or at subharmonics of the sound frequency. The Karman vortex street is treated as a nonlinear self-excited flow oscillator with forced oscillations. Using a flow visualization technique a variety of wake structures has been identified as a function of sound frequency and sound amplitude, but independent of the Reynolds number. The superimposed sound influences the distribution of circulation and accordingly the shedding mechanism. Primary vortex and secondary vortex are shed simultaneously from one side of the cylinder. The alternate vortex shedding is arranged spatially and temporally. This paper reports an experimental investigation of the vortex shedding wake behind a long flat plate inclined at a small angle of attack to a main flow stream. Detailed velocity fields are obtained with particle-image velocimetry (PIV) at successive phases in a vortex shedding cycle at three angles of attack, α=20°, 25° and 30°, at a Reynolds number Re≈5,300. Coherent patterns and dynamics of the vortices in the wake are revealed by the phase-averaged PIV vectors and derived turbulent properties. A vortex street pattern comprising a train of leading edge vortices alternating with a train of trailing edge vortices is found in the wake. The trailing edge vortex is shed directly from the sharp trailing edge while there are evidences that the formation and shedding of the leading edge vortex involve a more complicated mechanism. The leading edge vortex seems to be shed into the wake from an axial location near the trailing edge. After shedding, the vortices are convected downstream in the wake with a convection speed roughly equal to 0.8 the free-stream velocity. On reaching the same axial location, the trailing edge vortex, as compared to the leading edge vortex, is found to possess a higher peak vorticity level at its centre and induce more intense fluid circulation and Reynolds stresses production around it. It is found that the results at the three angles of attack can be collapsed into similar trends by using the projected plate width as the characteristic length of the flow.  相似文献

In this paper the various types of vortex generation and the related response characteristics of bluff bodies are described. The vortices are, in general, generated by a certain stimulation, leading to one- or two-shear layer instability; the related unsteady forces could excite flexible structures such as tall towers, tall buildings and long-span bridges. Karman vortex shedding is well known as the alternate shedding vortex behind bluff bodies, but the one-shear layer instability related vortices and symmetrical vortex shedding should also be taken into account as additional mechanisms for the evaluation of structural safety, because they result in structural response at comparatively low wind speeds. In this paper, the symmetrical vortex shedding, which is enhanced by the longitudinally fluctuating flow for 2-D rectangular cylinders with a 0.5 side ratio, and one-shear layer related vortices, which are generated on the side surfaces of flat 2-D rectangular cylinders and many bridge girder box sections by the stimulation of body motion or applied sound, are introduced. Furthermore, as a peculiar 3-D vortex, the “axial vortex”, which is formed in near wake of inclined cables and then over restricted velocity ranges, is also discussed.  相似文献

Vortex shedding from short circular cylinders with a slit was studied using a flow visualization and amplitude spectrum analysis of a thermoanemometry probe signal. It was found that a circular cylinder with a slit and concave rear surface produces stronger vortices than other bluff cylinders but that these vortices are very vulnerable to the end wall conditions. It was established that two small splitter plates (tails) fixed directly behind the cylinder at the end walls effectively isolate the vortices shed from the cylinder from the end wall boundary layer effects. For this arrangement a perfect regularity of vortex shedding and almost constant Strouhal number were achieved in the Reynolds number test range of about 250 to 43,000.On a leave from Technical University, 60965 Poznan, Piotrowo 3, Poland.  相似文献

Two-dimensional unsteady separated flow past a semi-infinite plate with transverse motion is considered. The rolling-up of the separated shear-layer is modelled by a point vortex whose time-dependent circulation is predicted by an unsteady Kutta condition. A power-law starting flow is assumed along with a power law for the transverse motion. The effects of the motion of the plate on the starting vortex circulation and trajectory are presented. A suitable vortex shedding mechanism is introduced and a class of flows involving several vortices is presented. Finally, some possibilities for actively controlling the production of circulation by moving the plate are discussed.  相似文献

Formation and evolution of secondary streamwise vortices in the compressible transitional boundary layers over a flat plate are studied using a direct numerical simulation method with high-order accuracy and highly effective non-reflecting characteristic boundary conditions. Generation and development processes of the secondary streamwise vortices in the complicated transitional boundary flow are clearly analyzed based on the of numerical results, and the effects on the formation of the ring-like vortex that is vital to the boundary layer transition are explored. A new mechanism forming the ring-like vortex through the mutual effect of the primary and secondary streamwise vortices is expressed.  相似文献

The flow development and structural loading characteristics of cylinders with equispaced circular fins were studied experimentally for a range of fin pitches with constant fin thickness and diameter. The experiments were performed for a range of Reynolds numbers, corresponding to the shear layer transition turbulent shedding regime. Time-resolved planar Particle Image Velocimetry and direct mean drag and fluctuating lift measurements are employed to relate spatio-temporal flow development to structural loading. The results show that wake development is dominated by vortex shedding for all the cases examined. However, the fin pitch ratio has a significant effect on vortex shedding characteristics. The addition of fins increases the characteristic spatial and temporal scales of the main spanwise vortices forming in the near wake. As the fin pitch is decreased to a critical value, the coalescence of boundary layers between the adjacent fins leads to a significant enlargement of the vortex formation region. A modified vortex shedding frequency scaling is proposed, based on the effective diameter, that incorporates a Reynolds number dependence associated with the lateral boundary layers developing on the fin surfaces. A detailed analysis is conducted to characterize the strength of the vortical structures forming in the near wake. The addition of the fins is shown to produce a stabilizing effect on the roll-up process, associated with a reduction in the generation of smaller scale, three-dimensional structures. The results demonstrate that the addition of fins leads to an increase in the mean drag, which is driven primarily by the associated increase in skin friction. The significant effect of the fin pitch ratio on the characteristics of the shed vortices as well as the size of the vortex formation region is shown to lead to substantial variations in the fluctuating loads.  相似文献

The intensification of single vortices in convective flows swirled by the Coriolis force is studied numerically. The initial disturbances, specified against the background of a steady cell, are coaxial with the cell flow and have various swirl directions, intensities, and dimensions. It is shown that the vortices are intensified no matter whether the direction of disturbing vortex rotation is co- or counter-directional with the Coriolis force. If the disturbance intensity is small as compared with that of the convective-cell flow, the growth of the azimuthal velocity circulation in the perturbing vortices depends linearly on their initial circulation. 横向强迫振荡柱体尾流控制是柱体涡激振动控制的基础,在海洋、土木等工程中具有重要意义. 横向强迫振荡柱体尾流中存在一种锁频旋涡脱落模式,即在一个振荡周期内柱体上、下侧各脱落旋转方向相反的一对涡,称为2P模式. 本文将相对宽度b/D=0.32的窄条控制件置于横向强迫振荡柱体下游,对振幅比A/D=1.25, 无量纲振频f_e D/V_∞=0.22,雷诺数Re=1 200的2P模式旋涡脱落进行干扰,并通过改变控制件位置,研究旋涡的变化规律. 采用二维大涡模拟和实验验证方法进行研究,在控制件位置范围0.8≤X/D≤3.2, 0.4≤Y/D≤3.2内,得到了2P, 2S, P+S和另外6种新发现的旋涡脱落模式,并对各模式旋涡的形成过程作了详细描述. 在控制件位置平面上给出了各旋涡模式的存在区域,画出了旋涡脱落强度的等值线图,并发现在一个相当大的区域内,旋涡脱落强 度可减小一半以上,尾流变窄. 发现柱体大幅振荡引起的横向剪切流在旋涡生成中起关键作用. 探讨了控制件对横向剪切流的影响,分析了控制件在每种旋涡模式形成中的作用机制.   相似文献
