A computational model is used to quantify the evolution of quantum state populations as highly vibrationally excited (14)N(2) ((14)N(2)?) equilibrates in various bath gases. Multicollision energy disposal follows general principles established in related single collision processes. Thus when state-to-state routes permit, maximum amounts of energy are deposited into partner species by direct vibration-to-vibration (V-V) exchange. When these pathways are absent, e.g., when Ar is the bath species, relaxation is very slow and multistaged. Conversely, in a bath of v = 0 (14)N(2) molecules, 16 vibrational quanta (Δv = ± 8) are resonantly exchanged from (v;j) = (8;10) with vibrational equilibration so rapid that rotation and translation still lag far behind after 1000 collisions. Near-resonant V-V exchange dominates the initial phase when (15)N(2) forms the bath gas and although some rotational warming occurs, vibrational modes remain decoupled from, and significantly hotter than, the low heat capacity modes. These forms of behavior seem likely to characterize excited and bath species that have closely similar vibration and rotation constants. More generic in nature is (14)N(2) in O(2) or in a mixture that closely resembles air. Here, asymmetric V-V exchange is a dominant early feature in ensemble evolution but energy differences in the key vibration and rotation quanta lead to V-V energy defects that are compensated for by the low energy modes. This results in much more rapid ensemble equilibration, generally within 400-500 collisions, when O(2) is present even as a minor constituent. Our results are in good general agreement with those obtained from experimental studies of N(2) plasmas both in terms of modal temperatures and initial (first collision cycle) cross-sections.  相似文献

The photodesorption of H(2)O in its vibrational ground state, and of OH radicals in their ground and first excited vibrational states, following 157 nm photoexcitation of amorphous solid water has been studied using molecular dynamics simulations and detected experimentally by resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization techniques. There is good agreement between the simulated and measured energy distributions. In addition, signals of H(+) and OH(+) were detected in the experiments. These are inferred to originate from vibrationally excited H(2)O molecules that are ejected from the surface by two distinct mechanisms: a direct desorption mechanism and desorption induced by secondary recombination of photoproducts at the ice surface. This is the first reported experimental evidence of photodesorption of vibrationally excited H(2)O molecules from water ice.  相似文献

The photoelectron spectrum of F2O pertaining to ionizations to the ground (X2B1) and low-lying excited electronic states (A2B2, B2A1, and C2A2) of F2O+ is investigated theoretically. The near equilibrium potential energy surfaces of the ground electronic state (X2B1) of F2O and the mentioned ground and excited electronic states of F2O+ reported by Wang et al. ( J. Chem. Phys. 2001, 114, 10682) for the C2v configuration are extended for the Cs geometry assuming a harmonic vibration along the asymmetric stretching mode. The vibronic interactions between the A2B2 and B2A1 electronic states of F2O+ are treated within a linear coupling approach, and the strength of the vibronic coupling parameter is calculated by an ab initio method. The nuclear dynamics is simulated by both time-independent quantum mechanical and time-dependent wave packet approaches. Although the first photoelectron band exhibits resolved vibrational progression along the symmetric stretching mode, the second one is highly overlapping. The latter is attributed to the nonadiabatic interactions among the energetically close A2B2, B2A1, and C2A2 electronic states of F2O+. The theoretical findings are in good accord with the available experimental results.  相似文献

The energy transfer between Kr atoms and highly vibrationally excited, rotationally cold biphenyl in the triplet state was investigated using crossed-beam/time-of-flight mass spectrometer/time-sliced velocity map ion imaging techniques. Compared to the energy transfer of naphthalene, energy transfer of biphenyl shows more forward scattering, less complex formation, larger cross section for vibrational to translational (V→T) energy transfer, smaller cross section for translational to vibrational and rotational (T→VR) energy transfer, larger total collisional cross section, and more energy transferred from vibration to translation. Significant increase in the large V→T energy transfer probabilities, termed supercollisions, was observed. The difference in the energy transfer of highly vibrationally excited molecules between rotationally cold naphthalene and rotationally cold biphenyl is very similar to the difference in the energy transfer of highly vibrationally excited molecules between rotationally cold naphthalene and rotationally hot naphthalene. The low-frequency vibrational modes with out-of-plane motion and rotationlike wide-angle motion are attributed to make the energy transfer of biphenyl different from that of naphthalene.  相似文献

The energy transfer between Kr atoms and highly vibrationally excited, rotationally cold phenanthrene and diphenylacetylene in the triplet state was investigated using crossed-beam/time-of-flight mass spectrometer/time-sliced velocity map ion imaging techniques. Compared to the energy transfer between naphthalene and Kr, energy transfer between phenanthrene and Kr shows a larger cross-section for vibrational to translational (V → T) energy transfer, a smaller cross-section for translational to vibrational and rotational (T → VR) energy transfer, and more energy transferred from vibration to translation. These differences are further enlarged in the comparison between naphthalene and diphenylacetylene. In addition, less complex formation and significant increases in the large V → T energy transfer probabilities, termed supercollisions in diphenylacetylene and Kr collisions were observed. The differences in the energy transfer between these highly vibrationally excited molecules are attributed to the low-frequency vibrational modes, especially those vibrations with rotation-like wide-angle motions.  相似文献

The free radical reaction of C2Cl3 with NO2 was investigated by step-scan time-resolved FTIR (TR-FTIR) emission spectroscopy. Due to the vibrationally excited products of Cl2CO, NO, and CO, strong IR emission bands were observed with high resolution TR-FTIR spectra. Four reaction channels forming C2Cl3O+NO, CCl3CO+NO, CO+NO+CCl3, and ClCNO+Cl2CO were elucidated, respectively. Spectralˉtting showed that the product CO was highly vibrationally excited with the nascent average vibrational energy of 60.2 kJ/mol. Possible reaction mechanism via intermediates C2Cl3NO2 and C2Cl3ONO was proposed.  相似文献

Energy transfer of highly vibrationally excited naphthalene in the triplet state in collisions with CHF(3), CF(4), and Kr was studied using a crossed-beam apparatus along with time-sliced velocity map ion imaging techniques. Highly vibrationally excited naphthalene (2.0 eV vibrational energy) was formed via the rapid intersystem crossing of naphthalene initially excited to the S(2) state by 266 nm photons. The shapes of the collisional energy-transfer probability density functions were measured directly from the scattering results of highly vibrationally excited naphthalene. In comparison to Kr atoms, the energy transfer in collisions between CHF(3) and naphthalene shows more forward scatterings, larger cross section for vibrational to translational (V → T) energy transfer, smaller cross section for translational to vibrational and rotational (T → VR) energy transfer, and more energy transferred from vibration to translation, especially in the range -ΔE(d) = -100 to -800 cm(-1). On the other hand, the difference of energy transfer properties between collisional partners Kr and CF(4) is small. The enhancement of the V → T energy transfer in collisions with CHF(3) is attributed to the large attractive interaction between naphthalene and CHF(3) (1-3 kcal/mol).  相似文献

Relaxation of highly vibrationally excited 1,2-, 1,3-, and 1,4-difluorobenzne (DFB) by collisions with carbon dioxide has been investigated using diode laser transient absorption spectroscopy. Vibrationally hot DFB (E' approximately 41,000 cm(-1)) was prepared by 248 nm excimer laser excitation followed by rapid radiationless relaxation to the ground electronic state. Collisions between hot DFB isomers and CO2 result in large amounts of rotational and translational energy transfer from the hot donors to the bath. The CO2 nascent rotational population distribution of the high-J (J = 58-80) tail of the 00(0)0 state was probed at short times following the excimer laser pulse to measure rate constants and probabilities for collisions populating these states. The amount of translational energy gained by CO2 during collisions was determined using Doppler spectroscopy to measure the width of the absorption line for each transition. The energy transfer probability distribution function, P(E,E'), for the large DeltaE tail was obtained by resorting the state-indexed energy transfer probabilities as a function of DeltaE. P(E,E') was fit to a biexponential function to determine the average energy transferred in a single DFB/CO2 collision and fit parameters describing the shape of P(E,E'). P(E,E') fit parameters for DFB/CO2 and the previously studied C6F6/CO2 system are compared to various donor molecular properties. A model based on Fermi's Golden Rule indicates that the shape of P(E,E') is primarily determined by the low-frequency out-of-plane donor vibrational modes. A fractional mode population analysis is performed, which suggests that for energy transfer from DFB and C6F6 to CO2 the two key donor vibrational modes from which energy leaks out of the donor into the bath are nu11 and nu16. These "gateway" modes are some of the same modes determined to be the most efficient energy transfer modes by quantum scattering studies of benzene/He collisions.  相似文献

Energy transfer between highly vibrationally excited naphthalene and Kr atom in a series of translational collision energies (108-847 cm(-1)) was studied separately using a crossed-beam apparatus along with time-sliced velocity map ion imaging techniques. Highly vibrationally excited naphthalene in the triplet state (vibrational energy: 16,194 cm(-1); electronic energy: 21,400 cm(-1)) was formed via the rapid intersystem crossing of naphthalene initially excited to the S(2) state by 266 nm photons. The collisional energy transfer probability density functions were measured directly from the scattering results of highly vibrationally excited naphthalene. At low collision energies a short-lived naphthalene-Kr complex was observed, resulting in small amounts of translational to vibrational-rotational (T-->VR) energy transfer. The complex formation probability decreases as the collision energy increases. T-->VR energy transfer was found to be quite efficient at all collision energies. In some instances, nearly all of the translational energy is transferred to vibrational-rotational energy. On the other hand, only a small fraction of vibrational energy is converted to translational energy. The translational energy gained from vibrational energy extend to large energy transfer (up to 3000 cm(-1)) as the collision energy increases to 847 cm(-1). Substantial amounts of large V-->T energy transfer were observed in the forward and backward directions at large collision energies.  相似文献

Absorption and luminescence excitation spectra of Xe/CF(4) mixtures were studied in the vacuum UV region at high resolution using tunable synchrotron radiation. Pressure-broadened resonance bands and bands associated with dipole-forbidden states of the Xe atom due to collision-induced breakdown of the optical selection rules are reported. The spectra display in addition numerous satellite bands corresponding to transitions to vibrationally excited states of a Xe-CF(4) collisional complex. These satellites are located at energies of Xe atom transition increased by one quantum energy in the IR active v(3) vibrational mode of CF(4) (v(3) = 1281 cm(-1)). Satellites of both resonance and dipole-forbidden transitions were observed. Satellites of low lying resonance states are spectrally broad bands closely resembling in shape their parent pressure-broadened resonance bands. In contrast, satellites of dipole-forbidden states and of high lying resonance states are spectrally narrow bands (FWHM ~10 cm(-1)). The satellites of dipole-forbidden states are orders of magnitude stronger than transitions to their parent states due to collision-induced breakdown of the optical selection rules. These satellites are attributed to a coupling of dipole-forbidden and resonance states induced by the electric field of the transient CF(4) (v(3) = 0 ? v(3) = 1) dipole. Similar satellites are present in spectra of Xe/C(2)F(6) mixtures where these bands are induced by the IR active v(10) mode of C(2)F(6). Transitions to vibrationally excited states of Xe-CF(4)(C(2)F(6)) collision pairs were also observed in two-photon LIF spectra.  相似文献

Ab initio calculations that explicitly include spin-orbit interactions are reported for the NeCl2 system of electronic states. A surprising curve crossing is observed for the C2v, T-shaped geometry. Away from the C2v geometry, the states mix, as expected. On the basis of these new results we propose a new mechanism for electronic energy transfer from highly vibrationally excited levels of the B electronic state of the chlorine molecule. It is proposed that as long as vibrational predissociation of NeCl2 proceeds by direct coupling of the initial state to the continuum states the Ne atom does not sample geometries that efficiently quench the Cl2 B electronic state. However, when the vibrational dynamics changes to the intramolecular vibrational relaxation regime the Ne atom becomes quite effective at coupling the Cl2 B3Pi0u+ state with a 3Pi2g state.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of the vibrational relaxation of NO(ν = 1) and NO(ν = 2) by NO has been investigated over the range 220–470K. The vibrationally excited NO was produced by the pulse radiolysis of dilute NO-Ar mixtures and temporal dependence of the NO(ν = 1) and NO(ν = 2) followed by UV absorption spectrophotometry. The results for the self-relaxation of NO(ν = 1) are in good agreement with previous measurements exhibiting a minimum in the relaxation rate constant near 300 K; however, the results for the V-V exchange between NO(ν = 2) and NO(ν = 0) are approximately a factor of two smaller that the results calculated from the relaxation rate constant of the reverse 1+1 process and detailed balance at 300 K. The temperature dependence of the V-V exchange rate constant is in good agreement with calculated estimates based on Rapp's SSH theory for V-V transfer. The long-range dipole-dipole formulation must be extended to other than 1Σ state systems in order to explicitly take into account the influence of spin-orbit coupling on the state-to-state rate constants for vibrational relaxation.  相似文献

Infrared emission following the photolysis of SO(2) by a 193 nm laser pulse (20 ns duration) was recorded with 500 ns time and 10 cm(-1) spectral resolution. Spectral analyses of the time-resolved spectra revealed the vibrationally excited nascent SO population distribution as (v = 1)/(v = 2)/(v = 3)/(v = 4)/(v = 5) = 0.54 ± 0.04, 1.00 ± 0.03, 0.00 ± 0.03, 0.01 ± 0.03, and 0.10 ± 0.03. The nascent SO was found to be rotationally excited with an average rotational temperature around 1000 K for v = 1 and v = 2 levels and 300 K for the v = 5 level. The vibrationally excited SO likely originates from two distinct dissociation mechanisms; the v = 1 and 2 populations are generated through intersystem crossing between the C state and a repulsive state (2(3)A'), and the v = 5 population is generated through internal conversion from the C to the X state. Efficient V-V energy transfer from nascent vibrationally excited SO to SO(2)(ν(1)) is also observed. The appearance of the SO(2)(ν(1)) ν(1) = 2 emission, before that from the ν(1) = 1 population is consistent with the previous report that the Δν = -2 channel is more efficient than the Δν = -1 channel.  相似文献

The distribution of rotational and vibrational energy in HCO produced by the O((3)P)+C(2)H(4) reaction has been measured using laser-induced fluorescence detection via the B(2)A(')-X(2)A(') transition. Over a detection wavelength range of 248-290 nm, our experiments have shown that HCO is formed in both the ground state and in at least six vibrationally excited states with up to two quanta of energy in the C-O stretch and the bending mode. Dispersed fluorescence experiments were conducted to positively assign all of the HCO vibrational bands. The experiments confirmed that many bands, including the B(000)-X(000) band, are affected by overlap with other HCO bands. Spectral modeling was used to separate the contributions of overlapping HCO B-X bands and to determine a nascent HCO rotational temperature of approximately 600 K, corresponding to approximately 6% of the total energy from the O((3)P)+C(2)H(4) reaction. HCO vibrational distributions were determined for two different average collision energies and were fit with vibrational temperatures of 1850+/-80 K and 2000+/-100 K, corresponding to approximately 15% of the total energy. The observed Boltzmann distribution of vibrational energy in HCO indicates that HCO and CH(3) are formed by the dissociation of an energized intermediate complex.  相似文献

We present an exact quantum dynamical study and quasi-classical trajectory (QCT) calculations for the exchange and abstraction processes for the H + HS reaction. These calculations were based on a newly constructed high-quality potential energy surface for the lowest triplet state of H(2)S ((3)A"). The ab initio single-point energies were computed using complete active space self-consistent field and multi-reference configuration interaction method with a basis set of aug-cc-pV5Z. The time-dependent wave packet (TDWP) method was used to calculate the total reaction probabilities and integral cross sections over the collision energy (E(col)) range of 0.0-2.0 eV for the reactant HS initially at the ground state and the first vibrationally excited state. It was found that the initial vibrational excitation of HS enhances both abstraction and exchange processes. In addition, a good agreement is found between QCT and TDWP reaction probabilities at the total momentum J = 0 as a function of collision energy for the H + HS (v = 0, j = 0) reaction.  相似文献

Non-equilibrium molecular dynamics (NEMD) simulations of energy transfer from vibrationally excited CO(2) to CCl(4) and CH(2)Cl(2) solvent molecules are performed to identify the efficiency of different energy pathways into the solvent bath. Studying in detail the work performed by the vibrationally excited solute on the different solvent degrees of freedom, it is shown that vibration-to-vibration (V-V) processes are strongly dominant and controlled by those accepting modes which are close in frequency to the CO(2) bend and symmetric stretch vibration.  相似文献

A combined experimental and trajectory study of vibrationally state-selected NO2+ collisions with Ne, Ar, Kr, and Xe is presented. Ne, Ar, and Kr are similar in that only dissociation to the excited singlet oxygen channel is observed; however, the appearance energies vary by approximately 4 eV between the three rare gases, and the variation is nonmonotonic in rare gas mass. Xe behaves quite differently, allowing efficient access to the ground triplet state dissociation channel. For all four rare gases there are strong effects of NO2+ vibrational excitation that extend over the entire collision energy range, implying that vibration influences the efficiency of collision to internal energy conversion. Bending excitation is more efficient than stretching; however, bending angular momentum partially counters the enhancement. Direct dynamics trajectories for NO2+ + Kr reproduce both the collision energy and vibrational state effects observed experimentally and reveal that intracomplex charge transfer is critical for the efficient energy transfer needed to drive dissociation. The strong vibrational effects can be rationalized in terms of bending, and to a lesser extent, stretching distortion enhancing transition to the Kr+ -NO2 charge state.  相似文献

Relaxation of highly vibrationally excited pyrimidine (C(4)N(2)H(4)) by collisions with carbon dioxide has been investigated using diode laser transient absorption spectroscopy. Vibrationally hot pyrimidine (E(')=40 635 cm(-1)) was prepared by 248-nm excimer laser excitation, followed by rapid radiationless relaxation to the ground electronic state. The nascent rotational population distribution (J=58-80) of the 00(0)0 ground state of CO(2) resulting from collisions with hot pyrimidine was probed at short times following the excimer laser pulse. Doppler spectroscopy was used to measure the CO(2) recoil velocity distribution for J=58-80 of the 00(0)0 state. Rate constants and probabilities for collisions populating these CO(2) rotational states were determined. The measured energy transfer probabilities, indexed by final bath state, were resorted as a function of DeltaE to create the energy transfer distribution function, P(E,E(')), from E(')-E approximately 1300-7000 cm(-1). P(E,E(')) is fitted to a single exponential and a biexponential function to determine the average energy transferred in a single collision between pyrimidine and CO(2) and parameters that can be compared to previously studied systems using this technique, pyrazineCO(2), C(6)F(6)CO(2), and methylpyrazineCO(2). P(E,E(')) parameters for these four systems are also compared to various molecular properties of the donor molecules. Finally, P(E,E(')) is analyzed in the context of two models, one which suggests that the shape of P(E,E(')) is primarily determined by the low-frequency out-of-plane donor vibrational modes and one which suggests that the shape of P(E,E(')) can be determined by how the donor molecule final density of states changes with DeltaE.  相似文献
