We investigate the effects of the Casimir force on the output properties of a hybrid optomechanical system. In this system, a nanosphere is fixed on the movable-mirror side of the standard optomechanical system, and the nanosphere interacts with the movable-mirror via the Casimir force, which depends on the mirror–sphere separation. In the presence of the probe and control fields, we analyze the transmission coefficient and the group delay of the field-component with the frequency of the probe field. We also study the transmission intensity of the field-component with the frequency of a newly generated four-wave mixing(FWM) field. By manipulating the Casimir force, we find that a tunable slow light can be realized for the field-component with the frequency of the probe field, and the intensity spectrum of the FWM field can be enhanced and shifted effectively.  相似文献

In this paper,we study an optomechanical device consisting of a Fabry-P′erot cavity with two dielectric nanospheres trapped near the cavity mirrors by an external driving laser. In the condition where the distances between the nanospheres and cavity mirrors are small enough, the Casimir force helps the optomechanical coupling to induce a steady-state optomechanical entanglement of the mechanical and optical modes in a certain regime of parameters. We investigate in detail the dependence of the steadystate optomechanical entanglement on external control parameters of the system,i.e.,the effective detuning, the pump powers of the cavity, the cavity decay rate and the wavelength of the driving field. It is found that the large steady-state optomechanical entanglement,i.e.EN=5.76,can be generated with experimentally feasible parameters,i.e.the pump power P=18.2μW,the cavity decay rateκ=0.5 MHz and the wavelength of the laserλL=1064 nm,which should be checked by optical measurement.  相似文献

An approach for photonic generation of a frequency-octupled phase-coded signal based on carrier-suppressed high-order double sideband modulation is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The key component of the scheme is an integrated dual-polarization quadrature phase shift keying modulator, which is used to achieve the carrier-suppressed high-order double sideband modulation. At the output of the modulator, two fourth-order optical sidebands are generated with the optical carrier suppressed. After that, a Sagnac loop incorporating a fiber Bragg grating and a phase modulator is employed to separate the two optical sidebands and phase modulate one sideband with a binary coding signal. The approach features large carrier frequency tuning range for the generated phase-coded signal from several megahertz to beyond the W-band. A proof-of-concept experiment is carried out. The 2 Gbit/s phase-coded signals with frequencies of 16.48, 21.92, and 29.76 GHz are generated.  相似文献

We theoretically investigate the optical second-order sideband generation(OSSG) in an optical parity-time(PT) symmetric system, which consists of a passive cavity trapping the atomic ensemble and an active cavity. Compared with the double-passive system, it is found that near the exceptional point(EP), the efficiency of the OSSG increases sharply not only for the blue probepump detuning resonant case but also for the red one. Using experimentally achievable parameters, we study the effect of the atomic ensemble on the efficiency of the OSSG in the PT-symmetric system. The numerical results show that the efficiency of the OSSG is 30% higher than that of the first-order sideband, which is realized easily by simultaneously modulating the atom-cavity coupling strength and detuning. Moreover, the efficiency of the OSSG can also be tuned effectively by the pump power, and the efficiency is robust when the pump power is strong enough. This study may have some guidance for modulating the nonlinear optical properties and controlling light propagation, which may stimulate further applications in optical communications.  相似文献

The ultrafast Raman response of C-H vibrations in polymer waveguides on a printed circuit is shown to enable a high-gain amplification and high-order stimulated Raman transformation of ultrashort laser pulses. The pump and Stokes fields coupled by the C-H vibration mode with a vibration cycle of 11 fs give rise to multiple Raman sidebands, suggesting the way toward ultrafast optical data processing and few-cycle optical waveform synthesis on a printed-circuit polymer waveguide platform.  相似文献

We study theoretically the generation of strong entanglement of two mechanical oscillators in an unresolved-sideband optomechanical cavity, using a reservoir engineering approach. In our proposal, the effect of unwanted counter-rotating terms is suppressed via destructive quantum interference by the optical field of two auxiliary cavities. For arbitrary values of the optomechanical interaction, the entanglement is obtained numerically. In the weak-coupling regime, we derive an analytical expression for the entanglement of the two mechanical oscillators based on an effective master equation, and obtain the optimal parameters to achieve strong entanglement. Our analytical results are in accord with numerical simulations.  相似文献

Based on a unified approach to macroscopic QED that allows for the inclusion of amplification in a limited space and frequency range, we study the Casimir force as a Lorentz force on an arbitrary partially amplifying system of linearly locally responding (isotropic) magnetoelectric bodies. We demonstrate that the force on a weakly polarisable/magnetisable amplifying object in the presence of a purely absorbing environment can be expressed as a sum over the Casimir-Polder forces on the excited atoms inside the body. As an example, the resonant force between a plate consisting of a dilute gas of excited atoms and a perfect mirror is calculated.  相似文献

We propose a scheme to suppress the laser phase noise without increasing the optomechanical single-photon coupling strength. In the scheme, the parametric amplification terms, created by Kerr and Duffing nonlinearities, can restrain laser phase noise and strengthen the effective optomechanical coupling, respectively.Interestingly, decreasing laser phase noise leads to increasing thermal noise, which is inhibited by bringing in a broadband-squeezed vacuum environment. To reflect the superiority of the scheme,we simulate quantum memory and stationary optomechanical entanglement as examples, and the corresponding numerical results demonstrate that the laser phase noise is extremely suppressed. Our method can pave the way for studying other quantum phenomena.  相似文献

We investigate the effects of dynamical Casimir effect in superradiant light scattering by Bose-Einstein condensate in an optomechanical cavity. The system is studied using both classical and quantized mirror motions. The cavity frequency is harmonically modulated in time for both the cases. The main quantity of interest is the number of intracavity scattered photons. The system has been investigated under the weak and strong modulations. It has been observed that the amplitude of the scattered photons is more for the classical mirror motion than the quantized mirror motion. Also, initially, the amplitude of scattered photons is high for lower modulation amplitude than higher modulation amplitude. We also found that the behavior of the plots are similar under strong and weak modulations for the quantized mirror motion.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Understanding the force between charged surfaces immersed in an electrolyte solution is a classic problem in soft matter and liquid-state theory. Recent experiments showed that the force decays exponentially but the characteristic decay length in a concentrated electrolyte is significantly larger than what liquid-state theories predict based on analysing correlation functions in the bulk electrolyte. Inspired by the classical Casimir effect, we consider an additional mechanism for force generation, namely the confinement of density fluctuations in the electrolyte by the walls. We show analytically within the random phase approximation, which assumes the ions to be point charges, that this fluctuation-induced force is attractive and also decays exponentially, albeit with a decay length that is half of the bulk correlation length. These predictions change dramatically when excluded volume effects are accounted for within the mean spherical approximation. At high ion concentrations the Casimir force is found to be exponentially damped oscillatory as a function of the distance between the confining surfaces. Our analysis does not resolve the riddle of the anomalously long screening length observed in experiments, but suggests that the Casimir force due to mode restriction in density fluctuations could be an hitherto under-appreciated source of surface–surface interaction.  相似文献

We show numerically that when a soliton circulating in the laser cavity experiences dynamical bifurcations, extra sets of sidebands appear in the soliton spectrum. The new sidebands have clearly different characteristics to those of the conventional soliton sidebands, indicating that there exists a new mechanism of sideband generation in the lasers.  相似文献

Resonant sideband production in stretched-pulse fiber lasers operating with net normal dispersion is investigated. A theoretical formulation is compared with numerical modeling and experimental results. The inherent difference from sideband generation in soliton lasers is discussed. We also consider the implications of sideband formation in related dispersion-managed soliton transmission systems.  相似文献

We calculate the dependence of the Casimir force on the isotopic composition of the interacting objects. This dependence arises from the subtle influence of the nuclear masses on the electronic properties of the bodies. We discuss the relevance of these results to current experiments utilizing the isoelectronic effect to search at very short separations for new weak forces suggested by various unification theories.  相似文献

In our previous work (Meng et al 2020 Phys. Rev. A 101 023838), we discover the phenomenon that the quantum entanglement on the driving threshold line remains a constant in a three-mode optomechanical phonon laser system. In this paper, to find the conditions under which the constant boundary entanglement shows up, we explicitly study how this boundary entanglement depends on various parameters through numerical integrations. The results show that the necessary and sufficient condition is a resonant frequency match between the optical frequency difference and the mechanical vibrational frequency, and this constant value is proportional to the multiplication of the square of the optomechanical coupling strength and the resonant driving threshold power.  相似文献

In this work, we study an entanglement concentration scheme in a 3-mode optomechanical system. The scheme is based on phonon counting measurements, which can be performed through photon counting of an auxiliary cavity connected to the mechanical resonator. The amount of entanglement between the two cavity output modes is found to increase logarithmically with the number of detected phonons(photons). Such an entanglement concentration scheme is deterministic since, independently of the number of detected phonons(photons), the measurement always leads to an increase in output entanglement. Besides numerical simulations,we provide analytical results and physical insight for the improved entanglement and the concentration efficiency.  相似文献

We have explored the nonlinear dynamics of an optomechanical system consisting of an illuminated Fabry-Perot cavity, one of whose end mirrors is attached to a vibrating cantilever. The backaction induced by the bolometric light force produces negative damping such that the system enters a regime of nonlinear oscillations. We study the ensuing attractor diagram describing the nonlinear dynamics. A theory is presented that yields quantitative agreement with experimental results. This includes the observation of a regime where two mechanical modes of the cantilever are excited simultaneously.  相似文献
