A method is presented for the mutual coupling analysis of concave, circular cylindrical or spherical waveguide arrays. The array is considered as a set of waveguides that are coupled through a prefectly conducting, lossless cavity, which leads to an equivalent multiport network. The corresponding scattering matrix is obtained by matching the cavity and waveguide fields over the guide apertures and solving the resulting equation by Galerkin's method. In particular the complications are discussed, which arise from the possibly large number of degenerate, resonant cavity modes. A result obtained is the general condition that at a resonance the total aperture field (for all waveguide apertures) must be orthogonal to the set of degenerate, resonant cavity modes. This leads, with certain exceptions, to zero coupling between the guides whenever the total number of aperture modes (for all waveguides) is less than or equal to the number of resonant cavity modes.  相似文献

An analytic representation is constructed for a nonaxially symmetric sound field to simulate a hydroacoustic waveguide the bottom of which is hard and has an axially symmetric relief. A numerical analytic method for finding the velocity potential is proposed, for which undetermined coefficients for normal modes are determined from a corresponding infinite system of algebraic equations. 为得到脉宽150ns,功率超过100MW的30GHz微波脉冲,采用MSLED-II原理设计了30GHz RF-脉冲压缩器。H-Hybrid,TE100口-TE10o模式转换器等器件都采用了新型设计,所有微波器件的设计充分考虑了高功率下的适用性,没有容易引起打火的调谐杆、容性膜片等部件。在微波器件的设计中用HFSS软件进行了详尽的模拟。加工并测试了H-Hybrid,且用在CERN的RF脉冲展宽器上。  相似文献

The propagation characteristics of a circular dielectric waveguide with chiral media filled in the cladding are investigated. The relation between the cutoff frequency and the chiral admittance, the dispersion curves for some modes with different angular mode numbers and the transverse distribution of fields are presented. Some new features different from the ordinary circular dielectric waveguide are resulted. The results show that the cladding chirality may lead to a single-mode operation in the circular dielectric waveguide.  相似文献

Helical waveguide, a different type of waveguide structure, has been considered for analysis of modal dispersion characteristics. This paper deals with the study of a new type of annular waveguide, in which the inner cladding is made by the helical windings i.e. sheath helix and the outer cladding is as usual simple step-index cladding. Using vector approach, the general characteristic equation for the proposed waveguide has been derived. The modal dispersion characteristics for the lowest order modes for different pitch angles and thickness are determined and analyzed. We have found that there is an existence of the negative dispersion curve in the helically inner cladded annular circular waveguide. It means that the inner cladding is responsible for the negative dispersion which is generally obtained in a photonic band gap.  相似文献

The light transmission through a dispersive plasmonic circular hole is numerically investigated with an emphasis on its subwavelength guidance. For a better understanding of the effect of the hole diameter on the guided dispersion characteristics, the guided modes, including both the surface plasmon polariton mode and the circular waveguide mode, are studied for several hole diameters, especially when the metal cladding has a plasmonic frequency dependency. A brief comparison is also made with the guided dispersion characteristics of a dispersive plasmonic gap [K.Y. Kim, et al., Opt. Express 14, 320–330 (2006)], which is a planar version of the present structure, and a circular waveguide with perfect electric conductor cladding. Finally, the modal behaviour of the first three TM-like principal modes with varied hole diameters is examined for the same operating mode.  相似文献

研究一个芯子层是左手材料,其他三层由传统材料构成的四层平板光波导系统,利用图解法对各种TE偏振的导波模式的解进行详细分析.研究表明,四层左手材料光波导既能支持振荡导模,也能支持表面导模,与三层左手材料光波导相比较,此四层波导的导波模式呈现一些新的特性.对于中间传统材料层存在振荡场的情形:芯子层支持振荡导模的光波导中存在基模,并且高阶振荡导模出现模式缺失的性质;芯子层支持表面导模的光波导可以支持基模和多个高阶模式,并且存在模式兼并的性质.对于中间传统材料层存在衰减场的情形,此四层波导结构可等效为三层左手材料光波导.这些新的光波导传输性质对各种光波导器件的制作有潜在的应用价值.  相似文献

A chiroferrite is made from chiral objects immersed in a magnetically biased ferrite. A waveguide including a chiroferrite is anticipated to possess some novel features due to the presence of chirality in combination with anisotropy. In this paper, the propagation characteristics of a circular metal waveguide filled with a chiroferrite medium are investigated by an analytical procedure. The equations of relations between the transverse components and the longitudinal ones of electromagnetic fields in general chiroferrite waveguides are derived in a cylindrical coordinate system. The coupled wave equations for the longitudinal electric and magnetic fields are decoupled into two Helmholtz equations which are then solved analytically. The characteristic equation is formulated for the circular chiroferrite waveguide. Propagation constants varying with the structural and material parameters have been calculated for several lower chiral modes. A number of interesting features have been revealed by the numerical results.  相似文献

本文提出了一种快速和精确分析多量子阱(MQW)条形光波导的新算法。它基于有效折射率法和有限元法的结合。首先,由等效的平面波导替换多量子阱条形结构,用有效折射率法从原来问题得到平面波导的折射率分布;然后,用有限元法计算等效结构中E_(mn)~x模和E_(mn)~y模的传播常数和场强分布。文中给出了任意阱数和不同宽度多量子阱的对称结构和不对称结构的结果。  相似文献

 基于圆波导TE11模的模式简并特性和微波在椭圆波导中传输两个正交TE11模式相速不同的性质,研制了一种带有椭圆波导结构的圆波导TE11模圆极化器。该圆极化器通过圆波导到椭圆波导的过渡段,将输入的线极化TE11模式分成两个等幅、正交的TE11模,然后调整椭圆波导长度,使得两个正交的TE11模式的相位差为90°,实现了TE11模式微波线极化到圆极化的转换。利用时域有限差分软件优化设计了该圆极化器,并按照优化的结构尺寸加工了一套实验装置进行了实验测试,测试结果表明:在工作频率9~10 GHz范围内,该圆极化器轴比小于1 dB,驻波比小于1.1,且功率容量大于1.6 GW。  相似文献

Port output of metallo-dielectric confined circular microlasers directly connected with a coupling waveguide in radial direction is presented and numerically investigated by the finite-difference time-domain method and the Padé approximation. The quality factors of fundamental whispering-gallery modes confined in microlasers with dimensions of around 1 μm do not deteriorate until the output waveguide can support a one-order guided wave. The port-output metallo-dielectric microlasers with low threshold are expected. In addition, the mode characteristics of port-output metallo-dielectric microlasers are studied based on ample modes of larger cavity, where coupled modes and standing-wave-like modes dominate in the cavity with a wide output port.  相似文献

Floquet's theorem for three dimensions is proved for each of the two mathematical conditions of periodicity: the differential equation and the boundary condition. The theorem applied to circular waveguides with screw periodicity provides the dispersion characteristics of the uncoupled modes. These characteristics are compared to those of a normal circular waveguide to show how screw periodic RF structures shift in phase the waveguide cutoff point and how such a shift is advantageous to gyrotron backward-wave oscillators.  相似文献

 为了用耦合波理论研究一些同轴结构的高频特性,推导了半径渐变同轴波导内模式耦合系数的计算公式,发现半径渐变圆波导模式耦合系数只是同轴波导模式耦合系数的特例。对同轴波导中的模式及其本征方程根的特点进行了讨论,通过建立同轴波导模式和矩形波导模式之间的对应关系,给出了同轴波导模式本征方程根的快速计算方法。对所给模式耦合系数公式进行了验证,耦合波理论计算结果与有限元方法计算结果吻合良好。  相似文献

 采用在圆柱坐标系中分离变量的方法,推出填充多层互易手征介质的金属同轴线各层电磁场之间的关系,得到其模式特征方程和圆波导模式特征方程,给出了填充两层手征介质金属同轴线部分模式的色散特性的数值计算结果,分析了手征介质参量及两层手征介质厚度变化等对手征同轴线传播特性的影响。如果互易手征介质的手征参数等于零,可得填充普通介质的同轴线的模式特征方程。与填充普通介质的同轴线中的模式相比,手征同轴线中的模式发生了分叉。当同轴线中所填介质的折射率增大时,其模式归一化截止频率和进行基模单模传输的带宽归一化频率都将减小。  相似文献

The characteristics of electromagnetic waves in a narrowing waveguide are investigated. A method for field analysis is developed based on the application of transverse modes parametrically dependent on the longitudinal coordinate. For a circular cross section waveguide, a system of equations for the wave amplitudes is obtained, the waves being coupled owing to a variable tilt of the walls. It is shown that in the adiabatic approximation, there exist independent eigenwaves whose structure reflects the field energy density variation due to the waveguide radius variation. A detailed analytical and numerical investigation of these fields has been carried out for a waveguide with a special profile of hypergeometric type. The applicability of the adiabatic approximation is studied and conversion of the fundamental mode into higher-order modes is assessed. The amplitudes of the higher-order modes are obtained using the Green function for ordinary differential equations. The region of the waveguide parameters is found where the higher-order mode amplitudes are not great and the adiabatic approximation is highly accurate. The dependence of the transmittance of a semi-infinite waveguide on the input radiation characteristics is obtained. It is established that the field amplitudes at the waveguide output strongly depend on the wavelength of the input radiation, on its transverse structure, and the waveguide profile steepness. The greatest output fields take place in the case of an abrupt dependence of the waveguide radius on the longitudinal coordinate.  相似文献

In this present communication, we introduce a new type of annular optical waveguide whose outer cladding is made of sheath helix. The sheath helix is made up of the dielectric material of lower refractive index than the core materials. Using vector approach, the general characteristic equation for the proposed waveguide has been derived. The modal dispersion characteristics for the lowest-order modes for different pitch angles are determined and analyzed. We observe that there is no effect of pitch angles on dispersion curve nearly up to 89° but drastic change is observed at 90° and above pitch angle. On comparison of helically inner cladded annular circular waveguide, we have found that there is not the existence of the negative dispersion curve and photonic band gap in the helically outer cladded annular circular waveguide. It means only the inner cladding is responsible for the negative dispersion as well as photonic band gap. There is no effect of the outer cladding.  相似文献

We design coupled optical microcavities and report directional light emission from high-Q modes for a broad range of refractive indices. The system consists of a circular cavity that provides a high-Q mode in the form of a whispering gallery mode, whereas an adjacent deformed microcavity plays the role of a waveguide or collimator of the light transmitted from the circular cavity. As a result of this very simple, yet robust, concept we obtain high-Q modes with promising directional emission characteristics. No information about phase space is required, and the proposed scheme can be easily realized in experiments.  相似文献

An extension of the circular Fourier analysis of the mode field is presented that makes it possible to obtain a successively correctable solution to the scalar waveguide problem posed for 3D optical waveguides.
