Using the intensity-dependent complex dielectric function for a two-photon absorption resonance we derive the Langevin equation for the fluctuating light-field in the non-linear resonator. The corresponding Fokker-Planck equation is solved by expanding the distribution function in terms of products of trigonometric functions and generalized Laguerre polynomials. The expansion coefficients are calculated using the method of matrix continued fractions. Numerical results for the stationary case are given.  相似文献

Interpretation of experiments on quantum dot (QD) lasers presents a challenge: the phonon bottleneck, which should strongly suppress relaxation and dephasing of the discrete energy states, often seems to be inoperative. We suggest and develop a theory for an intrinsic mechanism for dephasing in QDs: second-order elastic interaction between quantum dot charge carriers and LO phonons. The calculated dephasing times are of the order of 200 fs at room temperature, consistent with experiments. The phonon bottleneck thus does not prevent significant room temperature dephasing.  相似文献

The direct excitation of excitonic molecule due to the two-photon absorption process is shown to be strongly enhanced because of two effects of the resonance and the giant oscillator strength as known for the bound exciton. Then it is pointed out that the existence of the excitonic molecule can be confirmed also by this two-photon absorption spectroscopy. This work extends our previous studies of two-photon annihilation into baryon-antibaryon pairs from spin-1/2 octet to spin-3/2 decuplet baryons. Our approach is based on perturbative QCD and treats baryons as quark-diquark systems. Using the same model parameters as in our previous work, supplemented by QCD sum-rule results for decuplet baryon wave functions, we are able to give absolute predictions for decuplet baryon cross sections without introducing new parameters. We find that the cross section is of the same order of magnitude as the proton cross section, well within experimental bounds.Received: 11 November 2004, Published online: 11 January 2005C.F. The excitation spectrum arising from the interaction between two identical two-level atoms, one of which is excited in the presence of a strong electromagnetic field (pump field), is investigated when the atomic transition frequency is nearly twice the frequency of the pump field. The excitation spectrum consists of those describing the symmetric and antisymmetric modes, respectively. The spectral functions for the symmetric and antisymmetric modes are derived and discussed in detail. The possibility to measure directly the magnitude of the dipole-dipole interaction energy is discussed.  相似文献

We have calculated the Green function describing the physical process where a three level atom interacts with a strong pump field as well as with a weak perturbing signal field in the limit of high photon densities. The theory is then used to describe the cooperative two-photon resonance fluorescence which occurs when the sum of the two atomic transition frequencies is nearly twice the frequency of the pump field. Our atomic system is equivalent to a two-level atom when the degeneracy of the ground state is removed by a Stark field. The excitation spectrum has been found to consist of new bands and sidebands which exist only in the presence of the Stark field. The resonance process which occurs when the Stark splitting is in the neighbourhood of the energy shift induced by the laser field has been discussed in detail.  相似文献

Multimode triggered optical superradiance due to a two-photon transition is theoretically studied. Kinetic equations are derived for the dynamics of cooperative development of coherence and population inversion of optical centers interacting with each other through a common field of emitted photons. Various regimes of triggering of optical superradiance due to a two-photon transition are considered. The possibility of creating a quantum photomultiplier on the basis of the triggered optical superradiance is discussed.  相似文献

The fractional quantum Hall effect has been predicted to occur in the absence of magnetic fields and at high temperature in lattice systems that have flat bands with a nonzero Chern number. We demonstrate that orbital degrees of freedom in frustrated lattice systems lead to a narrowing of topologically nontrivial bands. This robust effect does not rely on fine-tuned long-range hopping parameters and is directly relevant to a wide class of transition-metal compounds.  相似文献

This paper predicts that grey spatial solitons can exist in two-photon photorefractive materials. In steady state and under appropriate external bias conditions, it obtains the grey spatial soliton solutions of the optical wave evolution equation. The intensity profile, phase distribution,and transverse velocity of these grey solitons are discussed.  相似文献

We calculate the effects on the elastic electron-proton scattering cross section of the two-photon exchange contribution with an intermediate Delta resonance. The Delta two-photon exchange contribution is found to be smaller in magnitude than the previously evaluated nucleon contribution, with an opposite sign at backward scattering angles. The sum of the nucleon and Delta two-photon exchange corrections has an angular dependence compatible with both the polarization-transfer and the Rosenbluth methods of measuring the nucleon electromagnetic form factors.  相似文献

Eikonal method is applied to investigate the quantum effects on elastic electron–ion collisions in a two-component plasma. An effective Kelbg potential model taking into account the classical effect as well as the quantum-mechanical effect is applied to describe the electron–ion interactions in a two-component plasma. The impact parameter method is applied to represent the path of the projectile electron in order to investigate the variation of the eikonal cross section as a function of the impact parameter, thermal de Broglie wavelength, and projectile energy. In the second-order eikonal approximation, the quantum effects significantly reduce the elastic electron–ion scattering cross section. It is also found that the second-order eikonal phase is caused by the pure quantum mechanical effects.  相似文献

We present theoretical and experimental studies of the decoherence of hyperfine ground-state superpositions due to elastic Rayleigh scattering of light off resonant with higher lying excited states. We demonstrate that under appropriate conditions, elastic Rayleigh scattering can be the dominant source of decoherence, contrary to previous discussions in the literature. We show that the elastic-scattering decoherence rate of a two-level system is given by the square of the difference between the elastic-scattering amplitudes for the two levels, and that for certain detunings of the light, the amplitudes can interfere constructively even when the elastic-scattering rates from the two levels are equal. We confirm this prediction through calculations and measurements of the total decoherence rate for a superposition of the valence electron spin levels in the ground state of 9Be+ in a 4.5?T magnetic field.  相似文献
