Nonlinear optical properties of Basic Violet 16 dye solution in water are studied employing different optical techniques. Experiments are performed using the second harmonic of a continuous Nd-Yag laser beam at 532 nm wavelength and 100 mW power. The effect of nonlinearity of Basic Violet 16 dye in broadening the laser beam is observed. The optical limiting behavior is investigated by measuring the transmission of the samples. The third-order nonlinearity, χ3 of Basic Violet 16 dye, is measured using Z-scan data. The nonlinear absorption coefficient is calculated using the open aperture Z-scan data, while its nonlinear refractive index is measured using the closed aperture Z-scan data. All experiments are done for different concentrations and thicknesses of Basic Violet 16 dye solution. The effect of intensity of input laser beam on the nonlinear susceptibility is studied experimentally. Results indicate that Basic Violet 16 dye is a potential candidate for low-power optical limiting applications.  相似文献

Dye decolorization is currently measured by the reduction of dye absorption, based on its linear optical properties in solution. However, this method is not suitable for high dye concentrations with linear attributes in the absorption spectra. In this work, nonlinear optical properties are used to study dye decolorization of Crocin and Rhodamine B treated with a bacterial laccase. For this purpose, the Z-scan was used to obtain the nonlinear refractive indices and nonlinear absorption coefficient of Rhodamine B and Crocin in the presence and absence of the bacterial laccase enzyme. The results showed that nonlinear optical properties could be used to study dye decolorization in solutions.  相似文献

Nonlinear optical properties of a standard dye IR26 have been studied by using the Z-scan technique to decipher the difference in the mechanism of nonlinear absorption on picosecond time scale at two wavelengths i.e. at 1064 nm and 532 nm. A prominent contribution of nonlinear absorption is observed in the Z-scan profiles at 1064 nm. The dye exhibits the mechanism of self-defocusing at 1064 nm in contrast to that of self-focusing at 532 nm. While the two photon absorption has been found to be the dominant mechanism of reverse saturable absorption at 1064 nm, the mechanism of excited state absorption is operating at 532 nm. Additionally, the optical phase conjugate geometry of degenerate four wave mixing (DFWM) technique has been used to measure the third order nonlinear susceptibility values at 532 nm to compare with those obtained from the Z-scan profiles.  相似文献

We have investigated the effect of DNA on nonlinear absorption of PicoGreen dye using single beam open aperture Z-scan technique in nanosecond regime. We observed reverse saturable absorption at 532 nm for PicoGreen without DNA. In the presence of DNA, the sample begins to behave like saturable absorbers and this effect increased as the concentration of DNA was increased. The dye-intercalated DNA showed SA characteristics near the focus but exhibited RSA characteristics at the focus. Theoretical analysis has been performed using a two-photon absorption model based on nonlinear absorption coefficient and saturation intensity. Such tailoring of optical nonlinear absorption in PicoGreen makes it a potential candidate for photonic application.  相似文献

The optical nonlinearity of styryl7 dye in ethanol solution at different concentrations has been studied using pulsed Nd:YAG laser at 532 nm as the source of excitation. The optical responses were characterized by measuring the intensity dependent refractive index (n2) of the medium using the Z-scan technique. The open aperture Z-scan trace of the dye in solution displayed saturable absorption. The closed aperture Z-scan trace of the dye exhibited a negative nonlinearity. The styryl7 dye at 1 mM concentration exhibited nonlinear refractive co-efficient n2 = −1.24 × 10−8 cm2/W, nonlinear absorption coefficient β = − 3.9 × 10−4 cm/W and real and imaginary parts of third-order nonlinear optical susceptibility χ3 = 3.26 × 10−6 esu in ethanol. These results showed that the dye has potential application in nonlinear optics.  相似文献

以菲涅尔-基尔霍夫衍射理论为基础,建立了非线性介质对高斯光束的衍射模型,对高斯光束通过非线性介质后的传输行为进行了详细的理论推导和数值计算,从一种新的角度解释了Z-扫描现象.理论推导出了考虑双光子吸收的闭孔和开孔Z-扫描曲线的统一公式,是计算非线性折射率和双光子吸收系数的一种新方法.数值模拟计算表明,对于考虑双光子吸收的闭孔Z-扫描曲线,其结果与经典的Z-扫描理论完全一致.而对于已给定的开孔Z-扫描曲线,用该理论计算出的双光子吸收系数是经典开孔Z-扫描理论计算值的1/3,其它结论与传统Z-扫描理论完全吻合.该理论的近似条件只要求薄样品和小非线性吸收,比传统理论具有更好的准确性.  相似文献

The nonlinear optical properties of an azo-based dye were investigated using Z-scan technique employing 38 ps pulses at 532 and 1064 nm, and 6 ns laser pulses at 532 nm. Large nonlinear absorption and nonlinear refraction were observed at both ps and ns 532 nm in the azoic dye. When excited at ps 1064 nm, this dye displayed a large two-photon absorption cross-section (σ2=1810 GM). Meanwhile, the optical nonlinearity mechanism was discussed in terms of molecular structure, excitation wavelength, and pulse width.  相似文献

基于飞秒激发Z扫描实验技术,研究了氮化镓薄膜和不同铝掺杂含量的掺铝氮化镓(以下简称铝镓氮)薄膜的超快非线性光学响应特性。在开孔Z-scan测试中,纯Ga N晶体薄膜表现出典型的双光子吸收特性,双光子吸收系数为3.5 cm/GW,且随着激发光强的增大而逐渐减小。随后测试了不同铝掺杂含量的Al_xGa_(1-x)N薄膜的非线性吸收系数。结果表明,随着铝掺杂摩尔分数的提高(0,19%,32%,42%),非线性吸收系数逐渐减小(18,10,6,5.6 cm/GW)。结合半导体非线性吸收理论分析,Al_xGa_(1-x)N薄膜材料的非线性过程主要是双光子吸收主导非线性响应物理过程。实验结果与半导体双光子吸收过程Sheik-Bahae理论符合得很好。  相似文献

研究了溶剂性质对光致变色材料乙基红光学性质的影响.用吸收谱测定了乙基红染料在不同溶剂中的溶剂化位移.对相同浓度多种乙基红溶液进行了Z-scan测量,测量了不同乙基红溶液的光限幅效应,并讨论了其与溶剂之间的关系.随极性增加,吸收谱蓝移,可以通过选择不同溶剂,改变非线性材料的应用窗口.实验结果表明,在连续光照射下,乙基红溶液的非线性折射主要由热效应引起,非线性折射系数n2受溶剂的热学性质影响较大.此外,Z-scan结果中的非线性吸收为饱和吸收.至于光限幅效应,主要受热效应影响,但亦可由吸收谱预测出在某波长处的动态范围.得出的结论有助于偶氮染料作为非线性材料的应用.  相似文献

By using the Adomian decomposition method, we present the transmitted optical intensity of a nonlinear medium with the concurrence of saturable absorption (SA) and two-photon absorption (TPA) processes. We obtain the analytical expression of the open-aperture Z-scan and investigate the interplay between SA and TPA in the Z-scan trace. Through Z-scan measurements at different levels of laser intensities, both the saturable intensity and TPA coefficient could be obtained quickly yet unambiguously.  相似文献

Laser induced third-order nonlinear optical responses of Brilliant Green solution (which belongs to triphenylmethane organic dye group) was investigated by utilizing single beam Z-scan technique using a continuous wave He-Ne laser at the wavelength of 632.8 nm. It was observed that the material exhibits self-defocusing and saturation absorption type optical nonlinearity behavior. The measurements of the real and imaginary parts of the third-order nonlinear optical susceptibility were carried out at several incident laser irradiations and different dye concentrations. It was found that the increase in any of the incident laser intensity or solution concentration leads to the linear increase of the nonlinear refractive index. The obtained values of the third-order nonlinearities of Brilliant Green solutions are amongst the highest reported CW regimes, to the best of our knowledge. This study shows a great potential of the Brilliant Green for the application in nonlinear optical devices.  相似文献

We prepared Ag(x)(As0.4Se0.6)(100-x) chalcogenide glasses by a melt-quenching method and measured their linear and nonlinear optical properties to evaluate their potential applications to all-optical ultrafast switching devices. Their nonlinear refraction and absorption were measured by the Z-scan method at 1.05 microm. The addition of Ag to As2Se3 glass led to an increase in the nonlinear refractive index without introducing an increase in the nonlinear absorption coefficient. The glass with a Ag content of x = 20 at. % revealed high nonlinearity ranging from 2000 to 27,000 times that of fused silica, depending on the incident optical intensity.  相似文献

Solid-state dye-doped polymers are attractive alternatives to the conventional liquid-dye solutions. In this paper, the spectral characteristics and nonlinear properties of the dye Methyl violet 2B has been studied. The third-order nonlinear optical properties of Methyl violet 2B dye in ethanol and a dye-doped polymer film were measured by the Z-scan technique. This material exhibits a negative optical nonlinearity. The dye exhibited a nonlinear refractive coefficient (n 2 = ?4.14 × 10?7 and ?4.291 × 10?7 cm2/W in liquid and solid media, respectively), nonlinear absorption coefficient (β = ?4.634 × 10?3 and ?4.66 × 10?3 cm/W in liquid and solid media, respectively), and susceptibility (χ(3) = 1.88 × 10?5 and 1.963 × 10?5 esu in liquid and solid media, respectively). These results show that Methyl violet 2B dye has potential applications in nonlinear optics.  相似文献

以532nm皮秒脉冲作抽运光,采用单光束Z-扫描技术对具有激发态分子内质子转移效应的有机分子2-(2′-羟基苯基)苯并噻唑(HBT)在其双光子吸收区的非线性光学特性进行了研究.实验结果表明,对532nm波长的光,HBT分子存在明显的双光子吸收.通过拟合开孔Z-扫描实验数据,求解了HBT分子在其双光子吸收区的非线性吸收系数,并探讨了抽运光强度对介质双光子吸收效应的影响.采用高斯分解法,通过拟合闭孔Z-扫描除以开孔Z-扫描数据,理论推导并计算了在介质对抽运光存在非线性吸收的情况下HBT分子的非线性折射率,以及不同入射光强度时HBT分子的三阶非线性极化率实部和虚部的值.计算结果表明,理论分析与实验结果较好地符合,这些结果为进一步研究和开发此类材料的应用提供了理论与实验依据.  相似文献

The third-order nonlinear optical response of a triphenylmethane dye (Acid blue 7) was studied using the Z-scan technique with a continuous-wave He–Ne laser radiation at 633 nm. The magnitude and sign of the third-order nonlinear refractive index n2 of aqueous solution of Acid blue 7 dye were determined; the negative sign indicates a self-defocusing optical nonlinearity in the sample studied. The negative nonlinear refractive index n2 and nonlinear absorption coefficient β were estimated to be −1.88 × 10−7 cm2/W and −3.08 × 10−3 cm/W, respectively, corresponding to Re(χ(3)) = −8.35 × 10−6 esu, and Im(χ(3)) = −6.88 × 10−7 esu. The experimental results show that Acid blue 7 dye have potential applications in nonlinear optics.  相似文献

A femtosecond differential optical Kerr gate (DOKG) and Z-scan techniques, have been applied to investigate the third-order optical nonlinearity of composite film of the coordination complex [PdLPPh3] (L=N-(2-pyridyl)-N′-(salicylidene)hydrazine, PPh3=triphenylphosphine). Film exhibits superior nonlinear optical properties in the near-infrared spectral region. The nonlinear response time and third-order nonlinear optical susceptibility of complex were found to be≤90 fs and 3.9×10?10 esu, respectively. The Z-scan result shows that saturable absorption property of the film and its nonlinear absorption coefficient of the sample was found to be ?23 cm/GW.  相似文献

With picosecond pulses at the wavelength of 532 nm, we have determined the optical nonlinear refractive and absorptive parameters of the dye N,N′-bis(2,5-di-tert-butylphenyl)-3,4,9,10-perylenedicarboximide (DBPI) by a single closed-aperture (CA) Z-scan technique. This technique uses a theoretical model that elucidates the refractive and absorptive optical nonlinearity present simultaneously in the CA Z-scan profile. The observed remarkable red shift in the absorption spectrum of the dye in the acidic medium as compared to that in the polar medium has been used to vary the optical density at a single frequency. We find that the effect of saturable absorption (SA) is complete at higher concentrations. The effect of reverse saturable absorption (RSA) is dominating in dilute concentrations. The observed variations in the excited state refractive cross-section (σr) with the concentration and the energy have been attributed to the contributions of higher order nonlinearity along with the existing third-order nonlinearity.  相似文献
