This paper was originally designated as a Comment on the paper by R. Jackiw and V. A. Kostelecky, Phys. Rev. Lett. 82, 3572 (1999). It gives an example of a fermionic system in which the CPT-odd Chern-Simons terms in the effective action are unambiguously induced by chiral fermions: superfluid 3He-A. In this system the Lorentz and gauge invariances are both violated at high energy, but the behavior of the system beyond
the cutoff is known. This allows one to construct a CPT-odd action which combines the conventional 3+1 CS term and the mixed axial-gravitational CS term discussed by G. E. Volovik

field has been observed experimentally in rotating 3He-A.

A gauge invariant block diagonalization of the fermionic part of the Wilson action is proposed, which cuts down the fermionic degrees of freedom by a factor of 16 in each step, keeping unaltered the infrared behaviour of the spectrum. 相似文献

The chiral superfield model associated with the low-energy limit of superstring theory and characterized by the Kähler and the chiral potential [K(Φ, $\overline \Phi$ ) and W(Φ), respectively] is analyzed. An approach to solving a general problem is developed, and quantum loop corrections at arbitrary K(Φ, $\overline \Phi$ ) and W(Φ) are found. Various aspects of a supergraph technique that are associated with calculating perturbative contributions to the superfield effective action are analyzed. Explicit expressions for the one-and two-loop corrections to the Kähler potential are calculated. The leading two-loop correction to the chiral potential is obtained, and it is shown that, irrespective of the form of K(Φ, $\overline \Phi$ ) and W(Φ), counterterms are not needed for deducing this correction. 相似文献

The phase transition of the Gross-Neveu model with N fermions is investigated by means of a nonperturbative evolution equation for the scale dependence of the effective average action. The critical exponents and scaling amplitudes are calculated for various values of N in d = 3. It is also explicitly verified that the Neveu-Yukawa model belongs to the same universality class as the Gross-Neveu model. 相似文献

We study the possibility to realize a Majorana zero mode that is robust and may be easily manipulated for braiding in quantum computing in the ground state of the Kitaev model in this work. To achieve this we first apply a uniform [111] magnetic field to the gapless Kitaev model and turn the Kitaev model to an effective p+ip topological superconductor of spinons. We then study possible vortex binding in such system to a topologically trivial spot in the ground state. We consider two cases in the system: one is a vacancy and the other is a fully polarized spin. We show that in both cases, the system binds a vortex with the defect and a robust Majorana zero mode in the ground state at a weak uniform [111] magnetic field. The distribution and asymptotic behavior of these Majorana zero modes are studied. The Majorana zero modes in both cases decay exponentially in space, and are robust against local perturbations and other Majorana zero modes far away, which makes them promising candidates for braiding in topological quantum computing. 相似文献

The consistency of the dual fermion model is further explored by showing the completeness of the transverse fermion physical states, in various situations, when the fermion ground state mass is zero. To this end the fermion physical state projection operator is constructed. A detailed direct proof of the absence of ghosts is given. The absence of fermion ghosts in twisted configurations is shown to require delicate cancellations. Comparison with the Neveu-Schwarz model indicates possible difficulties with the twisting operator. 相似文献

We propose an improved fermion action on the lattice by adding a next nearest neightbor interaction term to Wilson action. The proposed action is expected to approach the continuum limit more rapidly. Using the improved action, the predictions for the critical value of the hopping parameter at weak and strong coupling are given. The chiral Schwinger model's fermionic sector is studied by comparing the fermion propagator of the original Jackiw-Rajaraman formulation with a propagator in the gauge invariant formulation. The main difference consists in the existence of fermionic single particle states in the original formulation, while there are no such states in the gauge invariant formulation. It is suggested that this difference is caused by renormalization, which changes the Hilbert space. 相似文献
