For a bounded regular Jordan domain in R 2, we introduce and study a new class of functions K() related on its Green function G. We exploit the properties of this class to prove the existence and the uniqueness of a positive solution for the singular nonlinear elliptic equation u+(x,u)=0, in D(), with u=0 on and uC(), where is a nonnegative Borel measurable function in ×(0,) that belongs to a convex cone which contains, in particular, all functions (x,t)=q(x)t ,>0 with nonnegative functions qK(). A new two-scale expansion is proposed for eigenfunctions of bouncing-ball type and the corresponding eigenvalues of the Laplace operator with the Dirichlet condition in a domain of the plane. The eigenfunctions are concentrated in a neighborhood of a stable diameter of the domain and are numbered with two indices (p, q) where p is the number of longitudinal nodes and q the number of nodes in a direction orthogonal to the diameter. In this paper, we give a new branch and bound algorithm for the global optimization problem with bound constraints. The algorithm is based on the use of inclusion functions. The bounds calculated for the global minimum value are proved to be correct, all rounding errors are rigorously estimated. Our scheme attempts to exclude most uninteresting parts of the search domain and concentrates on its promising subsets. This is done as fast as possible (by involving local descent methods), and uses little information as possible (no derivatives are required). Numerical results for many well-known problems as well as some comparisons with other methods are given.  相似文献

The number of subgroups of type and cotype in a finite abelian p-group of type is a polynomialg with integral coefficients. We prove g has nonnegative coefficients for all partitions and if and only if no two parts of differ by more than one. Necessity follows from a few simple facts about Hall-Littlewood symmetric functions; sufficiency relies on properties of certain order-preserving surjections that associate to each subgroup a vector dominated componentwise by . The nonzero components of (H) are the parts of , the type of H; if no two parts of differ by more than one, the nonzero components of – (H) are the parts of , the cotype of H. In fact, we provide an order-theoretic characterization of those isomorphism types of finite abelian p-groups all of whose Hall polynomials have nonnegative coefficients.  相似文献

We give a refined analysis of the Hölder regularity for the limit functions arising from a nonlinear pyramid algorithm for robust removal of non-Gaussian noise proposed by Donoho and Yu [6,7,17]. The synthesis part of this algorithm can be interpreted as a nonlinear triadic subdivision scheme where new points are inserted based on local quadratic polynomial median interpolation and imputation. We introduce the analogon of the Donoho–Yu scheme for dyadic refinement, and show that its limit functions are in C for >log4(128/31)=1.0229.... In the triadic case, we improve the lower bound of >log2(135/121)=0.0997... previously obtained in [6] to >log3(135/53)=0.8510.... These lower bounds are relatively close to the anticipated upper bounds of log2(16/7)=1.1982... in the dyadic, respectivly 1 in the triadic cases, and have been obtained by deriving recursive inequalities for the norm of second rather than first order differences of the sequences arising in the subdivision process.  相似文献

In this paper, the -subdifferential is introduced for investigating the global behavior of real-valued functions on a normed spaceX. Iff: DX attains its global minimum onD atx *, then 0 f(x *). This necessary condition always holds, even iff is not continuous orx * is at the boundary of its domain. Nevertheless, it is useful because, by choosing a suitable +, many local minima cannot satisfy this necessary condition. For the sufficient conditions, the so-called -convex functions are defined. The class of these functions is rather large. For example, every periodic function on the real line is a -convex function. There are -convex functions which are not continuous everywhere. Every function of bounded variation can be represented as the difference of two -convex functions. For all that, -convex functions still have properties similar to those of convex functions. For instance, each -local minimizer off is at the same time a global one. Iff attains its global minimum onD, then it does so at least at one point of its -boundary.This research was supported by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. The author thanks Professors R. We prove that F; may also be written as F;(u)= Buudx with B=AP A for a matrix P which is the matrix of an orthogonal projection.
