Recording radio emission from extensive air showers (EASs) is considered now as a new promising method for detecting ultra-high energy (E 0 > 5 × 1016 eV) cosmic rays. The results of calculation of EAS radio emission at frequencies from 40 to 80 MHz in the EAS energy range E 0 = 1014–1017 eV are reported here, and the possibilities of determining EAS parameters from the radio emission lateral distribution are discussed.  相似文献

The method of separating muons and hadrons recorded by the Muon Detector of the Carpet-2 air shower array of Baksan Neutrino Observatory (Institute for Nuclear Research, Russian Academy of Sciences) is described. The results of studying characteristics of the muon and hadron components of extensive air showers (EAS) with N e ≥ 105 are presented. For the range of distances 40–55 m from shower axes the numbers of hadrons with energies higher than 30 GeV and muons with energies above 1 GeV are obtained as functions of the shower size N e .  相似文献

The results are presented that were obtained by analyzing arrival directions for cosmic rays that the Yakutsk array for studying extensive air showers recorded between 1974 and 2002 in the energy region E0 ≥ 5 × 1017 eV for zenith angles in the region θ ≤ 60°. It is shown that quasars for which the red shift lies in the region z ≤ 2.5 can be sources of these cosmic rays. Ordered structures are observed in the disposition of quasars and in the cosmic-ray arrival directions. These structures can be associated in one way or another with the large-scale structure of the Universe.  相似文献

None of the presently known local sources of photons whose energy exceeds 1012 eV is incompatible with the universal energy spectrum F(>E γ ) ~ E γ ?1.36±0.15 . The power of extragalactic sources is 106 to 1012 times higher than the power of galactic sources since the respective distances are longer in the former case, while the observed flux intensities are approximately identical in the two cases. A much higher power of extragalactic sources is indicative of an extragalactic cosmic-ray origin and of the existence of a universal (for all energies of protons and cosmic-ray nuclei) process that is responsible for the energy loss in the Metagalaxy and which forms the observed energy spectrum of protons and nuclei (~E 0 ?2.72 ). It is shown that there is no break in the energy spectrum of primary protons in the energy range 1015–1016 eV and that the break in the spectrum of extensive air showers with respect to the number of electrons is due to a change in the process of multiparticle hadron generation in the first event of extensive-air-shower production, this being confirmed by a change in the extensive-air-shower absorption length from λa<90 g/cm2 before the break to λa>150 g/cm2 after the break.  相似文献

The arrival directions of extensive air showers are analyzed on the basis of world data. It is found that the zenith-angle distributions for energies E>1019 eV and E>4×1019 eV differ from each other. According to our estimates, the SUGAR array detects no showers above 1020 eV. The mass composition of ultrahigh-energy cosmic rays is estimated. Cosmic rays with E>4×1019 eV most likely consist of superheavy nuclei.  相似文献

Several energy spectra of cosmic rays with energies E 0 ≥ 1017 eV measured at the Yakutsk EAS, AGASA, Haverah Park, HiRes, Auger, and SUGAR arrays are considered. It is shown that the fairly good mutual agreement of the spectrum shapes can be achieved if the energy of each spectrum is multiplied by a factor K specific for each spectrum. These factors exhibit a pronounced dependence on the latitude of the above-mentioned arrays.  相似文献

The experimental measurement data on the fine structure of beta-decay strength function Sβ(E) in spherical, transitional, and deformed nuclei are analyzed. Modern high-resolution nuclear spectroscopy methods made it possible to identify the splitting of peaks in Sβ(E) for deformed nuclei. By analogy with splitting of the peak of E1 giant dipole resonance (GDR) in deformed nuclei, the peaks in Sβ(E) are split into two components from the axial nuclear deformation. In this report, the fine structure of Sβ(E) is discussed. Splitting of the peaks connected with the oscillations of neutrons against protons (E1GDR), of proton holes against neutrons (peaks in Sβ(E) of β+/EC-decay), and of protons against neutron holes (peaks in Sβ(E) of β-decay) is discussed.  相似文献

A Monte-Carlo program has been used for the calculation of electron-photon cascade showers in lead. Bremsstrahlung, electron-electron scattering, multiple scattering, ionization loss, pair creation, Compton effect, and photoelectric effect are taken into account, with empirically corrected values for the cross-sections of these processes. Electrons are followed down toE e =1,5 MeV and photons toE γ =0,25. After a comparison of the Monte-Carlo results with available experimental data, the following distributions for electrons and photons are presented for primary electrons incident on lead with energiesE 0=100, 200, 400 and 1000 MeV and depthst ranging from 0,5 to 25X 0:

Results are presented that were obtained by analyzing the energy spectrum and anisotropy of E 0 ≥ 1017 eV primary cosmic rays on the basis of data accumulated at the Yakutsk array for studying extensive air showers over the period between 1974 and 2004. It is shown that spectra corresponding to different regions of the sky differ in shape. Particle fluxes going from the Galaxy and Supergalaxy (a local supercluster of galaxies) disks are enhanced for E 0 ≥ 5 × 1018 eV and are reduced for E 0 ≤ (2–3) × 1018 eV. This observation is interpreted as a manifestation of the possible interaction between extragalactic primary cosmic rays and matter of the above structures of space.  相似文献

The photoelectric properties of TlGa1?xYbxS2 (x = 0, 0.01) single crystals are investigated. It is established that partial substitution of ytterbium for gallium leads to (i) an increase in the electrical resistivity of the samples, (ii) a shift in the maximum of the intrinsic photocurrent toward the long-wavelength range of the spectrum, (iii) a considerable broadening of the spectral sensitivity range, and (iv) an increase in the amplitude of the extrinsic photocurrent. Analysis of the x-ray dosimetric characteristics of the TlGa 1?xYbxS2 single crystals demonstrates that, upon partial substitution of ytterbium for gallium in TlGaS2, the x-ray sensitivity coefficient increases significantly and the current-dose characteristics ΔIE, 0 ~ Eα tend to linearity (α = 1) at low dose rates (E, R/min) of soft x rays. At high dose rates of hard x rays, α tends to 0.5 for both undoped and ytterbium-doped TlGaS2 single crystals.  相似文献

Results are presented that were obtained by analyzing arrival directions for cosmic rays recorded by the Yakutsk array between 1974 and 2001 in the energy range E0=1017.6–17.9 eV for zenith angles in the region θ≤53°. It is shown that their flux consists of two components—an isotropic (about 75%) and a cluster (about 25%) one—that are characterized by sharply different degrees of anisotropy. At E0=1017.7–17.8 eV, the observed showers are found to be strongly correlated with the Supergalaxy plane.  相似文献

The time-of-flight technique is used to measure the ratios R(E, E n )=N(E, E n )/NCf(E) of the normalized (to unity) spectra N(E, E n ) of neutrons accompanying the neutron-induced fission of 238U at primary-neutron energies of E n =6.0 and 7.0 MeV to the spectrum NCf(E) neutrons from the spontaneous fission of 252Cf. These experimental data and the results of their analysis are discussed together with data that were previously obtained for the neutron-induced fission of 238U at the primary energies of E n =2.9, 5.0, 13.2, 14.7, 16.0, and 17.7 MeV.  相似文献

There is evidence for possible clustering in the arrival directions of extensive air showers (EASs). A program for analyzing EAS arrival directions has been developed to investigate this problem and the database of the Moscow State University EAS array for 1982–1989 has been analyzed. The distributions in equatorial coordinates have been derived for cosmic rays with energies E ≥ 2 × 1015 eV and zenith angles <40°. The uniformity of the derived distributions is verified using various statistical tests.  相似文献

Virtual Compton Scattering (VCS) and Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering (DVCS) on the nucleon are two processes accessed via the photon electroproduction reaction (eNeγN). In the first part of this paper we are interested by the DVCS on the neutron. We measured the (D(e, eγ)X-H(e, e'γ)X) unpolarized cross section and we extracted, for the first time, a non-zero contribution of (neutron-DVCS + coherent- deuteron-DVCS) at Q 2 = 1.75 GeV2 and x B = 36 from Jefferson Lab experiment E08-025. VCS on the proton has been studied at Mainz Microtron MAMI at the four-momentum transfer squared Q 2 = 0.5 GeV2, below the pion production threshold. In the second part of this paper we present our preliminary results of the structure functions (P LL ? (P TT/ε)) and P LT, and the electric and magnetic generalized polarizabilities α E (Q 2) and β M (Q 2) extracted from this experiment.  相似文献

Results obtained from an analysis of the energy spectrum of cosmic rays with energies in the region of E0 ≥ 1017 eV over the period of continuous observations from 1974 to 2017 are presented. A refined expression for estimating the primary-particle energy is used for individual events. This expression is derived from calculations aimed at determining the responses of the ground-based and underground scintillation detectors of the Yakutsk array for studying extensive air showers (EAS) and performed within theQGSJET-01-d, QGSJET-II-04, SIBYLL-2.1, and EPOS-LHCmodels by employing the CORSIKA code package. Corrections of the α3, α4, and α5 orders are calculated for the Lamb shift of the 1S and 2S energy levels of muonic hydrogen μp and muonic deuterium μd. The nuclear structure effects are taken into account in terms of the charge radii of the proton r p and deuteron r d for one-photon interaction, as well as in terms of the electromagnetic form factors of the proton and deuteron for the case of one-loop amplitudes. The μdp isotope shift for the 1S-2S splitting is found to be equal to 101003.3495 meV, which can be treated as a reliable estimate when conducting the corresponding experiment with an accuracy of 10?6. The fine-structure intervals E(1S)-8E(2S) in muonic hydrogen and muonic deuteron are calculated.  相似文献

In this paper, we have proposed S U(2) non-Abelian electromagnetism gauge theory. In the theory, photon has self-interaction and interaction between them, which can explain photon entanglement phenomenon in quantum information. Otherwise, we find there are three kinds photons γ +, γ ? and γ 0, they have electric charge + e γ , ? e γ and 0, respectively, these prediction are accordance with some experiment results.  相似文献
