Two types of raw materials, original kaolin sand OKS I and OKS II were used for experiment. They were transformed (1 h at 650 °C with 10 °C/min temperature increase) to burnt kaolin sand (BKS I and BKS II) with pozzolanic properties. Contents of decisive mineral—metakaolinite—in BKSs are as follows: BKS I (fraction below 0.06 mm) 20%; BKS II (fraction below 0.06 mm) 36% and BKS II (fraction below 0.1 mm) 31% by mass. Mortars with blends of Portland cement (PC) and BKS were prepared announced as: MK I (0.06) with 5 and 10% cement substitution by metakaolinite; MK II (0.06) with 5 and 10% cement substitution by metakaolinite and MK II (0.1) with 5, 10, 15 and 20% cement substitution by metakaolinite. The reference mortar with 100% of PC was made for comparison. All mortars were adjusted on the constant workability 180 ± 5 mm flow. Besides significant increase in compressive strengths—the refinement of pore structure in mortars with BKS connected with decreases in permeability and Ca(OH)2 content were revealed. The above facts confirm pozzolanic reaction of BKS in contact with hydrated PC and indicate perceptiveness of BKS for the use in cement-based systems as a pozzolanic addition.  相似文献

The effect of calcium hydroxide (CH) on the properties of Portland–fly ash cement pastes, at up to high-volume fly ash mixes has been investigated using normal consistency, setting time, compressive strength, thermal analysis and scanning electron microscope. CH as an additive material (5 and 10 wt%), lignite fly ash (FA) up to 50 wt% was used to produce Portland cement (PC)–FA–CH pastes at w/PC + FA ratio of 0.5. Water requirement for normal consistency was found to increase with increasing CH content while a decrease in initial setting time was found. Furthermore, the compressive strengths of all FA mixes with CH were found to be higher than the mixes without CH. Thermal analysis and scanning electron microscope were used to study the hydration of PC–FA–CH system. The results showed that the first phase transition detected by thermal analyses was attributed to ettringite, calcium silicate hydrate, gehlenite hydrate and was found to be higher in PC–FA–CH mixes than in pure Portland–FA cement paste resulting in an increase in compressive strength. Moreover, the hydration phases were also found to increase with increasing curing time. Overall, the results show that the additional of 5 wt% CH in Portland–FA mixes especially at high-volume FA mixes was found to accelerate FA pozzolanic reaction at early ages (7 and 28 days), resulting to an increase in compressive strength.  相似文献

Commercial light-cured dental composites were used in this study. Two laboratorial composites, Resilab (Wilcos/Brazil), Epricord (Kuraray/Japan) were compared under cured and uncured conditions. Thermal analysis, infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy were used to evaluate the dental composites. The mass change and heat flow signals (TG–DSC) were recorded simultaneously by using STA 409 PC Luxx (NETZSCH), in the 25–800 °C temperature range at a heating rate of 10 °C/min under nitrogen atmosphere (70 mL/min). Employing thermo-microbalance TG 209 C F1 Iris (NETZSCH) coupled to the BRUKER Optics FTIR TENSOR, the samples were analyzed by combined thermogravimetric and spectroscopic methods (TG–FTIR). The initial sample mass was about ~12 mg, the data collection have been done in the 35–800 °C temperature range at a heating rate of 20 K/min in nitrogen atmosphere (flow rate: 40 mL/min). Finally, superficial topographic was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Dental composite evaluation suggests a high thermal stability and inorganic content in RES D sample. Degrees of conversion (DC) values were almost the same and there was no direct relationship between DC and amount of particles and size. Similar compositions were found in all samples.  相似文献

This paper reports an investigation of the effect of the particle size of kaolin on its transformation to metakaolinite. Kaolin from the island of Milos was either crushed or ground in order to produce four samples with different degrees of fineness (residue at 500 μm: 0–71.8%). The samples were treated thermally under different conditions in order to determine the optimum treatment conditions. The conversion of kaolinite to metakaolinite and the structural changes in the material during treatment were investigated by means of TG and XRD, respectively. Each sample was incorporated into a type I cement, at 20% by mass of cement, and the compressive strengths of the resulting blended cements were measured. It is concluded that the particle size of the raw kaolin does not affect the thermal conversion or the pozzolanic activity of the material. The use of crushed kaolin has many benefits since the furnace load can be increased, while the grinding process is needed only to reduce the size of the metakaolinite particles. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

This paper reviews selected aspects of research work carried out in bioceramics and bioceramic composites at the Ceramics Laboratory IIT, Bombay, India. The focus here is in understanding and developing calcium hydroxyapatite (HA) bioceramics and biocomposites, including calcium hydroxyapatite-titanium (HA-Ti) and calcium hydroxyapatite-polymethylmethacrylate (HA-PMMA). Research involving apatite-wollastonite (AW) bioglass ceramics and bioceramic composites of AW with titanium as well as with polymethylmethacrylate will be presented in a future article. HA powders were precipitated from solutions with varying Ca/P ratios and calcined at a range of temperatures to investigate their structural evolution. HA-Ti composites were prepared by powder metallurgical processes using HA powders calcined at 400 °C, followed by compaction at 600 MPa and subsequent sintering at 1,000–1,200 °C. HA-PMMA composites containing up to 40 wt% PMMA were prepared by hot pressing at 150 °C and 150 MPa pressure. The phases present in the various materials were identified by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and functional groups by FTIR, while the sample morphologies were investigated by SEM. The bioactivity of the composites was evaluated by soaking them in simulated body fluid (SBF) for 7 days, to evaluate their apatite-forming ability (a key indicator of bioactivity). The results obtained are interpreted to aid in the development of “design rules” for the use of such biocomposite materials in specific biomedical application.  相似文献

The thermal processes during progressive calcination of sulfur-rich calcareous oil shales were analyzed using FT-IR spectroscopy and applying curve-fitting technique. The spectroscopic analysis is advantageous in the analysis of amorphous and short-range ordered thermal phases lacking of XRD peaks. The raw calcareous oil shales are composed of organic matter, kaolinite, smectite, calcite, and apatite (francolite). The principal thermal phases are metakaolinite, meta-smectite, free lime, anhydrite, gehlenite, and ellestadite. The thermal reactions observed with increase temperatures includes decomposition of organic matter followed by release of sulfur gas; dehydroxylation of kaolinite; and smectite at 500–600 °C; and thermal transformation to metakaolinite and meta-smectite; decarbonation of microcrystalline calcite to free lime at 600 °C; reaction of the sulfur gas with the free lime; formation of anhydrite at 600 °C; reaction of apatite and formation of ellestadite at 800 °C; reaction of the metakaolinite; the meta-smectite with the free lime; formation of gehlenite at 900 °C. Owingto the sulfatization process, a great part of the sulfur content of the raw oil shales is retained in the calcined ashes and the release of sulfur gas to the atmosphere decreases. Thus, the combustion of calcareous oil shales for energy source has less pollution effect than that of the clayey oil shales. FT-IR spectroscopy and spectral analysis seems to be useful methods for phase analysis of oil shales in combustion industry.  相似文献

The size effect of silica nanoparticles (SiO2) on thermal decomposition of poly(methylmethacrylate) (PMMA) was investigated by the controlled rate thermogravimetry. Thermal degradation temperature of PMMA–SiO2 composites depended on both fraction and size of SiO2, the thermal degradation temperature of 23 nm (diameter) SiO2–PMMA (6.1 wt%) was 13.5 °C higher than that of PMMA. The thermal stabilities of 17 nm SiO2–PMMA (3.2 wt%) and 13 nm SiO2–PMMA (4.8 wt%) were 21 and 23 °C, respectively, higher than that of PMMA without SiO2. The degree of degradation improvement was increased linearly with the surface area of SiO2. The number of surface hydroxyl group in unit volume of SiO2 particle increased with increasing the specific surface area of SiO2, and the interaction between hydroxide group of SiO2 and carbonyl group of PMMA had an important role to improve the thermal stability of PMMA.  相似文献

The main aim of this work was to synthesize the magnesium orthostannate doped by terbium cations and tested whether these materials can be used for colouring of the different materials, e.g. organic binder and ceramic glazes. Initial composition of pigments was counted according the general formula 2MgO(1 − x)SnO2xTbO2, where values of x varied from 0.1 to 0.5 in 0.1 steps. The simultaneous TG/DTA measurements of mixture containing tin oxide, magnesium carbonate hydroxide and terbium oxide showed that the formation of a new compound started at temperature 1,029 °C, but single-phase system was not prepared. Granulometric compositions of samples that were prepared by calcining at temperatures 1,300–1,400 °C are characterized by values of median (d 50) in range 4–8 μm. The calcining temperature 1,500 °C caused the increase of the particle sizes at around 12 μm. The composition of sample 2MgO–1.5SnO2–0.5TbO2 and heating temperature 1,500 °C are the most suitable conditions for preparation of colourfully interesting pigment that can be recommended also for colouring of ceramic glazes. Especially, for colouring of decorative lead containing glaze G 07091 containing 5 wt% of PbO and 8 wt% of Al2O3.  相似文献

Sulphate resistance and passivation ability of the mortars made from pozzolan cement of CEM IV/A (P) type according to European Standard EN 197-1 (zeolite blended cement with 60.82 mass% of PC clinker, 35.09 mass% of zeolite and 4.09 mass% of gypsum abbreviated as ZBC) and ordinary Portland cement (abbreviated as PC) are introduced. Resistance tests were performed in water and 5% sodium sulphate solution (both 20°C) for 720 days. The increased sulphate resistance of pozzolan cement relative to that of PC was found. The key quantitative insight into the hydrate phase behaviour is given by thermal analysis. This is due to pozzolanic reaction of zeolite with PC resulting in reduction of the formed Ca(OH)2 opposite to the reference PC. Ability of pozzolan cements with 15 to 50 mass% of zeolite to protect steel against corrosion was verified in 20°C/85% RH-wet air within 180-day cure. Steel was not corroded in the mortars made with pozzolan cement containing up to 35 mass% of zeolite. Pozzolan cement of CEM IV/A (P) type containing 35 mass% of zeolite is a suitable cementitious material for concrete structures exposed to sulphate attack. Steel is protected against corrosion by this pozzolan cement in the same measure as the reference PC.  相似文献

Aluminum doped zinc oxide (AZO) nanometric particles were synthesized by hydrothermal method. Aluminum nitrate hydrate, aluminum sec-butoxide and zinc nitrate hydrate were used as the starting materials, and n-propanol and 2-butanol were used as solvents. Ratio of Al2O3 in ZnO was kept at 10 wt%. Reaction was conducted in a Teflon autoclave at 175–225 °C for 5 h. Ratios of alcohol, H2O and HCl to zinc nitrate hydrate were altered and 6 different sets of parameters were investigated. Obtained products were subjected to powder-XRD, particle size measurement, TEM examination and AAS analysis. Single phase AZO particles were obtained at alcohol to zinc nitrate ratio of 35, acid to zinc nitrate ratio of 0.2, at 225 °C. Particle size was determined as 3.2 ± 0.4 nm from TEM examinations and as 1–2 nm from dynamic light scattering. Synthesized particles have amphiphilic character, thus they can be dispersed in both polar and non-polar media. It was seen from the UV-diffuse reflectance spectra that the AZO powder had low reflectance in the UV region and high reflectance in the visible region. The obtained powder has the potential to be utilized in the form of thin films for optical and electronic purposes.  相似文献

Thermal decomposition of magnesium salts of organic acids used in medicine (Mg acetate, Mg valproate, Mg lactate, Mg citrate, Mg hydrogen aspartate, Zn hydrogen aspartate) was analyzed by thermoanalytical, calorimetrical, and computational methods. Thermoanalytical studies were performed with aid of a derivatograph. 50-, 100-, and 200-mg samples were heated in a static air atmosphere at a heating rate of 3, 5, 10, and 15 °C min−1 up to the final temperature of 700–900 °C. By differential thermal analysis (DTA), thermogravimetry (TG), and derivative thermogravimetry (DTG) methods, it has been established that thermal decomposition of the salts under study occurs via two stages. The first stage (dehydratation) was distinctly marked on the thermoanalytical curves. Calorimetrical studies were carried out by using of a heat-flux Mettler Toledo differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) system. Ten milligram samples of compounds under study were heated in the temperature range from 20 to 400 °C at a heating rate of 10 and 20 °C min−1 under an air stream. The studies showed that the values of transitions heats and enthalpies of dehydration for investigated salts varied with the increasing of heating rate. For chemometric evaluation of thermoanalytical results, the principal component analysis (PCA) was applied. This method revealed that points on PC1 versus PC2 diagrams corresponding to the compounds of similar chemical constitution are localized in the similar ranges of the first two PC’s values. This proves that thermal decomposition reflects similarity in the structure of magnesium salts of organic acids.  相似文献

The composite nanofibers of xSrSiO3/(100 − x)SrFe12O19 (x = 0–13 wt%) with diameters around 110 nm have been prepared by calcination of the electrospun SrSiO3/SrFe12O19/poly (vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) composite fibers at 800–900 °C. The composite nanofibers were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and vibrating sample magnetometer. After calcined at 800° the M-type strontium ferrite is formed and the strontium silicate exists as an amorphous state when the calcination temperature below about 950 °C. The addition of SrSiO3 has an obvious suppression effect on the strontium ferrite grain growth and the ferrite grain size decreases from 66.9 to 33.5 nm corresponding SrSiO3 content from 0 to 9 wt% in the composite. The specific saturation magnetization (Ms) of the xSrSiO3/(100 − x)SrFe12O19 composite nanofibers exhibits a continuous reduction from 58.0 to 45.6 A m2 kg−1 with the increase of SrSiO3 content from 0 to 13 wt%. With addition of SrSiO3 from 0 to 13 wt%, the coercivity of the composite nanofibers obtained at 900 °C initially increases, reaching a maximum value 501.1 kA m−1 at the silicate content 7 wt%, and then shows a reduction tendency with the strontium silicate content increase further up to 13 wt%. This influence on the coercivity by strontium silicate can be attributed mainly to the ferrite grain growth suppression and the non-magnetic phase barrier for the domains misalignment.  相似文献

The pozzolanic reaction between natural zeolite tuffs, portlandite and water was investigated over the course of the early reaction period up to 3 days. Isothermal conduction calorimetry experiments supplemented by TG/DTG and XRD analyses assisted in the elucidation of the sequence of reaction processes taking place. The calorimetry experiments clearly showed the dependence of the pozzolanic reaction rate and associated heat release on the fineness of the zeolite tuff. Higher external surface areas of pozzolans yield higher total heat releases. Also the exchangeable cation content of the zeolites influences the reaction rate. Release of exchangeable alkalis into solution promotes the pozzolanic reaction by raising the pH and zeolite solubility. The appearance of an exotherm after approximately 3 h of reaction is more conspicuous when alkali-rich zeolites are reacted. This exotherm is conceived to be related to a transformation or rupture of initially formed reaction products covering the zeolite grains. The formation of substantial amounts of ‘stable’ calcium silicate hydrate (C–S–H) and calcium aluminate hydrate (C–A–H) reaction took place after an induction period of more than 6 h. The openness of the zeolite framework affects the proneness of the zeolite to dissolution and thus its reactivity. Open framework zeolites such as chabazite were observed to react much more rapidly than closed framework zeolites such as analcime.  相似文献

Ba1−x Sr x TiO3(x = 0–0.5, BST) nanofibers with diameters of 150–210 nm were prepared by using electrospun BST/polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) composite fibers by calcination for 2 h at temperatures in the range of 650–800 °C in air. The morphology and crystal structure of calcined BST/PVP nanofibers were characterized as functions of calcination temperature and Sr content with an aid of XRD, FT-IR, and TEM. Although several unknown XRD peaks were detected when the fibers were calcined at temperatures less than 750 °C, they disappeared with increasing the temperature (above 750 °C) due to its thermal decomposition and complete reaction in the formation of BST. In addition, the FT-IR studies of BST/PVP fibers revealed that the intensities of the O–H stretching vibration bands (at 3430 and 1425 cm−1) became weaker with increasing the calcination temperature and a broad band at 540 cm−1, Ti–O vibration, appeared sharper and narrower after calcination above 750 °C due to the formation of metal oxide bonds. However, no effect of Sr content on the crystal structure of the composites was detected.  相似文献

This work evaluates the effect of the FCC catalyst components—Y zeolite, kaolin and alumina—on the formation of coke during the cracking of heavy residue (HR) of petroleum. The Y zeolite, kaolin and alumina were mixed with a HR at a ratio of approximately 1:4. The effect was studied using dynamic thermogravimetry at a heating rate of 50 K min−1, with N2 (between 35 and 700 °C) and air (in the 700–1,000 °C temperature range). The HR analyzed in these conditions formed 8.1% of coke. All the mixtures presented larger coke formation than that observed in pure HR. The Y zeolite presented fourfold larger coke formation, while kaolin and alumina showed twofold higher formation than pure HR. The major focus of this study was to verify the sensitivity of the TG technique in providing information about coke formation in the fluid catalytic process of refineries.  相似文献

In the study, the conductive graphite flakes filled poly(urethane-imide) composites (PUI/GFs) with high performance were constructed by the thermal imidization self-foaming reaction. It was found that the foaming action could promote the redistribution of GFs during curing process and the formation of stable linear conductive pathways. The percolation threshold of PUI/GFs composites was lowered from 1.26 wt% (2000 mesh GFs) or 0.86 wt% (1000 mesh GFs) to 0.79 wt% (500 mesh GFs), which were relatively low percolation thresholds for polymer/GFs composites so far. When the content of 500 mesh GFs was 4.0 wt%, the electrical conductivity of the composite was as high as 3.96 × 10?1 S/m. Also, a poly(urethane-imide) (PUI) matrix with excellent thermal stability (Td10%: 334.97 °C) and mechanical properties (elongation at break: 324.52%, tensile strength: 15.88 MPa) was obtained by introducing the rigid aromatic heterocycle into the polyurethane (PU) hard segments. Moreover, the zero temperature coefficient of resistivity for the composites was observed at the temperature range from 30 °C to 200 °C. Consequently, PUI/GFs composites may provide the novel strategy for considerable conductive materials with high thermal stability in electrical conductivity.  相似文献

Hybrid materials were prepared by sol–gel method using Tetraethylortosilicate and Polydimethylsiloxane silanol terminated with the addition of small contents of Zirconium Propoxide ≤5 wt%. The thermal stability of the prepared samples was studied by Infra-red spectroscopy, 29Si Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Thermal Analysis and Scanning Electron Microscopy. All samples were monolithic after drying at 120 °C. After heat treatment at 400 °C the samples prepared with 0 wt% in Zirconium Propoxide present high porosity. It was found that the content in Zirconium Propoxide is directly related with the thermal stability of the hybrid materials prepared in this study.  相似文献

Trichlorofluoromethane (CCl3F) and water form clathrate hydrate which melts at 8.5 °C under atmospheric pressure. By DSC and X rays analysis we could distinguish between hydrate and ice formed in emulsion containing NaCl and show that quantity of hydrate formed and its dissociation temperature are dependent on solution concentration. The equilibrium curve hydrate-NaCl solution is displaced towards higher temperatures with respect to corresponding ice curve. Consequently solid–liquid equilibrium can not be established in presence of both solids. Growth of hydrate crystals at the expense of ice was evidenced. Role of salt in hydrate growth and ice melting is examined.  相似文献

We studied the production of fatty acid ethyl esters from castor oil using n-hexane as solvent and two commercial lipases, Novozym 435 and Lipozyme IM, as catalysts. For this purpose, a Taguchi experimental design was adopted considering the following variables: temperature (35–65°C), water (0–10 wt/wt%), and enzyme (5–20 wt/wt%) concentrations and oil-to-ethanol molar ratio (1∶3 to 1∶10). An empirical model was then built so as to assess the main and cross-variable effects on the reaction conversion and also to maximize biodiesel production for each enzyme. For the system containing Novozym 435 as tatalyst the maximum conversion obtained was 81.4% at 65°C, enzyme concentration of 20 wt/wt%, water concentration of 0 wt/wt%, and oil-to-ethanol molar ratio of 1∶10. When the catalyst was Lipozyme IM, a conversion as high as 98% was obtained at 65°C, enzyme concentration of 20 wt/wt%, water concentration of 0 wt/wt%, and oil-to-ethanol molar ratio of 1∶3.  相似文献

The kinetics of pozzolanic reaction metakaolin–lime is studied in the present work. Metakaolin is prepared by calcination of enriched kaolin (deposit “Senovo”, Bulgaria) at temperature of 830 ± 10 °C in a labscale muffle oven. The reaction is performed in intensively stirred water suspension at different temperatures in the range 20–100 °C. The kinetics is analyzed by comparing the experimental data with theoretical curves, derived according to appropriate kinetic and diffusion models taking into account the grain size distribution of metakaolin. The macroscopic mechanism and activation energy of the reaction are determined. It is found, that the activation energy decreases gradually from 71 to 45 kJ/mol[Ca(OH)2] with the increase of the reaction degree from 0.2 up to 0.6, respectively, which is a characteristic for transition regime reactions.  相似文献
