Prolate spheroidal wavelets (PS wavelets) were recently introduced by the authors. They were based on the first prolate spheroidal wave function (PSWF) and had many desirable properties lacking in other wavelets. In particular, the subspaces belonging to the associated multiresolution analysis (MRA) were shown to be closed under differentiation and translation. In this paper, we introduce periodic prolate spheroidal wavelets. These periodic wavelets are shown to possess properties inherited from PS wavelets such as differentiation and translation. They have the potential for applications in modeling periodic phenomena as an alternative to the usual periodic wavelets as well as the Fourier basis.  相似文献

Directional Poisson wavelets, being directional derivatives of Poisson kernel, are introduced on n-dimensional spheres. It is shown that, slightly modified and together with another wavelet family, they are an admissible wavelet pair according to the definition derived from the theory of approximate identities. We investigate some of the properties of directional Poisson wavelets, such as recursive formulae for their Fourier coefficients or explicit representations as functions of spherical variables (for some of the wavelets). We derive also an explicit formula for their Euclidean limits.  相似文献

Scale-discretised wavelets yield a directional wavelet framework on the sphere where a signal can be probed not only in scale and position but also in orientation. Furthermore, a signal can be synthesised from its wavelet coefficients exactly, in theory and practice (to machine precision). Scale-discretised wavelets are closely related to spherical needlets (both were developed independently at about the same time) but relax the axisymmetric property of needlets so that directional signal content can be probed. Needlets have been shown to satisfy important quasi-exponential localisation and asymptotic uncorrelation properties. We show that these properties also hold for directional scale-discretised wavelets on the sphere and derive similar localisation and uncorrelation bounds in both the scalar and spin settings. Scale-discretised wavelets can thus be considered as directional needlets.  相似文献

我们提出了最优多进Haar小波的概念,证明了其存在性和唯一性,给出了最优多进Haar小波构造的通用方法,并证明了最优多进Haar小波具有线性相位,在消失矩意义下,我们所得到的最优多进Haar小波优于离散余弦变换.同时,我们用图像缩编码的方法验证了最优多进Haar小波的性能优于离散余弦变换的,新的变换可以化为精确的小整数运算,能非常廉价地用集成电路实现,该变换的实用意义在于给图像和视频压缩提供了一个更好的选择.  相似文献

Homogeneous wavelets and framelets have been extensively investigated in the classical theory of wavelets and they are often constructed from refinable functions via the multiresolution analysis. On the other hand, nonhomogeneous wavelets and framelets enjoy many desirable theoretical properties and are often intrinsically linked to the refinable structure and multiresolution analysis. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive study on connecting homogeneous wavelets and framelets to nonhomogeneous ones with the refinable structure. This allows us to understand better the structure of homogeneous wavelets and framelets as well as their connections to the refinable structure and multiresolution analysis.  相似文献

The solution of time-varying delay systems is obtained by using Chebyshev wavelets. The properties of the Chebyshev wavelets consisting of wavelets and Chebyshev polynomials are presented. The method is based upon expanding various time functions in the system as their truncated Chebyshev wavelets. The operational matrix of delay is introduced. The operational matrices of integration and delay are utilized to reduce the solution of time-varying delay systems to the solution of algebraic equations. Illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the technique.  相似文献

Periodic wavelets can be constructed from most standard wavelets by periodization. In this work we first derive some of their properties and then construct the periodic wavelets directly from their Fourier series without reference to standard wavelets. In this paper, vector-valued multiresolution analysis and orthogonal vector-valued wavelets are introduced. The definition for orthogonal vector-valued wavelet packets is proposed. A necessary and sufficient condition on the existence of orthogonal vector-valued wavelets is derived by means of paraunitary vector filter bank theory. An algorithm for constructing a class of compactly supported orthogonal vector-valued wavelets is presented. The properties of the vector-valued wavelet packets are investigated by using operator theory and algebra theory. In particular, it is shown how to construct various orthonormal bases of L2(R, Cs) from the orthogonal vector-valued wavelet packets.  相似文献

We provide an almost sure convergent expansion of fractional Brownian motion in wavelets which decorrelates the high frequencies. Our approach generalizes Lévy's midpoint displacement technique which is used to generate Brownian motion. The low-frequency terms in the expansion involve an independent fractional Brownian motion evaluated at discrete times or, alternatively, partial sums of a stationary fractional ARIMA time series. The wavelets fill in the gaps and provide the necessary high frequency corrections. We also obtain a way of constructing an arbitrary number of non-Gaussian continuous time processes whose second order properties are the same as those of fractional Brownian motion.  相似文献

Non-orthogonal wavelet expansions associated with a class of mother wavelets is considered. This class of wavelets comprises mother wavelets that are not necessarily integrable over the whole real line, such as Shannon's wavelet. The pointwise convergence of these wavelet expansions is investigated. It is shown that, unlike other wavelet expansions, the ones under consideration do not necessarily converge pointwise to the functions at points of continuity, unless a more stringent condition, such as bounded variation, is imposed.

The state analysis and optimal control of time-varying discrete systems via Haar wavelets are the main tasks of this paper. First, we introduce the definition of discrete Haar wavelets. Then, a comparison between Haar wavelets and other orthogonal functions is given. Based upon some useful properties of the Haar wavelets, a special product matrix and a related coefficient matrix are proposed; also, a shift matrix and a summation matrix are derived. These matrices are very effective in solving our problems. The local property of the Haar wavelets is applied to shorten the calculation procedures.  相似文献

Periodic prolate spheroidal wavelets (periodic PS wavelets), based on the periodizaton of the first prolate spheroidal wave function (PSWF), were recently introduced by the authors. Because of localization and other properties, these periodic PS wavelets could serve as an alternative to Fourier series for applications in modeling periodic signals. In this paper, we continue our work with periodic PS wavelets and direct our attention to their construction via interpolation. We show that they have a representation in terms of interpolation with the modified Dirichlet kernel. We then derive a group of formulas of interpolation type based on this representation. These formulas enable one to obtain a simple procedure for the calculation of the periodic PS wavelets and finding expansion coefficients. In particular, they are used to compute filter coefficients for the periodic PS wavelets. This is done for a number of concrete cases.  相似文献

The analysis of oriented features in images requires two-dimensional directional wavelets. Among these, we study in detail the class of Cauchy wavelets, which are strictly supported in a (narrow) convex cone in spatial frequency space. They have excellent angular selectivity, as shown by a standard calibration test, and they have minimal uncertainty. In addition, we present a new application of directional wavelets, namely a technique for determining the symmetries of a given pattern with respect to rotations and dilation.  相似文献

Motivated by image processing and numerical wavelet methods for partial differential equations, we study the theoretical interactions between wavelets and the diffusion equations. Important properties of wavelets, such as the translation and scaling invariance, the p-vanishing-moment condition, and the atomic decomposition, are integrated into the diffusion process and lead to many interesting results.  相似文献

One of the main aims of this paper is to bridge the gap between two branches of mathematics, special functions and wavelets. This is done by showing how special functions can be used to construct orthonormal wavelet bases in a multiresolution analysis setting. The construction uses hypergeometric functions of one and two variables and a generalization of the latter, known as Kampé de Fériet functions. The mother wavelets constructed by this process are entire functions given by rapidly converging power series that allow easy and fast numerical evaluation. Explicit representation of wavelets facilitates, among other things, the study of the analytic properties of wavelets.

MRA wavelets have been widely studied in recent years due to their applications in signal processing. In order to understand the properties of the various MRA wavelets, it makes sense to study the topological structure of the set of all MRA wavelets. In fact, it has been shown that the set of all MRA wavelets (in any given dimension with a fixed expansive dilation matrix) is path-connected. The current paper concerns a class of functions more general than the MRA wavelets, namely normalized tight frame wavelets with a frame MRA structure. More specifically, it focuses on the parallel question on the topology of the set of all such functions (in the given dimension with a fixed dilation matrix): is this set path-connected? While we are unable to settle this general path-connectivity problem for the set of all frame MRA normalized tight frame wavelets, we show that this holds for a subset of it. An s-elementary frame MRA normalized tight frame wavelets (associated with a given expansive matrix A as its dilation matrix) is a normalized tight frame wavelet whose Fourier transform is of the form $\frac{1}{\sqrt{2\pi}}\chi_{E}$ for some measurable set E?? d . In this paper, we show that for any given d×d expansive matrix A, the set of all (A-dilation) s-elementary normalized tight frame wavelets with a frame MRA structure is also path-connected.  相似文献

This paper introduces the application of Haar wavelets to the optimal control synthesis for linear time-varying systems. Based upon some useful properties of Haar wavelets, a special product matrix, a related coefficient matrix, and an operational matrix of backward integration are proposed to solve the adjoint equation of optimization. The results obtained by the proposed Haar approach are almost the same as those obtained by the conventional Riccati method.  相似文献
