The dyadic diaphony, introduced by Hellekalek and Leeb, is a quantitative measure for the irregularity of distribution of point sets in the unit-cube. In this paper we study the dyadic diaphony of digital nets over ℤ2. We prove an upper bound for the dyadic diaphony of nets and show that the convergence order is best possible. This follows from a relation between the dyadic diaphony and the discrepancy. In order to investigate the case where the number of points is small compared to the dimension we introduce the limiting dyadic diaphony, which is defined as the limiting case where the dimension tends to infinity. We obtain a tight upper and lower bound and we compare this result with the limiting dyadic diaphony of a random sample. The first author is supported by the Australian Research Council under its Center of Excellence Program. The second author is supported by the Austrian Research Foundation (FWF), Project S 8305 and Project P17022-N12.  相似文献

We construct a simple transformation whose centralizer is isomorphic to (?)2 ? A ?, where A is an aperiodic automorphism of ?2. As a corollary we obtain an example of a ?2-action \({({T_g})_{g \in {Z^2}}}\) with minimal self-joinings which is conjugate to the (twisted by A) action \({({T_{Ag}})_{g \in {Z^2}}}\). This answers a question of E. Glasner.  相似文献

We obtain formulas for the volume of a spherical tetrahedron with ℤ2-symmetry realized as rotation about the axis passing through the midpoints of a pair of skew edges. We show the dependence of the volume formula on the edge lengths and dihedral angles of the tetrahedron. Several different formulas result whose scopes are determined by the geometric characteristics of the tetrahedron.  相似文献

We consider finite groups G admitting orientation-preserving actions on homology 3-spheres (arbitrary, i.e. not necessarily free actions), concentrating on the case of nonsolvable groups. It is known that every finite group G admits actions on rational homology 3-spheres (and even free actions). On the other hand, the class of groups admitting actions on integer homology 3-spheres is very restricted (and close to the class of finite subgroups of the orthogonal group SO(4), acting on the 3-sphere). In the present paper, we consider the intermediate case of 2-homology 3-spheres (i.e., with the 2-homology of the 3-sphere where 2 denote the integers mod two; we note that these occur much more frequently in 3-dimensional topology than the integer ones). Our main result is a list of finite nonsolvable groups G which are the candidates for orientation-preserving actions on 2-homology 3-spheres. From this we deduce a corresponding list for the case of integer homology 3-spheres. In the integer case, the groups of the list are closely related to the dodecahedral group or the binary dodecahedral group most of these groups are subgroups of the orthogonal group SO(4) and hence admit actions on S3. Roughly, in the case of 2-homology 3-spheres the groups PSL(2,5) and SL(2,5) get replaced by the groups PSL(2,q) and SL(2,q), for an arbitrary odd prime power q. We have many examples of actions of the groups PSL(2,q) and SL(2,q) on 2-homology 3-spheres, for various small values of q (constructed as regular coverings of suitable hyperbolic 3-orbifolds and 3-manifolds, using computer-supported methods to calculate the homology of the coverings). We think that all of them occur but have no method to prove this at present (in particular, the exact classification of the finite nonsolvable groups admitting actions on 2-homology 3-spheres remains still open).  相似文献

For the continuous time Markov chain with transition function P(t) on Z+d, we give the necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of its Siegmund dual with transition function P(t). If Q, the q-matrix of P(t), is uniformly bounded, we show that the Siegmund dual relation can be expressed directly in terms of q-matrices, and a sufficient condition under which the Q-function is the Siegmund dual of some Q-function is also given.  相似文献

The near-group rings are an important class of fusion rings in the theory of tensor categories. In this paper, the irreducible ?+-modules over the near-group fusion ring K(?3, 3) are explicitly classified. It turns out that there are only four inequivalent irreducible ?+-modules of rank 2 and two inequivalent irreducible ?+-modules of rank 4 over K(?3, 3).  相似文献

Let F be a field of characteristic zero and E be the unitary Grassmann algebra generated over an infinite-dimensional F-vector space L. Denote by \(\mathcal{E} = \mathcal{E}^{(0)} \oplus \mathcal{E}^{(1)}\) an arbitrary ?2-grading of E such that the subspace L is homogeneous. Given a superalgebra A = A (0)A (1), define the superalgebra \(A\hat \otimes \mathcal{E}\) by \(A\hat \otimes \mathcal{E} = (A^{(0)} \otimes \mathcal{E}^{(0)} ) \oplus (A^{(1)} \otimes \mathcal{E}^{(1)} )\). Note that when E is the canonical grading of E then \(A\hat \otimes \mathcal{E}\) is the Grassmann envelope of A. In this work we find bases of ?2-graded identities and we describe the ?2-graded codimension and cocharacter sequences for the superalgebras \(UT_2 (F)\hat \otimes \mathcal{E}\), when the algebra UT 2(F) of 2 ×2 upper triangular matrices over F is endowed with its canonical grading.  相似文献

The cell structure of the spaces ℳ2,1 and ℳ3,1 is considered. These are the spaces of complex curves of genus 2 and 3 with one marked point. For the space ℳ2,1, nine cells of the highest dimension 8 are described and their adjacency is studied. For the space ℳ3,1, a list of all 1726 cells of the highest dimension 14 (with orientation) is obtained. The list of adjacent couples of cells is also obtained. These lists can be found on the web.  相似文献

We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of pin± and spin structures on Riemannian manifolds with holonomy group 2k. For any n4 (resp. n6) we give examples of pairs of compact manifolds (resp. compact orientable manifolds) M1, M2, non homeomorphic to each other, that are Laplace isospectral on functions and on p-forms for any p and such that M1 admits a pin± (resp. spin) structure whereas M2 does not.Mathematics Subject Classification (2000):58J53, 57R15, 20H15Partially supported by Conicet and grants from SecytUNC, Foncyt and AgCba.  相似文献

A very useful fact in additive combinatorics is that analytic expressions that can be used to count the number of structures of various kinds in subsets of Abelian groups are robust under quasirandom perturbations, and moreover that quasirandomness can often be measured by means of certain easily described norms, known as uniformity norms. However, determining which uniformity norms work for which structures turns out to be a surprisingly hard question. In [GW10a] and [GW10b], [GW10c], we gave a complete answer to this question for groups of the form G = F p n , provided p is not too small. In ℤ N , substantial extra difficulties arise, of which the most important is that an “inverse theorem” even for the uniformity norm || ·||U3{\left\| \cdot \right\|_{{U^3}}} requires a more sophisticated “local” formulation. When N is prime, ℤ N is not rich in subgroups, so one must use regular Bohr neighbourhoods instead. In this paper, we prove the first non-trivial case of the main conjecture from [GW10a]. Moreover, we obtain a doubly exponential bound.  相似文献

The partial ordering of Medvedev reducibility restricted to the family of 01 classes is shown to be dense. For two disjoint computably enumerable sets, the class of separating sets is an important example of a 01 class, which we call a ``c.e. separating class'. We show that there are no non-trivial meets for c.e. separating classes, but that the density theorem holds in the sublattice generated by the c.e. separating classes. Suppose π1(E, F) is the space of all absolutely 1-summing operators between two Banach spacesE andF. We show that ifF has a copy of c0, then π1 (E, F) will have a copy of c0, and under some conditions ifE has a copy of ℓ1 then π1 (E, F) would have a complemented copy of ℓ1.  相似文献

Three new summation formulas for 6 ψ 6 bilateral basic hypergeometric series attached to root systems are presented. Remarkably, two of these formulae, labelled by the A2n−1 and A2n root systems, can be reduced to multiple 6 φ 5 sums generalising the well-known van Diejen sum. This latter sum serves as the weight-function normalisation for the BC n q-Racah polynomials of van Diejen and Stokman. Two 8 φ 7-level extensions of the multiple 6 φ 5 sums, as well as their elliptic analogues, are conjectured. This opens up the prospect of constructing novel A-type extensions of the Koornwinder–Macdonald theory.  相似文献

In this note, the exact value of the James constant for the l3-l1 space is obtained, J(l3-l1)=1.5573…. This result improves the known inequality, J(l3-l1)≤4/3√10, which was given by Dhompongsa, Piraisangjun and Saejung.  相似文献

We obtain asymptotic equalities for the least upper bounds of approximations by Zygmund sums in the uniform metric on the classes of continuous 2π-periodic functions whose (ψ, β)-derivatives belong to the set H ω in the case where the sequences ψ that generate the classes tend to zero not faster than a power function.  相似文献

We are interested in minimizing functionals with ℓ2 data and gradient fitting term and ℓ1 regularization term with higher order derivatives in a discrete setting. We examine the structure of the solution in 1D by reformulating the original problem into a contact problem which can be solved by dual optimization techniques. The solution turns out to be a ’smooth’ discrete polynomial spline whose knots coincide with the contact points while its counterpart in the contact problem is a discrete version of a spline with higher defect and contact points as knots. In 2D we modify Chambolle’s algorithm to solve the minimization problem with the ℓ1 norm of interacting second order partial derivatives as regularization term. We show that the algorithm can be implemented efficiently by applying the fast cosine transform. We demonstrate by numerical denoising examples that the ℓ2 gradient fitting term can be used to avoid both edge blurring and staircasing effects.   相似文献
