A new and simple method is presented to determine the inde-pendent shear modulus of transversely isotropic material.Mathematical formulation,derivation and solution are given,and test apparatus and results are presented.The method wastested on one of such materials-Green River Formation oilshale.Comparisons wich other approximate results and acou-stical methods are made.Confirmation of the test methodwith materials having known shear moduli is also presented.  相似文献

In this paper, a general analytical method—space variable transform method is presented for solving free vibration problems of thick cylindrical shell with arbitrary boundary conditions. Free vibration characteristics of cantilever thick cylindrical shell are cvaluated by the presented method, and the numerical results are compared with the corresponding results of thin shell theory and experimental values. Theoretical analysis and calculating results show that the method presented in this paper has good convergence and aecuracy and can be extended to analyze free vibration of beams, plates and shells.  相似文献

An analytical solution is obtained for transient torsional vibration of a finite hollow cylinder with initial axial stress. The cylinder is subjected to dynamic shearing stress at the internal surface and is fixed at the external surface. The basic equations are presented and the solution is obtained by means of Fourier series expansion technique and the separation of variables method. The effects of the initial stress on the natural frequencies and transient torsional responses are presented and discussed.  相似文献

The mixed first-order shear deformation plate theory(MFPT) is employed to study the bending response of simply-supported orthotropic plates.The present plate is subjected to a mechanical load and resting on Pasternak’s model or Winkler’s model of elastic foundation or without any elastic foundation.Several examples are presented to verify the accuracy of the present theory.Numerical results for deflection and stresses are presented.The proposed MFPT is shown simplely to implement and capable of giving satisfactory results for shear deformable plates under static loads and resting on two-parameter elastic foundation.The results presented here show that the characteristics of deflection and stresses are significantly influenced by the elastic foundation stiffness,plate aspect ratio and side-to-thickness ratio.  相似文献

The bifurcations of solitary waves and kink waves for variant Boussinesq equations are studied by using the bifurcation theory of planar dynamical systems. The bifurcation sets and the numbers of solitary waves and kink waves for the variant Boussinesq equations are presented. A Fourier spectral method for the generalized Korteweg-de Vries equation with periodic boundary conditions is analyzed, and a corresponding optimal error estimate in L^2-norm is obtained. It improves the result presented by Maday and Quarteroni. A modified Fourier pseudospectral method is also presented, with the same convergence properties as the Fourier spectral method.  相似文献

A study is presented for magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) flow and heat transfer characteristics of a viscous incompressible electrically conducting micropolar fluid in a channel with stretching walls. The micropolar model introduced by Eringen is used to describe the working fluid. The transformed self similar ordinary differential equations together with the associated boundary conditions are solved numerically by an algorithm based on quasi-linearization and multilevel discretization. The effects of some physical parameters on the flow and heat transfer are discussed and presented through tables and graphs. The present investigations may be beneficial in the flow and thermal control of polymeric processing.  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to evaluate the fatigue reliability with hybrid uncertain parameters based on a residual strength model. By solving the non-probabilistic setbased reliability problem and analyzing the reliability with randomness, the fatigue reliability with hybrid parameters can be obtained. The presented hybrid model can adequately consider all uncertainties affecting the fatigue reliability with hybrid uncertain parameters. A comparison among the presented hybrid model, non-probabilistic set-theoretic model and the conventional random model is made through two typical numerical examples. The results show that the presented hybrid model, which can ensure structural security, is effective and practical.  相似文献

Nonlinear dynamic equations can be solved accurately using a precise integration method. Some algorithms exist, but the inversion of a matrix must be calculated for these algorithms. If the inversion of the matrix doesn‘t exist or isn‘t stable, the precision and stability of the algorithms will be affected. An explicit series solution of the state equation has been presented. The solution avoids calculating the inversion of a matrix and its precision can be easily controlled. In this paper, an implicit series solution of nonlinear dynamic equations is presented.The algorithm is more precise and stable than the explicit series solution and isn‘t sensitive to the time-step. Finally, a numerical example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the algorithm.  相似文献

An efficient and easy to implement method to generate Cartesian grids is presented. The presented method generates various kinds of Cartesian grids such as uniform, octree and embedded boundary grids. It supports the variation of grid size along each spatial direction as well as anisotropic and non‐graded refinements. The efficiency and ease of implementation are the main benefits of the presented method in contrast to the alternative methods. Regarding octree grid generation, applying a simple and efficient data compression method permits to store all grid levels without considerable memory overhead. The presented method generates octree grids up to a 13‐level refinement (81923 grids on the finest level) from a complicated geometry in a few minutes on the traditional desktop computers. Because of the complexity of piezoelectric crack problems, it is hard to obtain closed-form solutions, and numerical methods are largely resorted to. Hence, the upper/lower bound estimation of piezoelectric fracture parameters is of theoretical and practical importance. in this paper, the path-independent integral I, which is the dual of the J-integral, for electro-mechanical coupling crack systems, is presented. The related bound theorems are established for J and I. Piezoelectric dual finite elements are presented for the numerical implementation of the bound analysis. Moreover, an error estimator is presented for the assessment of numerical accuracy of the piezoelectric fracture parameters.  相似文献

A new numerical method for Nwogu's (ASCE Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal and Ocean Engineering 1993; 119 :618)two‐dimensional extended Boussinesq equations is presented using a linear triangular finite element spatial discretization coupled with a sophisticated adaptive time integration package. The authors have previously presented a finite element method for the one‐dimensional form of these equations (M. Walkley and M. Berzins (International Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids 1999; 29 (2):143)) and this paper describes the extension of these ideas to the two‐dimensional equations and the application of the method to complex geometries using unstructured triangular grids. A method for overcoming the surface tension time step constraint is presented. The algorithm presented in this work is an improvement on the work presented by Sussman and Ohta (SIAM J Sci Comput 2009). In this work, the method of Sussman and Ohta is extended in order to treat problems with contact angle dynamics. Furthermore, this work presents a more efficient method for computing volume‐preserving motion by mean curvature than the method presented previously. The new method is tested on the following four 2D problems: (1) 3D axisymmetric (r?z) surface tension driven zero gravity droplet oscillation, (2) measurement of the magnitude of parasitic currents for a droplet on a substrate initialized in static equilibrium, (3) relaxation of a 2D droplet on a substrate to static shape, and (3) relaxation of a 2D bubble on a substrate to static shape. The stress-strain-strain-rate behavior of polycarbonate is presented. It is demonstrated that the material does not exhibit a double-yield-point phenomenon, as others have reported, if true stress is plotted against actual strain. Also, the behavior of polycarbonate is presented under constant strain rate and relaxation conditions. The observed behavior of the material is discussed in relation to elements of recent theories of viscoelasto-plasticity due to Nagdi and Murch and Crochet. Simple mechanical models of the Bingham type are presented and are discussed with respect to the constitutive equation characterization of polycarbonte. The advantages and disadvantages of more general models are mentioned. Finally, the strain-rate behavior of PMMA (Polymethylmethacrylate) and a poylester given by others is presented and discussed, relative to polycarbonate and the characterization procedures used.  相似文献

In this paper a theoretical solution for two normally intersecting cylindrical shells subjected to transverse moment on the branch pipe is presented, which based on thin shell theory. The accurate shell equations, boundary conditions and calculating methods are adopted so that the solution presented can be applicable up to d/D⩽0.8 and λ=d/(DT)1/2⩽8. The presented results are in very good agreement with experimental and numerical results for ORNL-1 Model. They are also in agreement with the results obtained by WRC Bulletin 297 when d/D is small.  相似文献

This paper deals with the discretization of the one-dimensional Reynolds equation coupled with the film shape equation, that is used for the numerical solution of elastohydrodynamically lubricated contacts. The derivation of the developed discretization formula is based on the control volume approach. To reduce the discretization error caused by the upwind expression of the Couette (velocity) term, non-symmetric control volumes are used for discretization of the Reynolds equation, while for the elasticity equation the standard approach is used. A numerical method for the solution of the pressure and the film thickness profiles of elastohydrodynamically lubricated isothermal line contacts is presented. Results are presented for chosen typical parameters of a highly loaded contact. To show the formula efficiency, the convergence speed of both the presented discretization formula and a chosen comparative discretization formula (A.A. Lubrecht, Ph.D. Thesis, University of Twente, The Netherlands, 1987 and C.H. Venner, Ph.D. Thesis, University of Twente, The Netherlands, 1991) are checked. The results show that the presented formula gives better approximations of film thickness values for a given number of equidistant grid nodes. Moreover, the presented approach is probably suitable for more sophisticated cases, such as transient situations and elliptical contacts. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper presents the types of nanomaterials whose technology requires drying during processing. The methods of drying of three groups of nanomaterials are discussed: nanoparticles, nanolayers (nanofilms), and nanoporous materials. Principally the method of spray drying using ultrasonic nebulizers and electrospraying is presented for the first group. The Langmuir–Blogget technique is presented for the second group. The method of supercritical drying and the solvent replacement technique is described for the third group. Technological aspects of the presented methods are also briefly described.  相似文献
