We consider the production at ep colliders of exotic fermions expected in E6 grand unified theories within the context of a new, superstring-inspired, left-right symmetric model. The process ep→nh+X (with n and h being exotic fermions) proceeds via t-channel WR exchange and can lead to significant production cross sections at HERA energies (√s = 314 GeV) as well as at higher energy ep colliders.  相似文献

We study the potential of hadron colliders in the search for the pair production of neutral Higgs bosons in the framework of the minimal supersymmetric standard model. We perform a detailed signal and background analysis, working out efficient kinematical cuts for the extraction of the signal. The important role of squark loop contributions to the signal is re-emphasized. If the signal is sufficiently enhanced by these contributions, it could even be observable at the next run of the upgraded Tevatron collider in the near future. At the LHC the pair production of light and heavy Higgs bosons might be detectable simultaneously. An analytic theory of cumulative multibunch beam breakup in linear colliders is developed. Included is a linear variation of transverse focusing across the bunch train as might be applied, e.g., by chirping the radio frequency power sources or by using radio frequency quadrupole magnets. The focusing variation saturates the exponential growth of the beam breakup and establishes an algebraic decay of the transverse bunch displacement versus bunch number. A closed-form expression for the transverse bunch displacement is developed. It is used to quantify the total normalized emittance and thereby isolate the region of parameter space corresponding to high multibunch luminosity.  相似文献

A good knowledge of the luminosity spectrum is mandatory for many measurements at future $\mathrm {e}^{+}\mathrm {e}^{-}$ colliders. As the beam-parameters determining the luminosity spectrum cannot be measured precisely, the luminosity spectrum has to be measured through a gauge process with the detector. The measured distributions, used to reconstruct the spectrum, depend on Initial State Radiation, cross-section, and Final State Radiation. To extract the basic luminosity spectrum, a parametric model of the luminosity spectrum is created, in this case the spectrum at the 3 TeV compact linear collider. The model is used within a reweighting technique to extract the luminosity spectrum from measured Bhabha event observables, taking all relevant effects into account. The centre-of-mass energy spectrum is reconstructed within 5 % over the full validity range of the model. The reconstructed spectrum does not result in a significant bias or systematic uncertainty in the exemplary physics benchmark process of smuon pair production.  相似文献

We study neutral and charged Higgs boson production in association with stop and sbottom squarks at the Large Hadron Collider, within the Supergravity inspired Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. The phenomenological relevance of such reactions is twofold. Firstly, they constitute a novel production mechanism of Higgs particles, either through a decay of a heavier (anti)squark into a lighter one or via a Higgs bremsstrahlung process. Secondly, their production rates are extremely sensitive to the values assumed by the five input parameters of the model, this possibly allowing one to put stringent constraints on the latter. After an exhaustive scan of the parameter space, we find that the majority of such processes could be detectable at high luminosity, provided is large, (except in the case of and final states, whose detection is also possible for smaller values), that the universal soft Supersymmetric breaking masses are in the ranges GeV and GeV, and that the trilinear couplings are negative, . We also point out some sizable decay signatures and discuss their Standard Model (SM) backgrounds. Finally, we derive compact analytical formulae of the corresponding scattering matrix elements. The left-right asymmetric model featuring the bidoublet and two triplets of Higgs fields is investigated. It was established that, from an analysis of the reaction l ?γ → W ?νl, it is possible to deduce not only information about the properties of the singly charged Higgs bosons $\tilde \delta ^{( - )} $ and h (?) but also an answer to the question of whether the neutrino is a Majorana or a Dirac particle. The processes $f_i \bar f_j \to \Delta _1^{( - - )} \tilde \delta ^{( + )} $ and e?μ? → Δ 1,2 (—) γ leading to the production of doubly charged Higgs bosons are investigated. It is shown that information about the properties of singly charged Higgs bosons can also be obtained by studying the ultrahighenergy cosmic neutrinos from the reaction e ?ν e →μ?νμ.  相似文献

The length, complexity, and cost of the present final focus designs for linear colliders grow very quickly with the beam energy. In this Letter, a novel final focus system is presented and compared with the one proposed for the Next Linear Collider (NLC Zeroth-Order Design Report, edited by T. O. Raubenheimer, SLAC Report No. 474, 1996). This new design has fewer optical elements and is much shorter, nonetheless achieving better chromatic properties. Moreover, the new system is more suitable for operation over a larger energy range.  相似文献

In split supersymmetry, gauginos and higgsinos are the only supersymmetric particles possibly accessible at foreseeable colliders like the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the International Linear Collider (ILC). In order to account for the cosmic dark matter measured by WMAP, these gauginos and higgsinos are stringently constrained and could be explored at the colliders through their direct productions and/or virtual effects in some processes. The clean environment and high luminosity of the ILC render the virtual effects at percent level meaningful in unraveling the new physics effects. In this work we assume split supersymmetry and calculate the virtual effects of the WMAP-allowed gauginos and higgsinos in the Higgs productions e+e-→Zh and e+e-→νeν̄eh through WW fusion at the ILC. We find that the production cross section of e+e-→Zh can be altered by a few percent in some part of the WMAP-allowed parameter space, while the correction to the WW fusion process e+e-→νeν̄eh is below 1%. Such virtual effects are correlated with the cross sections of chargino pair productions and can offer complementary information in probing split supersymmetry at the colliders. Effects that are induced by contact four-fermion interactions in the processes e + e ?μ + μ ?, $\bar bb$ , and $\bar cc$ at $\sqrt s = 0.5$ TeV linear electron-positron colliders are investigated for the case of longitudinally polarized initial beams. This analysis employs new integrated observables constructed from the polarized cross sections for the scattering of final fermions into the forward (σ F) and the backward (σ B) hemisphere in such a way that they single out the helicity cross sections for the processes in question. This property of the observables makes it possible to perform, in the most general form, a model-independent analysis of contact four-fermion interactions and to set constraints on their parameters. It is also shown that the sensitivity of new polarization observables to contact interactions is noticeably higher than the corresponding sensitivity of canonical observables like σ, A FB, A LR, and A LR,FB.  相似文献
