Both pseudobinary systems exhibit large homogeneous regions of cubic and hexagonal Laves phases. Ordering tendencies on crystallographic sites between Al and the transition metals are observed in the hexagonal type.Electron transfer to the transition metals quenches their moments so that they become nonmagnetic at high Al concentrations. The peculiarities in the mechanism of magnetization which appear in rare earth dialuminides when Al is replaced by a transition metal have been studied in detail at cryogenic temperatures.The first replacement of Al results in a decrease in saturation moment. Neutron diffraction verifies the low ordered rare earth sublattice moments and reveals the ‘lost part’ as a disordered component. Considerable magnetic hardness develops in certain regions of concentration often connected with spontaneous increases in magnetization with field. All available evidence suggests the presence of unusual domain wall effects to be responsible for this effect. High remanences develop in both the hexagonal and in the cubic structures in the intermediate region. The development of disordered magnetic components is connected either with the disorder on crystallographic sites or changes in the free electron concentration.  相似文献

Far infrared (30–430 cm?1) reflectivity measurements of Hg2Cl2 and Hg2Br2 single crystals have been performed in polarized light. The spectra, which are in agreement with group-theoretical predictions, were analyzed by the oscillator fitting procedure and Kramers-Kronig method. The results are compared with the existing data from other measurements and the large anisotropy of polar modes is briefly discussed. The polarization vectors of all long-wavelength symmetry modes were determined group-theoretically.  相似文献

Longitudinal and transverse magnetostrictions of polycrystalline samples of intermetallic compounds RMn2Ge2 (R=Sm or Gd) are measured in pulsed magnetic fields up to 250 kOe. It is found that linear magnetostrictive strains of about 10?3 arise in a temperature range in which the magnetic field causes a change in the magnetic state of a manganese magnetic subsystem. The results obtained are described within the model of a two-sublattice ferrimagnet with a negative exchange interaction in the manganese subsystem in terms of a strong dependence of this interaction on interatomic distances.  相似文献

The results of 31P NMR Knight shift (KS) and spin-lattice relaxation time (T1) as well as magnetic susceptibility (ξ) measurements in the temperature interval 4.2–300K are reported for the compounds RENi2P2(RE = Ce, EuandYb) in order to understand the nature of the 41 magnetism in these compounds. The KS results conclusively establish that all these compounds exhibit non-magnetic ground states. There is a low-temperature upturn in ξ for CeNi2P2 and YbNi2P2 presumably due to magnetic impurities. The estimated spin fluctuation temperatures (Tsf) for EuNi2P2 above 50K agree qualitatively with those obtained earlier from Mössbauer and ξ data employing ionic interconfigurational fluctuation model, but seem to disagree at low temperatures. Implications of this result are discussed.  相似文献

Muon spin relaxation experiments have been carried out in the paramagnetic and magnetically ordered states of URh2Si2 and CeRh2Si2. As the magnetic structure of these compounds is well known, these measurements can help to characterise their magnetic properties probed by μSR and to understand the μSR results of the heavy fermion compounds of the same crystallographic family. Our measurements show that the muons occupy two different crystallographic sites. The spectra of URh2Si2 and CeRh2Si2 in the magnetically ordered states are very different, probably reflecting their different magnetic structures. The spectra obtained on CeRh2Si2 are similar to the published spectra of the heavy fermion compound CeCu2.1 Si2. Muon spin rotation measurements on LaNi2As2 indicate that the muon is diffusing at 150 K.  相似文献

Neutron diffraction study of polycrystalline HoRu2Si2, HoRh2Si2, TbRh2Si2, and TbIr2Si2 was performed in the temperature range between 4.2 and 300 K. For HoRu2Si2 the magnetic spin alignment of a linear transverse wave mode below the Néel temperature 19 K is observed. This static moment wave is propagating along the b-axis with k=(0, 0.2, 0) and is polarized in the c-axis. The root-mean-square and maximum saturation moments per Ho atom are 9.26 and 13.09μB, respectively. HoRh2Si2, TbRh2Si2 an TbIr2Si2 are simple collinear antiferromagnets of +-+- type with Néel temperatures of (27±1), (98±2) and (72±3) K, respectively. For TbRh2Si2 and TbIr2Si2 magnetic moments are localized on RE ions only and are aligned along the tetragonal axis, while for HoRh2Si2 they form an angle ø = (28±3)°.  相似文献

The CO2 TEA laser irradiation of CBr2F2 in the presence of Cl2 yielded 13C-enriched CBrClF2 and 13C-enriched CCl2F2 under selected experimental conditions. As the photolysis proceeded, the 13C concentration of CBrClF2 decreased gradually and that of CCl2F2 increased up to 90% or higher. These results can be explained by the mechanism involving the secondary 13C-selective IRMPD of the primary product CBrClF2. On the other hand, the carbon-containing product for a CCl2F2/Br2 system was only CBrClF2; the further IRMPD of which probably regenerated CBrClF2 in the presence of Br2. The decomposition probabilities of 12C- and 13C-containing molecules in both systems were measured as functions of laser line, laser fluence, and reactant pressures.  相似文献

X-ray photoemission spectra, resistivity and susceptibility of CeNi2Sb2 and CeCu2Sb2 were measured and are discussed. The results indicate that these alloys are Kondo systems. For comparison of the valence band properties, the spectra of the isostructural alloys of RT2X2-type with R = La, Gd, T = Cu, Ni and X = Sn, Sb were investigated, too.  相似文献

We report measurements of the electrical resistivity, the thermal conductivityk and the thermoelectric powerS between 1.5K and 300K on the anomalous CeCu2Si2 compound and on LaCu2Si2 as reference compound. For LaCu2Si2 the temperature dependences of andS are in accord with those found in otherd band metals. For CeCu2Si2 the observed resistivity (220 µ cm at 200K) leads to a very short electronic mean free path which is of the order of the Ce-Ce spacing. Correspondingly,k is almost identical with the phonon contributionk p . Below 20K, resistivity and thermoelectric power strongly suggest Fermi liquid behavior with a degeneracy temperature between 20K and 40K. The in-plane and out-of-plane resistivities of both 2H-TaSe2 and 2H-NbSe2 were determined down to 10 K. For both compounds, the resistivity anisotropy shows notably a slope change at temperatures where a CDW transition is expected to occur. On the other hand, for both compounds the resistivity anisotropy at the lowest temperature of measurement is much greater than expected by the Lawrence–Doniach model, which relates the critical magnetic field anisotropy to the normal state resistivity anisotropy for 3D-anisotropic superconductors.  相似文献

We investigate the adsorption behavior of methyl orange (MO) on composite xerogels. Mesoporous TiO2-SiO2 and TiO2-SiO2-Al2O3 xerogels are prepared by hydrolysis of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS), tetrabutyl orthotitanate (TBOT), and AlCl3 ·6H2O using HCl as a catalyst and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as a templating agent. The corresponding microporous xerogels are also prepared without addition of CTAB. These xerogels are then characterized by XRD, FTIR, and BET.We find that MO is adsorbed by the mesoporous xerogels in acidic solutions, showing Langmuir type adsorption isotherms. We also find that the adsorption decreases with increasing temperature. It is suggested that adsorption exhibits a sieve effect and that MO is adsorbed through electrostatic attraction and hydrogen bonding between MO and the xerogels.  相似文献

In the infrared spectra of molecules with more than one C-H bond the symmetric and antisymmetric stretching bonds often overlap, causing uncertainty in the intensity analysis. For CH2Cl2 and CD2Cl2 in the vapour state, the two bands overlap to such an extent that Straley who takes it as one band attributes it to antisymmetric stretching while Saekiet al assign it to the symmetric stretching. Following the method of analysis initiated in this laboratory, we have solved this problem by ultimately obtaining intensities separately forA 1 andB 2 species. The band is mostly due to the symmetric stretching, 0.06 out of the total of 0.31 contributing toB 2. Thus, this gives a method of separating the intensities of bands which are highly overlapping. We compare the temperature dependence of the zero-field muon spin precession frequency observed in Sr2CuO2Cl2 and La2CuO4 below the Néel temperature with a 2-d Heisenberg model with an additional small anisotropy. Good agreement of the observed results with this model reflects the highly 2 dimensional magnetic properties of these cuprates. The measured local fields are compared with a simple calculation of dipolar fields in the crystal to search for muon site locations. Our results provide evidence that the muon sites are related to the oxygen atoms in these compounds.  相似文献

The electronic structure of the layered compounds LaI2 and CeI2 was investigated by photoemission and electron energy loss spectroscopy. From the experimental results we are able to confirm the metallic nature of these compounds, and by using photon energy dependent measurements of the valence band we can identify the orbital character of the conduction band as essentially 5d1-like. A detailed analysis of the Ce 3d and 4f spectra yields a remarkably small 4f-5d hybridization strength, almost completely decoupling the f-electron from the conduction band, which makes CeI2 a somewhat unusual system compared to other metallic Ce compounds. Band structure calculations by Jepsen and Andersen [1] confirm these experimental results.  相似文献

Single crystal magnetization measurements and powder neutron diffraction on tetragonal ErRu2Ge2 as well as anisotropy of the paramagnetic susceptibility and specific heat measurements on ErRu2Si2 are presented. Besides the huge crystal field contribution to the uniaxial anisotropy, which favors the basal plane, a strong in-plane anisotropy is evidenced. From these features and neutron diffraction experiments it is shown that magnetic structures of these materials are double-Q and accordingly non-colinear below their Néel temperature (5.2 and 6.0 K for Ge and Si based compounds, respectively). The magnetic structures induced during the metamagnetic processes are discussed. Received 24 December 1999  相似文献

In BaF2 crystals, the linewidth of certain core band-conduction band excitons shows strong temperature dependence, while the corresponding linewidths in CaF2 and SrF2 do not. Calculations of the broadening due to the temperature-independent Auger effect are in good agreement with experimental data.  相似文献
