Long-period gratings have been made in nonphotosensitive optical fibers by irradiation of the core of a fiber with a focused beam of high-energy protons. The irradiated fibers exhibit relatively low loss, even before thermal annealing, and possess strongly wavelength-dependent transmission. The absence of a mask provides the opportunity to tailor the grating to a desired profile, and a variety of grating profiles were explored. The profile most resembling a sinusoid was found to produce the cleanest transmission spectra.  相似文献

利用800 nm飞秒激光脉冲作为光源,在标准通信单模光纤上直接刻写周期分别为100,200,300和400 m的长周期光纤光栅(LPFG),得到波长范围为1 280~1 680 nm的透射谱,分析研究了在不同刻写条件下LPFG透射谱的共振波长、透射深度和插入损耗等参数的变化。通过对比分析发现透射衰减与刻写长度、条数以及平台高度等有着一定的对应关系。优化实验参数制作出共振波长分别约为1 407,1 311,1 669,1 551 nm,透射深度分别约为24.0,22.3,27.8,23.4 dB,插入损耗分别约为2.5,1.7,3.2,2.0 dB的LPFG。  相似文献

Fabrication of surface relief-type gratings in transparent dielectrics, which are hard to machine, has been achieved by a holographic technique using two infrared femtosecond (fs) pulses from a mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser. The present method can be applied for a variety of transparent dielectrics, Al2O3 (sapphire), TiO2, ZrO2, LiNbO3, SiC, ZnO, CdF2, MgO, CaF2 crystals, and SiO2 glass. It is found that the grating formation is due primarily to laser ablation processes. Planar surface relief gratings can be fabricated by colliding two fs laser pulses on the surface of substrates which move at a constant speed, synchronized with the laser repetition rate. We present a method of helical long-period fiber grating (H-LPFG) fabrication by use of a CO2 laser for use as an optical torque sensor. A conventional optical fiber grating has periodic vertical index changes along its fiber axis, but a H-LPFG has a screw-type index modulation. The helical index modulation is obtained with the asymmetric index change caused by a single-side laser beam exposure. The H-LPFG shows peak shifts with codirectional or contradirectional torsion to the helix. Also, the polarization-dependent loss is measured to be relatively small compared with that of a conventional long-period fiber grating.  相似文献

A new method of fabrication of long-period fiber gratings by twisting of a standard single-mode fiber at high temperature is presented. The method relies on the fact that there always exists some core-cladding eccentricity in the optical fiber. Therefore, when the fiber is twisted, its core follows a helicoidal path inside the cladding. The transmission spectrum of the helicoidal long-period fiber grating that is produced contains several dips that correspond to resonances with the fiber cladding modes.  相似文献

Fabrication of magneto-optical microstructure by femtosecond laser pulses   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We investigate femtosecond laser direct writing (FLDW) in the fabrication of magneto-optical (MO) microstructures. The experimental results show that FDLW can introduce positive refractive index change in the MO materials. With the increase of the writing intensity of femtosecond laser pulses, refractive index change increases, whereas Verdet constant of the damaged area decreases nonlinearly. With suitable writing intensity, we obtain a single-mode waveguide in which Verdet constant is 80% of the bulk MO glass.  相似文献

We report the fabrication of long-period optical fiber gratings by use of a refractive-index increase induced by ion implantation. Helium ions were implanted in an optical fiber core through a metal mask that had a 170-microm -pitch grating with spacing of 60 microm . We obtained a wavelength-dependent effective transmission loss by use of the grating.  相似文献

报道了一种用高频CO2 激光脉冲写入的新型长周期光纤光栅 (LPFG) .发现该LPFG具有独特的应变、温度、弯曲、扭曲和横向负载特性 .分析表明这些特性与单侧CO2 激光加热导致光栅横截面折射率分布不均匀有关 .基于这些独特的特性提出了几种新型的LPFG传感器 :1)能彻底解决弯曲与其他参量之间交叉敏感问题的弯曲不敏感的传感器 ;2 )不仅能绝对测量扭曲率而且能判断扭曲方向的扭曲传感器 ;3 )单个LPFG实现温度和横向负载同时测量的传感器 .这些新型的传感器具有方法简单易行、体积小、能埋入智能材料的优点 ,可实现对工程结构的实时监测 ,具有广泛的应用前景  相似文献

A novel formation method of a long-period fiber grating (LPFG) based on a magnetic-force-induced microbend is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The LPFG employs a permanent magnet that exerts transversal force to the fiber by attracting a steel coil spring. The transversal force causes periodic microbending to the fiber, and therefore the transmission wave attenuates at the core-to-cladding mode resonance. This device has advantages of ease of fabrication, reconfigurability, and available for any type of fiber.  相似文献

In this study, a method for the fabrication of microstructures on the surface and inside Foturan glass by femtosecond laser-induced modification was developed. This technique was followed by heat treatment to crystallize the modified area, and the specimen was then placed in an 8% HF acid solution for chemical etching. The fabricated microstructures were observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results demonstrated that the etching time is an important parameter in the fabrication of microstructures on Foturan glass. An example of a tapered U-shaped microchannel with a minimized neck diameter of about 5 μm at the central point for cell detection is presented.  相似文献

We report a novel resistive random access memory using tri-layer dielectrics of GeO x /nano-crystal TiO2/TaON and low cost top Ni and bottom TaN electrodes. Excellent device performance of ultra-low 720 fJ switching energy, tight distributions of set/reset currents, and exceptionally long endurance of 5×109 cycles were achieved simultaneously. Such excellent endurance may create new applications such as those used for Data Centers that are ascribed to the higher-κ nano-crystal TiO2, hopping pass via grain boundaries, and fast switching speed of 100 ns to improve the dielectric fatigue during endurance stress.  相似文献

A deep ultraviolet femtosecond laser operating at wavelength 258 nm was demonstrated to be effective in trimming fiber Bragg gratings in telecommunication fibers. A smooth tunable resonance wavelength shift of up to 0.52 nm has been observed, corresponding to a refractive index change of ∼5 × 10−4 after an accumulated laser fluence of 63.3 kJ/cm2 at a single pulse fluence of 124 mJ/cm2. The ultrafast laser enhancement of ultraviolet photosensitivity response and modification of anisotropic index profile in silica fiber is a powerful technique to precise control of the performance of fiber Bragg grating devices for applications in optical filtering and polarization mode dispersion management.  相似文献

A simple method for generating multiple isolated femtosecond pulses by step gratings is presented, and a criterion for judging whether or not an incident pulse is just split into multiple independent pulses is obtained. The dependences of multiple pulses on the structural parameters of the step gratings are explored. The results show that an incident pulse can split into multiple isolated similar diffraction pulses for enough step height, and the pulse repetition interval increases with the increasing of the step height.  相似文献

基于由光子晶体光纤飞秒激光器产生的高重复频率飞秒激光搭建了飞秒激光微加工系统,利用LabVIEW编写程序精密控制三维移动平台的移动路径和高速快门,在加工功率为1.5W、移动速率为1mm/s时,利用直写技术在无胶铬版上得到了微米量级的任意形状的平面衍射光栅。利用CCD相机对光栅制备过程进行实时监视,保证了光栅的加工质量。制备的光栅在显微镜下观察,条纹边缘清晰、线纹粗细均匀。使用He-Ne激光照射加工的光栅,可以获得清晰、稳定、与理论符合很好的夫琅和费(Frauhofer)衍射图样,显示了所加工的光栅具有良好的光学性能。实验结果也表明了光子晶体光纤飞秒激光在光栅制作过程中所具备的良好的加工性能。  相似文献

We report the first observation of the attachment of two single plasma filaments created collinearly in the atmosphere by IR femtosecond laser pulses. The linked filamentary structure is electrically conductive and emits sub-THz radiation over its entire length. Concatenation is achieved only for a specific time ordering between the two initial laser pulses. The pulse producing the filament closer to the laser source must be retarded with respect to the other pulse.
