We report on a long-cavity passively mode-locked fiber laser in the anomalous dispersion regime. The nonlinear polarization rotation technique is employed to achieve mode locking. The output pulse from the fiber laser has a rectangular shape and a corresponding gaussian-shape spectral profile. Stable mode-locked pulses at a repetition rate of 278 kHz with single pulse energy as high as 715 nJ are obtained under equal bidirectional pumping power of 500 mW in cavity. The experimental results demonstrate that the passively mode-locked fiber laser operating in the anomalous regime can also realize a high-energy pulse, which is different from the conventional low-energy soliton pulse.  相似文献

提出一种在单模光纤正常色散区由连续波产生超短光脉冲串的新方法,即让连续波和一个波长位于光纤正常色散区的调制脉冲串在光纤中同时传输,交叉相位调制效应和群速度色散效应的相互作用能使连续波演化成一串超短光脉冲,其脉冲宽度比调制脉冲串中的脉宽要小得多,本文还通过计算机模拟,对这一方法进行了全面的考察和分析。结果表明,该方法不仅实用,而且可取得较好的效果。  相似文献

We present the experimental realization of a method to generate predetermined, arbitrary pulse shapes after transmission through an optical fiber in the nonlinear regime. The method is based on simulating the reverse propagation of the desired pulse shape in the fiber. First, linear and nonlinear parameters of a single-mode step-index fiber required for the simulation are determined. The calculated pulse shapes are then generated in a pulse shaper.  相似文献

We report the generation of high-energy short pulses from a mode-locked erbium/ytterbium-doped large-mode-area multifilament-core fiber laser operating in the purely anomalous dispersion regime. The self-starting fiber laser emits 400 mW of average output power at a pulse repetition rate of 44 MHz, corresponding to a pulse energy of 9.1 nJ. The laser produces near transform-limited output pulses with pulse duration of 1.6 ps, corresponding to 5 kW peak power. This new type of low-nonlinearity fibers demonstrates the power and energy scaling potential of fiber-based short pulse lasers in the eye-safe region.  相似文献

We report on the generation of high-average-power and high-peak-power ultrashort pulses from a mode-locked fiber laser operating in the all-normal-dispersion regime. As gain medium, a large-mode-area ytterbium-doped large-pitch photonic-crystal fiber is used. The self-starting fiber laser delivers 27 W of average power at 50.57 MHz repetition rate, resulting in 534 nJ of pulse energy. The laser produces positively chirped 2 ps output pulses, which are compressed down to sub-100 fs, leading to pulse peak powers as high as 3.2 MW.  相似文献

We study soliton phenomena accompanying the propagation of femtosecond Cr: forsterite-laser pulses through a microstructure fiber in the regime of efficient anti-Stokes frequency conversion. The dispersion of the fiber is designed in such a way as to minimize the group delay of the 1.25-m pump and the Stokes pulse within the length of soliton pulse compression in the regime of anomalous dispersion. Spectrally and temporally isolated solitonic features, resulting from soliton self-frequency shift, are detected at the output of such a microstructure fiber by means of cross-correlation frequency-resolved optical gating. We propose and demonstrate a simple but efficient way to generate low repetition rate pulses in an erbium-doped fiber ring laser by using self-pulsing technique. About 2.25 km long single mode fiber is used to elongate in the cavity, providing large anomalous cavity dispersion in the wavelength region around 1550 nm. Self pulses at a repetition rate of 85.3 kHz with single pulse energy as high as 110 nJ are efficiently obtained on the nanosecond time scale. The experimental results demonstrate that the self-pulse fiber laser operating in the anomalous dispersion regime can also realize high-energy pulses at a very low pulse repetition rate.  相似文献

The passive nonlinear reshaping in normally dispersive optical fibers in the steady-state regime is studied numerically. It is found that normal dispersion and self-phase modulation are able to provide pulse reshaping towards a parabolic pulse profile at the distances exceeding the optical wave breaking length. However, as compared to the similariton formation in active fibers the resulted pulse shape in passive fibers is strongly depended on the initial pulse parameters and nonlinear and dispersive fiber properties as well. The influence of initial pulse shape, initial chirp, third-order dispersion and loss on the parabolic pulse formation is studied consistently, and estimation of practical conditions which are needed for parabolic pulses formation in a passive fiber is provided.  相似文献

A stretched-pulse mode-locked ytterbium-doped fiber laser was passively synchronized to a femtosecond Ti:sapphire laser at a low repetition rate of 240 kHz through large cross absorption modulation along additional 1-m-long erbium-doped fiber. The synchronous fiber laser with an ultra-long fiber cavity could produce not only nanosecond flat-top pulses with tunable pulse duration but also Gaussian-shape stretched pulses with its minimum pulse duration of ∼450 ps as confirmed by cross-correlation measurement. When operating in the stretched pulse regime, the sub-nanosecond fiber laser could be synchronously triggered by the master injection with the cavity-length mismatch tolerance up to ∼7.8 cm and timing jitter less than 400 fs, confirming that the stretched-pulse mode-locking of the ultra-long slave fiber laser could be robustly controlled by cross absorption modulation effects in the erbium-doped fiber with appropriate femtosecond master injection.  相似文献

We report experimental and numerical results on the new pulse dynamics in a passively mode-locked ytterbium-doped fiber laser operating in the chirped-pulse regime. Due to the negligible nonlinearity of added highly-positive GVD segment in the purely-normal-dispersion regime, highly-positive chirped pulses can be formed through weak intra-cavity temporal and spectral breathing. Numerical simulations reveal intra-cavity pulse evolution with local temporal stretching phenomena and pulse shaping properties.  相似文献

实验研究了基于掺Yb偏振型大模场面积光子晶体光纤的孤子锁模激光器,获得了高脉冲能量的飞秒激光输出. 激光器基于线形腔结构,利用光栅对补偿腔内色散,并通过半导体可饱和吸收镜实现锁模的自启动. 实验中从振荡级直接获得了平均功率为700mW, 重复频率为47.3MHz(对应于14.8 nJ的单脉冲能量),脉冲宽度为518 fs的稳定锁模脉冲输出. 与普通孤子锁模飞秒光纤激光器相比,输出的单脉冲能量提高了两个数量级. 关键词: 光子晶体光纤 飞秒 光纤激光器 孤子锁模  相似文献

 运用掺镱双包层光纤放大器的理论模型,分析了连续和脉冲光放大时放大自发辐射(ASE)的计算方法。采用Runge-Kutta方法求解了考虑ASE稳态时掺镱双包层光纤放大器的放大特性,采用有限差分法求解了矩形、高斯和超高斯脉冲的放大特性。结果表明:用3 m长的双包层光纤、10 W的泵浦功率可以将脉宽3 ns、峰值功率为1 W的脉冲信号光峰值功率放大到15 kW左右;在饱和增益情况下,脉冲的波形变尖,宽度变窄;采用短的大模场双包层光纤和后向泵浦方式可以有效地降低ASE,并避免有害非线性效应。  相似文献

We report femtosecond pulse generation and chirped pulse amplification in Tm:fiber. A mode-locked oscillator operating in the soliton regime produced 800 fs pulses with 5 nm spectral bandwidth, at 40 pJ pulse energy. This oscillator seeded a pre-amplifier that utilizes a Raman soliton self-frequency shift to produce wavelength tunable pulses with 3 nJ energy, reduced pulse duration of 150 fs, and increased bandwidth of 30 nm. For further amplification, the pulses were stretched up to 160 ps using a chirped Bragg grating (CBG). Stretched pulses were amplified to 85 nJ after compression in single-mode Tm:fiber and recompressed with the CBG as short as 400 fs. Compressed pulses were coupled into a highly nonlinear tellurite fiber to investigate the potential of this ultrashort pulse 2-μm fiber source as a pump for mid-IR supercontinuum generation.  相似文献

We propose and demonstrate a Raman-assisted passively mode-locked Yb-doped fiber laser in a normal dispersion regime. A section of highly nonlinear fiber is adopted to enhance the nonlinearity to extend the bandwidth of the gain spectrum by the stimulated Raman effect. The mode-locked fiber laser emits a broad spectral bandwidth of 64 nm at the-20 dB level and a highly stable pulse operation with a signal-to-noise ratio of 77 dB.  相似文献

利用光脉冲在高双折射非线性光纤中传播时所遵守的相干耦合非线性薛定谔方程,研究了单一频率的线偏振光,当偏振方向沿两个双折射轴的分量强度相等时,其在阶跃式光纤中反常色散区和正常色散区所产生的调制不稳定性。结果表明,调制不稳定性这一过程不仅产生在反常色散区,而且产生在正常色散区,对于阶跃式光纤,矢量调制不稳定性还随级数不同发生变化。并且,反常色散区产生的增益谱不同于正常色散区,较之多一个增益谱区域。  相似文献

利用耦合非线性薛定谔方程(CNLSE)为非线性偏振旋转(NPE)锁模自相似光纤激光器建立了一种新的数值模型.模型中,用CNLSE描述脉冲在单模光纤中的传播,在增益光纤中同时考虑了增益带宽和增益饱和作用,用传输矩阵描述构成NPE锁模的光学元件.优化了腔内净色散和光纤长度等参数,模拟了脉冲在激光腔内的演化特性,得到了典型的自相似脉冲运行区域及特点.在最佳自相似脉冲运行区域内,得到了能量约为7 nJ、脉宽约11 ps、线性啁啾的抛物脉冲.比较了不同腔内净色散条件下输出脉冲的特点,给出了三阶色散对输出脉冲的影响. 关键词: 自相似脉冲 非线性偏振旋转锁模 耦合非线性薛定谔方程 数值模拟  相似文献

设计并搭建了一种支持百纳焦耳量级的单脉冲能量输出的锁模光纤激光器.激光器基于σ型腔结构,采用掺Yb偏振型大模场面积光子晶体光纤作为增益介质,利用半导体可饱和吸收镜实现自启动锁模.激光器内没有色散补偿机理,使其工作在全正色散锁模状态.通过在谐振腔内引入多通长腔使激光器的重复频率降低至11.1 MHz,直接获得了平均功率为1.08 W,单脉冲能量为 97 nJ,脉冲宽度为4.17 ps的稳定锁模脉冲输出,经腔外色散补偿,脉冲宽度压缩至740 fs.  相似文献

提出了一种测量单模光纤零色散波长的新方法,即让可调谐的连续波(波长λs)和波长λp位于光纤正常色散区的泵浦脉冲串在光纤中共同传输,交叉相位调制与群速度色散的相互作用可使得连续波的强度得到调制。对连续波λs进行调谐,若连续波被调制成亮脉冲,则表明λs位于光纤负色散区;若连续波被调制成暗脉冲,则表明λs位于光纤正色散区;若连续波的强度不能被调制,则表明λs位于光纤的零色散波长λ0附近。利用这一方法对长度为0.98km的色散位移光纤的零色散波长进行了测量,测量精度可达0.5nm。  相似文献
